911 Lone Star Fandom Edition! Thanks to @tellmegoodbye and @ladytessa74 for the tags.
When did you first start watching Lone Star? Who or what introduced you to the show?
I started with the pilot airing! I’m a day one fan. I’d watched OG 9-1-1 since near the end of season one, and a spinoff with Liv Tyler (a longtime fave) and firefighting Chris Traeger was a no-brainer for me. (How ironic that Michelle would end up being my least-favorite character on the show.)
Which season is your favorite?
Season 3 is perfection. The arcs, the calls, the Breakup Era… honestly, I doubt they’ll ever top it.
Who is your favorite character? (Bonus: If you answered TK or Carlos, who is your favorite besides them?)
Shocking exactly no one: it’s Carlos. TK and Grace are pretty much tied for my number two spot.
Top five episodes. Go!
This is like being forced to choose a favorite child. Oof. Kinda sorta mostly in order:
Push
In the Unlikely Event of an Emergency
Riddle of the Sphynx
Saving Grace
Either The Big Heat or A Bright and Cloudless Morning (I won’t choose, you can’t make me)
If you could pick any character to be given a "begins" episode, who would it be and what would that episode look like?
Carlos. Again, shocker. And outside of the Carlos Begins fic I wrote, I’ve actually detailed my perfect episode here!
What is a scenario or storyline that you would like to see in season 5?
I want Gabriel to have faked his death, tbh. Like, I want it all to have been some elaborate sting that involved having to go underground for his own protection, and that of his family’s. I want Carlos to make detective, and for him to be the one who solves his dad’s “murder.” (More realistically: I want a Nancy-centric episode, dammit.)
What do you think is going on in this still?
Between Carlos’ expression, TK’s background body language, and a few of the Rafa Cameos going around… I think it’s a call that something’s happened to Enzo, and the boys will end up getting Jonah in the end.
We all know about the elusive 5x05 spicy scene that has been teased, so what is your prediction for how it could possibly top 1x02?
PLEASE GODS, LET IT BE SHOWER SEX. I would pay good American money that folds.
Where was the Tarlos honeymoon in your mind?
Mexico. I sent them to Cabo in to build a home, just because I love the Baja peninsula, but I’d love it to be somewhere picturesque and a little laid back, somewhere that isn’t super Spring Break-ish touristy (so no Cancún or Playa del Carmen, etc.) — Acapulco, Ensenada, maybe Guadalajara (where my abuela is from).
Shoutout one of your favorite fan creations.
Just one?! This fandom is full of such talented folks, but as we prepare to enter the Husbands Era, I can’t not put a spotlight on one of my favorite pieces from one of my favorite people: @ambiguouspenny’s gorgeous wedding set, Being Alive.
Tagging in @liminalmemories21 @never-blooms @paperstorm @lemonlyman-dotcom @reyesstrand @rmd-writes @heartstringsduet @walkinginland @carlos-in-glasses @herefortarlos and @welcometololaland.

Destination Wedding in Mexico
Tumblr media
Mexico is a location to marry for a lovely landscape and rich culture plus luxurious amenities. It's the right place for lovers who want to spend time with each other to celebrate love in a scenic, culturally rich, and luxurious environment. Mexico is known for its beautiful beaches, historic sites, and vibrant cities, thus offering an array of choices to hold your special day according to the preferences and budget of every couple. Be it exchanging vows on the beach, blending modernity with colonial towns, or anywhere else, Mexico stands epitomized by magical memories.
Why Mexico for a Destination Wedding?
Mexico is an already perfect blend of nature and affordability for a destination wedding. Being easily accessible from almost all the international locations, the country has packages for weddings, which can make the process easy; otherwise, it will be quite impossible to get that incredible experience without exceeding one's budget.
Key Benefits of Mexican Wedding
Variety of Stunning Venues: From the pristine beaches of Riviera Maya to historic San Miguel de Allende, it has everything under one roof.
Affordable Luxury: Several resorts can be booked as all-inclusive packages, so couples can indulge in luxury without breaking the bank.
Good Climate All-Year Round: There is good climate throughout the year in Mexico, so you can hold your wedding at any time of the year. However, if you are planning an outdoor ceremony, it would always be wise to avoid holding it during the rainy season, that is between June and October.
Cultural Flair: Known for its traditions and luscious cuisine, Mexico offers something that will never be forgotten by you or your guests.
Top Mexican Wedding Destinations
1. Cancun
Cancun is also full of life with blue waters and all-inclusive resorts, perfect for a wedding. Everything is there to include luxury beach resorts and private venues for the jubilant and fun-filled couples. Its proximity to the airport also makes it convenient for guests.
2. Riviera Maya
Mixing luxury with bohemian charm, Riviera Maya entails Playa del Carmen and Tulum. Chic resorts and cultural excursions are found in Playa del Carmen, while eco-friendly resorts and serene beaches in Tulum provide for a peaceful, laid-back experience. This is perfect for beach weddings and those desiring an essence of Mexico's natural beauty.
3. Los Cabos
Couples often want to have an exotic wedding backdrop of desert meeting the ocean. Los Cabos offers lavish resorts and incredible desert-to-ocean landscapes that would make a wedding great to boast about, especially if coupled with secrecy and elegance, which are very much suitable for sunset beach ceremonies or more sophisticated receptions.
4. Puerto Vallarta
A perfect romantic location for a wedding, Puerto Vallarta is flecked with cobblestone streets, mountains, and lovely beaches. It is an open destination known for its energetic art scene, warm hospitality, and several resorts. San Miguel de Allende is the perfect picturesque destination for culture-rich couples.
5. San Miguel de Allende
For a non-beach wedding, San Miguel de Allende offers an artistic, old-world charm with Spanish colonial architecture. Cobbled streets and historical charm make San Miguel a perfect choice for those looking for an intimate, immersive experience in a foreign culture.
How to Plan a Destination Wedding in Mexico?
1. Choose Your Location and Venue
The choice of venue can set the mood for your wedding. From a beach resort to an estate, a venue is very important since it represents your dream wedding.
2. Get a Wedding Planner
A local wedding planner that knows all about a Mexican destination wedding process can make all the difference. In addition, many resorts offer in-house planners with knowledge about local customs and familiarity with language and suppliers.
3. Understanding Legal Requirements
Weddings in Mexico can be symbolic ceremonies or lawfully led civil weddings. To marry legally in Mexico, couples have to present the following documents: passports, birth certificates, and tourist permits. The blood test is sometimes required before marriage. A wedding planner may help you get through all these accordingly.
4. Set a Budget and Choose a Package
Packages at Mexican resorts vary with budget. However, there are the majority which combine decoration and catering so that couples can control expenses accordingly.
5. Plan Accommodation and Transportation of Guests
Despite having few guests during a destination wedding, it is imperative to see that they get their deserved attention. There are resorts that do offer group rates, and this makes it easier for them to attend and celebrate during such an occasion.
Popular Wedding Themes in Mexico
Beach Romance
A romantic beach theme brings out the best of both worlds, namely natural sweetness with elegance for the ultimate Mexican wedding. Soft, neutral tones, tropical flowers, and romantic lighting highlight the dramatic beauty of the coast.
Boho Chic
A bohemian-themes event, widely popular in Tulum, combines natural hues and elements like macrame decor, pampas grass, and earthy colors. The freed spirit, relaxed, and organic feature creates a beautiful, warm, and intimate ambiance for any beachside or jungle marriage ceremony.
Mexican Fiesta
A Mexican fiesta theme embodies the essence of Mexico itself: its bright colors, mariachi bands, and tequila toasts. The papel picado (colorful paper cut-outs), Mexican blankets, plus some other elements, guarantee that your celebration becomes a little more festive and authentic.
Modern Luxury
For Los Cabos or Riviera Maya, modern luxury is about slick décor and minimalist floral arrangements combined with elegant lighting, creating this incredible scenery as it harmonizes with the surroundings, ideally creating an ambience that is so sophisticated.
Mexican Food for a Wedding
Among the flavors that excite wedding celebrants is that of Mexico. Gourmet, popular street food, to sumptuous traditional food. Everyone in this world just loves Mexican dishes for the richness, diversity, and delicacy. On any Mexican wedding, the following popular menu must be supplemented by:
Appetizers: Guacamole, ceviche, and tostadas
Main Course: Tacos al pastor, enchiladas, or seafood
Dessert: Churros, tres leches cake, and flan
Drinks: Margaritas, mezcal cocktails, and tequila shots
Entertainment and Activities for Wedding Guests
A Mexican destination wedding can be a huge opportunity to give the couple a memorable time along with their guests, and some of the very popular activities that shall include a destination wedding are:
Local Tours: Plan excursions to discover Mayan ruins, snorkeling trips, or guided city tours.
Welcome Party or Bonfire: Welcome your guests with a welcome cocktail party or beach bonfire accompanied by sound and local goodies.
Day After Brunch: Host a post-wedding brunch to spend extra time with family and friends before they go their separate ways.
Destination Weddings in Mexico FAQs
1. Is a wedding in Mexico very expensive?
Mexico is an affordable destination, especially with the all-inclusive options. While it varies by location, package, and headcount, it might end up being cheaper than doing it the traditional way.
2. Do I need a planner for a Mexican wedding?
A local planner is very advisable; they will know their way around the area, the various vendors, and what is needed to make it legal. In fact, most resorts have dedicated coordinators.
3. How long will guests spend?
Traditionally, guests will spend three to four days, which will give them the opportunity of going to the wedding and having some other off times or times to tour the place.

Ranging from breathtaking landscapes, friendly culture, to world-class hospitality services, the options Mexico offers to make this wedding exceptional and unforgettable are ample. This is the Playa del Carmen bus depot. We took the 1st class bus, because it has a toilet.
In 2014, long before the child was born, on this route, we took the 2nd class bus, and it almost left without me at this very same station. I had a terrible need to urinate but I had forgotten to bring money. The person working the toilet wouldn’t let me in. I had to run back, get money. I have a dim recollection that the second time I had a large bill and the attendant didn’t want to make change so I had to buy junk food at the bus station convenience store to make change.
This time there was a toilet. We sat behind it in a dark area at the back. The seats were soft. Over time urine did collect in footprint shapes on the slick linoleum floor and there was some smell. Also the sink was blocked and water splashed from it rhythmically as the bus bounced gently on its soft suspension. There was a young girl who had to use the toilet again and again.
The bus played four movies during our voyage in this order: Daddy’s Home, a documentary about planning for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding procession, The Way Back (2020) and Daddy’s Home 2. All of these films were, naturally, dubbed in Spanish.
The Daddy’s Home films are comedies with WIll Ferrel and Mark Wahlberg. Ferrel is a stepfather. Whalberg is the biological father. The comedy is that Whalberg is better looking, more masculine, but also wiser and more competent. In Daddy’s Home 2, there are more fathers. Both Whalberg and Ferrel’s fathers are thrown into the mix, and they present exaggerated traits of their children: hypermasculine and frivolous dandy respectively. Number two is a Christmas film.
In The Way Back Ben Affleck plays a drunk who inspires young men through sport. Through the narrative arc he manages to redeem himself, but not unequivocally, because his personality is affected by his life-pain and alcoholism.
