Sid ignored the question, although he was making his life harder by doing so. But it was also annoyingly (not really but Sid was failing himself as a person admitting he wasn't hating this) entertaining that the guy (honestly somebody had to break and get to the point of names soon because even in his head that was getting old fast) was just as snappish as himself.
Or nearly so; longer fuse maybe.
In any case it was enough, aside from needing to get a better feel for the situation, to keep him engaged, curious.
"Being threatened by asking if you're bored must make you a great time at parties." Sid remarked, he didn't even have to reach far for that one.
Scud, meanwhile, had lumbered his way over to the chair to have a nose around it before he shoved his wide snout at the arm rest, staring at the stranger. This was the least subtle way of being for attention, but he'd never really excelled at subtle by most accounts. Wasn't really part of the general canine brain map in there; want equaled reaction. Want attention, cause reaction.
"Sitting in your yard staring at the road like it personally offended you isn't an invitation for visitors? Risky; might attract the overlord of the HOA; if an iron fence didn't stop her I don't think your mood would either." Sid added, lifting a hand to call Scud back, which the dog ignored because that wasn't actually the signal to call him. "Awww, he likes you," Sid glanced back towards the window and the bouncing spaniel, "seriously, is your dog okay or is she going to pass out trying to fight that window? What's her name?"
Listen, he liked dogs, he was allowed to be sympathetic towards them; they generally hadn't done anything to him personally.
