“Pascaleret Valtin.”

What do your friends call you?

“Pascal, mostly. I, um. He’s not exactly a friend, but there’s a guy who calls me Little ‘Bo.”

What is your favorite animal?

“If I absolutely had to pick one, I’d say my specific favorite animal is Gregoire, my little paissa. Before that trip to the Sea of Clouds that involved me bringing him home, I’d say... rats.”

Where were you born?

“The Twelveswood. I think.”

Do you have children?

“Thank the Matron, no.”

Is there a person/people you love?

“Arvid. My mum. ...and my dad. The adoptive one.”

What is your favorite color?

“Green, what else? Nophica’s shade in particular.”

What is your full occupation?

“I’m an alchemist and herbalist.”

“Ha.”

“Ha ha.”

“I was told I had a talent for aether as a kid.”

“Well, I studied conjury into my early teens, if I’ve got to choose a proper school of magic. Outside of that, I’m good with infusions. Mixing aether into my potions and things.”

“I’ve got three sisters, but we’re not related. So, maybe. Maybe not.”

“Dead and gone to whatever heaven Arvid ended up in, if I’m lucky.”

“Yeah, once. My shop burned down while I was asleep. Gregoire got out and got help, if you can believe it. He doesn’t look so smart with that vacant stare, but he’s pretty clever.”

“Yeah.”

“Both.”

“Not right now.”

“Of course. Nophica Herself gave me a second chance at life.”
