this is again just me being paranoid about capitalism and social media but idk there's something so insidious to me about the way that fun seemingly harmless meme-ing is actually the #1 way to advertise now. this is about all the barbie memes tbh

#like. idk man. maybe i just can't have fun with anything anymore #but it does kinda suck that the work of advertising is now ours too #or like a good chunk of it. we're not just 'consuming' marketed ads or whatever #we are literally producing them because it's 'fun'#or else it takes the shape of like. gossip and scandals ppl are sharing thru social media #like with don't worry darling #it just ... sucks #i just want to be free from things being marketed to me
