supernatural Project Eden’s garden au

this was inspired by @fabesblueberries drawing of Desmond, Eloise and Wolfgang with animal traits (please go check it out the art is very good) and the au began from there.

originally it was an au where the cast slowly started to transform into animal hybrids, but after reading to cover one’s eyes by wei_wei_wei on ao3, the au changed directions.

now it’s an au where some members of the cast have a supernatural affinity.

Damon is a snake hybrid.

Wolfgang is a werewolf.

Jett is a were coyote.

Ulysses is a warlock who was forced to make a pact with a demon named Stolas.

Toshiko is a yokai who doesn’t have a mouth.

Kai got abducted by the Fae as a kid and that left him weird.

Jean’s descended from a dragon.

And Eva is an omen bringer/banshee. (Whenever something bad is about to happen, she gets the urge to scream).

The whole plot kinda revolves around this ring that Damon has that makes him look like a regular human. Turns out it actually belongs to Jean’s family and was forged by Ingrid’s ancestors centuries ago, and Jean is actually looking for it.

Stolas, Ulysses’s patron once wanted the ring to study it, so Jean’s dragon ancestor handed it off to the fae for safe keeping.

However, because of Kai, (timey-wimey shenanigans), it ended up in the hands of a garden snake who got transformed into a human man when wearing the ring. This guy is Damon’s father and Damon’s mom ended up killing him for lying to her and stealing the ring so her son would grow up as a normal human.

And yeah that’s the au so far.

In honor of Chapter 1 coming out for Project:Eden’s Garden I drew my fav boy Damon as well as share my theory (or my hypothesis/idea cause I’m not really basing this on a lot) on why I think Kai is going to die (not in chapter 1, probs dying as chapter 4 or 5 victim)

(Also if you couldn��t tell, the fanart is inspired by my idea about Kai’s death lol)

First the fanart, I’m very proud of how this came out (let’s see how long that lasts lmao), took awhile to get the effect on the butterflies right

And now on why I think Kai is going to die

All the characters are associated with an animal, Damon a snake, Eva a crow, Wolfgang a sheep, etc, and Kai is a butterfly.

Butterflies often represent life, death and resurrection in Christian iconography, also being a symbol of hope and endurance but more often they represent rebirth, transformation and change. In official art we see Damon and Kai together a lot

And what is Kai’s talent again, the ultimate influencer. My belief is that during the game Kai is going to influence Damon and is going to be a big part in his character growth, especially when he dies, Damon at first will be like “that’s sad but I don’t care” to “wait no I actually care a lot” really quickly, he’ll have to come to terms with he’s feelings towards Kai (wether that be romantic or platonic, my moneys on romantic cause in the valentines pic it says Damon got something from a secret admirer and there are butterflies around him, Kai’s signature animal)

I imagine Damon will be faced with a lot of grief and regret of how mean he was to Kai when he was alive (similar to Himiko and Tenko from DRV3) we’ll see Damon be at his lowest and potentially at his most vulnerable and just not understand why until either he or one of the other characters (probs Wolfgang) helps him realize his feelings, I Imagine some tears would be shed from Damon

TLDR: I think Kai and his death are basically gonna be used for Damon’s character development lol

But that’s just my thoughts, if anyone has anything they’d like to add to this I’d love to see it

I played Project:Edens Garden and I'm not kidding but I had a gacharonpa oc named ava. And she was the ultimate liar. I didn't know about Edens Garden when I made her.

(for those out of the loop, this is about Chinchillasinunison’s HEARTBREAKING Project:Eden’s Garden fic, A Swan in Coyote’s Skin. You should read it. And if you’re REALLY out of the loop, this is a fanfic for the Danganronpa fangame Project: Eden’s Garden. You should play it. )

So. I ADORED your P:EG fic to bits, and I've been trying to figure out how to make the case happen. Because yes, it’s an AMAZING idea for a death, but it’s a hard murder to actually get to trial.

So suddenly there’s a body, burnt so badly that you can’t easily identify the victim (though you’ve got reason to think it’s Eloise from the clothing remains). And it just so happens that the prime suspect is the guy who constantly wears a mask. Who, in addition, suddenly can’t talk! 

So...yeah, the first thing anyone would do is want him to take off the mask. And I don’t think that’s me being biased because I KNOW it’s Eloise, but because it’s just common sense (especially with Eva there, who seems very good at seeing through lies). And once they start asking for the mask to come off, it’s over. 

The only way I can see getting around that is if they don’t know Jett was at the crime scene, which means Mark has to lie. Which is obviously a bad idea for his continued survival, but I wouldn’t say it’s out of character.

Mark is pretty defeatist in the prologue. He’s going to have a horrible time mentally in the game, and if we’re assuming the predicted Jett Mark bonding happened, Jett’s probably Mark’s only friend in the garden. I don’t think it’d be out of character for Mark to lose hope upon suspecting that his friend is a killer.

 Because honestly, they’re all in hell. They’re stuck killing each other until only two are left, and they don’t even know what’d happen to the two who make it. And someone like him, someone who doesn’t have a talent that’d help him survive whatsoever, doesn’t really have a good shot of making it.

Two people surviving isn’t much better than one really; Desmond already pointed that out when their situation was revealed to them. Why shouldn’t Jett be the one to make it out? 

And Mark making the decision to sacrifice himself and the rest of the class for Jett has an added tragedy to it, because that’s not even Jett. Because Jett would NEVER want Mark to do that, because Jett spent so much time trying to keep Mark hopeful. Now Eloise has killed Jett and the hope Jett tried to create. 

But! How the hell does Eloise get away with not talking? If Mark lies, the class has no explanation for Jett’s silence. And if Mark tells a half truth, saying that Jett got injured but not placing him at the crime scene, it’s still pretty suspect.

Mark’s talent might be useful for this specific issue actually. He not only makes music, but he makes remixes. Remixes, which are all about changing the source material to sound different. Is it a stretch to say he could make himself sound like Jett through voice editing? And Jett isn’t the smartest guy in the class, so nobody’d bat an eye if he were slightly quieter in the trial than usual.

I think it’d be hard to pull off, but possible. Mark voice edits a bunch of lines for Jett, then (somehow) uploads the lines to Jett’s watch (or some other device). Then Jett uses that during the investigation and trial. Which is very limiting, but it’s better than being silent the whole time. 

And hell, Jett’s car accident could be used as an excuse. Of course he’d be quieter after someone as kind as Eloise died! And of course, since he was in such a horrible accident, he’s probably got a phobia of burning alive! So it makes sense he’d be a bit quiet. And hey, if Jett sounds a bit strange, that’s just the helmet. 

(also, other benefits of Mark lying: 1, it’s terribly sad to see him work so hard at something that’s going to get him killed! 2, it’d make Eloise feel horrible, which adds to the tragedy! I do love making my favorite characters endure hardship!)

I thought about making it an original series. And i probably will. It’s just that I dont want to compete with Project:Eden’s Garden rn so im calling it a fangame.

Yes! ...At least, I'm trying! My backlog is still pretty large and I'm trying not to get so buried in new asks that I forget the older ones....Eheh...

(I'm also still trying to finish Chapter 4.2 of MariPav before the end of the year, which I'm less and less sure about now. I’m STILL stuck in the inking phase... wahh... Oh, and, err, I’ve got to keep all my jobs happy at the same time! Curse you, adult life!)

I do think your idea of adding psychic powers into the mix is a neat one, both for what it could mean for character interactions and how that could play into some complciated murder set-ups! I'd like to think that, because of <spoilers> Dangan Ronpa is pretty cool with fangames being made, but you could also mold this idea into an original property while changing very little of it!

Are you familiar with the game "Your Turn to Die"? That little indie title wears its Dangan Ronpa inspiration like a big flashy t-shirt, but it has seen really great success overtime, getting released on Steam and even a manga adaptation!

(The reason I encourage people to think freely about taking things in an original direction is not because I'm against fangames and fanworks, btw. I love 'em! And I know how some things just thrive off that connection to the original propery. But I also think that some of everyone's cool ideas could spiral off into works that end up with their OWN fanworks someday too!)

I have watched first part of prologue but you should watch danganronpa:Eternal Endings.

It has pretty interesting premise and I love most of characters so far!The art might turn some off but it grows on ya!

And it's playable game that has a similar gameplay style to project:eden's garden & Danganronpa v3!
