I got a button maker for Christmas and I want to make some to put on my kofi shop....
I'll probably do preorder batches so I don't end up making a bunch that never sell (like my stickers)
Thre real question is, what would people be interested in getting on pins?
Feel free to offer suggestions! I was thinking a pair w Ingo and Emmet but I'd like to know what else people might want to buy?
Example of the 2 smallest sizes I made for someone for Christmas (I just hand drew them on paper, but I'll do nice digital ones and print for selling ofc)
#pokemon#pokemon merch#button pins#merch suggestions#ill draw the art for them ofc and do some mockups for voting maybe#preordering would also help me to afford shipping materials bc i dont have any bubble mailers

So here's the conundrum
I think I've figured out how much I need to take in the shoulders by, that's not really an issue. The issue is a) the best way to do that and b) then taking it in at the sides
This is the instruction given for how to narrow the shoulders (make a tuck). It doesn't explain what you do about the rest of it (e.g. armholes):
This is the little ruler thing that you adjust:
And this is roughly how most online instructions and also the McCall's sewing book suggest you do it (though they are all talking about women's clothing). Notably none of them tell you what to do about the chest:
The other part of the problem is this is a vintage McCall's men's pattern from the 1950s and the vintage sewing bloggers aren't making that shit
#sewing#vintage sewing#1950s#i really don't want to have to do too much alteration#but if i leave the shoulders the whole thing is too wide and when i narrowed the shoulders they were fine#but the rest was still a too broad particularly the armpit-to-armpit measurement#comparing it to my fave 50s sport coat it needs to be about an inch less pit-to-pit#and i don't think i have enough calico to make another mockup#i could maaaybe alter my mockup w pins and such#and also there's no darts in this pattern bc it's basically a shirt jacket so i don't want to put darts in#pointless post

I'm feeling anger at myself and my full complete absence of marketing skill. I have designed unicorn enamel pin, but after counting understand there is no budget. Oh well, maybe someday I'll be smarter or little richer. Right now fast mockups to understand which size I like more.

After a solid hour and a half of mathing and reviewing my trig, I think I know what I need to do to cut out new panels of fabric (from a contrasting fabric) and extend the waistband enough to fit over my hips and be gathered by elastic.
#i think. i have the panels pinned and ready to cut but i’m scared#luckily it’s cheap fabric and i have more on the way so it’s not a huge deal if i mess up#then the problem will be figuring out what i messed up this time#this was supposed to be an easy project to give me confidence going into a more complicated project#that one at least has a pattern and i haven’t had a ton of trouble with the mockup#why is the fitted princess seam bodice dress easier than a triangle?

anyways absolutely delighted by how eagerly y’all enable me thank you for enabling my ridiculous whims
all this to say yeah i’m gonna get that pin made LOL. i have enough money earmarked for its production i think so the only thing i’m waiting on before i reach out to my manufacturer is nitpicking and fussing with the art until i’m 100% satisfied with it!
not sure if i’m gonna do pre-orders or not, but if i do pre-orders i might try to do something a little extra special for those. maybe some bugborg stickers or an acrylic charm or something?? i’ll have a better idea of what i could do once i get an actual quote for the pins and stuff but i’ll keep you guys updated on all that stuff as it comes along!
#gotta design a backing card tooooooooo aaaa#gotta go all outttttt#everyone was so nice in the tags for the pin mockup thank u <33#im gonna get y'all some physical bugborg merch even if it kills me#froposting

Augmented Hearts #7: Astra
More VN mockup art! This time it's Astra. She's the kind of person who's more comfortable in power armor then an evening dress, I think. 🌆👗💪
Wasn't going to be a gold dress initially but I found a nice ref.

Just a silly question but,
People of the UTMV fandom!
I have come here to offer a possible Kickstarter that I've been thinking about for the longest time
As of now I really have yet to really make designs for the Pins and actually have them in hand but as someone who loves both Undertale Aus, Multiverse, and all sorts of content that one can find here in our humble fandom.
Note that for the Aus with their creators still online and able to contact (such as Ink, Error, Anxiety, Mint, Cross, etc) I will be asking them beforehand as to make sure it's fine I am allowed to use their characters to make into pins like these just to be safe ^^
I also might toss in one of my own sanses at some point but the current ones I have in mind to start off with would be at least classic and Swap and if I'm allowed Anxiety, Ink, and perhaps more if The Kickstarter I plan is able to go over its goal (which as of now I am unsure how much exactly it will cost for the pins but I do know it's certainly going to be quite a bit lol)
Keep in mind I will be the only person aside from my mom who will be helping me with the Money side, perhaps later on I might have some friends who will help design the Pins but as of now, its just me and my mom
Remember!
this is only in the works and just a small Idea or Project I've been thinking about and looking into (on the topic of finding Manufacturers for the pins), they won't be perfect, and before more is done It's to note I am very new to this, not exactly the concept of selling but more so the pins so might take a while.
anyways thank you for your time and have a wonderful day/night!
(oh also ps if anyone has any tips as for a Kickstarter and general business things those would be very appreciated ^^)
#UTMV#utmv ideas#enamel pins#pins#sans aus#sans au pins#idea#kickstarter#Kickstarter Idea#Poll#doing a poll first just so I don't waste my time making designs I wont be able to really sell#on that note if say this does get traction I'll post mockup ideas for the pins#but not yet that comes later#undertale#sans au#sans au enamel pins

let's make some sleeves!
don't worry i'll put it below the cut, no one should be confronted with the horrors of drafting them on their dashboard without giving prior consent.
those first few photos are of the final mockup and the final sleeves. the first mockup was more to gauge length and the final width I wanted the cuff to have, so it looked like this.
I wanted this to have a specific lantern shape with limited gathers because this fabric is thicc so I sewed a 1/2" dart at each of the marked points, taking the bottom edge in by 11" in the process.
I ended up shortening it a lot just above where the darts ended, which left me with this.
I knew it would be easier to have a single seam going horizontally than sewing a dozen darts into each one, so I was prepared for this development. I probably could have drafted something much closer to this from the start but I wouldn't want to seem too competant.
I took out a lot of volume on my next mockup and settled on something very similar to what you see above.
then they were cut out from faille, the seam was covered with 1/2" horsehair braid to give them a bit more body.
now, for the velvet layer, I didn't want a visible seam. It sort of ruins the flow of the fabric's pattern AND the fabric's pattern runs in vertical stripes which don't lend themselves well to the curves of the sleeves.
so instead I fussy cut out pieces and overlapped them until they formed the correct shape without any obvious breaks.
It was only after I got these pinned and partially sewn that I realized I forgot to add the gold overlay beneath them and had to re-do it all.
I kept trying to machine-baste together the edges and the sleeves were like "no."
the faille folded over the seam point after I finished since the overlay was like 1/4" too short in some spots, because I didn't baste all the layers together before cutting them out and sewing them together (like I usually do).
I ended up doing it by hand, all but two of the "short spots" will be hidden in seams and the others were patched with additional appliques.
I sewed the appliques to the fabric below the horizontal seam, but this created issues with the drape when I attempted to carry it further up, so the layers are independent above that seam point, save for the top edge where they are basted/eventually seamed onto the bodice..
these will be finished with matching cuffs and cotton lining.
the bottom edges were gathered from 22" down to 19" prior to the underarm seam being done up, so most of the shaping comes from the piecing, not the gathers.
(the top edge is gathered a similar amount at the armscye.)
When going to baste together the top edges I decided to shorten the lining by about an inch at the center and tapering down to nothing at the underarm. This forces the fashion layer to puff out a little bit more.
Then they were sewn on and probably some other stuff happened that I forgot. Anyway, voila!

Just a little mockup idea for a pin. I’ve never made one before but figured it was a fun visual.
#dragon age#dragon age the veilguard#DAtV#emmrich volkarin#da Manfred#my art#I’d make one for myself at least#would be nice to have them on my bag#but I simply don’t have the funds to venture into fun stuff#just needed to visualise ideas and doodle em out before I internally combust from the overflow#also enamel pin moq is always so high#not sure what I’d do with 50 of them lmao#anyway just wanted to scribble ideas

Pattern!
#had a quick gander at the instructions looks followable obvs i'm making a mockup first#if for no other reason than i'm out of practice on the sewing machine#and ofc i still need to find some interfacing and lining but i now have a better idea of how much of those i'll need#i'll probs also trace the pattern pieces onto greaseproof paper bc obvs they're delicate and i don't want stick pins through them#pointless post#hey remember when 34-36" chest meant small and not extra small :|
