We had another beautiful fall day with some surprising late season color clinging to the local hills. To take advantage, Blake and I made a short trip down the interstate to Prickett's Fort State Park, which features a reconstructed refuge fort representative of the kind that protected settlers on the Virginia frontier in the late 1700′s. More about the history of the park and local area here. The Foundation conducts demonstrations of traditional frontier skills, such as blacksmithing, spinning and weaving, candle-making, etc., using costumed interpreters during the park’s tour season from April through October.
