Important Post: Please read if you are in the SVTFOE/any cartoon except eah fandom
Hey guys! In case you haven’t seen me around in the cartoon fandom part of tumblr, my nickname is Princess and that’s what I let everyone call me publicly. I’ve been on tumblr ever since 2012 and since I joined the main part of my blog has mostly been cartoons and animation. Particularly right now Star Vs The Forces Of Evil, Ever After High and The Loud House. I’m even a mod with @queenbean03 on the blogs for Janstar and Jarco week.
But recently, something hasn’t felt right with me in terms of where I’m at with fandoms at the moment. I of course still love cartoons and animation and it will always hold a special place in my heart. (Particularly eah, which is a fandom I don’t really see leaving anytime soon) but I feel like I’ve been forcing myself to still like them because all the friends I’ve made on this blog have been from those fandoms and it’s what I’ve started this blog from and I don’t want to dissatisfy them and make them unfollow me.
~ ~
This feeling started last year when I got into bandom and used to reblog posts about bands I liked onto , every-time I reblogged that stuff I felt insecure, not only cause this was a new thing for my blog, but also because I was scared that it wouldn't be received well and you'd be annoyed with seeing it on your dash when you wanted and followed me for something else. I got so insecure about it that I decided to make a sideblog just for bandom stuff that hopefully a different crowd on this app/website would appreciate. ~ ~ Right now I've noticed that I've slowly been losing interest in cartoon fandoms and having less of a need to make content for them. First it was Monster High, mainly because of a pesky person in that fandom trying to peddle free art out of me! (Although I don't do commissions, I was just sick of that person trying to get free art of toralei doing literally mostly the same things) and then it happened next with SVTFOE after the first Janstar and Jarco weeks had happened and I was losing interest in the show apart from the ships and finding it hard to catch up with all the new plot twists. And then finally with the loud house and Steven Universe where a similar thing happened to me. ~ ~ At first I denied it because I still didn't want my followers to be unhappy with me, but also I knew deep down I my heart I wasn't becoming interested in TV shows anymore, I was instead gravitating interest either towards my own original ideas or bands I liked and sometimes eah. And then recently, Queenie said that there's going to be another janstar week and potentially a jarco week and I felt extremely bad that I wasn't really an active mod on those blogs anymore, every-time I got a new notification for something she had posted on there I always felt super bad about it because I was the one who had co created those blogs and now I was just neglecting them! ~ ~ After all these events happening, I've finally made a decision that will definitely change my blog and make me lose a few followers, but I honestly don't care now! I'm now doing what makes me happy and what makes my followers happy, because I would rather be hated for who I'am, than loved for who I'am not. I'm going to mostly retire from posting cartoon related content apart from eah and original content including my own. I'm not going to entirely stop, but I'm going mostly restrain from this kind of stuff because I've found its what's been burdening me a lot lately! Here's a small list of changes I will be making. ~ ~ - I WILL STILL POST EAH CONTENT! I love this show way too much to leave its fandom forever after and you guys in that fandom are some of my best friends ever and have supported me so much throughout my artistic journey. ~ - I will sometimes still post The Loud House content relating to anti-loudcest stuff and content by anti-loudcesters I like so that you guys can get recognition because you really do deserve it! ~ - I will still reblog things like fanart and stuff like that, but only if I'm really impressed by it, or I'm boosting a friend's work. ~ - I will still be friends with my amazing mutuals because you guys have supported me through so much and I will never leave you! Best friends until the end of the Internet! ~ - The majority of my revamped blog will now be Aesthetics, original art, ever after high, funny things, social justice and Dan and Phil/other youtubers. ~ - I won't be an active mod on @janstarweek2016 or @jarcoweek2016 anymore, but the blogs will still be kept and if you still want to ask me simple questions about ships you can direct these to me. But I won't answer story prompts/headcanons etc, but Queenie will answer instead. (I'll have to talk with her further about this) ~ - I won't be the most active person on tumblr now, mainly because of other distractions like school and Instagram but if you still want to talk to me I will answer all your questions and have conversations with you about anything if you PM me. ~ That's all folks that will be happening but if you have any questions, please ask or PM me and I will tell you. I truly love you guys and I love posting things for my over one hundred followers, but however I have to think about what's best for myself too and I've found that this is what is best for me. Thank you to my amazing mutuals for sticking with me through thick and thin and being some of my best friends in the world! One more thing I also tell of you guys is, if you guys like bands in the "emo" or "pop punk" genre and awesome alternative music of all kinds you guys can follow @themissingway my music blog. It has nearly all types of music but mostly P!atd and Mcr because they are currently my favourite things at the moment. You don't have to follow it, but I honestly wouldn't mind if you did, even if you're not interested in that kind of content and just really care about seeing me on another blog. ~ ~ Finally once again, another thank you to everyone for staying and please talk to me whenever you please about anything you want! Goodbye everyone, I'll be back 😜 Princess out! Xx 💖

Sea Trials: 10 Important Tests to Ensure Vessel Safety
Sea trials of a newly built ship are important to ensure the overall safety of the ship, the crew and the cargo.
Now suppose that you give a million-dollar contract to a shipyard for building a luxury cruise liner. You’ve already stated your requirements (such as speed required, fuel oil consumption, no. of passengers etc) as technical specifications mentioned in the contract.
Well, as the owner of such a vessel you surely would expect that the final delivered vessel conforms to the corresponding requirements mentioned in the contract else your feasibility study of making profits would fail and you’ll spend the rest of your life trying to repay the million dollar loan to the banks.
Apart from being the ultimate sufferer of such a failed business venture, there’s loss in it for the shipyards also as they have to pay you extortionate amounts of money as penalties covered under various guarantees.
10% of the total contract amount is yet to be paid to the shipyard after successful delivery of the vessel and in case of any faults, the penalties will take the form of a deduction from the same.
A question commonly arises as to at what stage will an owner come to know that his ship is not conforming to the technical specifications or the rules and regulations of approving classification society?
Will it be after the faulty ship is handed over to the owner and his crew will inform him? Or will it be before the delivery of the vessel?
Well, to answer that very question is the foundation of this article.
It’s customary to launch a ship in the most grandiose manner. It then becomes the responsibility of the shipyard to let that moment of happiness prevail until the final delivery and that’s when they perform some crucial tests at sea (a.k.a sea trials).
Every shipyard after constructing and launching a vessel performs a set of tests to ensure that all systems of the vessel meet the corresponding requirements assigned by the owner under the contract and at the same time conform to the rules and regulations of the approving classification society.
This series of tests are clubbed under the heading Sea trials which simply imply trials carried out at the sea after final outfitting and launching of the vessel just before delivery.
In this article, we’ve discussed 10 important tests to be carried out during sea trials
1. Draft Measurement
Draft is an important matter of concern for any ship as it shapes and regulates a number of ship hydrostatic and hydrodynamic parameters.
Before measuring the draft of the ship, it’s imperative to measure the density of water in which the ship ought to be floating and hence the specific gravity of seawater is measured.
Accordingly, the draft is measured in that fluid (same water) and in case the ship is not floating at the required draft it is corrected since the very purpose of speed trials is to prove guaranteed speed at a particular draft.
2. Anchor Test
Ship Anchor plays an important part in keeping a vessel stationary as per the requirement such as in ports and harbours. It’s imperative for a vessel’s position to become dynamically stable to prevent any mishap such as collision with other nearby vessels in port. Hence, the anchor test is performed to check the functioning of the entire anchoring mechanism.

The following are the points outlining the test procedure and requirements during sea trial:
The anchor test is conducted at a depth of sea of 80 meters
The anchor chain is dropped freely (both from Port and Starboard one after the other) During this the dropping brake is applied 2-3 times to test its capacity.
Finally, the anchor is heaved and heaving speed is measured by noting downtime on the stopwatch for heaving each chain length. As per rule, the hoisting speed should not be less than 9m/min.
3. Steering Gear Test
Imagine a situation where a ship’s manoeuvrability has been compromised due to malfunctioning of the steering gear. The following points shed light on the test procedure and the necessary requirements for the same.
First of all, the vessel should be moving at full ahead speed.
Now the rudder is moved from 35-degree Port to 35-degree Starboard (called hard to port and hard to starboard in nautical verbiage) by using pressure from one hydraulic pump and then subsequently using two pumps.
As per class requirement, the time taken by the rudder in going from hard port to hard starboard or vice versa should be less than 28 seconds.

Emergency Steering Test- This test is performed when the vessel is moving at half ahead speed and the steering gear draws emergency power from the emergency D.A(Diesel Alternator) Set.
4. Main Engine Endurance Test
The driving and prime component of a ship on failure can make even the most experienced sailors and engineers worried and hence almost 9 measurements are taken while testing the main engine during sea trials.
The main engine should be run for 6 straight hours at full rated r.p.m in order to test its performance at full load. For the initial 1-2 hours, the engine is run on Light Diesel Oil (LDO) and for 3-4 hours on Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) and lastly again for 1-2 hours on LDO. This is done in order to check the changeover process from HFO to LDO.
The following are the measurements recorded during this test.
Noise levels are recorded at various places on the ship
Similarly, vibration levels are recorded at different places
The capacity of Fresh Water Generator is recorded
The performance of Exhaust Gas Boiler is assessed.
Fuel Oil Consumption in litres/hour is recorded and Specific Fuel Oil Consumption (SFOC) in gm/kW/hr is calculated.
Power is recorded from Shaft Horsepower Meter
Load on Diesel Generator Sets is recorded
All systems are checked for any leakages
The temperatures and pressures of all systems (Fresh Water (FW)/ Lube Oil (LO)/ Fuel Oil (FO)/ Sea Water (SW) / Exhaust Gas) are measured and recorded
5. Speed Trials
Suppose the owner cited a speed requirement of 15 knots. But the vessel is operating at a speed of 16 knots at the required draft. What happens next is a penalty imposed on the shipyard. However, there is a grace margin of 0.3 knots above which for every 0.1 knots the penalty increases.
As mentioned under the draft requirement heading,  speed trials are carried out to check the speed of the vessel at the required draft as per the contract.
The test is carried out at a minimum of 3 powers – such as 75%, 85%, 100% MCR (Maximum Continuous Rating) or any other power as per the contract.
The speed at each power is measured using the Global Positioning System (GPS) by running the ship in two opposite directions (called double run).
Now the speed measured at suppose three powers are plotted to give a speed-power curve.
Finally, from the curve, the speed corresponding to the required power as outlined in the contract is noted.
6. Crash Stop Tests
In this test, the stopping ability of a vessel is assessed.
When the vessel is moving at full ahead speed, the engine is reversed to full astern to commence stopping of the vessel
The time taken by the vessel to come to a complete halt is recorded.
The distance travelled by ship starting from the moment the lever was put to full astern until the ship stopped is noted
This test is also carried out from full astern to full ahead condition.

7. Astern Running
All vessels should have the manoeuvring capability to run in the astern direction as per rules. Hence during sea trials, the vessel is run in the astern direction at about 70% ahead MCR by running the engine in reverse direction.
8. Turning Circle Test
This test is carried out to measure the diameter of the circular path which the vessel starts to traverse as soon as the rudder is put hard to port or hard to starboard. The vessel is run to complete one circle. The diameter of the completed circle is measured using GPS.

9. Navigation Equipment
Operation of equipment such as RADAR, communication systems etc. are also checked during sea trials.
10. Black Out Test
This test is aptly called ‘blackout test’ as there is a complete blackout on board a ship. This happens as during this test all the main generators (typically 3 in number) are shut down and the automatic starting of Emergency Diesel Alternator (D.A) set is observed. As per rule, the emergency D.A set should come online within a time span of 45 seconds.
These were 10 important tests to be carried out during sea trials. Ship construction is a meticulous process and still for all practical reasons many shortcomings of a vessel emerge out during sea trials.
When this happens the shipyard personnel work to make the vessel suitable up to the satisfaction of the owner as per the contract to prevent or minimise any deduction in that 10% contract amount, we talked about earlier (which is released post successful delivery of the vessel).
Sea trials are what actually put a vessel to test and must be carried out diligently in a punctilious manner with every concerned person present on board to assess and record the measurements and at the same time try to identify the cause of any malfunctioning. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that these tests once conducted and analysed help make a ship safer as well as allowing it to sail smoothly by conforming to all rules and regulations of the classification societies.
Hope you liked going through it. Do let us know your views in the comments below!

Blog Post #8
Interview:
1. The main factors influencing my purchase: genre and all the tracks must be good. I normally stream music and if I find that the whole album is worth purchasing, I will go get a copy. If not, I will only save several favorite tracks to my library on the streaming software.
Sam Smith’s “The Thrill Of It All” album.
I like most of the tracks (I think Sam Smith is one of the few popular artists whose music isn’t degraded into a mainstream, superficial direction) and my mom is a big fan of him so I got the physical copy of the album for both of us to listen on the DVD player.
I like indie music for the most part.
I normally stream music on Spotify and watch videos on YouTube to discover lesser-known artists.
The music industry focuses too much on eye-candy and earworm factors.
None. I only enjoy their music, without regarding them as role models to pick up personality traits.
As mentioned, no matter how much I love the artist, I will stream the album prior to purchase. There are artists who used to be great at first but after some recognition, their music becomes the “popular” type, which I don’t find enjoyable at all.
Not really. I think of music as a temporary escape from reality so I try not to think about social responsibilities too much.
Starting fundraising campaigns on social media sites, keeping their image in front of the public eye and organizing concerts whose ticket revenue partly goes to charity organizations.
Not really. I personally don’t think the music industry contribute significantly to the well-being of society as much as other fields.
Not much. I enjoy myself at live music events than think about socially responsible behavior.
A musician that thinks about ethical responsibilities from a small scale (image, song lyrics, music videos) to a large scale (interviews, fundraising, charity).
I think it’s important for an artist to do so. The audience comes from many different age groups, and for youngsters who enjoy that artist, there’s a high chance they will learn the artist’s way of thinking and behavior.
Not really. As a listener, I don’t really link music with social responsibilities.
No. I go to the event simply because I like the style of music.
I think everyday decisions have more impact on social responsibility (e.g: you help a person in need), whereas consuming music doesn’t entail situations that require your immediate actions toward an issue.
2. (Cassandra Talbot)
When I consider purchasing music, I usually focus on content, price, and packaging. If it's digital, then all that matters is price and content.
A vinyl of I Love You, Honeybear by Father John Misty
I'm beginning to collect vinyls and that's one of my fav albums of his so I couldn't resist it.
Alternative rock, pop punk, indie, 70s, 80s, 90s, early 2000s, and on and on and on
I have a Spotify premium account so that's my main mode of consumption. If I do buy music, it's always physical on either a tape, CD, or record. Usually I listen to music while on transportation, doing homework, studying, or when I need to relax.
I think the mainstream pop industry has lost its flair and now only produces catchy tunes. But, I still believe there are a lot of people out there who still value creating good music.
Some bands have helped me understand myself better, but otherwise they have not made a huge impact on me.
Any purchase has to be thoughtful as a college student so it's made me more conscious of my empty bank account.
I only support artists who aren't horrible people, so if the producers or artists are  generally decent or nice people then I'll buy their stuff.
Some bands and other artists create songs to raise money for certain charities or to raise awareness about current issues.
A MCR member I think wrote a song once about trans people to show support
N/A
N/A
Someone who takes responsibility for their actions. Someone who is conscious of their actions and the effect it may have on their fan base.
Yes because especially for adolescents they are role models.
Yes
N/A
I think a majority of people don't care if the artist is socially responsible, but I do think more people are caring. So the degree an artist is socially responsible may impact their sales.
Reading:
1. Authenticity is important to an artist’s efficacy in promoting social responsibilities because without appearing to be genuine with their good intentions, artists cannot obtain the support from their audience. A campaign will never be successful without the contribution from the audience. For example, an artist intends to donate a part of ticket revenue to a charity organization, but without fans wanting to attend the concert due to a lack of trust in the artist’s social responsibility, tickets won’t be sold sufficiently and the donating task will become challenging. Furthermore, authenticity helps build a firm image of the artist: the social responsibility isn’t only short-lived but will thrive to better society for many years to come. Without authenticity, there won’t be support in the long run, and any long-term plan won’t be fruitful. Authenticity is vital because it creates a connection between the artist and the audience, as well as emphasizing the determination of the artist to create good impacts as a result of previous personal experience. Authenticity affirms the truth behind intention, and demonstrates that the artist actually cares and relates deeply to the issue.
2. “[T]he authenticity of these socially responsible behaviors is enhanced where the cause is deemed to match the characteristics of the band or musician. For example, the American musician Macklemore was cited as being illustrative of a socially responsible artist based on his campaigning for equal rights and holding a ceremony to marry Gay and Lesbian couples as part of his Grammy Awards performance. As the musician experienced hostility at school as he was perceived to be homosexual, his promotion of equal rights reflects his own understandings and he is applauded for this behavior” (239-40)
3. I used to really admire Halsey for actively promoting feminism: she gave numerous inspiring speeches about how women should love their bodies and stop letting the media’s body objectification affect the way they perceive themselves. Her song also depicts women empowerment, and she never lets anyone control what she wants to do, including tour destinations or meeting fans. However, everything went downhill when she sang a soundtrack for “Fifty Shades Darker”. Many (including Halsey) argue that the series focuses on how women free themselves from submission to truly enjoy gratification in intimacy but personally, I don’t think so. Neither do a large portion of Halsey’s supporters. As a person who has always been supporting the power of women, it was a very disappointing experience to listen to her singing for a film that promotes abusive relationships. After this incident, I actually start questioning whether what she has been advocating was true, or authenticity never existed at all and they were only theoretical, shallow statements.
*Speaking about artists growing mainstream, here’s one that I’m constantly afraid her music won’t be as meaningful as she’s now receiving so much recognition. I’ve been supporting her ever since she was a 14-year-old who posted unfiltered songs on SoundCloud, and today she’s trending on YouTube. Her music is still great, but I’m just fearful. Here’s her latest song that I thought would be great to share with you.
