ok so since both my mutuals named sam wanted to know abt my star trek oc ideas, here y'all go @miketownsend @fruitbattery

none of them are named yet, apologies in advance, but I basically have two groups: one more geared towards comedy and the other more towards tragedy, connected by sibling relationship. set in TNG era simply bc I like those uniforms best. they all work on the same starship, one of those huge bitches with 1000+ crew complement at any given time.

group #1 - the entertainers:

this is a group of non-officers who work as lounge entertainers in the ships 10 forward. theyre trained in a lot of different performing arts and sometimes do long form ensemble shows, but mostly do like variety show style stuff on a nightly basis. the group consists of

Betazoid man, singer, known for very emotionally moving performances due to his telepathy

human sibling duo, dancers and singers, specialize in tap a la the Nicholas brothers. side note: got very distracted thinking about future tap and all the weird noises they could engineer tap shoes to make.

another person I haven't decided on a species yet but they're like the hoshi sato of instruments they play so many, and often are accompaniment to the other acts, but compose a lot of their own stuff too!

Vulcan woman, she mostly does instrumentals and accompaniment but she also does Vulcan style dance (which I have So much other lore in my head on what that looks like, fuck "vulcans do not dance"). she keeps trying to get Vulcan meditation chants to catch on and doesn't get why people wouldn't want to listen to music designed to purge stress and upset from the body in a location designed to escape the stress of work.

their manager is a middle aged orion woman who is only ever seen in track suits.

and then we have the tragedy duo!! which consists of the Vulcan dancers older sister and the only trill officer (she's joined also) on board who absolutely positively are Not dating and NOT in love so stop being nosy :/

basically their deal is they met in starfleet academy and were like Yes we are into each other but we're just gonna stay friends because one of us will outlive the other and it's illegal to pursue relationships across symbiont hosts, so we're gonna avoid the heartbreak of you dying and me living and knowing you're out there too but can't be with you.

and then ofc they fell so hard in love anyways and now their plan is basically: ok. not a lot of trill in starfleet, no other trill on this ship, so no one can really snitch to the symbiosis commission. as long as we publically gal pal it up for the whole of this first hosts life and don't get married or have kids or anything with official documents, we can then meet up in your next host body and have a real life together and have a family and grow old together like we're supposed to.
