I choose to believe that once Tony Stark had Morgan, he was freaked out of his mind. Why? Well, his parental instincts were supposed to kick in once he laid eyes on her. Tony didn't identify anything like that appearing once he did exactly that. Neither did they start working after she fell asleep in his arms, or after they arrived home. They seemed to do their thing on Pepper, why didn't he feel something so very different and unfamiliar. Where is the thing that is supposed to ensure his child is safe and sound?
A few days later Morgan starts trying to take something dangerous and put it inside her mouth much like babies do. He instantly spots her doing that, and with a horrified expression in his face stops her. Pepper jokes "see? Your parent sense is working just fine."
That's when he realizes, he does have those. He simply didn't know that was what it was. The reason was pretty clear; he expected to feel something unknown to him before. Meanwhile Tony has already experienced that over the course of the previous 1.5 years.
He promptly loses his balance and breaks down in the middle of the kitchen.

INFINITY WAR Spiderman dust scene analysis: Why the fuck did it hurt so much?
Okay so hello, welcome, we are going to understand that one painful scene. Here is a video of my initial reaction: (Everything here will obviously include spoilers)
youtube
So back to analysing this bitch:
This movie as whole is a bit of dystopian masterpiece. It starts with two pretty known people dying and one being left floating out in space. With that start anything can happen. Anyone of our heroes could die. And here we have this OP man Thanos walking around collecting little gems so he can wipe out half the universe. The stakes are high and the movie keeps reminding us of that.
So this "wipe out half the universe" thing reminds us of danger all the time. We know something might happen. It's a writing phenomenon called "bomb under the table" you know it's there but you don't know when or if it'll go off.
And when Thanos snaps his fingers we see shit go down. We see all these side characters and all these heroes silently fade away. We see everything through Tony's eyes, but we think "surely they won't kill off the most important/loved ones" but the the king of wakanda fades and suddenly we hear;
"Stark, I don't feel so good"
and we think NO. NOT HIM. because guess what? Tony dragged this boy in and after that Tony has always been responsable and been there to save his ass. In Civil War Tony let the spider fight, and get hurt, but he also set a boundry that the spider was too much hurt and was done for that day. Even then we see how Peter wants to push on to impress Tony.
Tumblr media
Later Tony flies Spiderman out of the water he could've drowned in and makes him warm again.
Tumblr media
Even after that Tony helps Parker with the ship that Parker tries to keep together with his webs but can't.
Tumblr media
in the start of infinity war we see Peter on his way to work and impress until he physically can't breathe. He falls, but Tony got his back and gives him his Robo suit.
Tumblr media
Point is we see how competent and protective Tony is to Peter. He somehow always manages to find and protect the younger hero. The younger hero always thinks that he doesn't need all that help and that he always has more to show and more to give.
So towards the end of Infinity war when we hear Parker seriously admit that he doesn't feel good. That he doesn't have more to give and that he is afraid and WANTS Tony to save him. That hurts because suddenly we are reminded that he is a teenager. A child. A person that might be able to protect himself and stand alone, but not all the way, not all the time. And this time Peter admits that and wants that help that Tony could give him, except in this case he can't. The resourcefull mentor and hero Tony Stark/Iron man is rendered helpless. he has been able to help so many times, but not this time. not the time when the threate would mean certain death.
Tony can only watch and listen as the kid disintegrates in his arms.
Tumblr media
Summary: how to make a good death scene/all is lost scene Mentor x Student.
-risk we knew all along (gun under table): Peter could die/get seriously hurt
-risk get avoided most of the time cuz Mentor: Tony is there to save him though, no matter what that kid finds himself in
-breaking character: This confident mentor character stark that is very good at what he does is suddenly rendered completely helpless as he fails and the one he swore to protect dies. The lively, eager, naive and happy go lucky person layes down this "i want to prove myself cuz im strong" thought and instead replaces it with; "pls help me, i dont want this to happen" the total oposite of what he normally does.
-make the bad thing seem impossible (storywise) "how could a story abt heroes end with them losing?" and then make it happen anyway.

A unique past encounter with one of my favorite authors, J.M. DeMatteis!
Back when I still used to be active on Twitter before I finally decided to leave that hellsite for good (and that was coincidentally one month before Elon Musk decided to buy it out...), I would sometimes interact with well-known comic book creators and would occasionally learn some very fascinating behind-the-scenes information from them.
Most notably, I once joked about this scene from Spider-Man: Maximum Carnage (specifically from Spectacular Spider-Man (1976) #202 by J.M. DeMatteis & Sal Buscema) wherein Mary Jane has trouble concentrating on her book while her husband Peter is out risking his life to combat Carnage's massacre throughout Manhattan, stating the following: "I always loved this scene from 'Spider-Man: Maximum Carnage' where Mary Jane tries and fails to distract herself from her worry and concern for Peter’s safety by reading a terrible novel!"
Tumblr media
I got the impression that it was a "terrible novel" simply off of MJ's thoughts here, but the writer of this particular issue, J.M. DeMatteis, actually personally responded to my tweet and clarified that he actually meant to convey an entirely different meaning with this scene:
Tumblr media
BTW, I'm personally a massive fan DeMatteis' work as he's easily among my Top 5 personal favorite comic book writers (right alongside G. Willow Wilson, Brian Michael Bendis, Grant Morrison & Jason Aaron)! I'm particularly fond of his run on Spectacular Spider-Man alongside artist Sal Buscema (which Maximum Carnage crossed over into) from the early 90s, his famous storyline Spider-Man: Kraven's Last Hunt with artist Mike Zeck along with the severely underrated Spider-Man: The Lost Years & Spider-Man: Redemption miniseries with artists John Romita Jr. & Mike Zeck respectively from the otherwise infamous Clone Saga era, as well as his Captain America run with Mike Zeck & Paul Neary!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I've also had the good fortune of interacting with DeMatteis multiple times back when I was still on Twitter! He's a really nice, fun and charming person on social media!

the rey mysterio of the marvel universe
goddd i just want spider-man's identity to be his own worst but new york city's best kept secret. like i want him unthinkingly taking off his mask and like 20 people see, but if you ask them if they did? no they didn't.
the rule is unwritten, but very enforced. like, there are online communities dedicated to erasing any trace of the spread of his identity. a tourist takes a photo of him and posts it online? it's gone in minutes, and people send DMs to the poster anywhere from "hey, i'm sure you were just excited, but...." to "ill kill u if i evr c you, fuckin bitch".
any information on spider-man is only spread via word of mouth, and only spoken in hushed, awed voices. after several years of spider-man, everyone knows someone who encountered him:
"he saved my cousin. caught a falling billboard from underneath with his bare hands..."
"wow... i've never seen him myself, but he talked to my coworker's daughter for an hour after he stopped a guy from getting a little too handsy. apparently, his smile is 'dreamy'."
these secrets are freely given if you're kind, trustworthy, and show respect for the little guy. but the moment you demand information on him... "i don't know what you're talking about, buddy. he's just an urban legend the news likes to blame the city's problems on so we don't unionize or worse"
so as many times as spider-man ends up with out a mask, or accidentally introduces himself with a name that starts with 'p' and rhymes with 'meter'... on the record, they don't know a thing. because he does his best to help as many people as he can, so it's only fair if they help him a little in return.

☆ PAIRING : Marvel Rivals – Peter Parker x Fem Reader
☆ HEADCANON : How Would He Be When He's Obsessed?
☆ NOTES : English is not my first language. Hope you enjoy!
Tumblr media
It starts simple.
You're someone he meets on the battlefield—a fellow fighter, not a villain, but not a hero either. Maybe you’re with SHIELD. Maybe you’re a scientist pulled into the chaos. Maybe you’re just really good with a sword, or tech, or your fists. Either way, you're competent. Quiet. Mysterious. You don’t fawn over him, don’t praise his quips, and when he swings down to help you? You barely glance up and mutter, “I had it handled.”
He’s stunned. Not offended. Not really. Just... intrigued. You don’t treat him like Spider-Man. You treat him like a guy in a mask. Like a person. It sticks.
He thinks about you that night.
He doesn’t mean to. But he does. The way you moved, the way you didn’t hesitate to kill when it was necessary. There’s something cold and soft in you—like steel wrapped in velvet. You aren’t like MJ. You aren’t like Felicia. You aren’t like Gwen. You don’t want him. Which means he wants you.
The Obsession Brews Quietly.
Peter’s the type who knows when something’s wrong in his head. He’s not stupid. He’s hyper aware of his flaws, his grief, his trauma. But you?
You’re the exception.
He starts tracking your missions—not obviously. Not like a stalker (he tells himself). But he always “coincidentally” shows up where you’re sent. He’s cracking jokes like always, swinging around like always… but his eyes? They never leave you.
You're polite. Maybe even friendly. You laugh when he says something dumb. You save his life once—he plays it cool, but he replays it over and over again in his head like a romantic comedy scene. Your hand on his chest. Your voice. Your breath on his face.
He starts journaling about you.
“Totally normal. Not creepy. Healthy outlet.”
He draws you in his margins. Tries to guess your birthday. Your favorite food. If you’d ever date someone like him. If you’d let him kiss you with the mask on.
And then he gets jealous.
Like, real jealous.
You get a mission with Tony. Peter spirals. Tony’s rich. Cool. Charismatic. You laughed at one of his jokes. Peter snaps at Tony, nearly punches him during a spar. He covers it up, but the rage simmers.
He googles “how to stop being jealous.”
Then he googles your name. Your social media. Your apartment. He tells himself it’s just to keep you safe.
(He finds your selfies. He stares too long.)
It turns.
You go on a date. Someone boring. Normal. Civilian.
Peter sees. He watches from a rooftop.
He follows the guy home. Just to look. Just to make sure he’s not hurting you.
But when that guy touches your hand across the table, Peter's claws come out. Figuratively. (For now.)
You don’t see your date again.
Peter doesn’t do anything obvious. But your date gets fired. Blacklisted. His car disappears. He has a breakdown.
Peter doesn’t regret it. You deserve better.
He thinks about confessing.
He writes a hundred messages. Deletes them all. He wants to tell you, “I’m Spider-Man. I’m Peter. I’m in love with you.”
But it’s not love. Not really. It’s need.
He starts calling you “mine.”
Not to your face. But in his head. In his journal. When other guys get too close, when you joke with Strange, when you look at Steve like that—his fists clench. He mutters, mine. Over and over.
He starts making excuses to touch you. Casual ones. Hand on your back when danger’s near. Pulling you out of the way. Wrapping you in webbing just to “keep you safe.”
You roll your eyes. “I can handle myself.”
He smirks. “Sure. But then I’d have to live with myself if anything happened to you.”
He finally loses it when you almost die.
A close call. You’re unconscious. Bleeding. He goes feral. Webs up the attacker and nearly beats them to death before someone (probably Strange or Cap) pulls him off. He screams that it’s your fault they were too soft. That it’s your life, not theirs.
He doesn’t leave your side while you’re healing. Sleeps in a chair next to you. Won’t let the doctors near you unless he personally approves them. Talks to your unconscious body like you’re already his.
You wake up in a hospital bed, arm wrapped in gauze, ribs aching, and—
Peter is already there, sitting next to you like a sad puppy. He look like he had three Red Bulls and a mental breakdown.
“Hey,” he says softly, eyes wide behind the mask. “Hi. You’re awake. That’s—cool. That’s great. That’s amazing. You have all your fingers, right? Can you move your toes? I checked like twelve times but I need to see.”
You blink. “Peter…?”
“You remember me!” He stands up like he won an Oscar. “I mean, obviously, but memory loss was a risk, and if you woke up and didn’t remember me, I’d—well, I’d find a way to make you fall for me all over again, obviously.”
You freeze. “What?”
“Nothing. You want soup?”
It gets weirder.
He never leaves. Literally. You wake up? He’s there. You close your eyes? He’s still there. You ask for water? He’s already holding a glass. He knows your favorite snacks, your music taste, the exact temperature you like your room.
You ask, “How do you know all this?”
He grins. “Lucky guess!”
It’s not. That’s a man with spreadsheets.
You try to leave the hospital.
Peter builds a web-cocoon around your hospital bed and pushes you back inside with a single finger.
“Doctor’s orders,” he says.
“The doctor said I could walk!” you protest.
“I’m the doctor now.”
“You’re a physics major—”
“With a minor in caring for you. Lie down.”
You lie down. You’re not winning this battle.
You finally ask him what's going on.
“Okay,” you say, arms crossed. “Are you… okay? You’ve been acting kind of… clingy.”
Peter laughs, too loud. “Clingy? Nooo. I’m attentive. Protective. Emotionally invested.”
“You bought me a dog.”
“Emotionally invested.”
“You named it after me.”
Peter looks proud. “You always said you liked golden retrievers!”
“I never said that.”
He looks away. “Your neighbor did. I asked.”
You try to set boundaries.
It doesn’t work.
You: “Peter, I need space.”
Peter: “Okay. Got it. Of course. You’re right.”
(That night, you get home and find a webbed-up man on your balcony.)
You open the window. “Peter, what are you doing?”
“Space! Look! I’m technically outside. Not even touching the building.”
You point to the mug in his hand. “Are you drinking my coffee?”
“Okay, but I made it inside, and then took it outside, so it’s technically still respecting your boundaries.”
You close the window. He waves.
Eventually, you… accept it. Kind of.
He’s insane. But he loves you. Like, terrifyingly much. The man built you a custom security system, memorized your menstrual cycle, and accidentally threatened your mailman once because he “looked suspicious.” But he also makes you laugh until your stomach hurts, brings you dumplings at 2am, and cries when you kiss his cheek.
You try to be mad.
You really do.
But then he shows up with a handmade hoodie that says “Property of Spider-Man (Emotionally and Legally)” and you can’t help but laugh.
You wear it.
The moment you really break is when you're having a bad day.
Awful. Exhausting. You curl up on the couch, and he silently webs over with a blanket, a hot drink, and your favorite movie already queued up. No jokes. No chaos. Just soft hands and a head on your shoulder.
You whisper, “You’re kind of insane, you know that?”
He hums. “I know. But I’d go completely insane without you. So.”
You smile into your cup.
You’re never getting rid of him.
And maybe… maybe that’s okay.
You’d been dating Peter for, like, maybe two and a half weeks officially.
Unofficially? He’s been yours since the moment you said “hi” back in freshman chemistry. He just hadn’t told you yet. Or anyone else.
Until today.
Until this stupid mission.
You were not supposed to come. You were supposed to be home. On the couch. Watching romcoms and ignoring the fact that your vigilante maybe-boyfriend (maybe-fiancé, maybe-needs-therapy) snuck out to do superhero things.
But then the mission went south. Someone said your name over the comms. And Peter. Froze.
He dropped from the ceiling like a possessed squirrel.
“WHAT?! WHAT DO YOU MEAN ‘Y/N’?! WHERE IS SHE?! WHO TOUCHED HER?! WHO EVEN LOOKED AT HER?!”
Reed (who already regrets ever recruiting him): “She’s fine. She’s just patching people up in Medbay—”
“You brought her here?!”
“You brought her,” Reed says.
“Oh. Right.”
Fast forward. Post-mission. You’re helping Natasha stitch up a wound while Peter hovers around like a vulture with anxiety.
Natasha gives him a look. “You good, bug boy?”
Peter blinks. “I’m fine. My wife’s here, so I’m fine.”
Silence.
Natasha looks at you. You look at Peter.
Your hand freezes mid-stitch. “Excuse me?”
He blinks. “What?”
“You just called me your wife.”
Peter squints. “I did?”
“Yes.”
“I mean—yeah. Probably. Feels right.”
“Peter, we haven’t even moved in together.”
“You have a toothbrush at my place.”
“One time!”
“You stole my shirt.”
“You gave it to me!!!”
He shrugs. “Same thing. Just… marry me?”
Natasha, still bleeding: “Is this a bad time?”
Later that week, the Avengers know. All of them.
Somehow Thor is the first to approach you. He slaps Peter on the back so hard it knocks him into a wall.
“Your lady is radiant and fierce! I like her!”
Peter: “I know! I know! Isn’t she perfect? She breathes and I ascend.”
You: “Why is Captain America saluting me?”
Peter: “Because he respects you.”
You: “I’m not in the military!”
Peter: “You’re in my heart forces.”
You try to have a serious talk.
“Peter, people think we’re married. You have to stop saying that.”
He looks genuinely confused. “Why?”
“Because we’re not married?”
“But we could be.”
“We’re seventeen.”
“Age is a construct.”
You stare.
He softens. “Look, I just… I don’t know how to not love you like this. I tried normal. But you’re the best thing in my entire stupid radioactive life, and if I don’t marry you I’m gonna die and haunt your bathroom.”
You blink. “What?”
“As a ghost. In your shampoo bottle. I’ll possess your conditioner.”
You laugh so hard you snort.
It gets worse. Or better.
You start getting mail addressed to Mrs. Parker.
He says it’s a “funny mistake.”
The next day, your driver’s license shows up.
New name. New address. “Mrs. Peter B. Parker.”
“Peter—!”
“I MIGHT’VE HACKED THE DMV BUT IT WAS A LOVE CRIME.”
Despite everything… you stay.
You let him call you his wife. You tease him. You kiss him when he babbles about baby names for the kids you don’t have (yet). You roll your eyes when he sends you "wifey memes" at 3am. And when he builds a second closet in his apartment just for your stuff? You smile. You fill it.
Because at the end of the day…
The insane, obsessive, stalkerish Spider-Man loves you more than air.
And honestly?
You kinda like being his whole universe.

“Where is she?”
Bucky’s voice cut through the otherwise quiet room.
The team didn’t flinch, accustomed to his daily grumbling.
Clint lazily flipped through a magazine, paying no attention to the scene unfolding.
Steve was polishing his shield, attempting his best to mediate. “Breathe, Buck.”
Natasha sipped her tea and barely looked up. “She’s fine,” she said, her voice unworried.
Sam barely stifled a laugh and leaned back in his chair. “Dude, she’s not your responsibility. She’s grown, man. You don’t have to track her every move.”
“Where. Did. She. Go?” Bucky repeated.
Tony was too busy typing on his tablet to care about Bucky’s panic. But the smirk on his face was undeniable.
He glanced up briefly. “Bucky, c'mon. You know she’s fine. She’ll be back before nightfall.”
Just as Bucky opened his mouth, he closed it once more. The door to the room swung open, and there you were, bouncing in like a ray of sunshine, Starbucks cup in hand.
“Bucky! Look what I got!” you chirped, instantly taking the edge off his simmering frustration.
His neck snapped around so fast you were sure you heard something crack. “Where did you go?” His voice was almost too calm now; you knew that wasn’t good.
You blinked, taking a sip of your iced coffee. “We ran out of my favorite coffee creamer and I went to drop off my almost overdue books at the library because I’m responsible.”
“By yourself?” he demanded, his eyes narrowing.
“Well, no,” you replied. “I had Peter with me.”
Peter, who had somehow remained unnoticed in the corner until this moment, immediately regretted his existence.
“Uh. Hey, Bucky,” he squeaked, his voice laced with panic.
Bucky’s intense death glare shifted to Peter. “You let her leave?”
Peter looked back at you in betrayal.
“I told you he’d kill me; should’ve never let you talk me into it,” he muttered under his breath.
You rolled your eyes. “It was barely an hour.”
Bucky, however, didn’t seem convinced. “And what if someone grabbed you, huh?”
You frowned slightly, raising the drink in your hand. “Then at least I’d have my coffee?” You shrugged innocently.
Bucky exhaled so forcefully you thought he might pass out from sheer frustration. “Go. Sit. Down. Now.”
With a sigh, you obediently went to the couch and flopped down.
Peter tried to sneak away unnoticed, but Bucky was already one step ahead. He grabbed the back of Peter’s hoodie with a firm grip.
Peter sighed. “This is it. I’m a goner. Say nice things at my funeral.”
You couldn’t help but laugh. “Come on, Bucky. It was just a coffee run.”
“Next time, I’m coming with you,” Bucky muttered, his voice still holding that soft edge of fondness despite his grumbling.
You grinned, too pleased with yourself. “As if you could keep up.”
“Oh, I could keep up just fine, sunshine,” he shot back, his words softer now, laced with affection.
He let go of Peter, and the boy scrambled upstairs.
Meanwhile, Sam exchanged a knowing glance with Steve.
That was never a good thing.
Still polishing his shield, Steve muttered loud enough for Bucky to hear, “You know, Buck, I didn’t think you’d be the type to get whipped like this.”
Sam snickered, his grin wide. “Yeah, man. Look at you. All tense when she’s gone for an hour. It’s almost cute.”
“Shut up, both of you,” he grumbled, clearly trying to hide his embarrassment.
Steve, barely able to suppress his own laugh, added, “You’re in deep, Bucky. You’re one stop away from buying her flowers and writing a song about it.”
“I swear to God, Rogers, I’m going to throw you off this fucking building,” Bucky threatened.
Sam leaned back in his chair, looking way too entertained by the situation. “You’re already whipped, Buck. Might as well embrace it. The song’s gonna be a ballad, right? Something with violins?”
Steve and Sam laughed, ready to keep taking shots at Bucky.
Without warning, Bucky grabbed a vase from the nearby table and hurled it toward Steve and Sam.
Sam ducked behind Steve, who instinctively raised his shield, deflecting the vase with a loud clang. The vase shattered against the shield, sending shards of ceramic skittering across the floor.
However, not a single person flinched. It was like this kind of chaos had become second nature.
You tugged on Bucky’s sleeve, your voice soft but firm. “Come on, Bucky. Sit down,” you said, pulling him gently toward the couch.
He let out a long, aggravated sigh but obeyed, dropping down beside you. “This is why I spend my free time alone,” he muttered under his breath.
“You’re right.” You leaned into Bucky’s side. “We should spend more of your free time alone.”
Bucky pretended not to shift to make you more comfortable against him. “Next time, I’m coming with you,” he muttered.
You hummed in acknowledgement, curling into his side like a content cat basking in the sun, slowly falling asleep.
With a quiet sigh, Bucky threw a blanket over you, pretending not to notice Steve and Sam stifling their laughter as he ran his fingers through your hair.

Baby Kiss It, Better
Peter Parker x Reader
Tumblr media
kiss number...13
You were half awake half asleep, in the couch of the living room, in your floor, facing the doors to the terrace Peter would climb in every night to you, your laptop on your lap with the lowest possible light setting displaying a halfway done crossword and soft music playing, nothing but some distant lights and the soft glow of the candles you liked to turn on, the velvety blanket on top of you, shielding you from the lingering cold in the room from the floor to ceiling windows, that, no matter what, kept cool, the calmest of scene suddenly disrupted when he stumbled in.
summary: Patching him up, ANGST, bby boy was shot and hes scared.
A/N: I kinda had in mind like Tobys and Andrews stories obviously, and I just feel like Peter would blame himself forever for not doing more or not being there, and getting shot for the first time ever would trigger something like this, poor baby boy needs a hug and a kiss...anyways hope you love it, thxx for reading, love u, byeeee. xoxo. -N.
p.s. my requests are open my loves<333

Seeming perfectly alive standing right in front of you, lifted a little weight of your chest, instantly replaced with something worse when you noticed he might not be as well as you thought. He struggled to catch his breath and kept tripping on nothing, his hand never leaving his side, you quickly scrambled to him, the previously serene ambient long gone.
“Peter? Are you okay?” You tried steadying him, hands trying to hold him upright, “talk to me baby, what’s wrong?”
He tried taking his mask off and failed completely, falling on his knees and then back on his ass, grunting to take his mask off, breathing hard, his hand left a print of blood in the carpet making you gasp out loud. You went to kneel beside him, helping him with his mask, helping him get it off, revealing the look on his face matching that of a scared, hurt, little kid, breaking your heart.
Sweat, blood, dirt, and tears were on his face, along with that look, he was still grasping his side, you went to place your hand over his, trying to push it away lovingly to see what was wrong, cradling his head, pushing away his hand, your heart stopped seeing the shot wound.
“Oh my God, Peter…fuck, baby talk to me please, what happened?” You pledged for him to make you understand the scene, but he was quiet, traying to catch his breath, his head fell back on the carpet, he closed his eyes.
“Peter, I need you to stay awake,” You grabbed his face and gently shook it, needing him to keep his eyes open, feeling and being grateful for finding an exit wound, he just needed a patch.
“Baby, I’m gonna go get the kit, just a minute, yeah?” You said, going to stand up, to with he grasped at your arm hard, panicking, pleading with his eyes, “I’m right here… baby, breath, look at me, I am right here… just going to the kitchen… one minute Peter… you're still bleeding…please,” So unwillingly you pushed his hands away, running to the kitchen for what you needed, then running back to him, with shaking hands first thing you pushed his suit dow to his hips, grabbed the alcohol from the kit and splashed your hands before throwing gloves on.
“This is gonna burn, baby, I’m sorry,” You poured on the wounds, he groaned, one hand on your thigh, squeezing hard enough to leave a nasty bruise, “I know, I’m sorry… I’m sorry,” You scrambled thinking of what to de. Everyone was out on a mission, it was two in the morning, there was no one on call, you hoped and begged to a greater force that internally he was fine, and that it was just the enter and exit wounds you needed to worry about.
Peter healed too fast for stitches, so you grabbed some of the special glue that had been synthesized for him, that dissolved as he clotted and other medical whatnot, squeezing some into the edges of the wound then going to squeeze to push it all together, his hand on your thigh moved to your arm, if he grabbed your a little harder you're sure he’d break something.
“Just a little more, baby, i know it hurts,” You repeated the process with the exit wound, now making sure both openings were sticked closed, stopping the bleeding. With some cotton and more alcohol you cleaned around the wounds, Peter relaxing back, silent tears falling from the corners of his eyes, you knew for a fact this couldn’t have hurt him this much, not physically, there was something else.
Letting the painful silence settle, you patched the wounds, with gauze then tape so he could maybe take a shower, just thinking of how to make him feel better, he was still, and quiet, the tears had stopped, an empty look in his eyes.
“Baby, please talk to me,” You raked fingers through his hair, he closed his eyes, lip trembling again, as he weakly shook his head no, shattering your heart.
“Can you stand?” He nodded, “okay, I’ll help you sit up, 1…2…” You helped him get up into a sitting position, he groaned. You stood up and pulled him with you, successfully getting him to stand up, leaning on you.
You looked back down at the mess of gauze, gloves, the scattered contents of the kit, blood everywhere, stench of alcohol, and a carpet you'll have to replace, making your stomach turn. You walked him to your bathroom, setting him on a counter, drawing the loveliest of baths for him, you helped him undress, stripping him of everything, the lost and scared look in his eyes, momentarily changed for a flustered one as he stood naked in your bathroom, letting you walk him and sit him in the warm bath like he was a little kid, but soon went back to empty.
You scrubbed and washed his body, the water darkening slightly, you washed his hair, and he closed his eyes, letting out a breath, frowning softly, face riddled with something you couldn’t point… guilt…pain…remorse…and so on.
“Please talk to me Peter… I’m terrified,” Soft fingers played with his wet curls. He shrugged gently, not being able to find anything to say.
“I got shot,” He said, after a long pause.
“I know…why?” he glared at you, then closed his eyes, the look on his face worsening. You took a deep breath, then pulled the plug to drain the tub, you helped him get up, rinse, and get out. You wrapped him in a big fluffy towel, drying him, careful with the wounds, wrapped in the towel you dragged him to your bed, sitting him down. You went to your closet and brought back a pair of boxers for him.
“Can you get these on?” You asked, handing them to him as he nodded, you climbed in bed as he got them on, dropping the towel, before slightly struggling to get in bed, he sat back in the headboard, letting you pull the covers over his legs, eyes still empty, head somewhere else.
“I’ve never been shot before…” he said in the smallest voice, tears welling up in his eyes.
He was scared.
“Baby…” You cupped his face, hugging him carefully, “It must’ve hurt so much… and the sound… I’m so sorry…”
“I-I’m okay…” He looked down, the tears in his eyes falling, he squeezed your arm, trying to talk.
“M-my…” His face scrunched in a quiet sob, you wiped his tears with your thumbs, kissing his temple, pulling away to look at him, trying to understand, he sniffled.
“My… my uncle… was s-shot…he died… when I was 14…” He squeaked the last bit out, sobs wrecking through him as you brought him in, and suddenly everything made sense, he wasn’t just scared, he was sorry.
“I… I looked for the guy…for weeks…I had him…I wanted him dead…I-I couldn’t… h-he stabbed me in the leg… got a-away…but now I… now I know what he felt…and he was all alone…” The sobs came back, and your heart broke further for Peter, tears of your own starting to sting your eyes.
“You were just, a boy, baby… it wasn’t your call…theres no way it could ever be your fault…even if there’s something you could’ve done… it’s not your responsibility” He held on to you, and your sweet words he wanted to believe, that his tortured savior complex wouldn’t let him.
“Let me see… it was on this one?” You placed your hand over his left thigh, he had calmed down, sobs stopped, he looked sad, exhausted more than anything. He nodded, looking away and closing his eyes, you pushed his boxers up, feeling and scanning for the scar, when finally right at the side of his upper thigh you felt it, he bit his lip, not wanting to keep sobbing like a child.
“Peter, you’re a hero… but you’re human…sadly, there’s not a single thing you could’ve done… we make choices, and I am so sorry the choices all the people around you made that night hurt you this much… but this is not your fault, baby…” You rubbed gently on the scar, and leaned down slowly, placing a feather like kiss on it, making him let out a quiet sob.
“I’m so sorry for everything you’ve lost,” You kissed it again.
“And I promise to always make sure you know that it wasn’t your fault,” You placed another kiss, sitting back up, to look in his eyes.
“I love you, Peter, and I will always be here to remind you of that” You kissed his lips, sealing your promise, to always love every part of Peter, even the ugliest darkest scars life has left on him.

Could we have a peek of what went through Dick's mind at the Zoo when he heard Peter's plans for World Domination with Dog or the research proposal for Ivy? Or heck, any of the bat family just randomly catching the strange plans he says out loud?
I was going to write something short for this, and then these 1500 words came out! (o′┏▽┓`o) Enjoy the above scene from Chapter 14 Dick's POV! It was an interesting perspective to write from as it's been many years since I've read any Nightwing comics! It's also not a play-by-play because I can't abide writing like that 🙃
Peter Parker was a strange creature and not remotely close to the kind of person Dick would ever think to see Jason settle down with.
Then again, Dick had never really thought Jason capable of settling down. Though it filled him with guilt to even think it (especially when Dick knew that Jason wasn’t without his share of romantic entanglements), he’d always thought of his little brother as someone who sailed alone. Perhaps it was the death, or just something about the fleeting nature of Jason’s relationships, but Dick always got the impression that Jason wasn’t even interested in sex or romance. That was certainly what he’d heard from Rose.
And then along came Peter, and Dick was forced to reevaluate his assessment of his brother. Not only was he a man — when all Jason’s relationships, as much as Dick was aware, had been with women — but Jason was invested in him.
Like, actively invested in Peter. Forcing himself to spend time with the family for Peter’s benefit, even though Dick knew Jason would rather extract his own teeth. Defending Peter when their siblings toed the lines of appropriate behaviour. Worried over how he was meant to reach out to a man who apparently held himself in the harrowing space between an unspecified traumatic past and the present.
In a line-up of Jason’s relationships, Peter certainly stuck out like a sore thumb. Granted, Dick was well aware that he was ‘painfully hetero’ (Steph’s words), but by all accounts, there was nothing particularly special about Peter — besides his undefined meta abilities. He wasn’t a statuesque goddess like Artemis, nor did he have an air of feral danger like Rose. He wasn’t even close to the refined — but toothless — beauty of that air hostess Dick was ashamed to say he didn’t know the name of. Sure, Peter had a nice enough jawline, Dick supposed, but otherwise, he broke the mold when it came to the romantic interests of Jason Todd.
There was something… vulnerable to Peter Parker. A fragility to his expressions that gave the impression he was permanently on the precipice of shattering. It was a far cry from any of Jason’s past attachments.
But perhaps that was what made it work. The Jason Dick knew — before Joker got to him — on occasion would slip into a caregiver role, especially when out as Robin. In a way, Peter was the logical conclusion to that tendency. Peter was clearly in need of people on his side, and Jason oh so clearly wanted to be someone who was needed.
It was clear even now, as Peter clung absently to Jason’s arm, taking in the zoo with bright and clever eyes, and Jason held their umbrella aloft between them. Dick doubted Peter was even aware that Jason was making sure he was the one to enjoy the umbrella’s coverage, which despite it’s impressive breadth, still wasn’t comprehensive enough to shield two grown men from the rain. Water dripped steadily onto Jason’s shoulder, the waterproofed leather sending the droplets cascading in pearly beads down his sleeve.
Dick wondered if Jason was even aware of what he was doing.
Of course, in other ways, Peter fit right into that line-up. He was clever, for one. Exactly how clever, Dick was hesitant to say, but Peter was observant. It didn’t take long for him to notice there was something up with the zoo.
“Is it just me, or are these exhibits like, weirdly well-made?” Peter said. He and Jason were pressed so close together, their coats would have made a peeling noise if they were pulled apart. It was adorable. “Pretty sure those trees—” Peter pointed at the gibbons enclosure, “should not be as happy as they are in a place like Gotham. They’re tropical.”
The moment Jason mentioned Poison Ivy, Peter’s thoughts took an analytical turn. He studied the rainforest like it was a scientific mystery he couldn’t wait to solve. Dick was familiar with that look: he saw it all too often on Titans and members of the Justice League.
It must have been a terribly cruel thing for Peter to experience, to have been ripped out his home in New York and school. Dick knew Steph joked that Peter’s family got sucked into a cult, but Dick suspected it wasn’t far from the truth. Whoever it was that turned Peter’s parents against him, to the point that Peter had to run away… well, Dick definitely should have pushed a bit harder to know what Jason did to them.
Should have. Hadn’t.
… Wasn’t going to.
“That’s… a bad idea.”
Dick decided it was time to insert himself into the conversation. He sidled closer to the two lovebirds and nearly laughed when all he got for his troubles was a pointed look from Peter and Jason — a mutual ‘what do you think you’re doing?’ — before they were drawn back to each other. Yeah… Peter might not be the kind of person Dick thought Jason would gravitate towards, but when they were together they made sense.
Even the way they flirted, quips bouncing between each other in rapid fire, made the two of them seem like a perfect match. Jason’s sly grin made Dick’s chest ache to see.
“I just think she’d be a fascinating person to talk to!”
“Yeaaah. Not sure if Ivy’d agree with you there.”
“Poison Ivy?” Dick had to fight hard not to laugh. As much as he would have enjoyed stirring the pot, he doubted Jason would be very forgiving if Dick suggested Ivy would be happy talking to some random guy. “She’s… not particularly friendly. To men in particular.”
Peter’s face fell. God, Dick felt a bit like he’d kicked a puppy. “Oh… What if I approached her with a research proposal?”
“Do you have one?” asked Jason, mouth curled into an indulgent smile.
“No,” Peter scoffed. “But I could make one.”
“You trying to dip your toes in a little villainy, Pete?” Dick couldn’t help but laugh. Nevermind his earlier thoughts about Peter: if he was already thinking of ways to ingratiate himself to Ivy for the sake of science, perhaps he wasn’t that far from the pattern of terrifyingly competent women from Jason’s romantic history.
Jason, unseen by Peter, returned Dick’s knowing look with a vicious glare. Dick chose to retreat a little and watch them slip back into their seamless flirting.
Was Jason even aware of how he smiled when he spoke with Peter? Softly fond, eyes crinkling in a way Dick hadn’t seen from him since…. Before. That was his brother. Little Jay. Happy Jay. Cheeky, wry Jay. The Jay that had been stolen from Dick and Bruce.
And there he was, resurfacing for this — this outsider. Some guy who’d popped up out nowhere, bursting into their lives without warning.
Why Peter?
Why weren’t they enough?
You know why.
Irrationally, Dick suddenly seethed with jealous hate for Peter. He could tell from the easy air between them that the camaraderie between Jason and Peter wasn’t performative. This Jason was the Jason Peter got to see every day. A Jason with an even keel, never looking like he was a few bad waves away from capsizing. Dick loved Jason even as he was now; he was proud of how far they’d both come since Jason’s first, brutal return to the city. But that didn’t mean he didn’t miss Jay. Jay, who’d been stolen from Dick far too young, before Dick could even really get his feet under himself and step up to the big brother mantle.
It was a petty and cruel emotion. Dick forced it away as soon as it bubbled forth, but he didn’t think he managed to school his face to completely hide it from his brother. After Peter had been dragged off by Damian in the reptile house, Jason sidled up to him.
“Spit it out then,” he said, and for fuck’s sake, he was already on the defensive, shoulders squared up like he was bracing for a blow.
This was the Jason that Dick usually met, while Peter got friendly, happy ‘Jace’.
Dick was so fucking tired of the antagonism. So he forced on a benign smile and clapped Jason on the shoulder.
“I was just thinking you two are a good fit. Let me know when you go looking for a ring.”
Jason choked on nothing but air. Laughing to himself, Dick strolled sedately in the direction Damian had dragged Peter and Duke in, though they were long gone by now. Comforted by his little brother’s mortification, the unfair resentment towards Peter was a little easier to push aside.
Bruce, inevitably, would be concerned, but Dick was hit by a wave of aching optimism.
Maybe Peter was the person all of them needed. It certainly seemed he was the person Jason needed. And though Dick could hardly say he knew Peter, he hoped , at the least, that Peter was someone generous enough to share his Jason with the rest of them.
Dick thought he’d be happy with a compromise like that.

In defense of Gwen in Across the Spider-Verse
Okay. First of all: This post is gonna be super long and have tons of spoilers so if you don’t want to get spoiled for Across the Spider-Verse then don’t read this post. I have seen way too many people hate on Gwen because of her actions and her behavior towards Miles in Across the Spider-Verse. I’ll show you why that hate completely misses her arc in the movie and her true intentions/relationship with Miles. This post will also delve into Gwiles/Ghostflower since that is a big part of what shapes her intentions.  Many people say Gwen betrayed Miles and doesn’t really care about him. They say Miles shouldn’t forgive her and that she is a snake for what she did. I’ll show you why the opposite is true by going through the events of the movie in cronological order: The movie literally starts off with Gwen talking about Miles. She is drumming away, which is, mentioned by herself, a way for her to cope with her feelings. That opening from Gwen is a small glimpse into her head. We see how she feels and what she thinks. The interesting thing is that it’s basically Gwen broadly narrating the events of the entire movie. We even see glimpses of future scenes in that intro. The line of narration that is most important here is Gwen saying “I didn’t want to hurt him. But I did. And he is not the only one.” This shows us IMMEDIATELY that Gwen did not intend to hurt Miles AT ALL. Quite the contrary. It also shows that she is AWARE she hurt Miles. She knows she fucked up. That is going to be important later on when she needs to make the tough decision regarding Miles/The Spider Society.
Tumblr media
We then follow her as she goes home, still thinking about Miles and then, of course, her Peter. Note that this is roughly 1 year after Into the Spider-Verse. 1 year after she met Miles she still thinks about him daily. “I haven’t really made any friends after that [Peter’s death], except one. But there is no way to get there.” She misses Miles and wishes there was a way to visit him. Obviously she still very much cares and thinks about him.
Tumblr media
At Gwen’s home we are first shown what her conflict with her father looks like. That conflict is obviously one of the main aspects of her arc and what drives her actions later on in the movie. You can see it is strained but you can still see that they obviously love each other very much. Gwen struggles as her father is basically hunting her down without knowing its is actually her. What pains her the most, though, is that her father is convinced that Spider-Gwen killed her best friend, Peter Parker. That way he, without knowing, makes Gwen feel guilty about the death of her best friend. Gwen is trying to get over Peter’s death but is held back by her dad, unbeknownst to him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gwen caring and missing Miles a lot is brought up again when she sees the picture of her and Miles that they made in Into the Spider-Verse (which she had made into a polaroid so she can actually have it on her/in her hands). Her eyes look on with sadness and her color is dark blue. The colors in Gwen’s dimension are used to portray her feelings. Dark/blue tones for sadness and light/pink tones for happiness/comfort. At this point, seeing Miles again is probably one of her dearest wishes. Miles understands her and knows who she truly is. This is going to be important later on.
Tumblr media
During Gwens fight with Vulture at the Museum we are introduced to Miguel O’hera, Spider-Man 2099, who saves her from Vulture. He introduces himself but Gwen seems unimpressed and uninterested. What she is very much interested in, though, is Miguel’s Dimension Watch. “You can go to any dimension you want with that watch?” She just met an entirely new Spider-Man and all she is interested in is his technology that might allow her to go and visit Miles. That is how much she misses him.
Tumblr media
As the duo fight off Vulture Miguel calls for back-up and they are joined by Spider-Woman Jessica Drew. Her and Gwen have an immediate bond which will be very important later on. Gwen immediately looks up to her and sees her as a mentor from who she can learn a lot. Gwen impresses Jessica so much that she asks Miguel if they want to recruit her for Miguel’s Spider-Society. “What about her?” “No.” “Why not?” “You know why.” Miguel and Jessica studied the entire Kingpin collider event. They know who was involved and they know that Gwen and Miles are friends. Miguel doesn’t want to recruit Gwen because she is too close to Miles. Why that is a problem we all know. (Miles being the original anomoly) From the start they knew Gwen’s relationship with Miles might end up jeopardizing their goal of protecting the Spider-Verse.
Tumblr media
We then go on to this scene. Gwen confronting her father and her father finding out that Spider-Woman, the vigilante he was dedicated to catching and locking up, is actually his daughter. This is a key moment in Gwen’s arc throughout the movie. Her father accuses her of lying to him. All Gwen wants right now is support from her father. She doesn’t get that, instead her father wants to lock her up for the murder of her Peter Parker. At this point she is immensely conflicted. “I don’t know how to fix this.” Jessica Drew notices that and convinces Miguel to let Gwen join the Spider-Society.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gwen seeing no immediate solution to her problem decides to accept the invite. She is not yet ready to confront the problem and walks away from it, despite being conflicted. This will be at the back of her head throughout her entire arc and throughout the entire movie. Until she is ready to confront her dad who, remember, wants to lock her up, she CAN’T return to her home dimension. Her going back would mean her having to confront a problem she is not yet ready to confront.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The next time we see Gwen is after we are introduced to Miles again. This is Gwen seeing Miles again for the first time after 1 year and 4 months. Her immediate reaction is to tightly hug him. You can, in that hug alone, see how much she missed him. You can also pick up all kind of little things in this scene. One is how awkward Gwen is. She is cringing at herself for telling him he had a growth spurt. There are obviously some unresolved feelings between the two.
Tumblr media
Gwen then goes through his sketchbook and finds Miles’ drawings of her. She is surprised to see so many drawings of her but plays it off smoothly. “Missed you too.” It’s obvious that both missed each other immensely. But we haven’t even seen the entire extend of how MUCH Gwen ACTUALLY missed Miles. We only find out about that a bit later.
Tumblr media
Miles and Gwen then swing through the city and catch up. Their chemistry is on full display here. I absolutely adore this scene. Gwen tells Miles that the Spider-Society is really strict about where she goes otherwise she would have come to visit him sooner. What’s important here is that at this point Gwen KNOWS about Miles’ “condition”. She knows he is an anomoly and she knows that his father dying is a canon event. And at this time she BELIEVES in these canon events. She thinks they must be upheld or the multiverse collapses. That’s what Miguel told her.
Tumblr media
During their swing Gwen uses a moment in which Miles is distracted to place her surveillance device for Spot. You can see, even with her mask, how much it pains her to keep the truth from Miles nd having to leave him in the dark. We find out: Gwen is not here because of Miles but because she is supposed to catch Spot since Spot is an anomoly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What follows is one of the biggest Gwiles moments in the movie and also a very important scene when it comes to Gwen and her feelings towards Miles. They sit down at the Williamsburgh Bank Building and have a heart to heart.
Tumblr media
Gwen tells Miles that it is always so great to talk to him and that he is the only friend she ever really made since Peter died. Miles, knowing about Hobie, says “Other than Hobie, right?” and Gwen answers “That’s different.” This shows us that Gwen’s relationship and feelings for Miles are different from the relationship she has with Hobie. That’s because she literally has feelings for Miles, and she knows that Miles, in some way at least, feels the same. “We’re the same, in the important ways.” Gwen then says a line that literally shows she has fallen for Miles, otherwise there would be no need for her to mention it. “In every other universe Gwen Stacy falls for Spider-Man.” This is Gwen telling Miles that she has feelings for him.
Tumblr media
Hearing that reassures Miles and he moves his hand closer to hers.
Tumblr media
This is important: Gwen sees this!
Tumblr media
And then closes her eyes and flinches. She flinches because she wants to take his hand so bad that it literally pains her that she can’t. We find out why she can’t with her next words: “And in every other universe it doesn’t end well.” Gwen knows about canon events and knows they need to happen. She was probably being told that Gwen Stacy falling for Spider-Man and it not ending will is a canon event.
Tumblr media
She then gives Miles a look that I can only describe as “loving”. She would probably love to tell him more about canon events and everything regarding the Spider-Society. But like she said: She doesn’t know how to. She doesn’t want to hurt him and she wants to protect him.
Tumblr media
Miles then tells her “There’s a first time for everything, right?” which makes Gwen chuckle and smile at him. It’s the first time where Gwen is confronted with Miles’ philosophy of going down his own patch and not bending to the rules of canon. Even if canon dictates something, Miles believes there is always a way.
Tumblr media
This rubs off on Gwen as she affectionately leans on Miles, enjoying the sunset with him.  Not only is this overall scene incredibly beautiful and masterfully animated but its purpose is to show us that these two indeed love each other. They want to be together but Gwen, at this stage, feels like canon is against them.
Tumblr media
Miles and Gwen then enjoy some food in quiet and keep talking about the Spider-Society and how Miles wants to be a part of it. Gwen, without being able to tell him the truth, shuts him down and lies to him. Again, she is not ready to tell him everything, the same way she is not ready to confront her father. These 2 conflicts go hand in hand as they are her 2 biggest conflicts that she has to overcome. Gwen then snaps at Miles because he was about to find the surveillance footage of Spot which would therefore uncover her true reason for being there. Gwen obviously doesn’t want that to happen because she doesn’t want to hurt Miles. She wants to keep him away from the Spider-Society because she knows he is an anomoly AND because she knows he wouldn’t be safe there.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After she snaps at him she immediately apologizes though. They both get REALLY close after that, closer than I had remembered from my first viewing. They also lock eyes. I’m pretty sure if not for Rio, Miles and Gwen would have kissed here. Rio interrupts them and they have an awkward talk. Rio and Jeff obviously think there is something going on between Miles and Gwen which is the source of the awkwardness.
Tumblr media
Gwen then gets a signal from her dimension watch which is caused by the explosion that Spot caused. She missed her time window to catch him because she was having so much fun being around Miles. Gwen quickly leaves after that, having to lie to both Miles and his parents.
Tumblr media
You can tell she doesn’t want to leave Miles. She wants to stay, but she can’t. She is conflicted. And she is conflicted throughout the entire movie. That makes her arc so interesting.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What follows is one of the most important interactions in the movie that show Gwen’s motives. She arrives at the explosion and realizes Spot escaped. Jessica Drew, who Gwen looks up to, remember, calls her and asks her where Spot is. Gwen tries to play the whole situation down, not wanting to be seen as a failure. That has one big reason: Since Gwen is a liability to the Spider-Society because of her connection to Miles she has to constantly prove her worth, otherwise Miguel will send her back to her universe. That is one of Gwens biggest fears. Having to confront her father again. She is not yet ready for that so she basically does everything that is asked of her, even if she doesn’t necessarily agree with it.  Jessica notices that Gwen is nervous and asks her if she visited Miles. Gwen again tries to play it down but eventually admits she went to see Miles. Jessica gets angry with her and Gwen tells her she will never see Miles again. Her voice noticeably breaks when she says that. That interaction tells us one very important point: Gwen was not allowed to visit Miles. AT ALL. Miguel has forbidden Gwen to see Miles. He probably also told her why. Miles is an anomoly and him getting entangled with the Spider-Society might end up badly. And Gwen, knowing all that, knowing she might risk the multiverse, knowing she might risk getting sent back to her own dimension and having to confront her father, STILL decided to visit Miles. That is how much she cares about Miles. She literally risked the stabilty of the multiverse for the opportunity to see Miles again. Even if its only for one evening. This alone should end the debate about how Gwen “doesn’t care about Miles”. She obviously does. A lot.
Tumblr media
This can be taken even further.  “You never made a mistake? Never got too close to someone?” This is literally Gwen telling Jessica that the reason she went to see Miles is because she has feelings for him. Jess replies by saying she did but that she got over it, prompting Gwen to do the same. We, of course, know that she can’t.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is one of the most emotional scenes in the movie for me. After Gwens dialogue with Jess she knows her only chance to stay on Miguels good side is to follow Spot to Mumbattan and catch him. She has to leave and knows she will never see Miles again. She longingly looks towards the rooftop she and Miles stood on just moments ago, not knowing Miles is invisible and right in front of her.  She whispers a last “Goodbye Miles” as she heartbreakingly decides to leave. As much as it pains Gwen, she thinks leaving now without explaining anything to Miles might hurt him, but it does keep him safe and away from the Spider-Society. It’s a lose lose situation for Gwen. She is fighting a losing battle. On one side she has Miles and the desire to be with him, on the other side the entire Spider-Verse and the conflict with her father. The fact she is even contemplating shows how loyal she is towards Miles.
Tumblr media
Miles follows her through the portal and catches her off guard. Gwen didn’t know he was listening and thought she would never see him again. Miles, being in another universe without a dimension watch, glitches and endangers both him and Gwen. Gwen then says that she “never should have visited” Miles.  She obviously meant the fact that NOW Miles is involved and they can’t go back now. She didn’t want Miles to be a part of it and now regrets that she pulled him into this. She is more angry at herself than at Miles here.
Tumblr media
When the canon event approaches Gwen tries to stop Miles from disrupting it. Again, a lose lose situation for Gwen. She knows (or at least thinks at this point) that disrupting canon events can cause universe to unravel. She also knows how dangerous canon events are and that there is a good chance Miles might die if he tries to intervene.
Tumblr media
Miles, not knowing about canon events at all yet, intervenes anyway. (Because he is Spider-Man, duh) While trying to save Captain Singh and the little girl he gets covered by rubble. Gwen and Hobie go down to the scene and while Hobie immediately helps Pav to pull up the bus Gwen literally makes a dash for the rubble and tries to find Miles. All the while screaming his name, her voice breaking while doing so. The relief in her voice when she finds him alive and well is very noticeable. (Great voice acting by Hailee Steinfeld)
Tumblr media
After disrupting the canon event, Miles asks Gwen what she thinks of the situation. Gwen, almost affectionately whispering to him, tells him that she always thinks that he is amazing. Another moment that makes these two get closer and it shows how much admiration Gwen has for Miles. Even after disrupting a canon event, Gwen thinks the world of Miles. This highlights her conflict again. While still believing in these canon events, Miles is slowly but surely changing her mind about them. He is not quite there yet but it’s coming.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We then go the Spider-Society HQ where Gwen introduces Miles to Miguel. Miguel immediately becomes hostile and blames Miles for disrupting the canon event. Gwen knows that Miles did in fact disrupt the canon event but still defends him.  “He doesn’t know any better:” Miles has no knowledge about canon events or anything related to it so he can’t be blamed for what he did. Gwen knows that, which is also a reason why she tried to stop him.
Tumblr media
Miles then finds out about the structure of the Spider-Verse and about canon events. Miles also finds out that Gwen did not only try to save him but also stop him from disrupting the canon event.
Tumblr media
When Miles finds out his fathers death is a canon event that has to occur you can see Gwen frowning. She knew this and now Miles knows it.  There is no easy way to tell that to someone. Not if you’re close friends and not if you haven’t seen each other for a year. It pains Gwen that Miles has to go through that, and on top of that she can relate to it as well, because...
Tumblr media
... Gwen’s father is also a Captain who’s death is a canon event. This adds another layer to her inner conflict. She believes in these canon events and therefore also believes that her father has to die. Gwen, in that aspect, is similar to Miguel. She accepts it, runs away from it. Similar to how she runs away from the conflict with her father.
Tumblr media
Miles confronts the other Spider’s and tells them he can’t sit back and let his father die. He then tells Gwen, referencing her earlier statement, that she was right and that she never should have visited her. Miles does NOT say that because he hates Gwen. He says that because he is distraught and because of the fact that if Gwen hadn’t shown up he’d still be in his dimension. (Where he wants to be to protect his father) Gwen starts to cry because this is OBVIOUSLY not how she wanted it to go and how she wanted Miles to find out.  The fact is: There was never a right time or way to explain it to Miles. Gwen isn’t an emotionless puppet that never struggles or is perfect. She loves Miles and she simply couldn’t bring it over her heart to tell him that his father will die and that he isn’t supposed to be Spider-Man. She wants him to be happy and to be safe, and from her perspective the best way to do that is to keep him away from the Spider-Society.
Tumblr media
When Miguel traps Miles to stop him from going home Gwen and Peter get really agitated.  “That’s enough.” “Stop it Miguel.” They don’t want to be on opposite sides to Miles. They want to talk it out. Of course the chance for that is now gone. You can still see that both still very much are on “Miles’ side”. Gwen is put into a situation where she is forced to choose between her friend or the Spider-Society.
Tumblr media
While they chase Miles, Jess confronts Gwen and tells her that even though Miles is Gwen’s friend, capturing him is the only way.  Gwen then tells Jess that that’s not what her gut says. This, again, shows her conflict. She KNOWS she is supposed to be on Miles’ side. It’s what her gut is saying. It’s what her heart is saying. Her head is still thinking that the multiverse must be protected, and that canon events must be stopped from being disrupted.
Tumblr media
She then listens to her head and tries to grab Miles with her web. The look on her face says it all. It’s pain, love and an apology all in one. Miles destroys the web, symbolic for their trust.  Miles breaks the net, he is saying that he doesn’t trust Gwen anymore.  Gwen knows that, which is why after Miles breaks the net her look is one of complete sadness and disbelief. Not disbelief because she couldn’t imagine Miles not trusting her but rather diesbelief because she can’t believe it has come this far.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She continues the chase for Miles because she doesn’t know what else to do. When Miguel calls for every Spider-Man after they found out Miles’ location you can see Gwen having a look of dread and defeat on her face. She did’t want it to go this far. She still wants to talk it out and make up with him. She feels sorry and is slowly starting to regret her choices.
Tumblr media
While on the train Gwen and Peter keep calling out to Miguel, telling him that he should stop and to take it easy on Miles. Miguel doesn’t listen.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This scene is where the trust between Miles and Gwen is broken completely. Miles finds out that Gwen knew all along that he is an anomoly and that his father is supposed to die. He finds out that Gwen didn’t know how to tell him that and that that’s one of the reasons she didn’t come to visit him.
Tumblr media
Gwen then tells Miles that its for his own good, a lie she told herself to make her feel better. She full on regrets her choices by now. She knows she made a mistake but feels too distraught to really do anything about it. Her world slowly comes crashing down on her.
Tumblr media
Miles is able to overpower Miguel and sends him flying down the train. The way Gwen looks down at Miguel is really interesting. Its a look of pride and relief. She is proud of how far Miles has come that he is able to escape from Miguel and reliefed that he was actually able to.
Tumblr media
While Gwen thinks that now the way is free for her and Peter to get to Miles and explain everything to him, Miles just gives them a look of hurt, sadness and betrayal. He then says “Goodbye Gwen”, again mirroring Gwen’s goodbye earlier in the movie. Both were sad but for very different reasons.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The change of expression from Gwen says it all.  This goodbye from Miles, in his eyes, is final. He feels betrayed and hurt and just wants to get home to save his dad. While Gwen and Peter probably want to just talk to Miles and explain everything, Miles may think they want to capture him, too. And Miles can’t take that chance.
Tumblr media
After Miles decides to jump Gwen, again, has an expression of relief on her face. This time the relief is because Miles managed to really escape Miguel and the other Spiders. She knows Miles will be safe, for now.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Miles manages to escape and Gwen is furious with Miguel. Furious as to how he treated Miles and how he managed the whole ordeal.
Tumblr media
She speaks up and Miguel blames Gwen for the Spider-Society losing Miles.  This is where Gwen starts to see that she actually doesn’t have the Spider-Societies back and that she should have taken Miles’ side from the beginning. She slowly realizes the true extent of her mistake.
Tumblr media
Gwen then proposes to talk it out with Miles, on her own. Miguel refuses, saying they tried that already.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She goes on to tell that Miles is her friend and is starting to question the whole “Canon event” topic. “Do you know for certain what happens when he breaks the Canon?” She is starting to fully side with Miles.
Tumblr media
Miguel tells her he knew from the beginning that her relationship with Miles was a liability. Gwen looks to Jess for support but doesn’t get it. She is now on her own, same as Miles.
Tumblr media
Gwen gets sent to her home universe, the thing she dreaded most. The last thing she tells Miguel is that they are supposed to be the good guys. That shows where she stands in regards to the conflict inside herself. She now knows that what Miguel and the Society does is wrong.  She was on the Society’s side, now she is on Miles’ side.
Tumblr media
She immediately tries to go to Miles’ dimension but she is locked out from using the dimension watch. Miguel denied her access. Gwen is furious and now trapped in her home dimension.
Tumblr media
She returns home and wants to collect the polaroid of her and Miles. She doesn’t want to confront her father yet, but we all knew it was inevitably coming.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gwen confronts her dad and opens up to him. She pours her heart out and tells him how she really feels.  Remember, Gwen is a 16 year old girl. She carried the burden of her rensponsibility and the conflict inside her while still always trying to do the right thing.  But she says it best in this scene, “She doesn’t know what right or wrong is anymore.” The entire time she believed these canon events to be absolute and followed through with the Spider-Society’s plans because she thought it was the right thing to do.  In the process she hurt and betrayed the only real friend she had. And that was the straw that broke the camels back. Her intentions are now clear.
Tumblr media
“I can’t lose one more friend.” She doesn’t know whats right or whats wrong, all she knows is that she can’t lose Miles.
Tumblr media
During her speech her father decides to quit his job as captain, freeing him from the canon event. This is when Gewn realizes that canon events might not be absolute and that they can be disrupted without dooming the dimension. She realizes Miles might have been doing the right thing all along.
Tumblr media
After making up with her dad the only thing left to do for Gwen is to go and find Miles. With the help of Hobie’s watch that is actually possible now.
Tumblr media
Gwen arrives in Miles’ universe and finds out that Miles is in the wrong universe. She overhears Rio and Jeff talk about Miles. They mention Miles lighting up when he is around Gwen and that they hope she doesn’t get him hurt. This is where the full realization of her actions become clear to Gwen. She hurt Miles and didn’t help him when he needed her the most, and she hates herself for that.
Tumblr media
She blames herself for what happened to Miles, even though it is not her fault entirely.
Tumblr media
Gwen tells Rio and Jeff that she is going to find Miles and bring him back. She also tells them what she learned from Miles. “All is possible.” This is the lesson Miles gives Gwen in this movie. It is a lesson she needed to learn. She now fully believes that anything is possible. This will come into play in Beyond the Spider-Verse when they are going to try and stop canon events from happening.
Tumblr media
She resolves the conflict with her father, parts ways with the Spider-Society and has only one goal left now: To find and make up with Miles. In her arc Gwen faced the conflict of choosing her friend or the greater good. On one hand is Miles, who she obviously has feelings for. On the other hand there is the Spider-Society who tell her how the multiverse works and how dangerous Miles and other anomolies are. In the end, her friend won, though it was a harsh process that damaged their trust and relationship.  Gwen is not perfect and isn’t always right. She is a 16 year old girl with tons of complex conflicts going on. She fights a constant battle with herself and her feelings. She makes mistakes, as do Miles, Peter, Miguel and the others. The important thing is that Gwen learns from these mistakes.  This also shows that she doesn’t hate or not care about Miles like some people have said. If anything her actions show to which lengths she went for Miles to be safe.  She knows she hurt Miles and is going to make up for it in Beyond the Spider-Verse.

Headcanon that Hobie Brown struggles with conveying his emotions/is emotionally unavailable
When we were introduced to Hobie, he seemed like a very outgoing, funny guy who's friends with the optimistic, friendly Spider-man India, and we assume that he's the same way, what with all the jokes he makes, the slightly high-pitched voice and the vibrant color-changing nature of his animation. However, when he takes his mask off, he immediately reverts to a deeper tone of voice, no longer cracking as many jokes, not really expressing any visible emotions. He keeps a straight face for most of the movie, only managing a smirk or a slight smile when talking to Miles. He doesn't talk much, and all his lines have a deeper meaning behind them or a specific goal in mind.
Tumblr media
"eh what of it?"
This scene specifically is what fuels this headcanon. We see all of the Spider-men reflecting over their canons, showing visible anguish at these past events, ex. Peter B. Parker looking away from Miles and kissing Mayday on the forehead, and Jess Drew adding on her little "and me" when Miles asks if the canon happened to them.
However, Hobie seems to be looking at the canon event with a completely straight face, showing very little emotion at the death of his police captain. Now its completely plausible that since he is most obviously ACAB, he killed his police captain himself and doesn't feel much guilt for his death, but if we look closely, he does look a little sad before he turns his attention back to Miles. He then proceeds to say, "what of it", brushing off the incident, and acting as if it wasn't a big deal. This, plus his fairly emotionless behavior from the rest of his scenes made me feel as though he might be emotionally unavailable, especially in the specific emotions of sadness, guilt, regret, etc...
We do see Hobie laughing, smiling, being cocky and sarcastic, but we never see him sad or regretful, compared to the rest of the Spider-men who are all shown experiencing some kind of negative emotion. (This includes even Ben Reilly, Spectacular Spider-man, Pavitr, etc...)
Being emotionally unavailable can also result from trauma, which we can be pretty sure Hobie has. Canonically, he was homeless before being bitten by a spider, and considering most Spider-people get bit from the ages of 13-16, we can assume that he spent most of his teenage life homeless. Being a homeless black teen in a fascist dictatorship in the 70s most definitely would have left some kind of impact on him, making the headcanon that he would be emotionally unavailable even more valid.
Either way, headcanons are headcanons and they don't need to be 100% accurate or even really have to make sense, but I like the idea of Hobie not really being the type to open up to people and I think it would be an interesting concept to explore in fanfictions, Hobie x readers or even Hobie x OCs!

O Sweet Juliet
Tom Holland! Peter Parker x fem! reader
Inspired by @heihei.edits on tik tok! Thank you again for your permission to make a story of my own. Thank you to @froggheadd for allowing me to use their art 💕 (i'll upload the banner asap!)
Word count: 946
~
“Pete?”
Your voice so soft it's barely above a whisper. Peter immediately perks up and drops his pencil. Like he's been waiting to hear your voice. His eyes search yours as he smiles.
“Yeah?”
“What’s this?”
Scooting your stool closer you ignore the loud squeak it makes across the lab's tile. Peter meanwhile slides his study guide away to the edge of the desk to make room for your textbook, English.
The pages contrast the formulas and theories Peter has been studying for over the past hour.
Normally the two of you would use a timer to keep from overloading your brains. But with finals coming up and an important mission soon after, you had to cram as much information as you could. Ned would also have joined but declined under the excuse his Lola needed him.
He really was your wingman when it came to Peter. You did however, owe him a cartilage of web fluid to mess around with for missing today's study session.
You trace your finger along stanzas before finally reaching line fifty-two. Reciting it before referring back to the essay prompt for your last paper.
“I understand Shakespeare was using pathos but how exactly does that connect to this?”
Peter leaned over you and despite the close proximity he felt so far away. His chin almost resting on your shoulder as he scanned the text. Romeo and Juliet, a “classic”. What? You can't help it if MJ degrades the play every chance she gets.
“Well…” He licked his lips before pulling away. Flipping through the pages as he continued. “The story is about love being blind, right?”
You nod as you look at him quizzically but still with enough patience that you don't interrupt.
“Young love specifically.” Peter finally stops on the prologue. Sticky notes littered in the margins much like the rest of your textbook. Definitions and context mostly.
“Shakespeare sets up this narrative from the beginning.”
The rest of his words fall on deaf ears as you admire him. Peter hasn't noticed that when concentrated, he taps his foot incessantly. Biting his nails as he articulates his next thought. His lashes fluttering remind you of how jealous you are over them.
“So…” you clear your throat as you look back to the textbook. What little words you did catch clicking together like cogs. “By setting up how completely infatuated they are-”
“-their deaths become the payoff,” he completes. Smiling even brighter as he notices that look of understanding flashing in your eyes. One he's seen all too often when you work on Stark tech.
He thinks you're just as bad as his mentor when it comes to your inability to take breaks. The restlessness you get from not being able to solve a miscalculation that leads to midnight coffee runs to the seven-eleven around the corner. Not that he's complaining. If anything, he hopes you'll get the craving for something sweet so he can whisk you away. Have you all to himself without the prying eyes of the other avengers.
Peter's quite aware Tony is hovering through the surveillance cameras. He wouldn't even be surprised if the rest of the team was watching them like their own personal home movie. Frankly he's tired of getting teased, especially by Thor.
“Ok…Ok so-” You shift closer and Peter feels his heart lurch in his chest. It's like you affect him so much his own body can't take being near you.
Would you mind if he peppered kisses along your cheeks when it gets too cold? Hold your hands as he stares at you like you're the most precious thing in his life.
He sometimes wonders if you feel the same way but with how easy you seem to make these interactions he thinks not. Maybe you know enough that these teasing touches are a way to torture him.
“-the scene where they first meet. That's the main foundation for how the reader sees them as a couple.”
Peter nods as he tries not to lean in and kiss you. His eyes dancing between your lips and the pencil you keep chewing on.
“Being star crossed lovers heightens the effect and makes us root for them,” you mumble,“and again is why their deaths are so effective at evoking pathos.”
“Right,” he chuckles.
You lean back but not to far. Stretching your arms over your head as you look down at the mess of notes and candy wrappers you made on Tony's desk. If anything it's to hide how hot your cheeks feel.
“Cool, thanks Pete.” You sneak a glance at him with a quick smile before quickly doting down the major points of your conversation. Ignoring how your heart races once he finally looks away.
“Of course,” he hums. Mind lost on the homework he was doing previously. All these numbers mean squat when you're sitting next to him. His grades would absolutely suffer if he had to share more than one period with you.
Peter must have reread ‘what is the missing angle?’ a dozen times between looking over at you while you admire his reflection through the lab doors.
Somewhere Thor is handing over a wad of cash while Natasha grins over her newfound prize. She gives it until prom season when Peter will have no choice but to ask you out on a date while Tony says it'll be less than a week because that's when the mission is. Adrenaline does something to you y'know? And Bruce…well Bruce just smiles against his coffee mug as he sees your hand reach out for Peter's under the desk. He hopes you like the anniversary gift he helped Peter pick out.

I know we all think Peter is Gen Z and because of that he has like every social network possible but I'm going to say no to this
Peter KNOWS how the internet works, how people hate you just for posting a picture of the ice cream you're eating one day and well, he already deals with enough stuff
All the Avengers have official verified Twitter accounts and Peter doesn't have one for either Spider-Man or Peter Parker, Tony once joked that for someone of his generation he spent very little time on the internet, and asked if he knew anything about the Instagram algorithm just as a joke, Peter answered the exact settings of the app, Tony is now a little afraid of his pupil's knowledge...
Unfortunately, against his will, Tony creates an account for Spider-Man and Peter Parker and follows both of them, and for the first time in his life Tony sees Peter yelling at him, REALLY yelling
Petet: YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT YOU DID TONY? MY LIFE IS OVER NOW BECAUSE OF YOU!
Tony: O-oh calm down kidoy, what's the worst that could happen?
Account for a scene of Peter running away from paparazzi asks what his relationship with Tony is and Tony seeing all this on live TV
Tony: Ohhhhhhhh shiiiiiiiit...
And when Tony goes to apologize, Peter just starts crying so much that I can't say anything else, all the avengers are in shock because even though Peter is just a teenager and everyone knows he is emotionally vulnerable, they never saw him cry, not even when he was wounded in battle, Tony is such an emotional IDIOT that he doesn't just ask something like "You're ... crying?"
Peter just runs away from there and goes to his room in the tower that he almost never uses.
Everyone else gives Tony a death stare and starts arguing with him
Bucky: "You're crying"? ARE YOU AN IMBECILE BY ANY CHANCE TONY!?
Sam: Oh man, I knew you were an asshole but I didn't know it was THAS bad
Thor: I didn't expect this from you Tin Man
Clint: You're no good at being a father, man...
Steve: Seriously Tony? "you're crying?" that's the last thing you say when someone starts crying in front of you
Rhodes: Wow Tony, just, wow...
Bruce, Stark I... I don't even know what to say
Tony: ... OK Ok are you guys done? I need to find him to solve this-
Natacha: You really think he wants to see you now?
Tony:... I need to try
Then Tony finds Peter on the roof sobbing
Tony: Pete...
Peter:... sorry...
Tony:!? uh???
Peter: I overreacted I... I'm sorry it's just that... I HATE attention so much and this whole thing about Spider-Man becoming a famous hero was proof that I don't like being recognized at all...
Tony:...
Peter: so when you followed me I just freaked out because... I knew they would jump on it like their lives depended on it, and now I'm famous as "Peter Parker" and everyone is asking "Spider-Man" when he's going to create other social media accounts and make posts and I- I'm not ready ready for this- URGH
Tony: How did I never realize this before?...
Peter: Uh?...
Tony: This hatred you have for attention, god it must have been torture when I took you on that business trip, or when I introduced you to the interns, god you hated me for the conference in Italy!?
Peter just stares at Tony, honestly Tony is surprised how Peter managed to stop crying on his own, but it's more painful to know that he probably does this because he is already used to it
In Tony hugs Peter, he doesn't say that everything will be okay because... wow, he doesn't even know if everything will be okay
Tony: I'm sorry, I'm REALLY sorry...

So I have a plot for a fic where Wade believes Peter Parker is experimenting on people (like on the comic) and this is like part of the scene when Wade attempts to kill him.
————
Wade doesn’t go right away after he shoots Parker. He stays there, right in front of him, seeing how his face morphs into a new expression. One full of affliction.
“W—“ Parker tries to say something. But his chest moves erratically, hindering any attempt to speak, and the bloods flows out of the injury, staining his lab coat.
He doesn’t have a lot of time left. That much is evident. He’s minutes away from dying, painfully, feeling each second the excruciating agony of the bullet near his heart — until it stops beating.
The fact that Wade isn’t taking the time to prolong this, to make Parker feel the same torment of the people who suffered at his hands, it’s a small courtesy to Spidey. Even if he never discovers that Parker was taking advantage of him, using him to cover his wicked purposes, Wade hopes that making it fast will make it better.
Because he isn’t supposed to be killing anyone. Less Spidey’s boss, the guy Spidey idolizes.
Wade had promised himself he wouldn’t kill again. Not after he changed. He was finally able to be someone different, someone worthy of being near Spidey. But after he found out Parker was behind the experiments, it was impossible to stand still and believe that Parker deserved a second chance. He’s probably throwing out the window all the progress of these few months.
But he has to do this.
Parker’s death will be fast — as fast as the bleed out takes — but he’s not leaving earth without suffering first. That’s why Wade aimed purposely to a spot near Parker’s heart and not directly at it.
He looks how Parker puts his hands around his chest, like he could somehow stop the bleeding just with that. What an idiot. For someone who is famous for being a scientist, he must be aware anything he does will be useless. There’s no going back.
And yet.
“W—“ Parker tries again.
He should be on the floor by now, but for some reason he keeps wanting to talk. It really is bothering Wade.
"Why? Are asking why? Gonna keep pretending til’ the end? You aren't fooling me, Parker. You know exactly what you did,” Wade snaps and Parker flinches at his words. Like they hurt more than the wound on his body.
"Wa—" Peter insists.
Wade grunts. “Is it wait now? C’mon, Parker. Not gonna spent my time trying to guess your last words. And if you’re really asking me to wait, think again. I bet they asked the same, and you—“
Wade groans, and then he aims the gun at Parker’s head, to his forehead. There’s no reason not to pull the trigger. Even if Wade spares him the pain ending things now, there’s no way for Parker to survive. He will accomplish what he came to do.
Wade analyzes the face behind the muzzle, and to his surprise, Parker doesn’t have the face of a murderer. There’s no guilt, not even a hint of anger for being discovered. Or that shame and sobbing that Wade has presence sometimes, when the people he had killed realized it was time to face the consequences of their actions.
If something, there's an indescribable pain in Parker’s eyes. He looks hurt, and it’s a different hurting, not the one he must be feeling from the bullet. It’s like he can’t understand why Wade did that to him. And not for the whole experimenting-on-people-matter. Nor the bullet matter. Its seems deeper, which doesn’t make sense.
Spidey talks a lot about Parker’s job, but Wade never got to meet him. Not until now. This is the first time they’re looking face to face. How should he take that expression? It’s feels personal, but there’s no way for it to be.
“Whatever,” Wade says as he holsters the gun. He isn’t wasting more bullets on this asshole. He turns his back, and walks away. He isn’t giving Parker the satisfaction of having someone to hear his last words — if he even manages to talk at some point.
All the time on his way out of the building, he tries to shake out of his head the look on those brown eyes.

Terrible Fic Idea #87: Percy Jackson, but make it MCU
Look, I didn't want to come up with yet another crazy PJO crossover, but here I am. Because instead of just coming up with the lightest, fluffiest, gayest PJO romance possible - which is what I wanted - I had to turn it into an MCU identity reveal fic too.
Or: What if post-ToA Percy Jackson was Peter Parker's caseworker following Aunt May's untimely death?
aka the I would stay forever fic
Just imagine it:
Tony Stark first meets Percy Jackson in the ICU of Metropolitan General the day after Peter and his aunt are caught in a terrible subway accident. May dies on scene. Even with his advanced healing, Peter is badly injured and taken to the nearest hospital - where it quickly becomes apparent he's Enhanced. It takes about 24 hours for the news to make its way to Tony, who immediately storms the hospital with the intention of taking Peter back to his Tower to heal-
-only to be told Peter's not going anywhere by the social worker assigned to the case.
This is remarkable for many reasons, not the least because the social worker is an unassuming, overworked 27-year-old wearing Finding Nemo socks and a faded Save the Oceans t-shirt. That the case worker - Percy Jackson - stands his ground in the face of Iron Man's wrath is even more remarkable, but Tony is forced to admit the kid has a point: he can't just let someone without any obvious connection to a minor walk off with said minor, particularly when that minor is Enhanced.
It takes Tony a couple days to get his ducks in a row, proving that he is not only able and willing to take in Peter, but is the one his aunt wanted to take care of him in the event something happened to her. During that time he has JARVIS research everything he can on Percy (lives in a Central Park penthouse owned by his long-time boyfriend, a successful music producer; volunteers for a NPO started by his best friend dedicated to restoring the wild; brief stint as the youngest ever on the FBI's most wanted, etc), but finds nothing to suggest he's anything other than a social worker trying to do what's best for his charges.
Percy becomes a semi-regular fixture at the Tower. At first it's just business, checking in on how Peter is doing and facilitating the foster care/adoption paperwork. Later it becomes something akin to friendship, with Percy being utterly unimpressed by Tony's fame but remarkably charmed by his inventions and philanthropic efforts. (He also comes to have strong feelings about the Rogues and their actions during the Civil War once he learns of them, helping Tony to see their betrayal for what it is. This alone makes him one of Rhodey and Pepper's favorite people.)
This goes on for quite some time - though I see this as happening post-CACW, we don't jump straight into the Infinity War, with there being several years wherein the Accords are ratified, the Rogues found and tried for their actions in the Civil War, and for the most part allowed to return to the Avengers on a probationary basis - until Thor finally arrives with news of Thanos' impending arrival.
Only Percy happens to be visiting when Thor arrives and the Avengers naturally have questions after Thor addresses him as Prince Perseus.
The truth of Percy's identity comes out in fits and starts (demigod son of Poseidon, saved the world a couple times, ascended to become God of Heroes, Natural Disasters, and Poison as well as Patron God of New York City; has been dating Apollo since he was fourteen; yes, is actually a social worker, albeit one who takes cases across the country to protect demigods and Enhanced), which is not helped by Thor (who can't help but comment on what he knows of Percy's heroics) or Apollo (who shows up after Percy texts an SOS but can't help but talk up his boyfriend either.)
The Infinity War still happens, albeit rather differently than in canon - perhaps Thanos turns out to be a disgruntled child or sibling of Gaia out for revenge, justifying Greek/Roman interference? But the details don't really matter as much as the identity reveal.
And... that's really all I have with regards to plot. But there should be a lot of character moments leading up to the reveal that hint at who Percy really is but which don't form a coherent narrative until the truth is revealed.
Bonuses include:
The softest, fluffiest romance possible for Apollo and Percy, with the pair more or less falling head over heels at first sight at the start of TTC, having their first kiss at the party at the end of the book, and dating throughout the rest of the Titan War. Apollo goes absolutely batshit insane when Percy goes missing at the start of HOO and breaks out of Olympus to crash the Senate meeting at the end of SoN and check on his boyfriend, and eventually gets made mortal for helping too much during the Giant War. The broad strokes of ToA occur with Percy fighting at his now-mortal boyfriend's side, and Percy ascends to godhood when Apollo regains his. There's some tension (Zeus is not happy about his firstborn son's choice of lover, fearing overthrow; Poseidon fears Apollo will end up breaking Percy's heart, but softens after Percy ascends and his chance of becoming a flower diminishes; many CHB campers think Percy's mad for dating a god, etc) but for the most part it should be as fluffy as circumstances allow.
Percy having been really obvious about his background, but in ways that seem reasonable ("How did you meet your boyfriend?" "I was at a really bad party when a friend ended up calling her brother to pick us up early. I fell in love with his car and then with him.") or like jokes ("Those sea turtles really seem to like you." "I like them too." "I guess they're kind of cute." "Excellent conversationalists too.") until the full truth comes out; and
Thor attempting to make up for blowing Percy's cover in dramatic (and hilarious) ways. This should include the gift of at least one native Asgardian water plant ("Dude, have you never heard of invasive species?") and end in a bakery's worth of Asgardian baked goods.
And that's all I have, though given the way this has been living rent-free in my head all week there may be more. As always feel free to adopt this bun, just link back if you do anything with it.

Ft. memes, savagery, and wholesome family relationships.
broken isn't the same thing as unfixable (ao3) - viiidispade T, 23k
Summary: “But Daddy –”
“Daddy would change your name himself before he let it define you. You will never be a disappointment to him, because you’re Morgan. You’re you. Got it?”
She just stares at him for a long time, tearful and unblinking. “Can we have juice pops?”
-
in which peter parker goes on a field trip, morgan stark tries her hand at classical conditioning - because her big brother should really be calling their dad "dad" - and we get the far from home end credit scene we all deserve.
(aka: a field trip fic that started cute, got sad, and gets cute and happy again♡)
Delicate (ao3) - Bean_reads_fanfic T, 16k
Summary: It starts here: Peter, in his Spider-Man suit minus the mask, caught deer-in-the-headlights-style in front of a person he’s never met before in the kitchen of his and May’s apartment.
“You’re, uh, what’s-his-name –” The guy coughs a bit, swallowing. He points at Peter, his voice getting higher as he goes: “P – uh – Peter, right? You’re – you’re Spider-man?!” ... One unfortunate encounter starts a chain of frustrating events; in the process of which, Peter's insecurities are examined. Including but not limited to: his worries that Tony cares about Spider-Man more than Peter Parker.
hanging on while the world crashes in (ao3) - snarkymuch T, 8k
Summary: Peter is struggling after coming back from the snap. He starts to fall into old habits, ones he thought he were over. He uses a rubber band on his wrist to cope, but eventually those close to him notice. Tony misses nothing.
If I'd Have Known... (ao3) - UniverseMarvel G, 11k
Summary: ...Then We Wouldn’t Be Here. An IronDad sickfic. Everything you hate loving and love hating.
Lies of omission (ao3) - Bergen T, 48k
Summary: “Your parents have been grooming you to take over the company, correct? You’ve been working closely alongside them, alongside their best scientists and technicians. I’m sure you’ve learned a fair deal. We could use that expertise at Stark Industries.”
“Essentially,” Parker says, “you want to pay me to reveal my parents’ company secrets.”
“Yes,” Tony says, cheerfully. “Thank you for catching on so quickly.”
Tony’s week just turned a lot more promising: Rich kid Peter Parker has apparently dropped out of college and provoked the ire of his parents. A delicious scandal for the tabloids. And an opportunity too good to waste, even if it means putting up with a snooty, preppy college kid as his new intern.
Mr. Stark's Home for Idiot Teenagers (ao3) - OffToNewPastures pepper/tony T, 98k
Summary: Peter is there, slumped over the kitchen island, slowly cramming spoonfuls of Double Chocolate Cookie Crisp into his mouth, hair tousled and sticking up every which way, and Tony realizes with sudden clarity that he’s fighting a losing battle. Maybe not today, maybe he can put it off for a while, but someday he’s just going to have to give up and love this ridiculous kid.
-
In which Tony Stark learns object lessons about love, sacrifice, death, friendship, and parenthood; and makes his peace with the unfortunate reality that his penthouse will be crawling with asshole teenagers every weekend for the foreseeable future. Follows canon…loosely. Ahem.
(My Baby, Here on Earth) Showed Me What My Heart Was Worth (ao3) - AnonVale, Not_me_undercover G, 15k
Summary: “If you were an ice cream flavor,” Peter abruptly began, “what flavor would you be?”
Tony glanced at him. “You know there's already an ice cream flavor named after me?”
The kid shrugged. “I know, but what flavor would you choose?”
Tony gave a short hum. “I'm not sure, kid, maybe vanilla? It goes with everything, after all.” At the sudden silence, Tony took another glance.
“Really?” Peter deadpanned, “Not to be that guy, but, you are anything but vanilla.”
“I thought you said I could choose?”
“Yeah, because I didn't think you were going to choose wrong.”
(Or: 5 Times Peter Mentioned His Scholarship Interview, +1 on the day it happened.(This is just pure indulgent irondad.))
they see me swinging (ao3) - Capiche G, 23k
Summary: In which Peter Parker is officially 100% better at making friends and figuring out this high school thing, but only about 12% better at being himself at any given time.
Threenager (ao3) - happyaspie G, 31k
Summary: While on patrol, Peter is struck by a spell that turns him into a toddler. Or mostly into a toddler. His memories, intellect, and experiences are still intact. Unfortunately, that makes being trapped in a toddler's body, with a toddler's motor skills that much harder. His legs are too short, and his fingers are too uncooperative. He can’t ride in the car without a super claustrophobic car seat. He can’t even wash his hands without help and it's all very frustrating. Between the teasing, Tony does his absolute best to help.
to fear and to fly (ao3) - idyllic_dae pepper/tony T, 148k
Summary: “You’ll come to learn that there’s only one thing worse than having nothing.”
Trying to hold onto his fight, Peter shoots back, “Yeah? And what’s that?”
“To have nothing, after being able to believe you could have everything.”
The streets are dirty, crowded, and the jagged bumps in the asphalt are hardly comfortable to sleep on. They’re home, though.
Peter is just about finished with New York City. It’s gotten impossibly harder to find even a scrap of food, and what little belongings he does have are unlikely to keep him alive through the winter. And the memories. God, the painful memories here.
So he saves up. Makes a plan to get out of there.
Then, somehow, he accidentally saves Tony fucking Stark from a gang of eight mercenaries, and the majestic plan disintegrates into ash.
The worst part about it, he knows, isn’t even that he met Tony. It’s that Tony met him.
We're Gonna Have to do this Together (ao3) - edibna T, 156k
Summary: Being a superhero sometimes means you forget about the small dangers in the world, like disease. For Peter, this means he loses May to natural causes, not something he could ever save her from.
Unknown to him, May left custody of Peter in the hands of Tony Stark, who, even though he wants kids, has no idea how to actually raise one. With a grieving superhero teenager on his hands, Tony is going to have to figure it out quick, if he wants Peter to ever be able to move on and be happy.
