.................... *googles cringetober*
Oh! It's an art challenge where you're supposed to draw things considered cringe by popular culture. Gotcha, gotcha. Yeah I agree it's a bit weird that heterochromia is considered cringe at all, though I suspect it became cringe "by association".
Back in my old dA days I saw a lot of OC:s that were almost always made by kids who hadn't learned proportions and stuff and dropped everything cool they could imagine onto their OC:s – and quite often one of the features was heterochromia. And everybody knows kids must not be allowed to enjoy things without it being declared cringe or they will, I dunno, develop confidence or something? Sounds like a cringe enough excuse to use for bashing on kids having creative fun. Or people are just hating on anything that's not canon because they're boring and hate that people can be creative just for fun, that's also an option
heterochromia being considered cringe is so funny. how do people irl with it feel
#personally i think it would've been better to use unnatural/unusual eyes#it would be open enough to include heterochromia and stuff like people eyes#*purple eyes#and it wouldn't single out people who has it irl like it kinda does now#but at the same time including it does kinds highlight how dumb it is that it's cringe just because people use it#and the vibe i got from the one post i read it's that it's a bit of a push-back against cringe culture#one could say it's cringe to call heterochromia cringe#...i'm pretty sure a childhood friend of mine had a form of heterochromia#her eyes were half-blue half-green#very pretty imo#but she absolutely loathed them#and her selfesteem was pretty much non-existent#i wonder if she had seen those oc:s be trash talked or if she hated her eyes for some other reason
