something I didn't expect to get out of the hbomberguy video is the realization that I really miss writing essays but doing a stem-wannabe degree thoroughly destroyed my ability to enjoy research and offer my own opinions. not sure how to feel about that

if you think about it and consider how common it actually is for people to experience auditory hallucination, especially when tired/sick/sleep deprived/etc, it makes a lot of sense why vastly different cultures would have rules about how if you hear someone calling your name (especially with the voice of someone you know) you shouldn't run off looking for who's calling you or start yelling in response and just go home instead
