oooOOoohh this is so hard not to take in a literal direction.... i think it'd be a Dave/Hal post-mgs1 maybe canon-alternate mgs2-era fic where they're learning to kind of step in time with each other and potentially figure out living together. like mostly dramady/character study/mega-slowburn where Dave's expecting to be the hard-to-live-with-one and then Hal reveals himself to be equally poorly adjusted, just in a different direction
