I LOVE Peem's parents and just how Awesome they are like wow. You might be my favourite parents in a thai bl series ever. (No offence to MSP Gun's mom who remains a close second). But like the way they are so cool and chill and the way they treat not only the 4 Besties but also the other 6 who have come along just as their sons is so awesome.

Which is why the scene where everything slows down for Phum and focusses on Peem's parents shows how this whole interaction is healing him. Healing the way he sees parents, his perception of the Parent-Child dynamic, he realises that not all parents are like his shitty ones. And these So Cool ones, they could and will treat him like he is their own son, if not just son-in law. They will give him the love he requires because they have so much of it. They will heal all the cracks in his soul, and its all because of Peem. His boyfriend, his boo, his Peem.

I know we all talk about Phum and his experiences with his childhoods neglect, but gods does Fang make me eat the drywall because there are so many implications about how it affected him too.

We don't know much about Phum and Fang's elder brother beyond a name and their mother asking Fang about how he has been doing, but I think that says a lot about the family and their connection. An elder brother who, going off the picture, doesn't seem much older than Fang and Phum who probably got out of dodge as soon as he could but in doing so left Fang and Phum alone in that house.

Fang who navigated international lines to talk to his scared crying younger brother and (probably) sent Phum plushies as a substitute for his company, but was only about a year or two older so he didn't realize it could never make up for the real thing.

Fang who knows how to make spaghetti and not much else because sometimes his parents forgot to leave money for groceries/takeout and he has to feed his younger brother because he is the only other parental figure despite being a year or two older and shouldn't have been unsupervised in the kitchen.

Fang who in high school punched his future-boyfriend in the face, because of course he did when he has been nothing but the peacekeeper in his household and a guy has been rude to him and he needs to let go of some of that bitterness and resentment and man doesn't Tan look punchable?

Fang who watched Phum get into fights too and emulate his behavior but he can never be mad at Phum because it isn't his fault no one bothered to check on the rich family's kids. Then Phum would emulate him further when he fell for the kid who kicked him in the nuts, but Fang can't even complain because Peem is the best thing to happen to his little brother.

Fang who went into architecture and keeps his grades up probably because his parents wanted him to go into business and having high grades is the only way to prove that he is doing what is best.

Fang who freaked out when his attentive boyfriend didn't respond to his calls and messages because his worst fears are confirmed and Tan is going to leave him just like his parents just like his elder brother- but Tan never left and continues to be his safe place.

Fang who was set up as the peacekeeper in his family, a bridge between Phum and their parents. Fang still living with their parents and constantly trying to get Phum to play nice because of course Fang is doing that because he wasn't the one abandoned in another country but also he got the bare amounts of attention that kept him strung along for more and to doesn't matter that his parents only seem to ask about his elder brother or his grades or talk about their own work because every once and while they pay attention to him.

Fang who will come to the realization the only love he values is Phum's, Tan's, and his news friends (which his parents didn't even realize he had) and how he will move out into a new place with Tan and cut off contact and it will be hard but it will be worth it because when he is married and adopted two kids and his kids ask about their grandparents on his side he'll give them a small smile and say they passed away decades ago even though he doesn't know if that is true but doesn't care to find out.

Cole, I haven't been able to stop thinking about this but how do you think it goes down when Peem introduces Phum as his boyfriend to his parents?

Cause I keep imagining Peem realizing he doesn't know the extent of Phum's issues with his family/his dad and comes to the realization of how hard it was for Phum to go there (with the possibility of his dad being there).

So, Peem decides to introduce Phum (so Phum knows he always has another home he can turn to). But of course Phum is nervous because he knows how close Peem is to his parents and how much his parents love him. So, Phum decides to bring some fancy, expensive alcohol.

But when they get there and Peem tells his parents, Phum doesn't even have time to give them the alcohol because of how ecstatic Peem's parents are.

His mom is so happy and is hugging Phum because all of her sons have found significant others (she's still waiting on Chain and Pun to get together). She's fawning over Phum and asking him questions about himself and their relationship.

Peem's dad is more laidback and teases Peem about how long it took him to bring a significant other home. Then he welcomes Phum and asks him about himself, he's interested in his studies but he's even more interested in Phum's photography. He goes to get his own camera and tells Phum about the best places in Chiang Mai to take photos.

Phum is of course slightly overwhelmed because this is most positive attention (and just attention in general) he's ever gotten from parents. Peem is also ecstatic, but seeing how flustered Phum is he steers the conversation to the gifts Phum brought.

Needless to say, Peem's parents get even more excited when they see Phum's gifts.

Just Phum getting showered (and slightly overwhelmed) by positive attention from Peem's parents and getting adopted by them like he was adopted by Aunt Pui.

Peach this is Everything. I’ve read this so many times because it’s so full with emotions and yes, this is what should happen. Phum and Peem’s parents creating a bond so strong that it would shatter any stability to his insecurities towards parental figures.

!!!! Also Peach imagine. Just imagine Peem’s mom starting to call Phum like she calls Q. Just from time to time, just to ask about his day, or how Peem is doing, or how Fang and Toey are doing (because she knows those are his beloved brothers), just to see what juicy gossip he has to offer.

The first time she calls him, Phum is trembling whole with an emotions he hasn’t felt in so long. He can barely talk through the knot in his throat. And then, the next times she calls he gets emotional from other reasons entirely. He gets emotional because she remembers everything he tells her. Every little detail of any conversation they have. And she recalls them and asks about advancements in certain situations and it’s such a whiplash from his conversations with his own mother, where she’e tuned to him with one ear only most of the time.

Imagine that he gets so comfortable and so happy with their calls that he starts calling her back. Peem finds his boyfriend and his mother giggling at each other as they face time one day, going on about idk knitting or something.

His relationship with Peem’s father takes a bit longer to get to a deeper level of comfort, because of obvious reasons (he has a harder time letting his walls down), but it gets to a point where Peem’s dad sends Phum all kinds of locations around Thailand, and lightly teases him “take cat to these places, son ;)” and fiejdiej AAAAAAAH I WILL COMBUST ITS JUST SO

So soft, Peach 🥺 Thank you for sending me this ask. I need face time calls with Phum and Mama Peem and Peem being so overly soft at seeing them doing it.

We Are Ep. 14: Part 3/3

Warning: long post 😊😅 (also, I'm so sorry for the delay, I've been sleep deprived for the last two to three days because my insomnia and depression made comebacks, but I'm better now)

She reminds me so much of my own mom-

My mom adopts my friends, and no one has any say in it, while my dad encourages her 😭👍🏼

I absolutely love her relationship with all of them. While it's given that Peem will talk about Phum, Q has talked about Toey too, and it's quite obvious that Peem and his og group of friends have visited quite often before. She asks no question, and is so comfortable with them that they don't hesitate for a second to introduce their boyfriends. This is maybe not realistic (I'm pretty sure my mom while very similar wouldn't be this accepting) but it's very in line with this show, and I really like it.

GIVE ME MORE ACCEPTING PARENTS IN BL!!!

I am 100% sure that for a moment there, Phum's brain short circuited 😭

I mean, just look at it from his perspective. The boy he's head over heels for talks about him like this to his mom. If it were me, I'd be having an existential crisis right there, he has much more self control than me.

I'll be living here, in this moment for the next 1000 years, thanks for asking.

Listen, I'm a big fan of domestic fluff, BUT THIS???

Also, I don't usually talk about these, but on Phum's t-shirt, it says "ALWAYS FORWARD NO TURNING BACK" which is very relevant here because Peem helps him see a future, and to enjoy the present as it comes back. He's slowly but surely leaving his scarred past behind.

And yet, I don't really see you, complaining, Peem.

These few seconds spoke so much.

The realization that this is what a real family is supposed to look like, that he'll probably never have this with his own parents.

But then- then he realizes that now he can have this. He can have Peem, and a family full of love and sit in the midst of his brother and his friends and Peem's friends and be accepted and loved.

Maybe he can't have this with his own parents, but he can have this with Peem, and that for him, is already far more than he could have ever imagined.

I just love that addition 😭😂

Peem is absolutely incapable of not calling Phum some version of "idiot (affectionate)" and I adore him for it. <33

Also, when Peem got up to ask what they were doing and Phum pulled him back to sleep, did y'all see that tiny forehead kiss? My man never misses a chance to kiss Peem, and I am so proud of him.

This reminds me of such a funny story-

So. We went to visit this historical building (note: historical) and the stairs leading up were naturally kind of steep and broken. It was very crowded, so it was four or five teams/families to one guide. We went up slowly, but since the guide was obviously very used to it, he went up faster, and was waiting for us at the landing. So one couple asked how he got there so fast, and he jokingly said "I took the lift" and the man was like "Why didn't you tell us before?? One of us [I don't remember who he said] just had knee surgery!" and the rest of us were just staring at him like ???? are you listening to yourself- 😶

My parents and I laugh about it to this day 😭😂 (this was almost 8 years back OH GODS SAYING THAT MADE ME FEEL SO OLD-)
