Jungkook as a College Student
Tumblr media
The coolest broke student you've ever met.
Coolest, because it seems like he can do anything.
From academics to non-academics, he can do it all.
It even comes at a surprise because how can a person be so perfect.
And how can he manage his time?
He’s a full-time student and takes as many credits as possible just because he likes the challenge.
He’s part of the campus’ e-sports team, meaning he has practice almost every weekend and tournaments almost every month.
He’s an activist at his school, famous for talking about important topics regarding mental health issues.
Because mental health is as important as physical health, everyone.
He’s active every time there’s a blood donation event on the campus and always makes time to donate a bit of his blood.
Since he likes music so much, he joins the campus’ band.
Not as a full-time player, thankfully, because he doesn’t have enough time, but he still has plenty of rehearsals in between classes.
Tumblr media
And let’s not forget that he’s interested in joining the campus’ taekwondo club. Talk about being athletic.
He’s also broke, though.
He tries to find rides from his friends who happen to go to the same place as he is.
He only buys things, even things he needs to support his studies, every time there’s a discount, claiming that “they’re scamming you if you buy things not on a discount”.
He borrows essential textbooks from the campus’ library. But then he gets suspended from borrowing again because he forgets to return them.
Then he opts to borrow from the city’s library. The books aren’t in good shape, but he doesn’t know where else to buy them.
Until when a friend tells him to borrow from a senior. “They don't need the books anyways! They’re almost graduated.”
That’s when he starts to use his links to borrow books.
Oh, and, he doesn’t pay for Spotify premium.
Apparently a ‘fan’ paid for him on his last birthday and still pays for him until now.
He’s extremely grateful and wants to express his gratitude to the person directly, but he has no idea on how to find said ‘fan’.
Nearing the end of every month, when his money is thinning out and he hasn't received money from his parents, he even joins random seminars so he can get free food.
Or join any random events that offer food, basically.
But beneath all this coolness, he's still that shy kid from middle school.
Whenever he gets an invitation to join a club or to take part in an activity, he gets confused.
Sure he wants to try new things, like taekwondo, basketball, acting, etc, but he's scared to meet new people.
Afraid that they'll judge him for being bad at something since he's famous for being multitalented.
But on the other hand, he's a student and he has to learn, right?
Maybe he simply doesn't want people to see the part of him that's struggling.
Struggling to approach new people, to try new things, and even to be a leader for a club.
I mean, his phone has been ringing non-stop for the past few days because the music club wants him to be the leader.
And he's the newest member of the club!
Tumblr media
He also still remembers when he tried to join the e-sports team.
He was rejected and made fun of.
Sure he wasn't, like, the best, best player.
But he still could learn, right?
Plus, he never joined an e-sports team before.
Luckily, on his second try to join the team, a year later, those people who made fun of him already left the club.
And most importantly, he was finally accepted.
Despite going through all of that, he has no hard feelings.
Him not being accepted the first time is a good thing.
That way he doesn't have to be with those scums.
Not just dealing with bullies, he still has to deal with fake people.
This is worse, because they can go months undetected.
There's even a possibility that the only best friend he has on this campus is talking bad behind him!
He's trying not to think about that, though.
Surely he should've seen it long ago if it were the case.
He can't know for sure whether the people around him are fake or not.
But he had some fake people in the past.
He knows he doesn't have money, unlike those other popular kids, but he has fame.
And this fame, while can help him get past his shyness, since people come to him first, it can also backfire on him.
Like the time one kid in his class used him to get girls.
That's the worst.
He doesn't even want to think about that anymore.
It's not that he wants all the girls to himself, but come on!
He wants to have some girl friends that aren't being seduced by his fake friends.
Like a normal friendship, yes.
What about dating, you ask?
He doesn’t want to date.
Not yet, at least.
Yes, some people have asked him out, but he simply turned them down, simply saying "I'm sorry, I'm busy." and breaking their poor hearts.
There are still too many things he wants to try and a partner will only slow him down, you know?
Like that taekwondo club?
He's probably going to join it tomorrow once class ends.
And, shoot!
He forgets to prepare for his presentation tomorrow.
Guess he'll have to stay up all night again.

The first inkling of Eskel's suspicions started with when he set about making Lambert's new poppet.
He was seated on the low wall–the one that bordered the vegetable garden–and were basking in the warmth of the sun that gently tickled their skin. They'd been given an afternoon of free play and Lambert, for one, liked watching for birds so that he could scare them off with lots of yelling, accompanied by the brandishing of a stick. He said it was much more fun than dealing with the other students and definitely much more fun than sitting in the library with Vesemir.
Eskel couldn't blame him.
The older boy was balanced on the wall with his legs tucked into a neat criss-crossed position so that all of his materials could sit in his lap as he worked. He really didn't mind accompanying Lambert out there because he could sew just as well out there as he could anywhere else. Plus, it was fun to listen to the other wolf chatter on about his day.
Said redhead was walking himself along the wall, balancing and doing little pirouettes every so often. And, every so often, Eskel would pipe up, "wrong," causing Lambert to freeze before righting his footing. Oh, and sticking his tongue out at the older boy.
"Can you give the poppet hair?"
Eskel lifted his eyes to watch as Lambert spun yet again before the other boy jumped down and snatched up his stick from where it was laying on the ground.
"Hair? Like.."
"Like the ones in the shops down in Ard Carraigh," Lambert chirped in response, remembering back to the city he'd only ever been through once. He flashed a grin at Eskel as he climbed back up onto the low wall, now with mock sword in hand.
"You know you're not supposed to practice your drills alone."
There was a dramatic sigh and a roll of Lambert's eyes as he began smacking, along the wall with his stick, instead. "So.. Can you give it hair?"
"I.. sure?" Eskel tipped his head to the side in brief consideration and then dropped his eyes back to the item in his hands, returning to his sewing. Watching as the needle swam in and out of the soft linen fabric. Pricking his finger every so often as his tongue lightly poked out between his teeth. "..What color? Red, like yours?" Not that he knew where he'd find that color. They didn't have any dyed yarn that he was allowed to use, that he knew of.
"No. White."
Eskel paused as he lifted his eyes back to watch his friend as the younger boy was now trying to whack the stick against the heavy bough of the half dead tree that stood, gnarled, on the other side of the wall.
"White?"
"Yeah, I want it to be white."
Eskel regarded the other curiously with a tiny little smile before looking back down at his project, yet again. "I don't think we have any white yarn. How about grey or brown?"
Lambert halted in thought, holding his stick above his head with both hands. It only took a moment's consideration before he nodded lightly. "Grey works."
- -
The second instance, that Eskel stumbled upon, seemed to only confirm his suspicions.
Lambert was perched on a rickety bench that sat to the side of the training yard and he was watching raptly as one of older mentors was running Eskel's peer group through a drill that incorporated Aard. Eskel was stood off to the side to observe since he was the most adept at Signs than the rest of his peers. This allowed him to help call out mistakes, when need. And, at the moment, it allowed him the opportunity to look over and see that Lambert was zoned in on one student in particular.
Geralt.
The white haired boy was a mischievous, headstrong thing who had quite the aptitude for the graceful maneuvers of the Wolf School. His chin length, slightly curly hair was held back with a simple brown headband and the item effectively kept his hair out of his face as he twisted about in the drilled sequence.
Lambert had his knees tucked against his chest, arms wrapped 'round them and his chin settled softly on top as he studied the scene in front of him. His wide eyes followed every single movement as he murmured the names of each maneuver, under his breath.
As Eskel was called back into the group, he made a mental note to give the poppet a headband along with the white hair, and he grinned to himself.
Leave it to Geralt to inspire such dazzled eyes and intent focus.
-
Lambert had really come down to the training yard so that he could grab Eskel once he was done for the day. He had a whole list of things he wanted to do before dinner and he absolutely needed Eskel to join him in his plans. It wasn't fun to get up to trouble alone, after all.
He however realized that, as he sat to wait for Eskel, he could just as happily take that time to watch Geralt.
Geralt was the best.
He was strong and fast and funny and stubborn and so very sure of himself and goodness! Just everything that Lambert could ever dream of being.
But, he had never interacted with him before. Oh, no, no. Lambert couldn't risk that. What if Geralt thought he was dumb like the other boys did? What if he thought it was weird that Lambert looked up to him as a role model? He could not risk that.
He wouldn't know what to do if that happened.
So, there he sat, for the entire session. He sat, quiet and respectful, not interrupting so that he wouldn't be asked to leave. (Which definitely had never ever happened before..)
At the end, when all the equipment was being packed up and put away, Lambert jumped up from his spot and began making his way across the yard. He clasped his hands behind him and took steps that had a subtle little skip to them, running over his list of plans in his head.
That was when he froze, though. He watched, while holding his breath, as Geralt slung his arm around Eskel's neck and the two older boys laughed together about.. well, something. Lambert's eyes were as wide as could be and he brought his hands in front of himself to fidget as he took a couple steps back.
Oh.
The conversation between the two continued on before Eskel spotted Lambert, giving him an easy grin. He then, to Lambert's horror, began to guide Geralt over, arm around his friend's middle as they still chattered.
Once it was confirmed that they were definitely headed towards him, Lambert spooked. He was not ready to meet Geralt. Not like this.
He had an utterly embarrassed expression on his face and fidgeted with his hands more before twisting on his heel and taking off.
Not today.
--
"Lamb?"
Eskel knocked on the door that was already partially open but then he stuck his head into the room, where he spotted a large lump underneath the blanket that was draped over the far bed. The older boy smiled lightly and then slipped inside the room, gently closing the door behind him.
"Are you asleep?"
"Mm.."
"Did I just wake you?"
"..No." The voice that came after a little groan, and the sound of a yawn, said otherwise and Eskel's smile widened.
"Okay, well, sit up because I have something for you," Eskel hummed and then climbed onto the bed, holding the finished poppet in his lap. "'t's gonna to be dinner time soon anyways."
A fiery mop of curls revealed itself from under the covers and Lambert sat up fully, turning to Eskel with a tilt to his head. Questioning. Until he saw tha finished poppet, that is.
"It's done!"
"Yep. Here you go," He laughed as he handed it over. "And it looks enough like Geralt, don't you think?"
Lambert held it at arm's length with a grin before frowning quickly and furrowing his little brows. "It's not.. that's not why–"
"Well, sure it is," Eskel laughed again, good naturedly and then shifted so that he could flop onto his back, laying next to Lambert. "I can see how much you look up to him."
"That's not.."
"Nothing wrong with it, Lamb."
Lambert eyed him for a long moment and then dropped onto his back as well, so that they could lay shoulder to shoulder, as he hugged the poppet to his chest.
"..Do you like it?"
"Yeah, you did a good job," Lambert mumbled and then nudged his elbow into Eskel's side. "Thanks."
They fell into a comfortable silence as they both stared up at the ceiling, where hewn timbers ran from one side to the other. Eskel could practically feel Lambert thinking so he left him to that, knowing the other boy would speak up eventually.
And sure enough, he did.
"You're friends with him?"
"Who?"
He knew who.
"You know who."
"Who?"
"Geralt.." Lambert huffed and whined in annoyance as he kicked his foot against Eskel's leg.
"Oh.. him," Eskel stressed, teasing his friend and earning himself another light kick. "Yeah. I am. We've been friend since before me an' you were friends."
That made Lambert sit up with another huff, this one sounding particularly offended. "What? And you never told me?" He complained loudly.
"I didn't know you wanted to know..!" Eskel responded, laughing as he shook his head. "And how did you not know? We always do stuff together."
"Well–" Lambert frowned and then shoved Eskel's knees that were in a bent position, with his feet flat on the mattress. "I just didn't know!"
"Alright, alright."
Another bout of silence settled and Eskel was grinning to himself as Lambert stared down at his poppet with a look of intense focus. He draped an arm over his face so that his elbow covered his mouth; he really was trying to stop himself from laughing.
"Can I meet him?" The younger trainee said quietly, playing with the arms of the doll.
"Yeah. Go ahead. I think he's probably already down, ready for dinner."
"No!" The redhead shook his head and gave a pout as he looked up and hugged the poppet back against his chest. "You have to introduce me to him."
Eskel quirked a brow and then gave a laugh–one that he quickly apologized for when Lambert whined in offense. "Why?"
"Because.. Because I dunno what I would say," He explained in embarrassment, looking down and Eskel found himself making a sympathetic noise.
"He's just another kid like us. Just say hi."
"No.." He whined more insistently and shook his head. "You have to do it. Please, please, please? Esk, pleeeease?" He pouted more after drawing out the 'long e' sound.
"Ugh, come on." Eskel clambered off the bed and then stood up, snagging his fingers around Lambert's arm.

"Geralt?" Eskel reached out to tap his friend's shoulder, and showed a sunshiny smile immediately as the other boy twisted around on the bench.
"What.. do you need?" He said slowly as he eyed Lambert–who was clutching onto Eskel's hand and partially hiding himself, eyes huge and round once again–curiously with a slight laugh.
"Lamb here wanted to meet you but wasn't sure what to say because he's embarrassed and shy," Eskel explained, to which Lambert immediately argued,
"What? Why would you tell him that? Prick!"
Geralt grinned and pushed himself to his feet as his hands settled on his hips. "He doesn't sound shy."
"Yeah! M'not!" There was a roll of eyes and huff from the youngest of the three as he let go of Eskel's hand. He folded his arms and stomped a foot.
Eskel had a proud smile on his face, having known that that would successfully crack Lambert out of his shell. The redhead was always quick to argue with things like that.
"So, Lamb?"
"Lambert." Said boy lifted his chin in a stubborn way, after correcting the nickname, and sticking out his hand for a handshake.
Geralt and Eskel smiled even more as they exchanged glances.
"Nice to meet you, Lambert," Geralt hummed and clasped the other boy's smaller hand and tilted his head to the side as he laughed. "Want to sit next to me during dinner?"
As his hand was dropped and that invitation extended, Lambert glanced over to Eskel with another wide eyed expression. Eskel simply shrugged with a big smile as he walked away to find his own spot.
He then looked back to Geralt who was gesturing to the bench with a raised brow and Lambert straightened himself up more, eyes bright.
"Would I ever !"

Loki x plus size!reader
Loki x reader, Thor x reader (platonic), Natasha x reader (platonic).
Word count: 2.13k
Warnings: none, really? Angst I guess, mention of weight gain, stretch Mark's, cellulite, insecurity, etc.
A/n: Heyo! The reader in the story is shorter than Loki, and has stretch marks, cellulite, and is plus size. If any of these topics trigger or upset you, then please don't read! Also, I kinda made Loki an ass in this, but i really didn't mean to make him that much of a jerk whoops. Anyway, enjoy it! I'm currently writing part 2 of sticky situation, but I'm finding it a bit tricky, I'm sorry for the delay! Hopefully it should be up soon. - Aphrodite :)

(Gifs not mine! Credit to owner :3)
• Asgard was different to earth.
• Growing up, asgardians are taught to love and appreciate their, and other's, bodies. No matter what colour, shape or size, there was never any discrimination or bullying because of a person's body.
• You and Natasha were close friends, so you spent a lot of time around the avengers, often in the avengers tower.
• When you first met Thor, you knew you'd be best friends. You both grew close very quickly, and treated each other like brother and sister.
• After about a year, Thor wanted you to go and see Asgard. You were hesitant, knowing that all asgardians were as skinny and beautiful as models, but Thor really wanted you to come and meet his family. Of course, you said yes.
• When you first got there, you met all of Thor's friends and were shown around. It was only on your second day in the palace when you ran into Loki. Thor told you he had a brother, but you had no idea what he looked like or what his name was; when you bumped into him, you were surprisingly quite cool and collected. You forgot about all of your insecurities and worries as you'd been treated extremely well by other asgardians.
• However, that was not the case with Loki; he had never seen somebody as beautiful and Goddess-like as you. He didn't know what to say, and when he doesn't know what to say he results to sarcasm. He didn't mean to seem cold and cruel, but he couldn't help it.
• "I, um, I don't believe we've met. My name is y/n, I'm here with Thor."
• You stuck your hand out to him, which he did shake, but he seemed bored and uninterested. He looked you up and down, and you suddenly became anxious.
• "A midgardian, I see. Well, I'm the brother of your meat head of a friend. The name's Loki."
• You told him you were pleased to meet him, then left to go and get breakfast with Thor. You found him decently attractive; his dark hair, piercing blue eyes, tall stature. You would've been head over heels if he wasn't as disinterested and arrogant as he was when you met him.
• When you left, he mentally scolded himself for not being more polite. He truly was speechless when he saw you. You were short, your body defined with soft curves yet your stomach protruding outwards a bit more than others. Your arms and legs weren't twigs like the other asgardian women, but were larger and patched with cellulite. He found you beautiful, like a Queen in her true form, yet you found your body disgusting, like a pig mixed with a human.
• Throughout the next couple of days, Loki watched you. While you were talking with Thor, reading in the library, at one of the museums; wherever you were, you always looked so calm and tranquil. However, your mind said otherwise. Yes, Loki could read minds, but invading your thoughts made him feel guilty. Instead, he could sense your emotions, and found that your calm shell hid the raging fire in your mind. He was desperate to know more.
• Whenever Loki was in the room, however, you liked to do the same to him. You'd study his features, watch as he sipped from his golden goblet and intricately turn the pages of his book. You rarely heard him speak, and when he did, it was never to you, but his voice was cold and sharp. His responses were always witty and well thought out, and you were dying to know what was going on inside his mind.
• One night, after dinner, Loki thought it would be a good idea to 'accidentally' lock you out of your room. When you were about to enter your room, you realised it was locked, so you went to find help. Loki was the first person who you found.
• "Excuse me, Loki? I'm kinda locked out of my room, you wouldn't know how to help, would you?"
• You had just come from the great banquet, which he had missed. You wore a long, dark green velvet dress with gold accents, which had a long slit running from your right foot up to your thigh. It proudly showed off your legs, arms, and chest, even revealing a little bit of cleavage. You were scared to wear it, but Thor convinced you that you looked amazing in it.
• Loki helped you back to the room, unlocking it for you. He wore his usual green and gold outfit; perhaps there was a running theme in Asgardian clothes.
• You invited him into your room for a drink before bed, which he happily obliged to, and you thought that this cod be your chance to get to know him better. Luckily, he was thinking the same thing about you.
• "So, y/n. What part of midgard are you from?"
• "Umm, I'm from New York. What's life like on Asgard?" You didn't really want to talk much about yourself, you weren't used to having a lot of attention on you.
• Instead of answering you, Loki stared directly into your eyes for a few moments. A cold sensation grew in your mind, and suddenly you felt yourself remembering your worst memories. The image of your friends calling you fat in school flashed before your eyes. The face of your high school boyfriend after he told you that your stomach was disgusting. The memory of crying while stood in front of a floor length mirror, studying the new stretch marks on your thighs. And countless images of a set of weighing scales, the number increasing slightly each time
• Your vision was blurred as these images repeated over and over in your head, and you began crying. You didn't know what was happening, or where you were, but all you felt was pure sadness washing over your body. Suddenly, the visions stopped, and you were sat back on your bed, with Loki next to you. He looked scared, puzzled, and concerned all at the same time. Thor had warned you that Loki had magical abilities, and mind reading seemed like a fitting power to match his personality. You stood up from your bed and wiped tears from your cheeks. You couldn't stop crying, but your tears turned from ones of sadness to ones of anger.
• "What did you do to me!?"
• You tried to shout, but it got caught in a sob. Instead, your voice cracked, and you sounded similar to a screaming cat.
• Loki didn't reply to you, but he merely looked down, not wanting to meet your gaze. His face had guilt written all over it, and you knew that he saw all of your visions too.
• Without a word, you marched to the door and left. As soon as it closed behind you, you ran down the halls of the palace. You didn't care who saw you, but you needed to get to Thor.
• Once you arrived at his quarters, you didn't even bother knocking on the door before walking in. Thor was sat up in bed, reading a book that you could only guess was written in Asgardian. You were a mess; mascara running down you cheeks, red lipstick smudged at the corner of your lips, eyes and cheeks pink and puffy from crying. You explained everything to him, and he understood what you felt. Although he couldn't really comprehend why you hated your body so much, he understood that you needed to get back home.
• After you cleaned yourself up in his bathroom, you both left back for Earth. You were still wearing your green gown when you arrived back in the avengers tower at 2 in the morning. Thor went to his room after making sure you were okay, and you were left alone in the common area. Sitting down on the grey sofa, you let out a loud sob and began crying again. You made sure you weren't being too loud, as you didn't want to wake up the entire tower, but soon enough Natasha found her way to the living room. You had your head in your hands, so only knew of Nat's presence when she put a warm hand on your bare shoulder.
• As soon as you felt her touch you, you stiffened up and stopped crying. Before looking up at her, you sniffed and wiped at your eyes, trying your best to convince her that you weren't crying. You stood up, and looked up at her. Even with Asgardian golden heels, you were still shorter than everyone.
• "Hey, it's alright." She gave you a sympathetic smile before pulling you in for a hug, and as soon as you both had your arms around each other, you couldn't help but start crying again. She stroked your hair as you cried on her shoulder, and your mind went fuzzy with the typical haze of crying. She guided you to her room and managed to calm you down, and helped you get changed into a pair of her pyjamas. Once you laid down on her bed, you were asleep. Nat didn't sleep much anyway, so she was fine staying up and watching over you.
• When you woke up the next morning, you felt like crap.
• Natasha always buys pyjamas 2 sizes up, to get the cozy oversized feeling. Her pyjamas were the perfect size for you, but you became conscious of how they perfectly fitted your legs and stomach, and how much of your body was on display. Your clock read 7:38 am, so you decided to get up and go to the living area.
• When you got there, Nat was cooking in the kitchen, and Thor was sat and the island. You could already hear them talking quietly as you walked into the room, but they stopped once they saw you. The warm scent of pancakes and syrup lingered in your nose as you walked up to them both. You walked to Thor, who gave you a hug, and then you sat down. Nat squeezed your hand once you were fully sat, and placed a plate in front of you. On the plate was a stack of pancakes that rose to the level of your chin, drizzled in maple syrup.
• "I'm going back to Asgard later to talk to Loki. You never have to go back there, and he's never going to lay a hand on you again."
• You gave Thor a tiny nod and rubbed your forehead. It was more than rude for Loki to enter your mind without permission, but you couldn't get him off your mind. At least he felt bad after doing it, and he must have had a good reason to do so. If only you could turn back time to ask him why.
• Once you ate breakfast, you got dressed. You always kept some clothes there, as you spent more time in the tower than your apartment. You wanted something baggy that didn't show off any of your curves, so you opted for an oversized jumper and a pair of mom jeans. A few of the avengers were off on a mission, which left only Nat, Thor, Bruce and Peter. Peter was at his apartment, and Bruce was still in bed, so it gave you some peace and quiet.
• Thor left for Asgard half an hour later, and Nat had gone downstairs to train, leaving you alone. About an hour went by before you heard a strange noise come from the kitchen.
• You got up from your seat in front of the sofa and turned around before you saw Loki, stood in front of you. He wore an all black suit, which made him look twice as good as he did in Asgard. You wondered how he could be here, when Thor had gone to give him a piece of his mind, but you weren't in the mood to talk to him. Instead, you turned around and plopped yourself back on the sofa, and continued to scroll through Netflix.
• "Listen, y/n". He came and sat next to you on the sofa. "I know what I did was wrong. But when I first saw you, I was speechless. You are so beautiful and look like the Gods sculpted you out of clay and I...I just didn't know how to react."
• You shifted in your seat and turned to look at him. You noticed the sincerity in his eyes, and cocked an eyebrow as if to make him continue.
• "And, when I sensed your emotions all I felt was hate. Last night, I let my emotions get the best of me, and I just had to see what fueled all of that negativity. I...I'm sorry."
• You were both confused and happy at the same time. Sure, you were more than pleased that he had apologised, but he thought you were beautiful? How? You couldn't understand what part of you he liked.
• "If you don't completely hate me, I'd be honoured to maybe get you lunch?"
• You smiled, telling him you'd be happy to. God, how were you going to explain this to Thor?

At my school, seniors are given “little sisters” to help show around the school. After meeting with mine over the weekend to give some advice, I’d figure I’d share some with other incoming freshmen, some study-related, some not.
also, if you're from across the pond, freshman = year 10 (age 14/15) and senior = year 13 (age 17/18).
x everyone else is as nervous as you
on the first day of school, you’re probably going to be rather nervous (and excited, hopefully!) but the truth is, no one really cares about the shirt that doesn't exactly go with your pants, or the toothpaste you spilled on yourself, or the make-up that's a bit smudged. everyone else is worried about what they look like to worry about what you look like.  the only memories I have from my first day of high school are 1) my mom trying to take pictures of me; 2) my best friend tipping back so far in her chair that she fell 3) the free pizza. I couldn't tell you what anyone else is wearing, or if there was anything wrong with their outfits. that's going to be the same with you. no one is going to care about your faults, so just try to enjoy the first of four years.
x take photos with your friends
or, more generally, record the memories you make! I understand that you may think something isn't important enough to record, but it's better to have too many pictures instead of not enough - or, worse, none at all. if pictures aren't your thing, or you want to have a place to express your thoughts, keep a journal. not only is it a good place to record what's happening, but you'll also get to see changes in the way you form your sentences, the way you layout your journal entries, and even your handwriting.
x find a balance in socializing
depending on what kind of person you are (introverted or extroverted), you may spend too much time hanging out with friends, or too little. always make sure you leave time for studying, but also time for yourself. if you don't know where to start, try splitting it up equally - one-hour studying, one hour with friends - and adjust from there.
x notes are for studying!!
if you're reading this, I'm assuming you're part of the studyblr community. that probably means you've seen all of the really pretty, aesthetically pleasing notes that people post. while they are nice to look at, they take time. if the way you take notes gets in the way of your studying time, you have to change. it doesn't matter how your notes look if they don’t help you learn.
x find what kind of note-taking works best for you
there are so many different ways to take notes: Cornell, boxing, outlining, charting - and that's just for lecture-based lessons. you may find that a certain way of taking notes works better for different subjects. I would recommend taking notes on something the first week of school (when your workload should be pretty light) then taking the same notes over the weekend in different styles. that way you have a general idea of how the same notes would look different ways, and what you find the most helpful!
x back up your notes
this is honestly a life-saver. I would recommend typing your notes out and then saving them to google drive, but even if you can't do that, taking a picture of your notes can be helpful. then, if you were to ever lose any, you would still have a copy. but also, when mid-terms / finals come around, you have a date for when these notes were taken.
x join as many clubs as you want*
*of course I'm not saying join every club, but I am saying that some clubs aren't as demanding as others. you'll probably be able to join the library club and environmental club at the same time. that being said, don't expect to be able to join the student council and academic decathlon. like with everything in your academic career, it’s about finding balance.
x practice public speaking
this is one of the points you see and think, yeah, yeah, everyone says that. I'll just stand in front of the mirror and talk no! I mean make yourself practice. join the drama club, volunteer to do speeches whenever you can. it's terrifying all during your practice, I know. but it's literally the only way to get better and, after the fact, you won't even know why you worried so much.
x don’t worry about ‘finding your calling’
everyone will make it seem you need to know what you want to study in college in the next two years. if you do know what you’re passionate about already, that’s great. but if not, don’t stress. just try to do well in your classes and try to find a hobby that you enjoy. don’t worry about building your life in the first 20% percent of it.
x don’t be afraid to join the studyblr community!
the studyblr community is great if you want to keep up with your schoolwork. it’s super motivating and there are so many resources at your disposal if you look/ask for them. plus, the community is super nice. do keep up with your blog though I’ve seen so many people - myself included - try to start a studyblr account, then let it fall aside. obviously, don’t prioritize your blog over important things like school and mental health, but try to keep up with it. that’s the only way you can grow and (as corny as it may sound) make new friends.
-
Well, that’s about everything I told my little sister. If you would still like advice, my ask box and private messages are always open! Even if you want to talk to someone else, like I said, everyone is really nice.
Enjoy your first year of high school!
