7, 9, 13,16, 29 :D!
7. three words from your native language that you like the most?
1. szkło (the prettiest word in every single language) 2. różana lemoniada (technically its 2 words not one but shhh) 3. rezerwacja (it just fucking occured to me now, i have no explanation why)
9. which of your neighbouring countries would you like to visit most/know best?
i think czechia, but tbh id love to visit all of em
13. does your country (or family) have any specific superstitions or traditions that might seem strange to outsiders?
idk the outside really but we have lektor. its horrible but it exists.
also we call the pot ‘czajnik’ where the ‘czaj’ part comes from tea in russian, and we call biscuits ‘herbatniki’ from ‘herbata’ which means tea in polish. guess biscuits were first. (ale tak szczerze prędzej bym kogoś pobił niż nazywał czajnik herbatnikiem w jakimkolwiek uniwersum)
and when youre abroad and someone whos polish (especially old people) hear you speak polish they will walk up to you because ‘hey!! fellow polish person!!”. a lady did that once to us in italy and it was horrible (like everyone was nice and okay obvs but i felt SO awkward). i hate it please stop doing that it freaks me out
also when in comes to my family specifically, my paternal side has this weird sense of family as in ‘youre part of this family which means youre a cunning motherfucker and well always have your back’ which is pretty sweet, but because we all know better than everyone (every single one of us, me including, thinks theyre always right) it makes discussions pretty fun (/half sarcasm). and theres a ‘oh typical [my last name]’.
16. which stereotype about your country you hate the most and which one you somewhat agree with?
i hate every single stereotype that was “inspired” by everything wrong in this country. (that we’re stupid thieves and alcoholic bigots) the thieves stereotype actually got me in trouble in salzburg, austria once :)
but i suppose its true that were like really nice to strangers and guests? like were nurtured to be kind to guests, and be on our top behavior and always offer tea or anything like that.
no matter how hard it is you gotta make shit work
(i sąsiad nigdy nie może wiedzieć, że ci źle, chyba, że sam ma gorzej no ba /s)
29. does your region/city have a beef with another place in your country?
i mean were galicja so even if we did have we’d have our asses handed to us let’s be real lmao
(for those who dont know: because in the late 18th century, the country that contained poland and few other countries in it like lithuania, belarus, ukraine and some more over the course of its life, the polish lithuanian commonwealth, got taken apart by russia, prussia and austria, and for like 130 years we were stripped of our culture, our land, our language, and a fuckton of our people. because those three countries tried to rip our nation apart, each part of the country was heavily influenced by their cultures. the southern part that was taken by austria is called ‘galicja’ and from the partitions period (1795-1918) were known for music, and art and being shitty at economy and fighting all that, since it was well, austrian)
(also jebać austrię za tego jednego gościa z salzburga, nigdy nie zapomnę szmaty)
