oh my god it even makes it more clear that ppl are Not Sure that he's dead. netflix: "as you said, he died for sure, right?" viki "based on what you said...did he die, or not?" and as an added bonus the cadence of characters' speech seems much less abrupt, probably bc the translation is reflecting the structure better. there's a pause in between two phrases jingyi says that sounds stilted up against the netflix translation but up against the other one it's clear that the pause goes between 'die' and 'or not', just as you'd ask a question you wanted clarification on. i mean, it's still a very different language to english and there are certain cadence differences that go along with that, but i literally feel like i just went from the cliff notes to the unabridged this is a game changer why didnt i do this four years ago

have you ever watched the object show the nightly manor? it's a murder mystery object show!

Ive Watched It Several Times! TNM is a Show Who I Respect on Principle Just for How Unique It Is. Completely Abandoning the Object Show Formula and Then Working in a Genre That Isn't Comedy Slice of Life is Appreciated. Tonally It Can Be Jarring and a Lot of the Characters Kind of Lack Oomph to Me, But My Public Criticisms are Gonna Be Milder Because Allenmations is a Smaller Creator and I Respect His Chutzpah. I Do Wish He'd Confirm GPHat in an Actual Episode Though, Less Than Fond of That.

there has to be some middle point between early 2000s zero budget problem-of-the-week shows with 10 million seasons and 20 episodes per season and modern miniseries-that-aren't-actually-miniseries with 4 overproduced 2 hour episodes released every five years. the modern television landscape would lead you to believe the answer is no.
