Super, Super Bowl
Dean Winchester x Reader
950 words
Note: Unbeta'd, unedited. Slammed my keyboard while my kids watched Mickey Mouse. This is the result.
Dean’s man cave. The biggest television you’d ever seen, the comfiest reclining chairs you’d ever sat in, the coldest refrigerator known to man - the perfect place for a Super Bowl party. Dean was going to have the game on anyway, why not make the most of it?
Halfway through the season, headlines started popping up everywhere - about Taylor Swift. Taylor Swift. And football.
What?
Turned out she was dating Travis Kelce, some dude from the Kansas City Chiefs. Dean watched the Kansas City games religiously, as long as he was in the bunker, or, if by some magical power of the universe, the motel TV could pick it up. The groan that escaped Dean when Taylor Swift started showing up on the screen once they publicly outed their relationship was nothing short of hilarious.
It started out small, the way you taunted and teased Dean about her being ever-present. You wore a friendship bracelet with the number 87 on it - Travis’s jersey number. You bought a beanie, white and red, like the one Taylor was seen wearing at one of the colder games. You managed to snag a Kelce jersey online during a flash sale when the Chiefs were headed to the playoffs.
It came to a head when you found a shop on Etsy selling sweatshirts that said, “in my football era” in bubbly pink lettering. Everything looked good - great, even - for the Chiefs on the path to the Super Bowl. Dean watched you open the package when you got home from the post office and with the eye-roll he gave, you were honestly a little concerned that he’d strain an orbital muscle.
Leave me alone.” You huffed, concealing a smile.
“As long as she doesn’t show up as a surprise halftime show guest, I don’t give a damn about her.” Dean grumbled, heading toward his hideaway.
You lingered in the library, slumping down into the couch while you scrolled through endless suggested, targeted posts about Taylor Swift and her boyfriend, her boyfriend’s brother and his family, her boyfriend’s mom, the suite they’d be sitting in for the game. You name it and there was a blurb about it online. Jarring you out of your screen-induced daze, Dean’s voice rattled through the concrete halls.
“What the hell is going on in here?!”
A smirk pulled on the right side of your lips as you set your phone down beside you and painted on your best innocent face. Dean’s socked feet managed to sound as heavy as his boots as they pounded back to the library.
“Do you care to explain what exactly happened in there?” He pursed his lips, brows raised.
You shrugged, still feigning innocence. “What happened in there?”
“Don’t get cute.” He folded his arms over his chest. “You know exactly what I’m talking about.”
“Is Sam pranking you again? I thought you two moved on from that.” You furrowed your brows in faux confusion. “Aren’t you a little old for practical jokes?”
“No, Sam - Sam doesn’t have anything to do with that monstrosity. What did you do to my man cave?!” You stood and took a step toward Dean, already wearing your new sweatshirt. “All of you are crazy. Every single on of her fans is insane.” He shook his head, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“Excuse you.” You scoffed. “We’re not called fans, Dean. We’re swifties.” With an extra sway in your hips, you sauntered down the hall to the room Dean was so up-in-arms about. When you got to the door, you giggled and stood proudly before your work. “I don’t get it. What’s wrong? It looks great in here.”
Dean’s exasperation sputtered from his mouth as he searched for words to express just how ruffled his feathers were. “It’s - it’s - there’s - you deflowered the sanctity of my man cave!”
You tipped your head back with a cackle. “I what?”
“You ruined it!” Dean threw his arms out toward the walls.
Ruined it.
You scoffed. You thought you did a wonderful job of sticking to the theme. Across the room, in plain view as soon as you walked through the door, a shimmery red curtain served as the backdrop to a table. The table was covered with a Chiefs tablecloth, and on the tablecloth sat a red-mirrored disco-football. Beside the football was a charcuterie board - or boards, really. One shaped like the number eight and one shaped like the number seven. Cupcakes with gold flakes and tiny footballs stood on a tiered tower. An array of red drinks lined the lefthand side of the table - Shirley Temples, except they were sparkly too, thanks to the edible glitter you swirled into them. Hanging behind the table, strung across the shiny backdrop, you made and hung three rows of garland - garland designed to look like a friendship bracelet made from pony beads and white, lettered beads that read “IN MY,” next line, “SUPER BOWL,” last line, “ERA.” On the adjacent wall, there was another table, far less aesthetically pleasing, decked out with chips, salsa, guacamole, pretzels, dips, a crockpot full of meatballs beside a basket of rolls.
It looked fantastic.
“I don’t understand.” You walked in and twirled around, arms open. “This looks like the perfect way to celebrate the Swift Bowl.”
“WHAT?!” Dean’s eyes bulged from their sockets.
Another loud laugh escaped you as you clapped your hands together. “Dean, it’s just a football game.” You shook your head and stood beside him, both of you looking at, but with far different feelings about, the red glittery glow surrounding you. “I’ll take the decorations down tomorrow. I promise.”
Dean released a long, loud sigh and closed his eyes. “Fine, but I swear if I hear even one second of her music, I-”
“Aw, c’mon Dean.” Sam clapped Dean’s shoulder as he walked by, stepping into the man cave and dipping a chip in salsa. “You gotta just,” Sam’s face twisted as he tried to conceal a wide grin, “shake it off.”

sapphire lies
a/n: hi!! I'm so excited for this !! let’s pretend mat barzal is a football player and not a hockey player lmao it just didn’t make sense to put him as a hockey player but i’ve been obsessed with him lately. also i have no idea if this will turn into a 3 chapter story, i hope you like it.
Blue eyes were adorned by stars that were only shown when a certain light would appear, as if a comet was shown in plain daylight time. A starlight she could only hope to see in her dreams, was it too selfish wishing that those eyes looked at her the way she looked at them?
She was taller, her arms were long and her fingertips were always colored by the season the year was on, her lips were plump as a peach, her hair was the prettiest shade you could never aspire to have, not even with a 12 hour shift at the most expensive salon; always adorned with a small bow that would match her clothes, this time, her bow was purple, her hair was put up in a ponytail, high enough to see the last name that would eventually hers..
“You look lovely” Robin said standing up to say hello to her future daughter in-law, “You are one to talk, you look fantastic” she said smiling at her, “Taylor, hi, i love your shorts you look so sporty today” That wasn’t true ,she was wearing a white shirt and denim shorts, she would’ve worn the jersey of the quarterback, but she didn’t.
joe b sent new message:
hey Tay i don’t mean to sound rude or anything but could you please stop wearing my jersey to the games? ik this is a weird thing to ask but i don’t want Kat to feel like she has any competition or anything.
not saying she has but
you know what i mean
Taylor didn’t reply to the text, in fact she cried like a newborn baby afterwards, she was really even planning on attending the game, but she knew Joe’s mom would attend, it became a tradition to watch his games together back when they were in high school. When he transferred to LSU, she was over the moon, Joe and Taylor had been best friends since she was 16 and he was 17, they met because Taylor needed a tutor in physics, and Joe needed a few bucks, their friendship skyrocketed since.
You sat next to Robin, your eyes were watching the game but your mind was somewhere else, you came to earth after the screaming noises that you heard beside you, LSU won 23-20 over the Auburn Tigers, you came back from your trance after Robin told you to come to the field with her and Katherine. It was a horrible idea, you were planning on leaving early but you couldn’t, as you stood there on the field, you watched Katherine jump into Joe's arms, kissing him and telling him how proud she was of him, she stood awkwardly, Robin was the next one to demonstrate her happiness of the winning game to Joe. He was called into the locker rooms after hugging his mom. As they were walking back to the sidelines to wait for him, an overwhelming feeling took over you, he didn’t peek at you, not even once;
“I’m going to head out I have a huge paper due tomorrow, it was nice seeing you” You said hugging Robin as she kissed you forehead “It was so nice seeing you, any chance I have and I’m taking you back home with me” she smiled, Taylor waved goodbye to Kat and made her way to her dorm.
She were out of breath, Joe came over that night, they had been sleeping together for about 4 months now, it was a sporadic thing that happened at what she thought was the right time. Contrary to popular belief, she wasn’t love with Joe before the sex started, not even a spark was there, Taylor knew he was hot, as fuck, Joe felt the same way about her.
The night it began she was wearing jeans and a shirt that showed off her collar, as she was talking and noticed Joe’s eyes drifting from hers, he began looking at her lips and then at her breasts, he was licking his lips and she were lost in the lust that now reined in his blue eyes. “Do you want to have sex?” you thought out loud, next thing you knew Joe’s back was covered in scratches and her neck and breasts were full of hickeys. But she didn’t fall in love with him for the great sex they were having, she fell in love because he was the last thing she saw before she went to sleep and the first thing she felt around you in the morning. He was warm everytime he was near her, he always smelled so manly, so clean and made her feel at home. There was a period of time when their encounters stopped being only sex, it became aftercare that became kissing without lust, it became Taylor falling in love with him.
“Someone is blowing up you phone” she said between kisses “Don’t worry about it” he said kissing attacking her lips, it was a heated moment, but sometimes, there is a feeling in your stomach that doesn’t leave “I-I think we should stop” she said stepping away from the kiss “Are you okay?” he asked “Yeah, I just” she stuttered “I’m not in the mood” she said looking at him, he leaned back and stood up, “We can watch a movie” she said looking up at him, “No, it’s fine I have to be up early tomorrow for practice anyway” Her throat closed.
What? Since he cares so much about waking up early for practice, he has gone to practice after a rough night. She saw him leaving your dorm that night, she didn’t hear from him in the next hours, she went to bed and chose to shut your thoughts.
robin burrow:
It was so good seeing you doll. I’m leaving until Monday, I would love to treat you to brunch tomorrow. What do you say?
taylor:
hi robin!! i would love to, i was planning on going to the mall, if you want to we could go together too 🙂
And so she went, over brunch they only talked about the brunette , how she was doing and how was life back home, she missed her mom, Robin became kind of a second mom once her kid and Taylor started hanging out. She remembered the first time they met, Joe picked her up from a friends reunion and brought her home to make pumpkin pie, he had been waiting for that the whole week. She was the sweetest person ever, after going to Joe’s games the two became closer, she never had a daughter, she always said Taylor was the closest to knowing how being a girl mom would’ve been.
“Your hair got so long since the last time i saw you” Robin said looking at her, she loved spending just the two of them, there was a certain connection she could only have with her, they have known each other for a while now, 4 years sound so little but actually it felt like a lifetime together.
“Let’s take a picture to send to your mom” Robin said after about 4 hours of shopping, she took the picture, hugged her goodbye and parted ways. After driving to her dorm building, she took a shower, it was almost 4 and as much as she loved shopping with Robin, she was hard to keep up with.
Robin Burrow tagged you in a post.
Robin Burrow: Got to hang out with my daughter today! Always a fun time with this doll.
joe b sent a new message:
How did I not know my mom invited you shopping
Could’ve asked Kat to go with you guys.
The happiness she felt on her stomach dropped after those messages popped on her notification center. Like a punch in the throat.
Taylor: what’s gotten into you? Do you not like me hanging out with your mom?
joe b: All I’m saying you could’ve asked my girlfriend to go too
Girlfriend, like an uppercut that was smashed to her face.
Taylor: not my fault your mom didn’t invite her??
joe b: Whatever just
joe b: She should start hanging out with my mom, and my mom needs to let you go.
Taylor: what does that even mean??
joe b: You do realize we are not boyfriend and girlfriend right?
joe b: Like whatever happened between the both of us ended a long time ago, you don't need to play daughter in law with my mom.
Taylor: You can come pick up your stuff from my dorm, I’ll leave it outside on a box.
joe b: Good.
That night, Taylor couldn’t stop crying, she lost her best friend, and the closest thing shehad to a mother, Robin was the one who helped her choose her prom dress since her own mom was too busy criticizing how her arms looked in that dress. Joe knew that, she called him crying after the heated encounter that had just happened.
A knock on the door woke her up the next day, too lazy to get up and open she figured that if she avoided it it would go away, it did. After a whole week of what it felt, a gut wrenching feeling that would not leave her body.
What changed on Joe to make her feel this way, was she not pretty, was she not smart, was she not what he was looking for? She never told him how she felt, there was never a need for it, everyone around them knew that.
Joe can recall a moment he felt his stomach turned of happiness, it was an off-season sunday, both of them were back in Athens, Joe’s brother hosted a barbecue and Taylor was his unmentioned +1, he picked her up and as much as he tried to hide his excitement he just couldn’t, his sisters in-law always got along with her, or as much as the age gap let them, his nephews were cray for her, and she as crazy for them too, playing tag with them in the backyard while looking as is she was made of angel dust, after staring at her, a familiar voice got him out of that haze.
“You are not fooling anyone son” His father said “Fooling with what?” Joe looked at his dad and chuckled, “You are in love with her” Joe chuckled again “How many beers have you had dad?” His dad looked at him and laughed. Shortly after Joe went inside to change his shirt since the smoke was impregnating his clothes, after changing he stumbled up Taylor. “Hey, I was looking for you” she said “I gotta go but thank you so much for having me” she said half hugging Joe, he was confused “What? You’re leaving so early! We haven’t had dinner yet” “I know and I’m sorry, I promise I will make it up to you” Joe walked to the door to grab his keys, “No worries, I ordered an uber” she said putting her hands on his chest “It’s already here” she said opening the door and closing it so Joe couldn’t walk her to the car. He was confused, but he was also quick, she didn’t get in an Uber, she got into a car and was greeted by a guy he was very aware of, Mathew somehow knew a friend of a friend of a friend from Taylor, they met on a party one night, they were not dating, she thought he was cute but didn’t felt like the one she was looking for.
Joe held onto that memory for the longest time,he didn’t know who the guy in the car was, couldn’t see his face, he felt bad about her leaving him and his family to see some other guy. But he couldn’t complain, he had done that two or three times, maybe more, using football as an excuse to not go with her to the movies or shopping. Mat and Taylor stopped seeing each other afterwards, he was a quarterback for Michingan and was insanely gorgeous, also one of the best in the league, LSU and Michigan played against each other on the season, and that’s when Joe knew who he was, he told some of the defense guys to tackled him harder, later that night, after the win Taylor was wrapped around Joe’s arms, He won both matchups that day.
Tired from her pity party, she decided to go out that night, her girlfriends were more than happy to go and have a nice dinner as long as it meant to dress up cute. They laughed so hard that night and took a bunch of pictures, she posted one to her story and went to bed that night.
barzal97: You are drop dead gorgeous.
barzal97: I’m playing LSU next weekend, wanna come?
And she did, wearing Michigan gear, sitting with Mat’s friends and having a great time. There was no point in going to the game and being on the other side if Joe wasn’t willing to be nice to her, LSU won 21-17 that night. But she was more than happy to see Mat.
After the game, Joe went to see his family and girlfriend, realizing a short brown eyed was missing, “Hey Mom, did Taylor come?” he asked her very quietly “I don't know honey, she didn’t sit with us, maybe she was in the stands” Robin half smiled at Joe, he knew she wasn’t there after all he wouldn’t blame her. Later that night, Joe found out she was sitting on Michigan’s side after a text from one of his friends. He was so mad and so heartbroken at the same time.
joe b: Really? Wearing Barzal’s gear, that’s low even for you.
He regretted sending that text and as much as he tried to deleted it, Taylor already saw it,
taylor: What is your problem dude? You’ve been acting like a dick lately.
taylor: you were the one who told me to stop hanging out with your mom, now that I’ve done that, ur pissed off about it give me a break you big baby.
Stop hanging out with my mom doesn’t equate to wearing someone else’s jersey, Joe thought to himself.
joe b: Tell your little boyfriend that he will always lose you to me, I had you first.
joe b: I’m sorry tay i shouldn’t have said that.
The last message didn’t go through.

All Tatted Up Part 2 (Jessie Fleming x Reader)
Warnings: ⚠️talk of trauma and su!c!de⚠️
A/N: Part 2 :)) Also, by the way this fic ends i know some people will want a part 3 but i don’t write smut for jessie. it’s also a v short fic sorry :(
Prompt: In which you and Jessie talk about your tattoos, and you confess your feelings for her.
You walk back to the locker room, leaving a probably very confused, but happy Jessie in the medical examination room.
You made your way back into the Chelsea’s changing room where the rest of the team was. Emma was very happy with the teams performance and had seemingly finished her speech as she walked out as you walked in. "Great game. Clean sheet really helped us today." Emma said, tapping you on the back. "And don’t worry about Fleming, I’ll make sure the medics take great care of you." She said to you gently. "Thank you. A lot." You told her. You had always liked Emma, she never judged you for your cold personality or stern exterior. I guess she knew that there was more under the surface.
You walked into the changing room where the girls were putting on their regular clothes. "Hey! Is Jessie good?" Magda asked, standing up. "Uhm. Head. I mean head injury. But like it’s just a cut. She’ll be okay." You said, quickly rushing to your cubby. "Okay weirdo." Erin joked. You shot her a glare and she quickly looked away. You took your clothes and walked into the shower room. You let the water wash away the dirt over your body, you never know how it managed to get under your layers, but it did. You then walked back into the changing rooms where most girls were putting on their post match outfit. You were quick to take off your shirt and replace it with a plain white tee shirt. You then put on beige cargos and a higher cut beige hoodie. You rolled up the sleeves and put on your jewelry and brown dunks. As you laced them up, you saw Jessie coming out of the shower room, her cut was clean and stitched up and her hair was wet. She was drying it with a towel and had put on jeans and a yellow tee shirt. You looked down, hiding your furious blush and knowing she had caught it. You concentrated on lacing up your shoes and then stood up and grabbed your bag. Your teammates watched you walk out of the room in confusion. "What’s up with her?" Sam said in confusion. "Seems like she’s still pretty shook from that hit you took, Jess." Niahm teased. "She is not. She’s okay." Jessie answered, hurrying to put on her shoes and rush out after you.
You were signing things in the parking lot, taking pictures and talking briefly with fans. One mother smiled at you and you walked over to her and her little girl. "Hi!" You said, smiling at the mother and then the little girl. "I like your jersey." You said, looking at the chelsea jersey. "Thank you." She basically whispered. "Do you have a name on the back?" You asked her. "Come on sweetie. Show her." The mother said. Her daughter turned around, showing a number 17 Fleming jersey. "Ahhh, you’re a Jessie fan." You said, smiling at her as she nodded. "Let me tell you a secret. I am too." You said to her. "Do you want a picture, Abby?" Her mother asked. Abby nodded and her mother picked her up and handed her to you. You smiled at her as you put the 6 year old on your hip and smiled at the camera. She was watching you though, mesmerized. Her mother took a few pictures and then she turned to you. You looked at her back. "Do you play football?" You asked her gently. "Yeah. I’m a… i play goalie." she said. "No way! Really? Well i cannot wait to play against you one day." You smiled at her, other people were now photographing you both, taking angles to show off the back of the young girls jersey. You gave Abby back to her mother who thanked you. You then waved goodbye to the girl and walked into the bus that would return the group back to Cobham.
Later that night, you were scrolling on your phone when you got a notification saying Chelsea had tagged you in a post. You clicked on it and saw a series of pictures with the little girl. One of her watching you as you smiled at a camera, the other one of her talking to you and another of you smiling widely at her showing you her jersey. The caption read.
Our keeper- a clean sheet, a pk save and inspiring the next generation all while being the biggest @_jessflem fan there is.
You smirked at the post and shared it to your story but you were soon interrupted by the doorbell.
You put down the meal you had been eating in front of the TV on your coffee table and walked towards the door. You opened it to find the last person you were expecting to be standing there. Jessie Fleming. She had her phone open to the post chelsea had just published, and was smirking at it. "You’re my biggest fan, are you?" She said, looking up at you. "I- they’re just kidding. The girl had your jersey." You said. "I noticed. I signed it. She was sweet." Jessie answered, still standing in the doorway. "Oh, sorry. Uhm, come in." You said, moving to the side. She smiled gently and walked in. "Sorry, I didn’t know you were eating." She said, eyeing the food on the coffee table. "Oh it’s all good. I was done anyways." You said, closing the door and rushing to the table to put your dish on the counter. "Can I get you anything?" You asked her, leaning against the counter awkwardly. "You know, for someone who’s so strong and confident and loud on the pitch, you’re pretty awkward and quiet off of it." She said, ignoring your question. "Yeah. Yeah I guess so. I don’t have a lot to say." You said. "I don’t believe that. I think you have a lot to say, but you’re not used to being… aloud to say it?" Jessie said. You eyed her for a second, propping yourself up to sit on the counter. "Where’s this all coming from?" You asked.
She made her way towards you, pushing your legs open to stand between them. "I want to be the person you can talk too. I know it’s hard, not having Mapi or Alexia, not seeing Ona or Aitana often. And I know you love Chelsea, and the girls all love you, but I don’t think you have anyone to talk too." Jessie said. You looked down at her. The fact that you were on the counter and she was shorter than you made the height difference significant. You watched her, using your index to lift her chin up so she looked into your eyes. "I want to be with you. I like you a lot. But I don’t know how to be with you. I’ve never been with anyone… romantically." You told her. "Me neither." She said gently.
You smiled at her, leaning down to kiss her as she slipped her hands under your tee shirt, feeling yours abs. "Tell me about your tattoos." She said, pulling away and grabbing your hand to pull you off the counter. "Okay. I have a lot though." You said. "And I have a lot of time."
You dragged her over to your L shaped couch where your plopped down beside each other. Jessie scooched down, leaning her head on your chest. "Arms first?" You asked. "Yeah."
"Okay so I got this sleeve when I was 20, Mapi and I actually got ours done at the same time. Emotional support you know. Anyways. The mountains are for hiking, I’ve always loved hiking. But this one here, that’s mount olympus from greek mythology. I’ve always been fascinated with mythology. It was like the only good thing I got out of my dad. He was a drunk. But when he wasn’t under the influence, we would read mythology together. The flowers here are for my sister, her name was Rose, she… she died when I was 14. She was really unhappy and she overdosed." You started saying. "I’m sorry. I can’t imagine loosing Elysse. She’s going to love you." She told you, brushing her fingers up and down your stomach. "Thank you. Anyways, the lion here is for protection. From others but also to signify that I’m a protector. Which sounds stupid as hell but it’s true." You said, looking down at her and twirling your fingers through her hair. "I know. I saw it on the pitch today." She joked.
You blushed and Jessie smiled up at you. "Other arm?" She said. "Hmm. This one has less. It’s more little tattoos here and there. And they’re mostly meaningless. A fairy, a rainbow, a sun, i have a little car here."
You guys spent the next fifteen minutes talking about your tattoos. You showed her the writing on your upper thigh, the one behind your ear. And eventually you wanted to show her the ones on your back. "Obviously you’ve seen all of these before but you don’t know what they mean." You said. You stood up and slipped off your shirt, making Jessie stand up herself and walk behind you. She traced her fingers on your lower back and on the back of your shoulder. Her touch was intoxicating. "They’re really beautiful." She said. "But tell me later. Don’t tell me what they mean now. I want to figure you out bit by bit." She said, turning you around. "Okay then, Fleming. Figure me out."

Notes on gear in Campoestela, mostly spacesuits:
Spacesuits are cheap and widely produced compared to today, but they are also tailor-made, much like a VERY, very high-end business suit. Going to a spacesuit tailor is often expensive and a bit of a chore, as you have to tailor everything from the actual suit to atmospheric mixes, especially when it comes to different species. However, once they are done, they usually last for life.
The main kind of spacesuits are the "skintight" counter pressure suits (see here). They look remarkably like racing suits, and are rather easy to put it on and comfortable. Carbon nanotube and smart materials deal with most of the uncomfortable parts, but you WILL feel a certain Tingle in your more curvy parts. You've been warned.
You can, actually, wear your suit as everyday clothing. There's also zippers for when you have to go... The astronaut underwear, of course, still works as a diaper (dissolving *stuff* with genetically engineered bacteria for that purpose), and when missions get extensive, there's no other way. Because of the bad past reputation of astronauts who did it anywhere, they have gone all the other way now, and most spacers are meticulously clean and very touchy about that subject.
(the beforementioned bacteria, as well as atmospheric and pressure mixes, have to be customized for different species, which makes spacesuits a rather expensive lifetime investment)
Helmets are standarized, but by far, the most complex part of the suit. Equipped with radio, lights, a HUD controlled by eye movement and blinking (though many prefer wrist buttons), and even some little snacks and water in case you are stranded and have to wait hours or even days for rescue. They are very easy to put it on, seal automatically with the collars of all spacesuits, and unlike current ones, they allow you to move your neck inside.
(there's also a little stick to scratch your nose).
Astronauts love to put stickers on their helmets. In fact, spacesuits are very much personalized; a plain space white suit is frowned upon. Mission patches and flags, much like punk battle jackets, and very often the name is on big letters on the back, like a football jersey, for easier identification. Many spacers, especially those who like to stand out, go even further and decorate their suits with family heradly, or special artwork like tattoos, you can find some that look like an abstract or baroque painting and you can say "oh, it's This Guy" (and that's exactly the intention). Most of this of course applies to human spacer cultures, other cultures and species have different traditions. Some might look all the same, but in ultraviolet or infrared reveal all sorts of complex patterns.
Spacesuits backpacks are very much miniaturized, also easy to connect to standarized helmets. Helmets themselves have limited air recycling capabilities, but you need a backpack for any EVA.
LISTEN UP, ASTRONAUTS! Here's what you need to have in your belt before heading off: a beeper (radar to check distances from objects), backup radio, sealing patches (if there's any puncture on the suit or helmet), intravenous iodine (for radiation), sedants and anti-nausea (not a good idea to go out with nausea or The Bends in an emergency, species dependant of course), signal flares and flashlight, multiknife (or facón if you're Esteloplatense), and don't DARE going out without a safety line.
On a planet, suit or not (what, are you going out with your suit planetside? are you from a movie or something?) you still have some gear on your belt all the time. Breather mask and goggles just in case, again, a multitool or knife, pills with nutrients for when the local food isn't enough (for Argentines, they look like La Yapa candy), iodine pills, a kind of smartphone for rugged terrain (like two months of battery and capable of being sunk in mud with no problem), advanced wristwatch (many carry a mechanical one for emergencies) and various other tools. If your belt doesn't do a jingle jangle when you're walking, are you even an astronaut?
Bullet or energy weapons are frowned upon in spaceports, obviously. Most spacers have some 'on the trunk' for emergency, but unlike most science fiction, they don't usually go carrying them around all the time. In fact, gunfights in remote spaceports are mostly a fiction from the equivalent of western movies.
Most spaceships also carry a lot of little bots that do all the maintainance that biologicals can't do, especially since these are ATOMIC ROCKETS we are talking about, and a human fixing a nuclear lightbulb engine would get their DNA chopped. These droids are ubiquitous in all spaceship garages and cargo bays, and usually you can adopt one for cheap, they're treated much like pets and are very hardy; they do need a lot of radiation cleaning though.

Prom - Neymar jr
I walked to my locker with my best friend, Maria, by my side. We were talking about the science project.
"Can we go by my locker first? I need to give back the math notebook you gave me." She asked as we passed my locker and continued walking. I nodded and grabbed my phone to text my boyfriend, Neymar jr. Yes, the captain of the football team. I'm not cheerleader or the 'most popular in school'. Sometimes I still can't understand how we are together, but that doesn't matter now. As I grabbed my phone everyone around me who were either walking or talking stopped. I looked around and saw the football team with their backs turned to me and Neymar crouched down in front of them. They lifted their jerseys and under that they had a plain white t-shirt. The sentence on the shirts read 'Prom with me?' And Ney with a rose and a poster in hands. I sighed 'yes' on the poster and everyone cheered.
"Of course I'll go to prom with you. Even if you didn't ask me" I said and hugged him. He rested his hands on my waist as he pulled out of the hug and kissed me, my hands around his neck.
"I know, but you deserve to be asked properly." He smirked and I chuckled as the whole football team cheered around us.

game day
The next story in my American High School AU is here!
Charlie, Tara, Darcy, Elle, and Tao all go to the homecoming game to support Football King Nick Nelson. This picks up the day after away jersey (which you can read here or here!), and I’m really proud of it.
You can read it on ao3 or under the cut!
“Ah, noooo!” Tao protested as Elle approached him with a brush in hand. “I did not agree to this!” Charlie paused in the doorway as he walked back into the room.
“Aw, come on, Tao!” Darcy responded, applying her own face paint in Tara’s bedroom mirror. “Where’s your school spirit?”
“I’m going to the game, aren’t I?” Tao responded.
“It’s the homecoming game,” Elle insisted. “Please? For me?”
Tao sighed, defeated. “Fine.”
“Yay! Thank you!” Elle cheered. She kissed Tao on the cheek, and then sat him down on the side of Tara’s bed. She sat down next to him and painted a blue “T” on his cheek. Charlie smiled, admiring his own face paint: a Truham “T” on one cheek and a number 10 on the other.
“Okay, so what do you think?” he asked, as he gestured to his outfit. He’d decided to layer Nick’s jersey over his favorite from his collection of stolen Nick hoodies: the blue one Nick let him borrow the very first time he went to Nick’s house. And of course, his signature jeans and converse.
“You are absolutely adorable,” Darcy said. Charlie smiled, and sat cross-legged on the floor. He couldn’t believe he was going to wear Nick’s jersey to an actual football game. It was such a little thing, but it felt like a huge deal at the same time. It wasn’t the first game since Nick had come out, and every time he saw Nick’s teammates’ girlfriends wearing theirs, he felt a little twinge of jealousy. Charlie hadn’t wanted to push things too far too fast, though. He knew Nick was still adjusting to being out, and wanted to let Nick make the decision on his own. So when Nick had asked Charlie yesterday, he was overjoyed. Getting to wear the jersey was exciting enough for him on its own. But to wear it for the first time to Nick’s senior homecoming game… Charlie knew it meant a lot to Nick, too.
Tara walked in just then, her own face painted modestly with a royal blue stripe under each eye. She held a large sheet of oak tag tucked under her arm. Charlie knew she and Elle had worked on some kind of poster the day before, but he hadn’t seen it yet.
“Are we all ready, then?” Tara asked, surveying the room. Charlie looked around, too. Elle and Tao were still sat on the bed. Elle wore a Truham High sweatshirt with navy, light blue, and white fireworks painted on her face, and Tao wore a plain, light blue t-shirt. It was the closest to “school spirit” he would agree to, given that he did not like sports and wouldn’t be caught dead at a football game if it weren’t for Nick and Charlie. Darcy had gone all out: half of her face was painted navy, and the other half light blue. She wore a blue t-shirt, on which she had written “Go Knights!” and “Go Nick!” with fabric paint. Tara had a similar shirt, also made by Darcy.
“Looks like it!” Darcy cheered. “I call shotgun!” She burst out of the room, with everyone else following closely behind.
When they arrived, the Truham field was already packed. Thankfully, Sarah Nelson had agreed to arrive early and save seats for them, so Charlie wasn’t worried as he, Elle, Tao, Tara, and Darcy walked from Tara’s car to the stands. They found Sarah easily, sitting on the first row of bleachers, holding a travel mug of tea and wearing one of Nick’s Truham Football sweatshirts. She waved as they approached, and pulled Charlie into a warm hug.
“Hello, Charlie! Hello, everyone!” she said, gesturing to the empty space beside her. Everyone sat down. Charlie turned and looked at everyone around them. The Truham side was a sea of blue and white. Had the entire school come? It wasn’t likely, but it felt that way by Charlie’s estimate.
“Okay, we need a picture!” Darcy said, practically bursting with energy. She pulled Tara to her feet. “Get the poster.” Tara reached behind her to unveil the poster she and Elle made. Charlie and Sarah burst out laughing. Elle had painted a portrait of Nick with a crown on his head, and written the words “Football King Nick Nelson” next to it.
“Do you think he’ll like it?” Elle asked.
“It’s amazing,” Charlie insisted. “And if he doesn’t want it, I do.”
“Okay come on, Charlie, you get in the middle. Tao, Elle, you on this side. Tara and I will get on the other side.” Darcy said. “Mrs. Nelson, do you mind taking the picture for us?” she added, holding out her phone.
Sarah stood, and took the phone. “Not at all dear,” she said “As long as you make sure I get to keep that poster.” Darcy nodded.
“Of course!” Darcy took her place next to Tara, who proudly held the “Football King” poster. Mrs. Nelson stood across from them.
“Oh, that’s lovely,” she said, taking several photos before passing the phone back to Darcy.
“Oh wait! I’ve got an idea,” Elle said, taking her own phone out. “Charlie, we need one of you holding the sign.” Charlie felt his face go bright red. He knew this was coming. “Come on, it will be so cute!” Elle added. Charlie knew there was no way he was getting out of this.
“Okay,” he said, taking the sign from Tara. He held the sign in front of him and gave a big smile.
“Wait!” Tara interrupted. “You’re blocking the jersey! You have to hold it up over your head.” Charlie buried his face in his hands. He knew they were right, though, so he held it up, smiling once again.
“Oh my god that’s perfect!” Darcy said, watching as Elle snapped the picture. “Send that to me, will you?” Elle nodded.
A minute or two later, Charlie felt his phone go off in his pocket. He pulled it out to find three new messages in PARIS SQUAD chat.
Darcy: GOOD LUCK NICK!!!
Darcy sent 2 photos
Darcy: 🏈👑🎉
Charlie looked at the photos Darcy sent: one of the whole group, and one of just Charlie. As he read, more messages came in.
Sahar: omg you all look so cute!
Sahar sent a photo
Isaac: we’ll see you after the game!
Isaac: good luck Nick!
Sahar had sent a selfie of her and Isaac in their marching band uniforms. They were in the band room, warming up to play during the game. One more message popped up in the chat.
Nick: ☺️thanks everyone!
Then, another message came in, this time a text from Nick, just to Charlie.
Nick: You are so adorable. I love you.
Charlie beamed, and quickly responded.
Charlie: I love you, too. Now go focus so you can throw the ball good
Nick: 🤦🏼♂️😘
Charlie put his phone away, as the marching band came onto the field, playing a song Charlie couldn’t quite place. The conversations all around slowly petered out as the band continued to play, and stopped in the middle of the field. The announcer’s voice came through speakers at either end of the field.
“Good afternoon Truham Knights! Welcome to the Truham High varsity football homecoming game!” The announcer, James, said. “Let’s all give a warm welcome to the Roosevelt High School Bears!”
The opposing team jogged out on the field. The spectators on the other side of the field, dressed in green and white like the team, cheered. A smattering of polite claps came from the Truham side as well. The opposing team lined up along the 45 yard line. The marching band finished their first song and began a second. This time, Charlie recognized it as We Will Rock You. The cheerleaders came out and started leading everyone in the stomp stomp clap rhythm.
“And let’s give it up for your very own Truham High School Knights!” James said. The Truham stands erupted. The team rushed out onto the field, led by Nick, who was the captain and quarterback. Charlie stood and cheered along with everyone else.
“Let’s go Nick!” Elle cheered. Behind them, someone screamed “Long Live King Nelson!”, which made Charlie and Sarah both laugh. Once Truham’s team was lined up on the other 45 yard line, facing Roosevelt High, a sophomore girl Charlie didn’t know sang the national anthem, and then one of the referees gestured for the captains to come to the 50 yard line. Charlie watched Nick and the other team’s captain go over. They had a quick discussion, and then there was a coin toss to determine which team would get possession of the ball first. Roosevelt High won, and Charlie sat back and let out a deep breath.
“So,” Tao asked. “Does anybody here actually know how this game works?”
“Excuse me!” Darcy responded. “You are speaking to the undefeated lunchtime science hallway football champion!” Everyone burst into laughter. Darcy’s lunchtime science hallway football games typically ended with either someone getting hurt, getting caught, or almost getting caught. Each time, Darcy declared herself the winner, no matter the outcome.
“I’ve been slowly figuring it out,” Charlie said. “But Nick gave up on trying to explain it to me ages ago. Mostly I just cheer when everyone else does, and boo when everyone else does.” Charlie loved Nick, but he definitely did not love football. When they first started hanging out, Nick had tried to explain it, but Charlie just ended up staring at him like he was crazy. When the season started, Nick had tried again, but by the time the first game started, Charlie had forgotten nearly everything, and it wasn’t like he could just run onto the field to ask Nick what was happening. Sarah had been helpful, explaining some of the more straightforward parts, but it was still confusing.”
“Got it.” Tao leaned back.
“For now, you need to know that the other team has the ball and they’re trying to get it over there.” Darcy said, pointing to one of the two end zones. “And our team is trying to stop them from doing that.”
“Right, I’d figured that much out,” Elle said. Quickly scanned the field. “Where’s Nick?”
“He’s the quarterback, so he doesn’t play until Truham gets the ball.” Charlie explained.
“Oh,” Tao said. “Okay. So this game is confusing as hell?”
“Pretty much, yeah.” Tara said.
By half time, Truham was ahead by 7. Nick seemed happy when Charlie saw him before the teams went back to the locker rooms. Nick had walked past and given Charlie a big smile and wave. Charlie had nearly died, and by the time he had recovered enough to wave back, Nick was gone. He knew that Nick probably wouldn’t have a chance to look at his phone before the second half, but he sent a quick text anyway.
Charlie: sorry I didn’t wave back
Charlie: I was in shock that Football King Nick Nelson waved at me 😍😍
“I’m going to get some hot chocolate, does anyone want to come?” Charlie said, standing up.
“Ooh, I was just thinking of getting popcorn!” Tara said, hopping up. “Anybody else want anything?” Tao and Elle shook their heads.
“Are you going to share your popcorn?” Darcy asked.
“Yes,” Tara responded.
“Then I’m good,” Darcy said, and took out her phone. Tara and Charlie made their way through the crowd towards the concession stand near the entrance to the field. As they walked down the path from the stands, they heard a familiar voice behind them.
“Charlie! Tara!” They both turned around to see Imogen walking toward them.
“Hey, Imogen,” Charlie said.
“Oh my gosh, is that Nick’s jersey?” Imogen asked. She looked at Charlie and grinned.
“Uh… yeah,” Charlie said. “He gave it to me yesterday and asked me to wear it.” He couldn’t help but smile back.
“So cute,” Imogen said. “So you’re like official official now, yeah?”
“Um, I guess so?” Charlie wasn’t entirely sure what she meant. Everyone at school had known for months, so it wasn’t entirely new information. “We decided to stop keeping it a secret from everyone, and in Paris everyone found out.”
“I’m so happy for you guys.” Imogen added, smiling genuinely.
“Thanks,” Charlie said.
“I heard all about Paris, it sounded so fun!” Imogen said.
“Yeah, it was.” Tara said, jumping in. “We missed you on the trip.”
“I know. I was so sad I couldn’t go! Cheer camp and all that.” Imogen said. “Anyway, tell Nick and everyone I said hi!”
“We will,” Charlie said. Imogen started to head back towards the stands. “Bye, Imogen!” Charlie and Tara continued to the concession stand.
The cheerleaders had started their routine by the time Charlie and Tara returned. Charlie sat back down and sipped his hot chocolate. It was still too hot. Charlie watched as Imogen and the other cheerleaders did a series of pretty impressive lifts and flips, clapping and shouting along with the rest of the crowd.
Shortly after the cheer routine, the teams came back out onto the field. This time, Truham started with possession of the ball. Charlie watched, following along as best he could. There was a kickoff, and when Harry got tackled, Charlie couldn’t help but chuckle.
By the end of the third quarter, the game was tied. Roosevelt started the fourth quarter with the ball, but thankfully they didn’t gain enough ground to score. Once Truham got possession, Charlie nearly stopped breathing. He had already finished his hot chocolate, but he clutched the cup tightly in his hands, nearly crushing it. They gained a decent amount of ground, and in the fourth down, Nick threw the ball to Sai, who managed to run it into the end zone. Charlie, Darcy, Tara, Sarah, and Elle jumped to their feet and cheered. Tao looked startled, and clapped along with everyone else.
“YEAH! THAT’S IT BOYS!” Darcy yelled, and high-fived Charlie. They cheered again as Truham got the field goal, bringing back their lead.
Near the end of the game, Roosevelt nearly scored. Otis managed to tackle the player with the ball before he made it to the end zone, and everyone cheered. In the final play of the game, with seconds left on the clock, Nick managed to pass the ball to Christian, who ran it into the end zone. Everyone leapt to their feet, screaming. Even Tao stood and celebrated with the rest of the group. Truham had won 27-14.
Nearly all the Truham players gathered together for a celebratory group hug. Nick, however, pulled his helmet off and looked back towards the crowd. Charlie caught sight of him and waved excitedly. Nick saw him and ran over. Charlie walked towards the fence to meet him, and when Nick got there, he grabbed Charlie and pulled him in, leaning over the fence. Nick kissed Charlie, and Tara, Darcy, and Elle all cheered.
“Thanks for being my good luck charm,” Nick said, smiling. Charlie smiled back.
“Anytime,” he said, kissing Nick one more time.

Introduction: Football kits are more than just uniforms; they are symbols of pride, identity, and history. Retro football kits, in particular, evoke nostalgia and bring back memories of legendary matches and players. In this article, we will explore some of the most iconic retro football kits of all time, celebrating their unique designs and the eras they represent.

Exploring Alternative Designs and Accents for Black Football Practice Jerseys
The black football practice jersey is a classic staple in the world of football, known for its sleek and powerful aesthetic. However, there's much more to this iconic piece of athletic wear than meets the eye. Exploring alternative designs and accents can transform the traditional black football practice jersey into a unique and personalized garment that enhances team spirit and player performance. We'll delve into various innovative design ideas and accents that can make your black football practice jersey stand out.
Adding Pops of Color
Contrasting Colors
One of the simplest yet most effective ways to enhance a black football practice jersey is by incorporating contrasting colors. Adding vibrant colors such as neon green, electric blue, or bright red can create a striking visual impact. These accents can be used for player numbers, names, and team logos, making them pop against the black background.
Color Blocking
Color blocking involves using large, solid blocks of contrasting colors to create a bold and modern look. This technique can be applied to the sleeves, shoulders, or sides of the jersey. For instance, a black football practice jersey with white sleeves or a bold stripe down the side can give a fresh and contemporary twist to the traditional design.
Embracing Patterns and Textures
Camouflage and Abstract Patterns
Introducing patterns like camouflage or abstract designs can add a dynamic element to black football practice jerseys. These patterns can be subtle, with shades of black and gray, or more pronounced with additional colors. Camouflage patterns, in particular, can evoke a sense of ruggedness and readiness, ideal for the competitive nature of football practice.
Textured Fabrics
Utilizing textured fabrics, such as football mesh practice jerseys, can enhance both the appearance and functionality of the jersey. Mesh materials not only add a unique visual texture but also improve breathability and comfort during intense training sessions. Textured accents on the shoulders or sides can break the monotony of a plain black jersey, adding depth and interest.
Innovative Customization
Personalized Graphics
Custom graphics are an excellent way to make a black football practice jersey unique. This can include intricate designs, player nicknames, or motivational quotes. Advanced printing techniques allow for high-quality, durable prints that won't fade or peel over time. Personalization fosters a sense of individuality and pride among players, boosting team morale.
Reflective Accents
Incorporating reflective materials into the design of a black football practice jersey can serve both aesthetic and practical purposes. Reflective stripes or logos not only look cool but also enhance visibility during low-light conditions. This is particularly useful for early morning or evening practices, ensuring players remain visible and safe.
Experimenting with Fabric Technology
Performance Fabrics
Modern advancements in fabric technology have led to the development of performance fabrics that enhance athletic performance. Moisture-wicking materials keep players dry by drawing sweat away from the body, while fabrics with built-in UV protection can safeguard against harmful sun rays during outdoor practices.
Sustainable Materials
As sustainability becomes increasingly important, many manufacturers are turning to eco-friendly materials for their practice jerseys. Fabrics made from recycled polyester or organic cotton offer the same durability and performance as traditional materials but with a lower environmental impact. Choosing a black football practice jersey made from sustainable materials reflects a commitment to environmental responsibility.
Conclusion
The black football practice jersey remains a timeless and essential piece of athletic wear, but exploring alternative designs and accents can elevate its appeal and functionality. From contrasting colors and bold patterns to innovative customization and advanced fabrics, there are countless ways to enhance the traditional black jersey. These design choices not only improve the aesthetic appeal of the jersey but also contribute to better performance and team unity. By embracing creativity and innovation, teams can transform their black football practice jerseys into symbols of pride and excellence.

Tweet by Quds News Network (@\QudsNen) that says: "#Chilean football team Deportivo Palestino players came to a match with the Palestinian flag and Kufiyyah. #Palestine". Attached is a video of a line of players wearing jerseys with the Palestinian flags and a Kufiyyah around their necks.
The addition above says, in tiny text: "Club Deportivo Palestino is a professional football club based in Santiago, Chile 🇨🇱. It was founded in 1920 by Palestinian immigrants who arrived in Chile and, over time, formed what is today the largest Palestinian community outside the Middle East. Estimates of the number of Palestinian descendants in Chile range from 450,000 to 500,000.
The colors that identify Club Deportivo Palestino are those of the Palestinian flag 🇵🇸"
Attached is a picture of their symbol, which is a shield with three vertical stripes (white, green, and red) with a black sash that says "palestino" in white text. There are two stars over it. Following is a picture of 3 of their jerseys. One is black, with a green and a red stripes in a V over their chest. The second is the same, but the jersey itself is white instead of black. The third jersey has vertical stripes in the colors of the Palestinian flag. All of them are sponsored by the Bank of Palestine, and have their symbol on the left side.
The comment continues, still in tiny text, "In January 2014, Palestino was fined the equivalent of $1,300 for using a new team jersey in the club's traditional colors, red, green and black, but with the number one in the squad numbers on the back shaped as the map of Palestine prior to the creation of Israel in 1948."
The next attached picture shows players wearing the striped jersey. Among them are number 11 and number 14, both of which have the "1"s in their jerseys represented by a map of historical Palestine, which is tall and thin looking.
The commenter finishes: Chilean Jewish groups complained about the political significance of this, with a formal complaint to their national Federation. The Federation banned the club from using the map on the back of the shirts and imposed a fine on the club on the grounds that the Federation is opposed to "any form of political, religious, sexual, ethnic, social or racial discrimination". On its Facebook page, Club Deportivo Palestino stated:
“For us, free Palestine will always be historical Palestine, nothing less.”
The last part is in normal sized text, bolded. End ID + PT]

So I'm thinking... he was like-
"Oi, I want sumthin' like this jersey. Yeah yeah, but make it greener and just plain white. I actually like that it's from Plymouth Argyle because they have a fookin' boat on their logo, yeah yeah. Luv boats! I got me a compass ta-oo, have you seen it? Anyway, sumthin' special might have happened there too, in Plymouth, on January 5 2012, after the tour bus got in a car crash the night before, but I'm not telling you any more, ha-ha-ha-ha.
Right, now... *cracks knuckles* I want to add the Yorkshire rose on me right, because I'm from Doncaster, OBVIOUSLY, but also when people google Yorkshire rose + football, they'll get the Leeds football team, yknowotimean, ha-ha-ha-ha. They'll fookin' luv it, because Leeds anniversary is 2 days before the festival. Wot? Oh, no, don't ask me to explain Leeds anniversary, read a tumblr masterpost or sumthin'.
Now on me left, right on me heart, I want to add a bouquet of roses... Six? Seven? Doesn't ma-er, it means I'm in luv with the other lil shit, they'll get it, that's an easy one. Wot? No, no, I swear there's no more meaning to the roses.
Right. Now... I have to bring some sort of attention to where Home is, y'know being the theme of the festival and all. And I want it right underneath the roses. So Home's not here, Home's in LA right now. Yeah yeah, you're catching on, right? Ha-ha-ha! So what could be a very cryptic clue to LA...? GOTIT! The Olympic games will be there in 2028, right, that's perfect! Ha-ha-ha, 2028, that's proper funny, right! Now, how to make it cryptic as fuck? I'm thinkin' maybe "L2A8"? They might think it's a football thing, it always is, yknowotimean, ha-ha. Nah, they'll clown right away. It's gotta be more cryptic... *sees an official programme for a past football match on a table that's been there the whole time* GOTIT! Alright yeah *gestures with hands in front of him as if seeing something in the horizon*, "28 official programme", because these programmes are where the info for the events are, right? *brandishing the programme* There's only one big event in 2028 so far and it happens to be in LA, I luv these coincidences! I know I already typed out a diatribe but examples of weird shit parents did while I worked at the studio:
1. Dads who thought the pastel blue blankets we used for newborns were “too girly”
2. Moms who insisted on putting giant headbands with bows on their newborn girls even though it caused their newborns to cry and fuss
3. A dad who thought your regular sock monkey was too “gay” for his baby son
4. The aforementioned grandma who got mad I called her 6-8 month old granddaughter “buddy” because “she’s a girl, not a boy”
5. The dads who put their newborn sons in sports jerseys and had footballs or whatever and didn’t want to do any photos of just the newborn swaddled in a plain blanket
6. The dads (and the moms sometimes) getting weird about what props to use with the babies/toddlers (like chalkboards/letterboards, a fake bath tub with rubber ducks, tea sets and stuff was a no go for boys and stuff like sport equipment and bikes being a no go for girls to these people??)
7. Parents getting weird about editing photos for the babies, IE we had these templates we can drag and drop photos into and a really popular one was to do a black and white photo of the baby and then put a pastel blue vignette around it for a baby boy or a pastel pink vignette around it for a baby girl and some folks again thought the pastel blue was too “girly” for their baby boys
Honestly I’m sure there’s more but I forgot some of them for my own sanity but I do recall some parents let their little boys run around and throw shit and yell but told their girls to sit down and “be pretty” 🙄
And of course not all parents/grandparents were like this, a lot of them were just happy if their kids didn’t cry or sat down long enough to take a non blurry photo, and of course with senior photos (my favorite to do because the kids were old enough to follow directions and had ideas they wanted to try, they were excited to collab with me) the kids got to do whatever they wanted to do regardless.
But yeah. Even in my tiny microcosm I saw first hand how weird parents get about literal infants and toddlers. I can’t imagine how they acted as their kids got older. And frankly this was long enough ago some of those kids are now in middle school or high school and I dread if their parents are still treating them like that.
An influencer I follow on insta who posts about her and her wife’s journey in both of them trading off being pregnant and having children posted about how (at least where she lives in the UK) they’re talking about banning ear piercing on babies and how her and her wife won’t get their kids’ ears pierced until they’re old enough to ask for it has caused predictable drama in the comments.
Like a lot of people use the argument “well I’m glad my mom got my ears pierced when I was a baby so I didn’t have to remember the pain or get scared”
And it’s like you support stressing out babies for no fucking reason? Why is society so okay with people doing painful shit to babies with no pain management “because they won’t remember it”?
I was reading a study about premature babies (as I was 3 months early myself) and you’d be surprised how often they do medical stuff to these newborns without pain management. And it turns out something as simple as having a parent hold the baby while a nurse does a blood draw or inserts an IV does wonders for the stress and pain levels of these babies.
Do these same people think we should bring back twilight sleep for childbirth as well? What a bizarre fucking argument. My parents made me wait to get my ears pierced until I was 11 and old enough to want it and take care of it myself. They have always listened to me about stuff like whether or not I wanted braces (for cosmetic reasons) or other such things. And that makes our relationship stronger.
Also I have a whoooooole rant about how piercing babies’ ears is almost always done on baby girls (who at that age, babies all pretty much look the same because they’re babies) and I swear it’s a way for people to be like “yes my baby has short hair because she’s only a few months old but her ears are pierced, can’t you tell she’s a GIRL” in the same way they have weird baby nail polish and glue to stick bows to babies who barely have hair.
Like Christ alive dudes stop treating your baby daughters like dolls and stop enforcing gender norms on them as soon as they exit the womb?? Like the amount of girls I know growing up whose moms dressed them in cute clothes and then got mad if they dared to kid things and got them dirty from playing outside or got paint on them or something. You’re teaching these kids from a young age they should spend their time looking pretty and just sit there instead of exploring and having fun.
Kids DO develop personalities and wants and likes but when they’re not even a year old do we really need to be enforcing gender norms like this?? It’s a baby. They spend their time sleeping and pooping me putting everything in their mouths. Good lord.
But I worked at a photo studio for almost 18 months taking photos of many different kids of different ages and yeah, parents and grandparents can be fucking insane about how they enforce gender norms on kids who can’t even talk yet. I had a grandpa yell at my cause I called her 8 month old grand daughter “buddy” (something I called all kids there, bc it’s gender neutral????)

Rating Beyblade season 1 drip
1) For once one of these posts that don’t have spoilers. I realized that after I finished it
2) Long ass post. I am rating every fit in the anime. At least I didn’t include images (they are linked if you want to see them, but don’t take up post space
3) The ratings are relative to the franchise. A 2/10 on this list is the equivalent of a 6/10 irl
4) This is based purely on how good it looks. I’m not going to delve into any symbolism present in these designs
5) I originally intended for this to cover all series. Then I realized how absurdly long that was, so I made it just BSB. Then I realized that was still too long, so it’s just season 1
Tyson: 5/10. It looks good, but it also doesn’t have that much originality. The ponytail saves it
Kai: 7/10. It’s an incredibly stupid fit and I love it The tight, probably leather tank top that shows off his biceps is already a lot, and then you have the gauntlets. And the scarf. And the facepaint
Ray: 6/10. I’m generally not a fan of this fit, but god that 5 foot long ponytail is amazing
Max: 1/10. This is one of the few fits that I don’t like at all. Mainly, it’s the orange overalls that stand out too much and don’t have much detail
Kenny: 2/10. Very plain design, and while purple and green should stand out as a color combination, it’s too subdued here
Lee: 3/10. It shows too much of his abs and not enough at the same time. It’s like he couldn’t decide whether or not to show abs and went “show just a little.” The pants also don’t help, but that open shirt is good
Mariah: 5/10. I don’t know why but everything about this fit just works
Nightwear Mariah: 2/10. I get that the clothes you sleep in don’t have to be drippy but this is just alright for what it is
Gary: 3/10. It’s only saved by the hair. I get that they wanted to show his muscles, but they could’ve done it better
Kevin: 4/10. I’m sorry but that color scheme just doesn’t do it for an otherwise much better look
Bruce: 3/10. Basic, but not bad
Shirtless Bruce: 4/10. There is more contrast between the black parts and his skin than there was with black and grey
Michael: 5/10. It’s a baseball outfit, but the colors stand out in such a way that it improves it a lot
Emily: 2/10. It’s very plain
Lab coat Emily: 3/10. The lab coat adds on to an otherwise plain design
Steve: 4/10. This should be a real football uniform
Eddy: 3/10. It’s a basketball uniform
Andrew: 1/10. Leaving aside his cranial anatomy, his fit has nothing going for it. It’s just a very plain basketball jersey, not even as detailed as Eddy’s
Antonio: 4/10. It’s pretty standard, but it works
Billy: 4/10. I like the black shirt with the green jacket, but I feel like something’s missing
Nicky: 0/10. Extremely plain design with no interesting elements to it
Riley: 2/10. More interesting than Nicky, but still very plain
Judy: 3/10. It looks alright, but all the purple would work better with another color to contrast against
Lab coat Judy: 4/10. It’s her regular clothes but with white to contrast against
Douglas: 3/10. Business suit that looks alright but nothing special
Tony: 6/10. Sleeveless? Check. Crop top? Check. Jacket? Check. Glasses and headphones? Check
Andy: 3/10. It’s just ok
Pee Wee: 6/10. Absolutely love the cowboy look
Robert: 7/10. The fit is alright, but the shoulder pads truly elevate it
Armored Robert: 6/10. I like armor, but Robert’s is the least interesting of them
Johnny: 4/10. I like ripped sleeves, but the shirt having regular sleeves takes away from that. I also love the bandana
Armored Johnny: 8/10. I love his armor. I don’t know if it was intentional, but the armor gives him an hourglass figure
Enrique: 4/10. Stylish, but doesn’t stand out as particularly drippy
Armored Enrique: 8/10. I love armor. I love the sword ripcord. I love horns. What’s not to like?
Oliver: 4/10. I’m not that much of a fan, but he succeeds wat what he was trying to achieve
Armored Oliver: 6/10. I like armor, but this isn’t armored enough to be more than a 6
Tala: 7/10. A fiery color scheme with a fit suited for cold weather? Count me in
Bryan: 4/10. Decent, but nothing special
Spencer: 5/10. 2 of those points come from his hat
Ian: 3/10 The goggles save this otherwise subpar fit
Priest Boris: 1/10. I know he’s a priest, but that doesn’t mean he has to look like that. This is Beyblade. He could wear a crop top and still fit right in
Masked Boris: 4/10. I like that mask, but the rest just doesn’t do it for me
Voltaire: 3/10. The cape-like look saves it
Alexander: 3/10. It’s not bad, just kinda boring
Sanguinex: 5/10. “You know how vampires were originally conceived as horrifying creatures, akin to modern interpretations of zombies? And how recent takes on vampires, such as Twilight, have made them sexy? What if I was both?”
Lupinex: 4/10. I appreciate the “dog boy but it’s a middle aged man” aesthetic, but the robes could use some work. They work for Sanguinex, but not so much here
Zomb: 4/10. Nothing special here, but the robes work pretty well
Cenotaph: 5/10. Pulls off the robes better than any of his teammates
Carlos: 5/10. The bandana, demon shirt, and denim jacket all come together to create a pretty good fit
Stuart: 7/10. This looks exactly like something I’d wear
Casey: 3/10. The only thing that saves it here is the hat
Trevor: 3/10. The jacket prevents this from being a 2 or even a 1
Tommy: 4/10. I like the color scheme, but I feel everything below the neck could use some more detail
Andre: 3/10. Very similar to Tommy, but I prefer Tommy’s color scheme
Waylan: 2/10. All 2 points are purely for the hat
Bruno: 3/10. I really like the fur but that’s it
Bobby: 2/10. The fur is not as good as Bruno’s
Doug: 4/10. I really like the hat with eyeholes
Ronnie: 2/10. It’s not bad, but there’s nothing that I’d call good either
Robin: 2/10. Same as Ronnie
Unnamed Charming Princes blader: 2/10. See above
Chucky: 4/10. He’s effectively wearing a crop top, shorts, and a pair of goggles
Zippy: 4/10. I like the color scheme
Lippy: 3/10. Alright but not as good as his teammates
McSneeze: 3/10. Looks alright, but is nothing compared to the rest of the series
Typhoon Lewis: 5/10. The color scheme, stars, and the stripe pattern make something that I can only describe as “not explicitly American but very close to it.” I dig it
Jocelyn Heart: 3/10. The single star, white and blue stripes, and the rest of her outfit being pink results in clashing patterns that don’t work as well as they should
Jose: 6/10. He’s a cowboy and he has a gun
Pedro: 6/10. Partially because it just looks good and partially because I’m a sucker for characters that carry around weapons that aren’t actually weapons (like a sword launcher). Also, I love the design of that sword. We need more hollowed out swords in fiction (I know they’d suck irl, but if anime can keep making katanas useful I’m sure a hollow sword is no problem)
Miguel: 4/10. He’s a mariachi
Diego: 1/10. It’s just a plain color t-shirt
Fernando: 2/10. It’s just a plain color hoodie
Axel: 1/10. I’m sorry but the overalls just look bad
Mario: 2/10. It’s a soccer jersey, which is better than just a t-shirt but not by much
Frankie: 3/10. If the top was in a different color I’d 100% wear it. As it stands it’s just ok
Covered Luiz: 4/10. It’s a dark coat that sparkles. That’s kinda neat
Luiz: 6/10. Replacing the darkness with bright yellow and orange, and it works
Bianca: 3/10. While not anything crazy by Beyblade standards, her sense of fashion just lines up with mine. If this was a “would I wear this” list, it’d be at least an 8
Rosetta: 3/10. Good, but nothing special (and unlike Bianca, does not line up with my personal tastes)
DJ: 7/10. I love his design. The jacket, the bandana, everything
DJ in China: 7/10. A very slight downgrade from his normal look, but it’s so slight that it doesn’t warrant a lower score (unless I started going into decimals)
DJ in America: 6/10. I like it but the bandana is too good to replace
DJ in Russia: 6/10. The tuxedo suits him, but not as well as some of his other outfits
Grandfather Wong. 2/10. I couldn’t get a full picture of him (minor character moment), but he just wears purple robes
Gustav: 7/10. Stylish Butler
Piddlesworth: 7/10. He looks exactly like Gustav
Mr. Dickenson: 7/10. Old man with thick mustache, tiny glasses, red bow tie, and a bowler hat? It just works
Tatsuya: 4/10. The jacket collar is cool, and the rest is alright, but nothing special
Ryu: 4/10. I love his character, but his fit doesn’t live up to his personality
Ryu’s other look: 4/10. It’s barely any different
Taro: 4/10. It’s just decent
Jeff: 4/10. Basic lab coat look
