Had to laugh when the 8-year-old brought Fortunately the Milk home from the school library AGAIN this week.

She's had it so often that I'd not actually bought her it yet, as she was always in possession of it (and money is tight). But she was reading to me out of it tonight and was doing such a brilliant and dramatic job, giving each character a different voice and really using great intonation, that I realised it's unfair for me not to get her her favourite book.

Especially as she frequently still dresses in the complete World Book Day outfit - the father in Fortunately...

She's still writing Unfortunately the Cheese. It's slow going, as she's using it as an exercise in learning how to type. But she's enjoying it, which is the only important thing.

I'm loving her journey with reading and writing. It feels so wonderful to be able to share my two great loves with her.
