Imma rant rlly quickly just to get it out of my system but the fact people use the Duchamp piece to defend AI art is so dumb imo
#damien talks#like- i think there's a clear difference between a piece of art that is Supposed to be a criticism of the art world#And the Ai machine that is made to not pay artists and use their work without crediting them and act as if they definitely made the pieces#plus idk man but the fucking duchamp ready-made objects weren't just brooms n objects taken from stores and put in museums - it was one#single object and it was signed bc thats the point. the point is that this single object had no point being in an art museum but being ther#just bc it was signed by Duchamp IS the whole point#i think is just wild bc is like people being like 'oh why is it different from pictures or collages' BC PPL DID IT! they used their energy!#their thoughts! THEIR reason to do it. and did it! Ai just puts it in a nice aesthetically pleasing box n shows it to you bc u Asked for it#you didn't even make it!! even in duchamps thing he Had to search for objects which he held no feelings to#the moment he did have an opinion on the object he discarded !#idk I just think is dumb - like ??? aouh tired.#anyways thats it rant over rawwr
