A Business Investment (FxM Body Swap)

Mason McKinley was sure he was going to be a famous actor someday- he just needed the world to realize it.

Growing up in his small midwestern hometown where he was the hottest guy around, it had felt like being the star was his birthright. The young actor hoped that one day a big shot producer would come in, see him, and cast him on the spot, but since that hadn't happened yet he spent his days fetching water bottles and chasing after lost tennis balls. Not exactly his Hollywood dream.

"It's good to see you again Ms. Grant," he lied through his pretty white teeth, and he was feeling generous so he threw in an extra lie for free. "You look lovely today. Is your hair different?"

It was a stupid question- as the head of some kind of beauty company the woman was always changing her look, in this case from a dark black perm to a platinum blonde bob -but Ms. Grant still let out a surprised gasp and tilted her head side to side as if she were modelling the latest fashion. It was not a good look, but Mason dug deep into his Stanislavski training and managed to keep a smile on his face.

"You like? I just had it done. I think it makes me look younger, don't you? If you're not careful, one of these days I'm going to snap you up!" Ms. Grant threw her head back and let out a stage giggle, and Mason bit his tongue so he wouldn't burst out laughing himself. An attempt at a seductive expression appeared on her face and she 'casually' reached over and gave Mason's bicep a less-than-innocent pat. "And please, I've told you a million times, call me Seraphina."

Your name is Susan, Mason thought. "Of course Seraphina," Mason said.

Her hand was still on his arm, one thumb trailing idly over the curve of his muscles, and Mason gave a polite nod before escaping to ready some equipment, peeking over his shoulder to confirm that Ms. Grant was staring at his tight butt when he bent over to pick up some tennis rackets. He smirked and made sure to arch his back to give her a little show before he straightened up- it never hurt to keep the clients happy.

Ms. Grant honestly wasn't that bad, but she was a herald of destruction, because if she was here, then The California Business Women's Association weren't far behind.

The California Business Women's Association was supposed to be an organization for high powered business women looking to network, but the meetings were really just an excuse for rich bitches to brag about their success and tear each other down… with a smile, of course. Mason thought of them as the Real Housewives of the Wall Street (never mind that Wall Street was on the far coast) and while he got a sick pleasure out of observing their gossip and backstabbing, they were one of his least favorite groups to work with.

Normally a hot piece of meat like Mason could make a killing off of a bunch of mostly single women over thirty, but Dominique Banks (pharmaceuticals CEO and undisputed alpha bitch of the group) made it damn near impossible for him to schmooze. A very public divorce several years ago had made Dominique into something of a misandrist and now she did her best to chastise and shame the other women whenever they tried to engage in any talk of men, let alone flirt with the cute hunk bringing them their towels.

(Mason assumed that was why Ms. Grant showed up early to objectify him as much as possible before Dominique was there to judge her for it.)

Dominique herself descended on the court a minute later with the rest of the ladies in tow, and soon the court was filled with women in expensive active gear (some with the tags still on) milling about and pretending to warm up for a few rounds of low intensity tennis. Mason busied himself offering to take care of coats and bags while also doing his best to eavesdrop on the latest gossip.

Currently, Dominique was complaining to a trio of women about a member of the group who seemed to be running late.

"I think it's irresponsible of her to be so tardy," Dominique said, pushing deeper into an impressive lunge- she was one of the few in the group who actually kept up with her personal trainer despite a busy schedule, something she loved to lord over the other women. "I'm starting to question if she should even be a member of the CBWA."

"Maybe she had a work emergency?" one of her companions offered, watching with mild interest as Dominique stretched her calves. "She did just get that big promotion."

"'Big promotion?'" Dominique scoffed and turned her nose up. "Be serious Lucille, she's a middle manager whose office happens to be on the top floor… or a few floors down from it I suppose." The shade drew a small titter out of the other women, and Dominique smirked. "We all have demanding jobs, but we still make time every month to come to these meetings because it's important for us to connect as women in the male-dominated professional world. We're a sisterhood! If we don't look out for each other, who will? Which is exactly why we need to make an example of her."

Mason had a pretty good idea who they were talking about. There was only one woman in the group who Dominique couldn't stand- coincidentally the only woman in the group who ever stood up to her. But before the young man could search the group for a head of red hair to see if he was correct, a voice boomed out, and everyone's eyes were drawn to a newcomer who was making their way onto the court.

"Sorry I'm late ladies!"

Like a scene from a movie, sauntering across the green pavement was one of the hottest guys Mason had ever seen. He was brown skinned with carefully coiffed black hair and the kind of face that Mason usually only saw in the castings for his modelling gigs- a striking appearance enhanced by the way his eyes burned an unnaturally bright, electric blue. Tall and broad, the tight grey jacket he wore did little to disguise the bulk of his build… and if the fit of his compression shorts was to be believed, he'd brought his own tennis balls to the court.

Mason's jaw dropped, and he nearly dropped a basket of tennis balls with it before he gathered his senses and caught himself at the last second. "Thanks for waiting," the man said, making his way towards the benches with a fancy (seemingly brand new) equipment bag bouncing on his hip. "It's been so busy at work with the new startup we're launching, but I managed to move some things around to make room at the last minute."

"I'm aware," the man gave a chuckle (he was looking at Mason like he thought Mason was an idiot, but somehow, condescension was a good look on him) and tossed his curly black hair. "And I'm a member of the group- Terry Walker. Some of my eggheads at the lab cooked up a new kind of body transferal device and I've been experimenting with it in the workplace. Didn't have time to switch back before the meeting, so I figured, why the hell not?" He winked and thumped a fist into his meaty pecs a few times. "Take the thing out for a spin."

Mason had a hazy recollection of getting a note from his boss about something that morning, probably this, but he was saved from having to apologize when Dominique shoved him out of the way.

"You are not Terry Walker," the woman snapped, squaring her legs and and raising her chin like a lioness preparing to protect her territory. "What the hell kind of stunt is this? Did Terry hire a stripper as some kind of joke?"

The man laughed a warm, rich laugh. "You're not the first person to say that but no, believe it or not I borrowed this body from one of the guys who works in my lab. Tariq or something like that? I can never keep track of these things." He kept an easy smile on his face and shrugged his broad shoulders, intentionally stretching his shoulders back to bare his impressive wingspan. "And I'm the real deal- they wouldn't have let me in if I couldn't prove it. I look good, right ladies?"

The man's arms came up into a double bicep flex and Mason didn't know if he should be jealous of the man's muscles (those peaks) or massively turned on by them. The women were having less trouble deciding what to do and many of them were beginning to to swoon, only to straighten their spines when Dominique shot them a withering look out of the corner of her eye.

She turned back around and drew herself up to her full height (she was the tallest woman of the group, but this man had several inches on her and it was clearly grinding her gears) and jabbed a finger at the alleged impostor.

"You can't seriously expect us to believe this nonsense," she scoffed, drawing a chorus of murmurs from the flock of ladies behind her.

A sly smile came to the man's lips. "What do you mean? This is that exciting new project that I've been working on that I posted about it in the organization's official Slack, remember?" One of his bushy eyebrows shot up and he eyed Dominique pointedly. "You've been reading the Slack, haven't you Dominique? I seem to recall you saying it's so important to stay updated- but I guess you've probably been too busy lately to keep up with what's going on with your CBWA sisters. All those patent lawsuits and meetings about alimony must take up so much of your time!"

The vicious barb made several of the women gasp, and even Mason felt a chill run down his spine. In the corner of Dominique's forehead, a vein was throbbing like it was about to burst, but the rest of her expression was frighteningly neutral. Then, her lips pressed into a snarl that tried to pass as a smile.

"Yes, it can be so time consuming being being the head of a company," Dominique said, voice dripping with venom. "You're so lucky you don't have to deal with all that stress Terry. And don't worry yourself about my alimony, I'm just glad I was at least married once unlike-"

The woman realized her mistake too late, and Terry Walker smirked triumphantly.

"No comment on the patent lawsuits?" Walker added, just to salt the wound, and then she brushed past Mason (who shivered at the momentary contact with her large, solid body) and flung her bag down on the benches.

"Now, since we're finally all here, are we just going to stand around talking, or are we going to play?" She hefted her tennis racket over her shoulder like it was a weapon and waved her hand at the group. "We'll start off with pairs, everyone partner up."

Pandemonium ensued as all of the women scrambled to grab Terry by the arm, and Dominique was practically steaming.

"Never mind, we're doing singles."

"You want our money?" One of the women asked, and Terry shrugged.

"I'm offering you all an investment opportunity. Isn't that the point of this group? To uplift each other?" She smiled across the table at Dominique, who for once kept her mouth shut and bowed her head. Terry sniffed triumphantly. "But I promise that this is a surefire win. Anyone interested can message me and I can set up an appointment so you can test the technology yourself- I'm sure the experience will uplift you like nothing else."

At that, she rose to her feet, allowing everyone to see that her tenacious rental dick was already half-hard again.

"Feel free to bring your own boys too, we've got lawyers and payment plans already drafted up. Pick someone you wanna be, and we can make it happen."

Then she walked away, her exit an unofficial signal to the other women that the meeting was now over, and everyone began to disperse. “My name is Eve Edwards and I work for MI6, but I’m sure Butcher has told you that already”, she says, turning to the room. At the mention of MI6 Frenchie opens his mouth but closes it with a snap when he sees Butcher’s eyes on him. 

“MI6 is part of the British Secret Intelligence Service and section 6 is the foreign intelligence service, meaning we only serve overseas. MI5 is our domestic counterpart in the UK. Scotland Yard first handled both cases but called in MI5 when they reviewed the CCTV footage.” Eve pauses and turns to pull out her laptop from her backpack and bring it over to the table. It hums to life as she flips open the lid and presses the power button. She id:s herself on the laptop’s fingerprint scanner and brings up a video file. Hughie leans in to look closer at the laptop’s sides; 

“Sorry, excuse me for interrupting, but I think, if you give me a second I can connect it to a bigger screen if you want” he says, motioning at the large PC monitor on the desk next to them. But Eve shakes her head, 

“Thanks, but it won’t connect, closed system for SIS equipment only”. 

“Oh” Hughie says, “that’s kinda cool actually”, squinting at the ports on the laptop. 

Eve full-screens the video and presses play, stepping back to let the others get closer to the screen. There’s no sound on the video but the image is clear and in colour. 

A man can be seen leaving a side street door leading on to an alley, rubbish bins lining the street. The man is well dressed in a suit and tie with an overcoat slung over his arm, a briefcase in one hand. The camera changes angle and follows him towards the entrance of a public car park building. He disappears for a brief second from view before the camera inside the car park shows him walking at an angle towards the second row of cars. Another man is seen getting out of a car in the first row, approaching him. The last few steps he takes at a run and launches himself against the first man, slamming them both into one of the concrete pillars holding up the roof of the garage, making them both fall to the ground. The second man is up fast onto his feet, grabbing the head of his victim and slamming it repeatedly against the pillar. It takes two impacts with the pillar for the man in the suit to go limp but his assailant continues to bash his head against the concrete four more times before unceremoniously letting go of the head and calmly walking away. The first man is left like a rag doll on the ground, blood pooling around his head. The camera changes angle again and the killer can be seen exciting the garage and walking towards the main road. The camera catches him again as he turns the corner and continues down the busy main road. The video speeds up until he reaches Earls Court Station, the bright Underground sign clear in the video. The man goes inside and taps through the turnstalls, down to the nearest platform and stands waiting calmly just behind the yellow line. As the underground train approaches he steps in front of it and immediately disappears from view as the front of the train hits his body. 

Eve leans forward and pauses the video. “That was the first one,” she says. 

“That looks like a simple ‘murder-suicide’ to me” MM says, looking over at Eve, “but I’m guessing it’s not that simple or you wouldn’t be here.” 

“That would be correct.” she replies as she clicks up another video file on her laptop. 

“So who’s the supe?” Butcher asks, “someone who can take on a tube train and walk away?” 

“That wasn’t the supe”, Eve says looking over at him. “That was James Cardwell, a 52 year old primary school teacher from Hammersmith in town to meet some friends for a birthday party at a pub nearby. Scotland Yard thought it was a murder-suicide and closed the case after informing his wife and finding out that he had been prescribed anti-depressents. Only problem is, he was prescribed them once and it was 32 years ago after his first girlfriend broke up with him at uni. Hardly a reason to bash a stranger’s head in on a Wednesday evening three decades later and then kill yourself.” 

She full-screens the second video, “This second video will make things clearer”. 

Kimiko taps Eve’s shoulder and motions at the notepad she’s scribbled on, “Scotland Yard?”

“Sorry”, Eve says, “Scotland Yard is the headquarters of the London Metropolitan Police. Like the NYPD. Scotland Yard is the name of the building their HQ is in”. 

Kimiko nods and Eve turns back to the laptop, pressing play on the second video, and stepping back. 

“This one is a bit more grim.”

The video is black and white but shows a garden, the backyard of an affluent looking home. A young girl, about 8 years old, is jumping on a trampoline that’s set up in a back corner. A middle aged man, presumably her father, is hovering around a lit barbeque. Tools for cooking are laid out on a counter next to it, tongs, spatula and a chef’s knife. An older man appears in frame and is greeted by the younger man, by the look of them it’s father and son. In the background the young girl stops jumping. The two men seem to be talking for a couple of minutes before the younger of the two hands over the spatula to his father and walks into the house and out of frame. The older man remains by the barbeque but waves at the young girl. She doesn’t wave back but climbs down from the trampoline and walks across the well kept lawn towards the man. Behind him is a large outdoor dining table with chairs set up. The girl walks over to the one nearest and picks it up, carrying it over to the barbeque and sets it down next to the man. He looks over and smiles at her, saying something and giving her a hand as she climbs on top of the chair and stands next to him. As he turns his attention back to the barbeque she grabs his throat and rips it out, blood, black in the video, shoots out over the barbeque. The man immediately keels over, his hands barely reaching his exposed windpipe before he’s bleeding out on the patio. The girl reaches down and picks up the chef’s knife, calmly slides the blade across her throat and falls off the chair as the blood starts pouring out of the deep cut. 

Eve pauses the second video and looks up at the team. Hughie looks pale and has backed several steps away from the laptop. MM looks grim and Butcher has his eyes fixed on Eve, a deep frown between his eyes. She looks up at him, 

“When Scotland Yard saw this they got in touch with MI5. A little bit out of their league, this sort of thing.”

“Ya don’t say” Butcher replies, still frowning. “How’d they connect it to the first murder?” 

“They didn’t. MI5 went through recent violent deaths, both open and closed cases and found it. And they spotted this”. Eve leans over the laptop and taps over to the first video. She moves the slider back to the beginning of the video, zooms in and points to one of the rubbish bins in the alley outside the car park. Among the heaped black rubbish bags they can just about make out the head of a person. They seemed to be wearing a hood over their head and a mask or a bandana pulled up to their eyes. Eve moves the video forward to the moment the killer is leaving the alley and pointed to the rubbish bin again. A shoe could be seen just at the corner of the screen, a dark green trainer, coming out of the rubbish bin. She moves the slider forward again and stops it, now the killer is standing on the platform waiting for the tube. Frenchie leans forward and points at the screen, “There, in the corner, the same green sneakers”, he says excitedly. 

“Exactly”, Eve says and tabs back into the second video and zooms in on the still frame and points to the screen. At the back of the garden, behind the garden wall, the shape of a person can be seen. Only head and shoulders can be seen above the wall but the black hood and mask over the face can be made out, even at a distance. 

“That’s the supe”, she says, looking over at Butcher. 

“ ‘Es’s controlling ‘em” Butcher growls, a deep furrow between his eyes. “But ‘ow?”

“We don’t know. Telekinesis perhaps, or neurological control, mind control. Part of my objective here in the US is to see if you can help us find out how he, or she, is controlling them. The other part is why.”

“Who were the people that were killed?” MM asks, motioning at the laptop. 

“First one was Sadiq Mohammad. A small time investment banker, not very successful. Certainly not successful enough to have powerful enemies that would hire a supe to assassinate him. The little girl was his granddaughter Arabella.” She dropped the second folder onto the table, it was a lot thicker. “He was deeply involved in the Tories, the British Conservative party. Had fingers in every pie, very much a part of the inner workings of the party. He certainly had powerful enemies but MI5 hasn’t found any real motive for a killing this brutal.”. 

Butcher picks up Byng’s file and flips through it, scowling at what he saw. 

“This geezer could’ve been killed for any number of reasons, he’s as bent as they come. Just work ya way down the list and you’ll find whoever hired this supe pretty soon”. He tosses the file back onto the table. “Why’d ya need us for this, eh?”

In order to pursue my learning of outdoor programs, I am studying Re-conceptualizing Outdoor Learning at Seneca College, which can help me better understand how to foster outdoor learning with families to experience our natural outdoors. The location is in Sheppard's Bush (Industry St.) is located in Aurora, Ontario, and has over three kilometers of nature trails and wildflowers everywhere, I used to go biking with my family and friends in the summer and fall. I remembered when we visited in the wintertime, the girl in the picture above collected some treasure from this park. We provided her with a little red bucket and a little shovel, and she picked up a pine needle. After that, she used the magnifier to observe the pine needle. This meaningful thought made me think about last week we went to the same location the park. But it was super warm this week, and the ice and snow were melting. We were so excited to see some ducks swimming in the little pond, and the girl collected a long stick to play with the water. It brought me to think back to when we walked here last time, the parent and our educators unconsciously expected the situation would happen in our outdoor program. Because we barely saw some natural ducks in the forest. And the way I saw this girl was really engaged with nature, she tried to speak “Da da, duck”. She was happy to express herself by watching ducks fighting and sharing with us something new for her. Besides this little bond, there was a long log laying down on the ground. The little girl wanted to walk on the log, her mom held her hands at first and let her walk all the way down. And she asked her mom to try walking on the log by switching the role. There were some potential skills were developed here, such as physical, emotional, cognitive, language and literacy, problem-solving, etc. The way how I saw the little girl’s abilities and competencies which are reflected me on how to design our early learning environments with the families in the workplace. This makes me think back to how we did our outdoor program before, we focused more on what we can bring some materials for children to go outside, and what they can do, what the weather would be like, etc. After I learned from this course we should focus more on what competencies and abilities they had already than what they need. Some little things from nature can make them feel satisfied, appreciate, and curious.

After reviewing what I have learned from outdoor learning and my hands-on experience involves recognizing the value of natural environments as spaces for children's exploration, play, and learning. It is important to appreciate the richness and diversity of the natural world and to provide opportunities for children to engage with it in meaningful ways. By emphasizing the benefits of outdoor learning, we can encourage children to develop a deeper sense of appreciation and gratitude for the natural world. This can help them to better understand the relationship between humans and the environment and to develop a greater sense of learning from the natural environment. It is also important to recognize that children do not necessarily need a lot of toys or fancy equipment to engage with the natural world. Simple materials such as sticks, stones, bugs, and leaves can provide rich opportunities for exploration and creativity. The lenses we use to view the world are shaped by our experiences, values, education, and cultural background. The kids loved paddle boating in the private pond and roasting marshmallows over the campfire. They enjoyed the climbing structure, sandbox, and hammocks. The sleeping cabins have phenomenal AC and are clean and pleasant. The lofts were especially fun. The kitchen is well equipped and even has 2 fridges and freezers.

This getaway ticked all the boxes- back-to-nature enough to relax, but still modern enough to be comfortable, simple enough that you don't have to worry about kids messing up the decor, but still decorated tastefully.

Finished the book. I'll give it 4 ⭐️. Loved the beginning, but it got slower with longer chapters. Still fun, though. I love the author's risky choices with characters. Steve and Viv where real cute ☺️ Overall, I love this book; it reminds me of why I like reading.
