They turned him into a shaboingboing
Edit: I keep seeing this photo being reposted in places outside of Tumblr, and it surprises me every time. By the way, a "shaboingboing" is a hotdog. (Also, please stop cropping my name out of the photo! ;w; My posts are kewl!)

Tribute to Anomalocaris
Not a Perspectives post, still working on the next one of those. Anomalocaris also isn't exactly the great grandpappy of all arthropods, but...close enough lol

Happy Trilobite Tuesday! Some of the fossil record’s most fascinating Lower Cambrian trilobites have been found in Nevada’s Montezuma Mountain Range. Specimens like this half-billion-year-old, 2.4-in- (6-cm-) long Nevadella illustrate how advanced the trilobite form was even very early in their swim through the Paleozoic seas

An Anomalocaris canadensis hunts down a trio of Isoxys acutangulus 510 million years ago out in the open ocean of what is now the Burgess Shale of Alberta, Canada. The 37-cm-long radiodont was once thought to have glided over the seafloor and used its raptorial appendages to crack open the shells of small trilobites, but since 2023 it is now thought to have been an early example of a pelagic pursuit predator.

i kinda just kept adding more and more clips into this un-planned animation project, so maybe in the future this will be a longer animation. Or maybe not.. if my day job gets too busy and whatnot

More Perspectives artwork!
"Jawless Jaunt" Sacabambaspis Ordovician, 460 million years ago, Anzaldo Formation (Bolivia) Trying a new form of art - pixel art this time! Not perfect, given it's very much a first stab - just as these fishies are a sorta first stab at bony vertebrate life. Jawless, these memeable friends lived by sucking up worms and shit. "Primitive" as they may be anatomically, such fish weren't necessarily dumb! Lots of animals we overlook can be surprisingly intelligent. This male is digging a display in the sand to attract a female, much like modern pufferfish, even lining it with bivalves. It seems to be working. This is an entry in my Perspectives series! Check out #perspectives on my blog for more.

Welcome back to Trilobite Tuesday! Every trilobite fossil tells a story, including this large 6.7-in- (17-cm-) long Ectinaspis. Notice the coral branch on the upper-left corner? Such specimens provide insight into the marine environments in which trilobites, like this one, inhabited during the Paleozoic Era.
