hi! would you still happen to have that horror movie analysis citation list? i plan on reading a glossary of haunting soon and would love some additional readings if possible
hey i do! so not exactly horror movie analysis - my paper was specifically on aliens and the American frontier and how the American colonial project informs how we conceptualize extraterrestrial lifeforms and our alleged interactions with them, as well as our film history surrounding it. weird i know, it wasn't a well-formatted paper because i changed tack halfway through so i just picked through my bibliography and chose what was most relevant. my favorites are in bold and i would love more similar writings if anyone has them - it was truly fascinating research!

𒀭 ! So, basically, this blog is just all about myself or rather me stating the most unnecessary things ever. This is a day in my life as a living handsome creature. Today is the last day of our vacation, simula bukas, back to school na naman. I will finally enter and face my last year in Senior High School. I’m in Grade 12 taking Humanities and Social Sciences as my strand. Kemerut! Marami pang ibang activities and events na sobrang laki ng naitulong sa akin na ma-figure out ang mga kaya at gusto kong gawin. It helped me to enhanced my skills in editing, painting, dancing, public speaking including leadership skills and more. Oh ‘di ba? Daig pa K-pop idol sa pagiging all-rounder at ace of the group member.

𒀭 ! ──── 𖤐 ⤸ Anyways, this blog is not just all about kwentuhan at pagre-reminisce sa nakaraan, sabi nga ni Kathryn Bernardo, “no looking back, only moving forward”, dahil kailangan ko na talagang kumilos at magpunta sa Baclaran para mamili ng mga kagamitan sa eskuwelahan.

See you soon! This is your Humanista Heidi! ♡

All this time pala, hiwalay na pala sila, mga ilang taon na!
Kim and Jericho, they were married on May 1, 2019 .
But unlike most if not all showbiz marriages, hindi naging bitter ang paghihiwalay nina Echo at Kim.
“Mutual decision at amicable agreement” daw nangyaring separation sa kanila.
It was gathered na kapwa binigyan nina Echo at Kim ang isa’t isa ng kalayaan para mag-grow sa kung saanmang direksyon ang nais nila.
Despite their breakup, nananatili pa ring magkaibigan ang former showbiz couple.
“I am under no obligation to explain anything,” prangkang standard answer ng aktor.
Kapwa masaya naman ang dalawa as they look back sa kanilang nakaraan.
It was a date which at first ay inayawan ni Echo until he saw Kim’s photo.
Kim was born to a Filipino mother and a British father.
Tuloy pa rin ang creative collab nila with Echo as the producer and Kim as the writer, director and star of a film!

Film Review - Earth to Echo
Been a while since I’ve posted on this blog! Took a stab at writing my first film review today.
Tumblr media
Released - July 2014
Director - Dave Green
Producers - Ryan Kavanaugh / Andrew Panay
Genre - Sci-Fi
Dave Green’s found footage filled directorial debut draws influence from the great 1980s blockbusters and maintains a similarity to Spielberg’s 2011 sci-fi-horror flick, Super 8. Set in Nevada the story revolves around three friends who, in the midst of trying to save their neighbourhood from being demolished due to highway construction, discover an alien in the desert.
The found footage perspective used for the majority of the film creates an engaging atmosphere that, for the most part, makes up for a storyline that could easily been looked at as a rehashed ET. Teo Halm, Reese Hartwig and Brian ‘Astro’ Bradley all deliver strong performances as Alex, Munch and Tucker respectively. While, Ella Wahlestedt introduces a new dynamic to the group as the seemingly fearless Emma.
The films truly enticing factor comes in the kids journey and determined enthusiasm to reach their goals, however, the eventual climax lacks in impact. Echo’s ship coming together and driving the alien home just doesn’t quite match up to ET and Elliot’s famous goodbye or The Goonies’ first discovering One-Eyed Willys ship.
Overall, the story does have a tendency to feel drawn out in places and ultimately the ending, while satisfying, is nothing too memorable. Despite it’s pitfalls, Earth to Echo still has enough charm to keep viewers interested and will undoubtedly be a very enjoyable watch for it’s young target audience.

PLEASE rant about that dragon design. as someone who does dragon creature design stuff it would be appreciated from both a design standpoint AND a culturally sensitive one
OMFG OK SO
first of all to preface, were already hitting massive issues with the fact that disney is mishmashing from several different, highly varied cultures.
The film is set in a fictional fantasy land called Kumandra, inspired by Southeast Asian cultures from Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines. To conduct research, the filmmakers and the production team traveled to all of the abovementioned countries, except Myanmar and Malaysia.
thailand cambodia and vietnam have more in common with each other than they do with indonesia, malaysia, and the philippines, and vice versa. the former r all attached to mainland asia while the latter r mostly maritime island nations. the mainland nations generally have much in common with north asia too.
NOW FOR THE FUCKING DESIGN ITSELF... first of all lemme show tihs fucking tweet
Tumblr media
its literaly just elsa. its fucking elsa dragon. obviously we were never gonna get anything thats actually accurate 2 the general creature design conventions/art style of se asia coz its “scary” n not marketable 2 families in the us LMFAO
they were actually kinda on the mark with this little in universe illustration, it actually resembles se asian creatures with those exaggerated tusks and the wide eyes. its still kinda shit coz they gotta make it recognizable with the marketed 3d character design but this one doesnt piss me off as bad
Tumblr media
the horns were clearly inspired by either thai depictions of the naga, visayan depictions of the bakunawa, or both, but it DOESNT FUCKING COMMIT TO EITHER COZ DISNEY IS TRYING TO GET THE WIDEST POSSIBLE AUDIENCE APPEAL
Tumblr media
(depiction of bakunawa on the hilt of a tenegre from panay)
Tumblr media
(depiction of the naga on a temple roof from northern thailand)
it just doesnt fit with the fucking designs of se asia at ALL. look up the barong, the se asian depictions of the garuda, the bakunawa, the kinnara, the chinthe, the babi ngepet. they all look fucking nothing like sisu does.
and finally.. the issue of having a dragon as the central Thing: in southeast asia dragons rnt.. rlly that common AJSDHKJDHSJDHS off my head i can think of the naga from thailand and the bakunawa from here (the philippines). vietnam has a dragon that bears more similarity with the chinese dragon than the other asean nations. dragons arent rlly a fucking universal se asian thing?? in fact we share more monsters than we do dragons! they were clearly aiming 2 make something thatd be General enough to appeal 2 All of southeast asia for maximum profit, but if they rlly wanted 2 aim for all of us they shouldve gone with monsters/spirits coz we have so many shared ones LMFAO (see: manananggal and penanggalan who r definitely related, the tiyanak and pontianak who r probably related) this is a really good thread on the similarities of monsters and spirits in se asia. this place is haunted as SHIT
anyway im mad as shit and this is long enough LKASDLHSDJDHS thanks 4 givig me the opportunity 2 rant <3

Honestly i’m jealous nowadays sa jowa ko, but in a good way.
My dreams and hopes for my dream university is long gone and gusto ko na lang makagraduate talaga para makapag masterals na ko. Hindi ako pumasa sa UP at na wait listed sa UST which is my dream school, noong first year ako after my second sem nagkaroon ng problema sa prof at marami samin ang gustong lumipat kaso walang grade so di kami nakalipat.
I would have transferred to UST, but lets face the fact, middle class lang kami at single parent ang mom ko; basura dad ko and it’s his fault bakit siya nagkastroke at wala man lang financial assistance ang mga kapatid niya sakin. So wala na kong choice at ayoko naman mastuck na lang sa probinsya kasi alam kong di ako maggogrow dito, walang pakialam sa lipunan ang karamihan dito and thats the truth.
Bumawi na lang ako sa orgs at dito ko nakita purpose ko bilang peryodista at dahil rin sa The Communicator (Dakom) marami akong naging connection at nagawa pang maging mover ng rappler, so i decided na i’ll just build my credentials and skills dito sa PUP at sa mga org; baka sakali na mas maging preferred ako ng employers. Sabi ko mag mamasterals na lang ako either sa UP or PUP, wala na sakin ang mga pangalan ng paaralan o ano, because the important thing that i want to do is to payback my mom for all the hardwork she’s done for me.
Naiingit lang ako sa jowa ko kasi bata pa siya and she’s got a long way to go at mas magiling siya sakin. Naiingit ako na she’s taking action while i feel like i’m stuck in a puddle. It’s kinda bad to say pero i feel in the future magcaclash mga goals namin. Ako kasi i want to raise a family when everything is well and kahit di man na ko masyadong religious, i want to have a methodist family. Pero honestly malapit na din ako mag agree sa jowa ko not to have kids, lalo na kung ganito ka fucked up ang mundo at pilipinas. She’s way better on setting her goals and plans, while i’m just trying to survive the fucking world and maybe fucking publish a book someday. She’s agnostic and wala kong problema dun, i just have this faith restored in me mula 2015; sobrang dark at fucked up ng taon na yan sakin, i wouldn’t have survived without God’s help.
Ewan ko ba kung saan patungo itong sinusulat ko, maybe its just for me learning to accept that we all have our own phase and time. Kasi at some point all i’ll have to take care of is myself, so the least i can do is build a career and future for myself. Call me stupid also pero sabi ko noon i’m dating for company; but maybe this time i’m dating to marry and i don’t fucking know what to do with how i feel. Someday i’ll get to the bottom of this.

youtube
Kristofer Komeda - « The fearless Vampire killers » Définitivement mon film de chevet.
youtube
Paul williams - « Phantom of the Paradise » Bon, celle-là elle est assez évidente il me semble.

Leading children’s charity Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice has launched its most ambitious fundraising campaign to date, created, directed and produced by integrated content agency The 10 Group. The 36 hour campaign pledges to raise over 2 million pounds to triple the number of children coming through the hospice’s doors and continue the essential work of its specialist nurses.
The film follows Hayley, who heads up nursing care at the hospice, as she reflects upon the past eighteen months and the particular challenges that the pandemic has created for the families of seriously unwell babies and children. Driving over 100 miles a day, Hayley recalls, she has led the care team supporting over 370 seriously unwell babies and children, and helped 30 families say a final goodbye to their children.
As she speaks of the critical role that public support has played in keeping the hospice’s doors open, the film cuts between sequences of children making special and lasting memories at the Ark – from playing with toy cars and musical instruments to spending a sunny day outside with the hospice’s carers.
The integrated campaign, which will run across owned and earned media comes at the end of a pivotal year for Noah’s Ark, after the hospice has developed partnerships with a number of leading London hospitals including Great Ormond Street.
Anthony Hayman, the Director of Fundraising and Communications at Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice says: “The team at The 10 Group have a remarkable ability to devise and develop content that truly cuts through the noise, as well as the expertise and energy to distribute it at scale. We have been quite blown away by what The 10 Group has made possible for Noah’s Ark, and are excited by the opportunities that ‘No Child Left Behind’ could help create for London’s most unwell babies and children.”
Elaine Stern, CEO, The 10 Group adds: “It is a real honour to be joining Noah’s Ark on such a powerful mission, and to have played a part in the 2.1 million pounds that has been raised to support the hospice’s nurses and carers during the pandemic. We have been incredibly moved by the response our campaigns have received so far, reinforcing the power storytelling can play in driving tangible, positive action, and we’re delighted to continue supporting the charity in its mission to support more families than ever before”
