I'm of two minds about the Off remaster not using the original soundtrack.

On the one hand, "by the way, you'd be responsible for clearing all of your own samples" is a hell of a thing to drop on an independent composer, and I totally understand why Coldwood would balk at that.

On the other hand, the original Off soundtrack very conspicuously uses an unlicensed and largely unaltered recording of Judy Garland singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", and one can see where a publisher with as large a target on their backs as Fangamer might be thinking "okay, what else in here is going to get our asses sued by Jeff Bezos if this guy isn't forthcoming about the sources of his samples?"

thinking about how tiktok resulted in some of the most fulfilling and fun creative projects ive seen in the last decade and how many americans are going to be missing those opportunities now. epic the musical did numbers in this platform and was a direct result of tiktok allowing creators and artists to collaborate on this massive project. cosplayers were able to collaborate on skits and projects across the world and had an amazing way to communicate and find each other through this app. bands and singers and musicians of all kinds could use the audio tab to boost their music in a world theyd never have the reach to otherwise. independent artists and authors got such a head start without having to be tied to some big label. im mourning. i miss them already. how do i find them now? will we ever see something like this again?

I sometimes wonder what the IP situation with the Philips CD-i Zelda games is. Like, obviously Nintendo has absolutely no reason to randomly have Morshu show up in a modern Legend of Zelda game (and several reasons not to), but could they if they wanted to?
