38. I lost the baby

She’s beenacting weird all day.

Normally,Ken would have stuck to his desk and worked on his thesis, and so would Miyako,while Daisuke, already finished with his business degree is out working in hisfood truck.

Today isdifferent because Miyako has been pacing the flat restlessly, and not like she’sjust pondering a particularly hard programming problem. Ken is pretty sure thathe has seen her wipe her eyes as if she’s been crying but she just won’t talkto him.

He’s tried.He’s basically given up on writing another chapter today anyway, so he’s spenthis entire day trying to get Miyako to fucking talk tohim… No such luck.

He’sknocked on her door during one of the brief periods of time when she’s actuallysitting down at her desk, though he can hear no typing at all. She doesn’tanswer.

He’s triedto intercept her while she’s doing her pacing, but, even though she may havebeen talking then, she hasn’t really said anything. Justthat he shouldn’t worry and that she’s fine. She’s not and he does.

Wormmonsays she might be on her period, and Ken nearly chokes on his tea. When askedwhere he heard that phrase, especially when used in suchcircumstances, Wormmon answers that he heard from Veemon who has it fromDaisuke, and Ken decides that, once he gets Miyako to talk, he will also haveto have a stern chat with Daisuke.

Still, itdoesn’t help assuage his worries, considering that he’s known Miyako for yearsnow, and she has never acted like that before, and she’sfairly certain he’s interacted with her before when she was… well, on herperiod. He really needs to figure out what’s appropriate for a Digimon to knowabout human anatomy.

It’s clearthat Miyako is in distress, and he wants to help her more than anything. Shehas always been there for him whenever he’s sad (and that still happens farmore than he’d like despite the meds) but how can he help when she activelyavoids him?

Is itsomething he’s done? Has he hurt her feelings? Is she upset with him and that’s why she won’t talk? Ken’s thoughts begin togo in circles and he spends an hour worrying that their friendship might beover, that the great clash between them is coming, like he always feared itwould, but deep down, he knows that this is mainly his anxiety talking, andthat kind of thought process isn’t really helpful right now.

At 4pm hegives up figuring it out by himself, and so he corners Hawkmon in the kitchen.

“I’m sorry,Ken-san, but I cannot possibly betray Miyako’s trust-“

He stopsthe Digimon before he can say much else. “I don’t want you to tell me why she’sso upset. She doesn’t want to tell me, and… I respect that. But why? Why won’tshe tell me? Can’t I help her in some way? Or will I hurt her more if I try?”

Hawkmonseems conflicted. It’s clear that he doesn’t know how much he can say withoutsaying too much, but, Ken thinks, he really looks like he would like to say alot.

“She’s nottelling you because she thinks you will be sad and she doesn’t want to burdenyou with it right now.”

Ken biteshis lips. He should have thought of that. Of course he’s seen as too freaking vulnerable to be of much use to his partners.

“She wantsto wait until Daisuke comes home so she can tell you both at the same time.”

“…okay.”

Ken doesn’tknow what to think. He’s glad that Miyako is planning to tell both of them what’sbothering her, but he’s concerned that she doesn’t trust him enough to tell himright now. That she thinks she will burden him with whatever it is that putsher in such distress when all he wants to do is help her.

Eventually,he just simply sits down next to her.

Miyako’s curledup on the sofa and she’s crying so much she hasn’t noticed him come closer butshe he sits up with a start when she feels his weight next to her. “Ken-chan!”She frantically wipes her eyes but it’s no use; she’s still crying.

“I…goback to your room, please… I don’t want to talk…”

“I know.”

She staresat him. “What?”

“I know youdon’t want to talk right now so I made you tea.” He points at the tray with akyushuu and two tea bowls next to it, which he’s placed on the low table infront of them.

She keepsstaring.

“I justwant you to know that I’m here for you even if you don’t want to talk. Just…you should know that you never have to cry alone, okay?”

She keepsstaring for another second but then she all but collapses into his arms,sobbing. He wraps his arms around her and holds her tight, rubbing her backoccasionally, telling her that it’s going to be okay even though he still doesn’tknow what’s wrong and if it’s actually going to be okay, but he says itnonetheless, hoping that it will comfort her.

They staylike this for what seems like hours, letting the tea grow cold. Hawkmon hasjoined them, but he keeps a polite distance. Wormmon not so much – the anxiouscaterpillar is clinging to Ken’s ankles as a way of showing support.

Eventually,a key is turned in their door and Daisuke waltzes in.

“We boughtdonuts and cakes and melonpan and other sweet stuff,” Veemon chants excitedly,running into the living room, but he stops short when he sees the four of themhuddled on the sofa.

Daisukecomes inside only a moment later, a cheery smile on his face. “Hey guys! Ibrought lots of good stuff for dinner, and- holy shit, what’s going on?”

The smilevanishes and Daisuke looks mostly puzzled – probably because Miyako is the onecrying, not Ken, Ken thinks drily.

Still, itonly takes Daisuke a second to adapt and he plonks himself down next to Miyako,putting an arm around her shoulders. Daisuke’s and Ken’s arms touch now and thethree of them just sit like that for a while until Miyako stirs.

“Hi,” shemurmurs as she sits up between her boyfriends.

“Hi!”Daisuke greets her, still concerned, but with a smile. “You’re sure happy tosee me.”

Sheresponds with a weak smile and another hiccup-y sob. Daisuke takes her righthand in his; Ken takes the other.

“So, what’vethe lot of you been up to while I was gone?” Daisuke asks casually, but he doesglance towards Ken without Miyako noticing. Ken just shakes his head. He stillhas no idea what’s going on except that, clearly, Miyako is deeply affected byit.

“…guessit’s time to tell you what’s up…” she whispers in a voice so unlike Miyakothat it almost physically hurts Ken. Maybe she’s right about not telling himwhile Daisuke was still out. He already feels like he’s about to cry.

“…I wasgoing to tell you two this weekend… I’ve been feeling weird lately so I wentto see a doctor…”

Ken feelsqueasy. No, please, she can’t be ill…

“She toldme I was pregnant.”

“But that’sgr-“ Daisuke has misjudged the situation, and Ken quickly pokes him in the sideto stop him talking. This is not where this is going.

“Buttoday… today I was bleeding…” She’s crying again. “I lost the baby.”

“Shit,”Daisuke’s reaction is honest and painful. He stares at her in shock, then movesto hug her but she shakes him off. Ken hasn’t really processed it yet but hecan already feel the tears starting to come. He doesn’t know what to say.

Daisuke,unable to hug Miyako, reaches across and puts his hand on Ken’s shoulderinstead.

Miyakobends foward, arms wrapped around herself, shoulders shaking badly. “I’m so…I’msorry…” she breathes out between sobs, and that’s all it takes for both Kenand Daisuke to get moving. They bump their heads together by accident, but Kenignores the pain, and so does Daisuke, and soon they’ve got their arms wrappedaround Miyako and each other.

They areall crying, and Ken can’t help but feel bad because the Digimon are unsettledand don’t really understand, but he can’t do much for them – he’s busy holdingMiyako, and crying himself, trying to figure out what he feels about this.

Eventually,Miyako calms down and sits up. She sniffles and starts to get up. Both Ken andDaisuke grab her hands to hold her back but she shakes her head. “It’s okay, I’mgoing to take a shower guys…” She smiles at them through her tears. “I’mokay. I just need some time alone now… Thank you for- just thank you. I loveyou.”

They bothsay it back, but, to Ken, it feels like it isn’t enough. Still, he lets herwalk off to the bathroom. Daisuke stays behind with him, and Ken moves closerto him. Daisuke pulls him into a hug, kissing his temple. They don’t talk.

Theatmosphere is gloomy in the flat for a couple of days after that, and wheneverthey go to bed, it’s not unusual that at least one of the three is crying.

Miyako and Ken are both in the kitchen, both holding mugs of coffee. Ken looksat her uncertainly. He’s bad at this. He’s bad at comforting people, especiallywhen he feels like grieving himself, but he still wants to try.

“Miyako-chan…”

She looksup with a sad smile on her face.

“How areyou…?”

She shrugs.“I’m going to be okay,” she says. “It’s not like any of us are actually readyfor a baby, right? I mean, you and I are still studying, and Daisuke’s, well,Daisuke… I mean… I want children at some point, but now… it just wasn’tthe right time…” She sounds less resigned than she probably wants to, andmuch closer to tears than is comfortable.

“Doesn’tmean you’re not sad,” he states quietly. Her smile turns a little bitter.

“No,” shesimply says.

He movescloser to her so that they’re both leaning against the counter, arm to arm.

“How areyou?”

“Me?”

“Yes, you.It could have been your child, you know.”

He looks at her. “I thought it would have been my child no matter what. Giventhe terms of our relationship.”

Sheobserves him, pondering, then nods. “Yeah. I wasn’t sure you’d actually feelthat way if it…ever came to this. But yeah.”

He wants toask how she could think that he’d care whether any child they will havetogether is his or Daisuke’s when it’s going to be their child regardless, andhe couldn’t care less about genetics, but he doesn’t.

He justnudges her arm gently. It’s all he can do to provide comfort. He’s not verygood at this.

“I’m sorry,you know.”

“No! You don’tneed to be sorry-“ He extends an arm and pulls her close to him. He wants toshout at her that she shouldn’t feel guilty but she already shakes her head.

“I’m sorryI didn’t tell you right away.”

He shrugs. “Hawkmontold me you didn’t want me to freak out… you were probably right; I wouldhave been pretty useless. I’m sorry.” He gives her a squeeze, and she puts hermug on the counter and leans into his embrace. He puts his own mug down andwraps both arms around her. Digiweek 2022 Drabbles/Ficlets - Red Shades Filling Up My Heart

One year ago, @dutchforstrangers​​ had decided to dedicate the entirety of Digiweek to a lovely little polyamorous OT3 fanfiction with the title “Shades of Red”. Even if I went into Digiweek 2022 pretty much unprepared, I’m still aiming to pay homage to the story by taking a look at how things may have developed afterwards...

Chapter 1: Beginning

Summary: When Taichi gets invited to a mysterious Valentine’s Day date in a hotel by Mimi on behalf of some kind of secret admirer, he’s suspicious. After weeks and months of unfulfilled pining, confused feelings and fear of rejection, he is greeted with a surprise that may change his life completely. That is, if he is willing to take both, the apology and an offer he couldn’t even have dreamt of...

The curtains of the slightly opened hotel room window were fluttering swiftly, a soft flicker of candle light accompanied the atmosphere.

  A romantic scenery, calm and gentle – hadn’t it been for the sudden yelp of pain coming from one of the three people sitting at the dining table.

  „Did you just pinch yourself?” Sora asked, unable to hold back a chuckle while Taichi poked the red spot at his right hand.

  “Yeah, I did… Because all of this is still… Incredibly disorienting,” he replied slowly, still trying to collect and process his thoughts, as his glance switched between Sora to his right – and Koushirou to his left. Both redheads were giving him serene smiles, a view he hadn’t seen in person for what felt like an eternity. And even if he had wanted to, he couldn’t have seen himself spending Valentine’s Day like this. With them. The two people he had isolated himself from. Who genuinely meant the world to him. “Like… Are you telling me that all of this was Mimi’s idea?”

  The moment Mimi had showed up at his door, handing him an invitation letter and asking him to dress ‘nicely’ for the occasion, he already should have known that this wouldn’t turn out to be a ‘normal date’. But in the end, he had gone with it, giving whatever she had set him up for a chance.

  “No, not at all,” Sora took over again, taking a – comparably – big sip from her wine glass. “We were the ones who wanted to approach you on Valentine’s Day, talking with you about… Everything.”

  Taichi swallowed. ‘Everything’ did sound like a huge deal to him. And what a year it had been…

  “But you did tell her about it, right?,” he kept pressing and this time, it was Koushirou who snickered lightly.

  “We didn’t actually have to tell her anything, because… She knew just by looking at us.”

  “She’s one to have a sixth, seventh and eighth sense when it comes to the love life of others,” Sora smiled, sounding as if she had just assigned Mimi to be the honorary third holder of the Crest of Love, after Miyako and herself. “She just came up with sending a letter to make it a little bit more...”

  “Mysterious.”

  Both redheads exchanged a knowing glance and Sora emptied her glass.

  “Even if I have to admit that we were both rather… Impatient about it. Today, I mean.”

  “Huh…,” Taichi mused, eyes now focusing on the empty plate in front of him. They still hadn’t gotten around to talk about the elephant in the room and he absolutely didn’t know whether he could address it directly or not. How many times had he hoped for an opportunity like this – and how many times had he just discarded his thoughts as a silly little fantasy? Now that he had both Sora and Koushirou right in front of him, now that they had taken the step towards him and not the other way around… What was that supposed to tell him? And so, all he managed to say out loud was: “I still don’t understand.”

  “Oh, we could tell,” Sora still sounded soft and empathetic, a light blush forming on her cheeks, a warm contrast to her auburn hair getting illuminated by the candle light. “You must have assumed that we have been dating each other for some time now, haven’t you?”

  “Well… Yeah? With all the traveling and dancing and… Kissing.” The journey to Spain, the whispering, the smiles – the way they had ended up kissing each other in the most drunken state he had ever seen them in. Taichi could have named a million little details – but that would have required him to admit just how carefully he had always watched them. From afar. “This has been going on for a while and it just felt… I felt…”

  “Like a third wheel? We never meant to do that, but…”

  “Admittedly, we must have been rather dense about it ourselves,” Koushirou concluded, eyes firmly set on Taichi. However, the fingers of his left hand had started to play around with one of the rose petals on the table – rather nervously. “While creating and improving the app for Sora-san’s fashion design and us traveling to various sites together, it should have given a lot of people the wrong impression. Especially Mimi-san…”

  “Koushirou-kun, it wasn’t that much of a wrong impression after all, don’t you think?”

  Hearing that, Taichi’s eyes were automatically drawn towards Sora���s right hand, which had sneaked across the table to touch Koushirou’s left. Gently grazing one another, causing Koushirou to drop the petal, softly intertwining his with Sora’s fingers, eyes locking – and for Taichi’s heart to pound a little faster.

  Oh, how he had craved for them…

  “… Like I just said, we were dense about it,” Koushirou grinned, soft scarlet on his cheeks complementing his maroon hair, as he sought Taichi’s glance once more. “I never claimed to be an expert in love matters, but… Even I noticed that we must have pushed you away, Taichi-san. And… Considering how I never believed things would ever work out in my favour, I never gave it a second thought.”

  “What do you mean by ‘it’, Koushirou?”

  Taichi’s throat felt awfully dry – even more so when Koushirou’s free right hand made its way to touch his left. Index and middle finger caressing the back of his hand. Never had a touch felt this torn between courage and shyness to him.

  “… My feelings. For you. And for Sora-san.”

  “We just recently came to terms with it, to be honest. We met quite a few times to develop a masterplan, which all led us to tonight… And along the way, we had to face a lot of suppressed feelings,” Sora elaborated – as she moved her chair a little bit closer to him as well.

  “Suppressed feelings, huh…”

  So subtle, yet the heat in his body had just increased tenfold. Especially when Sora’s left hand reached for his right one as well now, palm tenderly covering it.

  “We have grown so familiar with each other… Koushirou-kun and me. It all felt so natural, but we both also realized that we may have… Tried to console each other over not being honest with ourselves. Because you were always there, Taichi – and we never even hoped to take the risk to…” Sora’s hand closed around Taichi’s more tightly now, as if to reassure not only him, but also herself. “Move towards you.”

  “Or each other, for that matter,” Koushirou added and Taichi could sense that he was squeezing both his and Sora’s hands equally. “At least not consciously.”

  “So that means…” Taichi swallowed again, losing himself in the sight of the candle light mirrored in their eyes, feeling more connected to them than ever before – physically and emotionally. “In the end, you were pining just as much as I was, huh?”

  “… Without even knowing it,” Sora whispered and sighed.

  “The kiss must have been the icing on the cake. And let me assure you, we both wanted to apologize for making you suffer through it, but haven’t been able to.”

  “No, it wasn’t like that!” Taichi interrupted Koushirou’s apology, making both him and Sora blink quickly.

  “What?”

  “Yes, sure, I was shocked and in that very moment I probably felt like the world was ending, but…” With that, he was finally able to take initiative himself, turning his palms around to hold each of the redheads’ hands respectively, squeezing them with emphasis. “In hindsight, it was also a nice view. And as bitter as I may have been, I would have come to terms with it eventually and… Wish you two just the best.”

  “But that’s where we realized that things couldn’t stay the same.”

  “Because we knew that… There was a reason why it didn’t feel completely right,” Sora mused quietly, finally seeming ready to open up her heart to him. “Not only did I hurt my oldest and best friend in that moment while still enjoying that kiss a lot… But I also felt so much regret and… Craved so much more. I simply couldn’t get you out of my head afterwards, for days, weeks… And then I suddenly knew: You had never really left it in all these years.”

  “I felt basically the same,” Koushirou admitted, sighing deeply as if to get rid of a lot of unwanted weight. “What started as drunk teasing was quite an eye-opener – for all of us, I assume. Because we could never have obtained happiness at the expense of dragging you away. Not only that… It was that kind of longing that made me see that I was tired of myself and the way I kept running away.”

  Even with his own heart having swollen twice in size, Taichi knew it wasn’t the right moment – but he still would have liked to just kiss both of them. Quickly. Deeply. Until the end of time.

  “Koushirou-kun did a lot of research afterwards and… I guess you’ve had a talk with Hikari-chan about bisexuality and polyamorous relationships yourself?”, Sora giggled, finally making Taichi let out a loud laugh himself. Of course they would have talked to Hikari as well, as she had been the one to encourage him to follow his heart in the first place, no matter how impossible everything had seemed back then. Barely two months ago…

  “She’s pretty good at catching the gist… Just like Mimi…”

  “So, what we’re trying to say is…”, Sora started once more, nodding towards Koushirou, who returned the gesture eagerly, before both of them faced Taichi with all honesty they were able to gather. “We want to apologize… But at the same time, we also don’t want things to end with just a make-up-dinner.”

  “If you can forgive us for what has happened… For the waiting and second-guessing and… Miscommunication… And if all our assumptions are correct…”

  “We want to ask you, Yagami Taichi, if you would like for tonight to be a beginning.”

  Taichi’s mind had gone completely and utterly blank, the heart pounding had overshadowed every clear thought. He knew he had to take this chance, there was no way he was misreading the room again – and there was also no way he would back off again.

  “… With you?,” and so he took the gamble, absolutely unwilling to let go of either hand in his own.

  “With both of us,” Koushirou continued and Sora finished: “Together.”

  “… That is… If you still feel the same way about us.”

  “Like we feel about you… And each other. Even if it took us way too long to see it.”

  Taichi had always adored either of them for their own senses of braveness – but in this second, he also knew, more than ever before, that he’d take them with their insecurities as well. After all, he knew better than anyone else in the world what it felt like.

  “What do you believe I’m feeling?”, he asked gently, obviously catching both of them off guard, as they both hesitated, various shades of red covering their faces.

  “… You said that you loved us,” Sora almost stumbled over her own words, coughing loudly and Koushirou wasn’t any better;

  “In a non-platonic way. And we… Reciprocate these feelings.”

  “A lot. That’s where the candles and rose petals are coming from, by the way. We love you, Taichi…”

  “And we want to be yours, if you accept us.”

  Hearing those heartfelt confessions of love, Taichi breathed in and out deeply, a wide, silly smile plastered on his lips. He still couldn’t believe this was real and not one of those hundreds of dreams he had dreamt in the past. But the warmth in his chest, the openness of their glances and words, the sweaty palms holding onto his own, unwilling to let him slip away…

  It had all been worth it.

  “That’s what I’ve been wanting to hear for such a long time… You have no idea… Just… Try to be a bit less formal next time, okay? For a beginning… It’s been more than enough though.”

  And he was more than ready to choose and embrace his own personal happiness. With both of them.

Note: In my 02 semi canon compliant A.U.s, I often headcanon Ken as Bi{sexual} and/or Polyamorous, and Daisuke as some form of overall Queer. {Daisuke may also be headcanon’d as Polyamorous by me, depending on the A.U. I’m using for Daisuke.} However, in the fic I mention here, it is currently unfinished, and going through heavy revising. The original story was plotted and half-written long before Tri even debuted, much less “Kizuna” and “The Beginning”. Ken and Miyako are not quite ‘together’ yet, as the 02 Chosen have yet to graduate high school, but will soon, as they are very close to their final year of high school (taking place before the year 2012 in Digimon + 02 series canon). In this A.U., Daisuke and Ken are also not quite “together” yet, and neither has quite admitted any feelings for each other yet, but Ken in particular may still be “feeling” things around this point onwards...

(Currently, it is being heavily revised to see if my headcanons line up with what “The Beginning” eventually throws at me, so I hopefully won’t have to make too many more adjustments to its own timeline or my other headcanons.)

A/N!: Bear with me, 'cause this was a pain to write. Simply because the prompt 'crossover' was so hard to me... Couldn't quite fit it into the story, but thanks to a little talk with @earlgreymon I could give it a twist. So it has two interpretations of the prompt/word crossover. Hope I did it kind of right... Get ready for the Tumblr fandom references though!! Happy readings ;)

Some days are worth celebrating, even days that are just ordinary weekend days.

It was the end of January and Miyako and Mimi teamed up to throw a party in order to celebrate Miyako before she would cross over to the, as Mimi described it, “party-less motherhood”. Miyako had burst into tears when Mimi had said that out loud, not ready to take care of a child and touched by the fact Mimi wanted to throw a party with her. Miyako was even more touched when Mimi suggested a theme party, making her cry even harder.

Of course Taichi wouldn’t have known this as it was for Hikari. She had gladly told him how it all went down before she handed him his invitation. He looked at the card, a golden lightning bolt reflecting light in his sensitive eyes.

“Harry Potter?” Taichi guessed based on that lightning bolt, without opening the card. Hikari replied with a nod.

He didn’t knew Miyako all that well, but he knew her good enough to know that she was way too far into the Harry Potter fandom. Stories about her dragging down Ken and Daisuke to cosplay parties, her terrorizing Tumblr with her essay long theories and so called ‘headcanons’, the worn out books she owned and her having movie marathons with Hikari were stories very well known to not only Taichi, but basically everyone else.

As much as he always rolled his eyes regarding Miyako’s passionate Harry Potter outbursts, he also had it in common with her. Not with Harry Potter, but fandoms. Secretly blogging on Tumblr, or actually reblogging, reading headcanons and theories about his favorite characters from his favorite animes. He even had a period where he made edits and gif-sets after soccer games, secretly cheering whenever the soccer fandom on Tumblr appreciated his contributions through likes and reblogs. Thinking back to that time, he remembered Koushiro helping him with how to use certain computer software to create the edits and gifs.

“Is Koushiro invited too?” Taichi blurted out by simply thinking about Koushiro. This gave Hikari all the reasons to raise her eyebrow to him and chuckle.

“Yes,” she said, “and so is Sora-san. You know Taichi, this could be the perfect moment to work on some of that new year’s resolutions.” Hikari winked.

He didn’t want to take her seriously, but he couldn’t help but to think she had a point… In the last few weeks he had looked up things about polyamory on Google and even Tumblr, and he had to admit it all sounded very intriguing. It shocked him how happy he felt reading about the meaning behind it and reading experiences from polyamorous people. As if someone understood him on a level he hadn’t quite understood himself yet. He had come to terms with polyamory being a potential way of succeeding in his love and sex life. The hardest thing was confessing to ‘those two’. And counting from new year’s resolution one to two, the next would be that said confessing. Only thinking about it made him sweat in anticipation.

Eventually Taichi had to cave in, Hikari taking him to different shops to gather an outfit for him, because a good theme party wouldn’t be a theme party without a costume. Hikari thought it would be best for him to dress up as Harry Potter himself. “I mean isn’t courage both of your themes?” was what she had said. Hikari also addressed Sora had once said that Gryffindor ruby looked good on him. Well, Taichi thought to himself, it did look good on Sora herself. But he would be lying saying the compliment wasn’t flattering.

A few days later and Taichi found himself walking through the doors of a venue Mimi had hired for the party, walking in some kind of super classy rip off of the real Hogwarts castle. His eyes grew big, thinking for a moment he wasn’t in Japan but in the United Kingdom. Until a happy Miyako basically jumped on him yelling “PASSWORD” into his ear. She was dressed up as the fat lady who guarded the door to the Gryffindor dormitory, because of the belly obviously, a wineglass with what he guessed was fake wine in hand.

She definitely didn’t need alcohol to act the way she did, already high on pregnancy hormones. But Taichi did need the drink. Badly. Especially after seeing Koushiro and Sora.

He had his mind set on confessing to them, or at least telling them there was something stinging him. But as soon as he caught a glimpse of their red hair accompanied by the same Gryffindor red and golden he was sporting too, he lost it. So he decided to dodge them whenever he had the chance, watching them from a distance, acting as if he was constantly occupied.

Avoiding them the whole night proved to be hard though.

“Taichiiii!” Sora’s -dressed up as Hermione- voice eventually came from behind him. He turned around, meeting her eyes. “Or should I say Harry? You really made that mess on your head work for you.”

“Hey Sora…” his voice cracked, nerves kicking in hard. She must have noticed him tensing up as she stepped closer to him, bridging the gap, one of her feet almost on top of his and her forehead so close it almost touched his lips. One of her hands found its way to his chest, gliding up to his shoulder where she pinched him a bit too hard. Taichi could feel his face heat up fiercly.

“What’s up? You look so tensed.”

“And you seem so… drunk?” He countered seeing Sora’s eyes all big.

“I’m not drunk…!” She exclaimed stepping back, with that withdrawing her hand from him. “I might have drank a little bit too much—”

“You can leave the ‘little bit’…”

“… from that ‘liquid luck’ potion, but I’m not drunk.”

Taichi had to stifle a laugh, thinking it was kind of cute to see her like that. It made his heart skip a beat, remembering how much he had missed talking to her. “Fine. Tipsy then,” he caved in.

“Tipsy,” she giggled back, “that’s a funny word,” clearly showing she had drank too much.

Before Taichi could respond another voice came. “There you are—” Of course Koushiro -dressed up as Ron- had found his way to them and Taichi suddenly couldn’t remember when it was the last time the three of them were this close together. “Ah! Taichi-san.”

“You also look… happy.” He sheepishly told Koushiro, his gaze falling on the drink in Koushiro’s hand.

“Yes,” Koushiro smiled, “This ‘love potion’ is brewed quite good I have to say. Here, you can have the rest. I already had more than enough.”

Koushiro’s unfinished ‘love potion’ was pressed into Taichi’s hand before he knew it, the strong smell immediately deep up into his nose. He smirked to himself wanting to make a comment on Koushiro being tipsy too.

“Watch out Taichiiii,” but Sora was quicker and really good in stretching the last syllable of his name, to Taichi marking her downfall into being the drunkest he had ever seen her, “before it makes you fall in love with us.”

That caught him off guard. Like many times before he could feel and hear his heartbeat pounding in his ears, excitement and fear rushing through his body, the smell of the drink in his hand now making him nauseous. They had proved him multiple times they were really good in catching him off guard, but this was a next level. If he didn’t watch out the cup in his hand would be squished and the contents would be spilled all over his robe. He swallowed, knowing he had to act quickly to lose some of the tension building and building.

“As in in love with the both of you…?”

Real smooth Yagami, Taichi thought to himself, mentally facepalming himself while physically downing the drink in his hand in one go. He could feel the alcohol burning on his tongue and in his throat, unable to properly swallow it.

“Why not?! Sounds fun!” Sora said sounding way too excited, probably because of the booze. Somehow it sounded genuine to him as well, making him choke on the remaining alcohol in his mouth. “Don’t you think so Kou…?” Sora turned her head towards Koushiro.

“I would be lying if I said it wouldn’t intrigue me, but that might be the consequence of the alcohol absorbed by my body.”

Taichi truly couldn’t believe his ears. He was the one who had to confess, right? Not Koushiro… nor Sora… It was as if they stood on a crossing path, he on one side and they on the other, facing each other. And now, slow but steady, they were walking towards one another, meeting in the middle.

Stuck in his own head, their voices turned vague and far away. He thought about how the three of them had always sticked together. Like a dynamic trio. Like Harry, Ron and Hermione.

“Quite the coincidence the three of us dressed up as the dynamic trio from the Harry Potter series, isn’t it Taichi-san?” He could hear Koushiro say, pulling Taichi out of his head.

A shiver started on Taichi’s lower back and quickly crept upwards to his neck, leaving a trail of goosebumps along the length of his spine. As if they were thinking exactly what he himself was thinking, but was unable to say out loud. They were completely messing with his head. Just like they did when celebrating Christmas. Like they did in Spain. Like they did every freaking night in his dreams, not to mention the dreams he had during the day. They had been messing with him since the beginning… Frustration high, the thoughts made him nauseous again, but the alcohol on the other hand more bold. Courage rising...

“You two know Ron and Hermione end up together right?” Taichi asked with a façade, safely hidden behind the mask of Harry Potter. It was always easier to say or do things pretending to be someone else. In this case a someone else who unlike Taichi himself wasn’t in love with his best friends.

Seeing Sora smirking and enthusiastically nod in agreement, Taichi wasn’t sure how he said what he had said, the alcohol making his head now dizzier and dizzier. Meanwhile Koushiro had set for another kind of agreement. “Yes they do. Sora-san and I are aware.”

Between the three of them Koushiro definitely sounded most in control. Though to Taichi it remained unclear what he exactly meant and anxiety kicked in. The courageous Gryffindor trait he had felt for a second disappearing into thin air.

“Actually…” Sora started, a mischievous grin now on her face. “We could demonstrate you Taichi...”

Sora's gaze fell shyly to the ground while Koushiro just looked at her, slowly turning his head first. His body following suit, a bit clumsy. And within just split seconds Sora suddenly turned towards Koushiro as well, he catching her in his arms while her arms got squeezed between her and his body. Her hands cupping his face in the best way possible. And in a way Taichi had forever thought was absolutely impossible, their lips locked.

Their lips locked…

He had been anticipating on confessing to them for quite some time. Taichi had been able to avoid them for a long time, but right now they were unavoidable, kissing right in front of his nose. With all his might he tried to prevent his jaw from dropping too low. Thinking back to Hikari’s Harry Potter movie marathons with Miyako, he recognized how Koushiro and Sora imitated the Ron and Hermione kissing scene from the last movie. And just like how Harry could feel the destruction of the horcrux in that scene, Taichi could feel the destruction of his heart.

For as far as he knew he had to be the one to confess. He had to be the one to cross, to walk the longest distance towards them. Not the other way around. He felt responsible for all of this. They wouldn’t have kissed if he wasn’t in love with them, would they? He was the one who provoked it with his stupid feelings. And so he felt responsible for the mess.

With the alcohol kicking in real hard, guilt towards them and the responsibility heavy on his shoulders, wanting to cross the largest distance, Taichi’s mind started crossing. His body tensed up, anticipating to move, as they parted from each other, giggling like they had just done something forbidden. And he couldn’t hold it in any longer.

“I’m in love with the both of you!” Taichi blurted.

The love potion he had drunk worked, the words simply escaped him like both a relieve and a pain. It caught their attention anyway, four big eyes filled with disbelieve staring at him, their mouts gaping.

“Taichi-san we were joking…” Koushiro started matter-of-factly, calmness leading. It didn’t help, panic setting in as Taichi repeated the words he had said in his head.

“Were we though?” Sora questioned, slowly shifting her stare from Taichi to Koushiro. Those words were her spell casted by an invisible wand, petrifying Taichi in his place. He could feel his stomach turning upside down again, his heart circulating the excitement and anxiety to every corner of his tensed body. Before his body would either explode or stop working, for all he knew, he had to move. He had to run.

And so he turned around, running away from them, carrying the shame with him like a cloak he wished made him invisible. He could hear them say his name in the distant, but turning back around would be his deathspell.

He had crossed and so did they. But instead of meeting in the middle, the three of them had passed each other by going too fast and too far. And he knew it wasn't meant to be. Not in the way motherhood was meant to be for Miyako, she crossing the path towards a clear destination. While Taichi would only cross to a place unknown, shame and ignorance overruling the courageous Gryffindor ruby.

KOUKARI I love you

I basically have two sets of headcanons or two moments of their lives when I see this happening and yes, they can both happen in the same canon universe, they just need to avoid the Epilogue because The Epilogue is Sacred #BlessTheEpilogue I love you Epilogue

Things in common in both scenarios:

1. Taichi is really cool with this. I usually like to think of him as a jealous brother I don’t care Tri I don’t care but I honestly believe that he would be very ok with Hikari dating Koushirou. He’s his closest friend and really just so trustworthy that he just accepts it and goes along with it and supports their relationship, even if he never saw it coming. I see him worrying about their general secretiveness and thinks that they won’t share enough with each other and see that as an obvious obstacle in their relationship but doesn’t really how to raise this issue with them... and it’s not like he can ask Sora how to ask them to say how they feel 

2. Yoshie/Kae (sorry I really dislike calling her Kae so I will avoid it for as long as I can) is really into them and in both scenarios I see her playing a fundamental role in them getting together.

3. General happiness. Obviously.

Ok ok so let’s go with Scenario One: The First Love one

This basically happens after 02, maybe around Tri or so. Taichi is getting ready for university, his priorities are quickly changing and he’s just not spending so much time with Koushirou. He is, naturally, still a regular at the Yagami household but he spends more time with Hikari than with Taichi. They have a lot in common: she always wants to learn a little more about anything and she doesn’t get bored listening to him when he speaks about whatever theory he’s studying at that moment, about whatever (DigiWorld, science, insects, you name it).

Koushirou, on the other hand, sees Hikari as an enigma. He always has questions for her, he wants to know so much: about her connection to Homeostasis, Daemon, the Sea in general - mostly he doesn’t dare to ask, though, so he takes the next best path which is: to observe. But to observe he has to spend time with her, so he does. And Hikari, she always just has this questions that he has no idea where she gets them and he can’t answer those, so he has to study more, and then he needs to meet with her to answer those questions, and it just keeps going towards happiness.

I think that Hikari is abstract and she doesn't fit into Koushirou's concrete-scientific schemes, and that drives him crazy and intrigues him. Why do the cherry blossom petals float on the water? Why is the flight of birds reflected? Koushirou always has scientific answers, but Hikari is never convinced. By making him think in a way that is not rational, she improves his knowleadge, makes him smarter.

Koushirou sometimes takes her cakes and other desserts that Yoshie makes, and sometimes Hikari goes to Koushirou’s house to return the tuppers or recipients and sometimes Koushirou is not there but Yoshie is right in that same moment making a cake sometimes this is just an excuse so she stays and helps and learns this girl has so much to learn really and then Koushirou arrives and they hang out and then repeat. 

And then once when Koushirou arrives at his house and Hikari is there with Yoshie he’s really in a hurry because #whatever and needs to leave and can’t stay but Yoshie goes “Won’t you at least say hello to your girlfriend?” or “Won’t you at least walk your girlfriend home?” or similar and Koushirou is DYING I mean it his face is as red as his hair and it´s A MEsS what are you doing mother?!?!

But while he’s there dying Hikari is chilling and totally ok with it and doesn’t say anything, and when he leaves her at her house she kisses him on the cheek and leaves. And then maybe one or two days later��she texts him to meet, obviously it has to be Hikari, Koushirou willl not start this conversation, so they meet and Hikari starts the conversation and they are dating and flying to happiness THE END butterflies and unicorns thank you.

Scenario Two: The Last Love One

This takes place some years after or around the Epilogue #BlessTheEpilogue I love you Epilogue and it may or may not include the Scenario One, as you wish. 

In my headcanons Hikari sometimes marries Yuri, the Russian boy, or an older man who is really in love with her, but she’s not so so in love with him, although she cares a lot about him. And eventually he leaves her, because he deserves more love than Hikari can give him and yes I took this headcanon from a Daikari fic but I just love this idea.

Usually I have Koushirou marry Mina, the Indian girl, but not in this Scenario because I just wouldn’t be able to break them apart so here he marries whoever, it just can’t be Sora nor Miyako.

And in this scenario Yoshie, after Masami’s retirement, opens a bakery with Mr. Tento’s logo and it’s generally a safe space for people with Digimon because in my headcanons not everyone is happy with coexistance so Hikari goes a lot, to eat, and also because she’s very popular in the #Coexistance community and she gives talks, and recommendations, and eats, there’s even a dessert with her name. Some of these headcanons I took from Angelique Kaulitz, she’s an amazing writer in the Spanish fandom, truly one of the best.

Koushirou doesn’t show up so much because he’s so busy but Yoshie finds excuses to have him there and sometimes there’s only a small table left so he has to sit with Hikari and she’s kind of a mess, gets coffee into her books, foam moustaches and really has the best faces when she tastes an amazing new cake and he finds her first funny, then adorable, then he can’t live without her faces and his girl Osen loves her teacher as well. 

So they get together, or get back together, and travel into happiness on top of a rainbow that shines together with Hikari’s boy and Koushirou’s girl THE END with happiness this is a HAPPY ENDING and the four digimon go too

Scenario Three - The Crack One 

Ok this is a secret scenario but I won’t write like this the whole secret scenario because it’ll be a little messy

I actually wrote this one as a fanfic, I wouldn’t say it’s a real headcanon that I have but I think it’s one of my best stories. 

Ok so Yuri the Russian boy moves to Tokio and Hikari teaches him Japanese and they kind of like each other but Hikari is also in a kind of relationship with Koushirou, except that they don’t have a name for this relationship, but they are definitely together. 

Then Yuri meets Koushirou and finds him really hot truth be told he also likes Sora and Miyako and Hikari is confused at first but then she’s not so confused, the one who is truly confused is Koushirou, he doesn’t understand anything except that he’s really into Hikari and that there is just a thing about Yuri that makes him wanna spend time with him and maybe touch his hand. 

And this is a polyamorous situation but I wouldn’t say it has a happy ending who cares, it’s a crack scenario

I will make another post with Koukari fanfic recommendations but just because I wrote all of this I will pour all my fanfics here yes because I can they are all in Spanish beautiful language I love you Spanish

Friendships are nearly just as important, if not the same importance to Rukia as relationships, so she has had a few sort of near heartbreaks that can lack the whole romantic involvement. Maybe it’s not exactly heartbreak if you don’t want to see view them as romantic, but the let down in either case is pretty similar in any case for Rukia. 

Of course, she has had the heartbreak of loss with the parting of her childhood friends, which I think only builds her up for the most nasty one later when there’s basically nothing left. With every friend that passes she gets more held onto those still left, so the next one always hurts more, but she also gets more stone faced about it; feeling more but showing less. Rukia also has always had a self-blaming tendency, feeling like there was more that she could have done, or that somehow it’s all her fault. I picture her openly showing her frustration at the first death, not worrying to hide it cause it seems obvious that they’re all very upset and no one knows how to deal with their emotions with the kids lack of guidance. And then at the next she actual goes somewhere to privately slam her fist at something or another. 

It’s not so traditional in the normal sort of heartbreak in that there is no break up or harsh words even said, but there is a shattering of a departure and what is normally a silent vow to never see each other again to avoid awkwardness is a law more than anything because the very fact is that they can never see each other again. I imagine the first friend that departs ask them to never forget them, and Renji and Rukia’s way of dealing with that request is to make their graves. It seems only natural to do the same for all the others when it happens. 

Each of them is special and unique in their bond to her after all. I picture one is a constant worrier, he’s hesitant or doubtful in a lot that they do, he questions a lot and isn’t much taller than Rukia. Another is a more quiet, slower with a lot of stamina and a larger build(If you think Rukia doesn’t gets a few piggybacks from him, you’d be wrong) and the last one is more muscle-y and is kind of clingy, more sentimental( he’s probably the one that suggest Renji and Rukia to be shinigami and Rukia says no way that they’ll be together forever), always says what he’s thinking, a little clumsy. What endears them to her at all is their devotion to each other, their closeness, and and the fact that if feels like a family that is making its way by; honestly she is satisfied with that life when they’re all together. It’s only when they fall down like dominoes that Rukia plagued with a wish to run.

I don’t know why I struggled with this one for a bit, maybe cause Rukia does have little hurts she does to her friends when she wants to distance herself but somehow they have always become repaired, so they feel less like a big deal? She of course knows that they’re hurtful, it’s what she does when it feels like it’s for the good of her friend that she shoves them away; if she sees that it will somehow be beneficial for her to do so even if it pains her. 

The Shibas though, she has kind of both hurt physically and mentally. Literally killing Kaien, and mentally hurting his family. Being killed by your own subordinate must hurt pretty bad mentally too though I take it, but what a sweet lieutenant to be worried for her til the end, saying he’s sorry for making her suffer, finally taking a moment to think of the consequences for his choices to try and give Rukia some sympathy?

The shibas seem like a very family oriented group, the exact wish of what Rukia wishes the Kuchiki’s were like to her. She had yet to meet any of the rest of his family, maybe she has heard a bit of the names of Kaien’s sibling from him in passing, or something like “You should meet Kuukaku someday, she’s a handful but you would like her Kuchiki”. So she can’t help but view them as some sort of perfect family that was there for each other. They are typical and stereotyped but beautiful and perfect in Rukia’s eyes. But it seemed that Kaien liked to keep his life as a shinigami and life as a family man as pretty separate, a hard-working man who put his all into the squad or Rukia just happened to not meet anyone else than Kaien and Miyako. 

In terms of the other shibas, Rukia is more than comfortable being the villian in their eyes, cause she does view those actions as just that. Her blame there doesn’t stop at just that though, because there’s also the blame she feels for taking him away from the squad, she views herself as the person who took away the thirteenths sunshine. Considering that she admits that it was herself who killed Kaien when she delivers Kaien’s body and then never visits them again, she feels as if that was all that needed to be said, not caring what else needs to be said and surely they hate some like her. 

In her eyes she has bought nothing good to them, a pest, it’d be better if she wasn’t around.  She is a cursed reminder of their loss, but maybe it’s because they are the reminder of her actions and her own loss there that she actually never makes mention or goes there for the longest time, thinking they hate her is just her excuse to run and never have anything to do with them. She had thought that she had said all that needed to be said when she delivered his body, and once was enough and it was something that she could leave behind. She’s had enough going on to keep her occupied away from it until Ganju brings it back to light and her guilt there is worse than before, like “How foolish could I be to forget that I’m so selfish and did something like that.”

I don’t think she could go back to the Shiba household unless she had a very good reason, and even then she might bring them a gift or something(it’s not saying sorry Kuukaku! )

I’ve mentioned a little how Rukia doesn’t quite understand romantic things, and they surprise her even now. She has a better understanding of platonic and sexual. She kind of melded the two a lot during the younger days;  that’s why she doesn’t think kisses are a big deal. I’ve honestly been on the fence on deciding the idea of her childhood group, who I talked about in the other one, being polyamorous?(still on the fence, but it’s an idea I’ve had). I don’t see her pursuing anymore poly-relations even if her nobility didn’t prevent it; the combo losses there have been too harsh and she would rather focus on feeling secure and that someone won’t leave her in a single relationship. 

Her personal use of sex has been very selfish, or at least her past use of it has been. It’s mainly for herself and a way to make her feel like she can keep people close to her and forbid them from leaving. It’s not so much her giving them anything as it is her taking for reassurance, though I could see her misunderstanding that it’s her giving. It’s weirdly associated with relief for her, like I picture she would would be more tempted to do it after someone had turned out okay from something dangerous. Or just doing it to feel something if she’s feeling very unhinged or worried and it’s a way to cover it up or distract herself. 

Since then she’s grown far more independent and loner. Whether her use of it has gotten worse or not, I can see it growing more worse, or growing to something more soft, but it depends on the person who she is with.

Her sister actually. It comes with the fact that they have always been compared and Rukia is at a disadvantage in so many ways, it’s a fight she doesn’t think she can win. She’s not quite alike to the women, gentle and soft spoken, and sometimes she wonders if she should be more but Rukia has a very strong root in who she is as a personality; she can follow her gut feelings pretty easily and almost has a hard time not following her emotions.

 In Rukia’s eye Hisana has been the one who has always gotten the attention from her brother; sometimes even now she can worry that when he does look at her that’s all that he sees, and she is still “losing” to her. Hisana also has just been a standard that Rukia feels like she can never achieve, mainly cause the women is no longer around and when all you hear is by word of mouth things get exaggerated.

 And maybe she does want to regard her sister with admiration, but she has a difficulty doing so. Stuff like actions and bonds mean a lot to Rukia, and she has lacked any of the sort with Hisana. It’s hard to be attached to someone you have never met, and I’m sure Rukia wants to feel attached, as she has this ideal of family she is very attracted to and she has always yearned for it, but instead she just has these kind of dark feelings she tosses to the back of her head; jealousy, envy, anger, and maybe spite. Instead she kind of just does her best to not think of her; she would rather focus on building a good relationship with her brother now, he is the one who has proven himself to her with actions after everything and he is the one who is here and who she has always been able to call her brother.

And they'll give us some hint and then leave us hanging there without a clear-end in the last movie? Ahhh the 6 year old kid will continue to being heart broken then. I see. Yes, you understoodcorrectly. I think we are most likely to get an ambiguous ending when it comesto the pairings. I think we will definitely get more shippable moments for bothKoumi and Takari though. Especially Takari, since I believe Hikari will featuresomewhat heavily in the next movie, and Takeru will likely be trying to console her. We are probably going to get a call back to episode 13 of Digimon Adventure 02 with Takeru helping to save Hikari from the darkness.

Also, although I 100% understand how you feel about wanting pairings to be explicitly canon because I feel the same way about the pairings I ship, I think you should count yourself lucky. 

As I explained in my earlier post, nothing is preventing you from saying Takari and Koumi are canon right now. They are never said to not be a couple in the epilogue. The only thing that is preventing fans from acknowledging them as canon is the original creators saying they weren’t. But as I explained, their opinions and statements no longer matter because they do not own the rights to Digimon and are no longer involved. Digimon Adventure is now under the control of a completely different set of minds that are free to do whatever they want within whatever confines Toei, the rightful owner of Digimon, has given them. 

Furthermore, fans are free to make whatever interpretations they want when it comes to fiction. Death of the author is something I strongly believe in. Especially since Digimon Adventure was written and directed by multiple people. One writer or one director does not have the right to say that there is only one way to interpret their work. Looking at the work presented to us, and only that, I can make a case for Koumi and Takari being married. In other words, you are not at all restricted by canon right now. 

Contrast this with fans of Taiyama, or Mimato, or Daiken, or Taiora, and the list goes on. Miyako and Ken are explicitly said to be married. This means that anyone who is a fan of a different pairing for Ken and Miyako has to work around it by saying they are having an affair, or they are in a polyamorous relationship, etc. So, they are extremely limited when it comes to what they can headcanon. Plus, they are restricted in having to create stories that are non-epilogue compliant if they don’t want Miyako and Ken to be married. For fans who like to stick to canon as much as possible this also restricts them. For many fans, deviating from canon is something they don’t feel entirely comfortable doing and so have to find work arounds, and they are often not very nice work arounds. Let’s say that you are not a fan of Polyamorous relationships. If you want Ken to be with Takeru, you have to write that either Miyako and him divorced or he is having an affair, neither of which are very pleasant things to have to do to your character. 

So yeah, I don’t mean to be rude but as a Takari and Koumi shipper, you are currently in a pretty good position. Sorry that I used your ask to vent.

The most interesting part is that both 3-person-relationships mentioned above have one thing in common: Namely that Miyako, Ken and Wallace all start off somewhat roughly with Daisuke, but end up having very positive, reaffirming and beautful relationships with him. So let’s look at the more obvious aspects canon provides:

Miyako may start off being in a somewhat bickering-siblings-relationship with Daisuke, but they still rely on and value each other a lot (and that means that they can potentially grow into their most honest selves with each other - especially in a universe in which they both swoon about the same person(s)). Ken and Daisuke start off as “rivals” on the football pitch (even though Daisuke already fondly admires him there), then turn into enemies, just for Daisuke to be the first person to forgive Ken for his behaviour, wanting him to move on and live and integrate him into the group, with all the positive affirmations (and heart pounding) you can imagine, turning them into (life) partners in crime easily. And Ken slowly but steadily opens up to Daisuke (and in turn to the others as well, including Miyako). Upon learning about Wallace’s backstory, Daisuke’s once condescending (and somewhat jealous) attutude towards Wallace melts into the urge to help and support him, again, with overwhelming kindness - which actually seems to catch the flirty, witty Wallace off guard as well.

Miyako displays (more or less obvious) crushes on both Ken and Wallace; the latter is very keen on flirting with her, calling her pretty (which in turn, turns Daisuke into a jealous hedgehog), whereas her feelings for Ken go through quite a rollercoaster ride (from crushing on him to despising him to slowly but steadily appreciating and moving towards him again). Ken’s feelings for Miyako, on the flipside, are not heavily focused upon, as the majority of his interactions are reserved for Daisuke, even though the growing respect between them is definitely visible.

Last but not least, there is obviously no canon material for the relationship between Ken and Wallace - but that doesn’t mean that it cannot work regardless.

Whether I think why and how they’d work:

As outlined above, the most logical route for all of them is going for a scenario in which Miyako, Ken and Wallace bond over their mutual feelings for Daisuke. For the first three-way dynamic, you potentially have a convincing baseline: 

Ken canonically ending up marrying Miyako already makes these two romantically involved with each other and considering how incredibly close Daisuke and Ken are emotionally (and physically, as, according to Kizuna, they still spend a lot of time together in their freetime), it wouldn’t be unlikely for these three to end up in a polyamorous relationship - at least in my opinion. Daisuke and Miyako’s bond shall not be underestimated either, because, as mentioned above, they display a lot of familiarity and trust DESPITE the bickering and since they both grow to adore Ken to the core, this could absolutely be something they’d bond over and get closer over with as well. Basically having these three growing closer over their shared feelings for each other, opening up and being honest sounds like it could be a considerably lovely bond on its own already.

Now let’s look where exactly Wallace fits into this. We already ended Hurricane Touchdown on a very promising note, with him being flirty with both Daisuke and Miyako - so them staying in touch with each other should be a given. I could see him and Miyako texting frequently and Daisuke, being canonically good at English and also implied to be close with Mimi, would also visit him in America whenever possible (since he also aims to start his ramen cart there - what a coincidence, huh?). With gate hopping becoming a more and more accessible way of traveling, they might actually visit each other as adults on a regular basis. So again, these three falling for each other (with Daisuke realizing that his jealousy is linked to his feelings for both Miyako and Wallace) makes a lot of sense.

So what about Wallace and Ken? I feel like, upon meeting each other for the first time, they would probably be a bit wary of one another - and also a liiiiittle bit protective over Daiyako in their own right, as they would have to come to terms with each other first. However, as protective as I could see both of them being, as soon as they realize that they both equally love Daisuke and Miyako, I could see them growing soft and rambling to each other about all the things they value about them. Daisuke and Miyako would DEFINITELY try to convince each of them of each other’s greatness as well, but I don’t think they would get romantically involved with each other. So while it’s hard to imagine these two falling for each other in canon, they probably would at least agree to be in love with two pretty amazing people and make some kind of arrangement with it. (On a different note: Dub!Willis being responsible for Diaboromon is somewhat a mirror to Ken being responsible for Kimeramon, so in the Dub!universe, both of them can be considered young geniuses that could bond over their pasts and the losses they suffered.)

Whether I’d prefer them as platonic or romantic ship:

I do like each three-way-combinations a lot, as I could definitey see each of them working out and interacting in the romantic outlined above (with Kendaiyako and Miwasuke being romantically involved and Ken/Wallace being platonic with each other, but romantic with each Daisuke and Miyako). I also enjoy them in a platonic way, either with all four of them just being friends OR as a group with certain ship combinations in between (for example in a universe in which Wasuke became a thing next to canonical Kenyako - or an alternate universe, in which Daiken and Wayako became endgame). Man, I love polyshipping...
