wait wait let me write a fics idea here before i forget about it even though i'm not a writer but it's open if anyone wanna try writing it~

okay so friends to lovers trope right? i'm opening it to be either angst or fluff but what if it's like the character is protective of the reader so the character always doesn't allow others near the reader much bcs deep inside the character's heart, they're scared if reader will forget them one day bcs reader has an s/o (pls i just told this fear to my bestie and she laughed at me and said i'm her first priority forever :) / also bcs i got attacked by my homies crazy ex-gf once -_-) so i guess that's kinda where the mild angst came in(?) but they both talked it out and reader asked why won't the character date reader instead? character listed out the reasonings being like

(1) they doesn't want the reader to feel chained down and only date them bcs reader is only familiar with the character so they want the reader to actually have freedom to choose other people and experience outside world datings too (heartbreaks etc) pls i'll cry if someone said this to me bcs it's like a platonic love but also a non-suffocating protective barrier

(2) they don't think they're good for the reader (welp not a relationship material ykyk)

(3) the typical- they don't wanna lose the friendship or something like if they break up etc, everything won't be the same and it's not something the character looks forward to

So both of them made a promise to always be by one another's sides (and at this you can pick if you want angst or fluff ending) and just marry one another if they both don't find anyone else at the age of (u pick lol) (if fluff ending i'll say do a beneficial platonic marriage for insurance hshshshs) i told my bestie imma platonically marry them for family insurance discount if i don't get married by the age 35 lolol

pls plsss if you ended up writing it or found a fics with kinda similar theme gimme gimme~ the ureka! moment came when i was cooking maggi lmao might had came from a 3am realisation that my past relays were unhealthy and the total of friends to lovers angst fics i found that never tried to give freedom to choose others and it always ended up ruining the friendship "can we at least stay as friends?" cliché lines yes yes even my ex used that on me 🧍🏻🧍🏻🧍🏻
