christ now I’m seriously thinking about the fey court alien stage au. where the aliens are fairies and the contestants are human children who were swapped out with changelings, whisked back to the court to be raised for fey entertainment. the fey are fond of music, for them it inherently carries its own sort of magic. humans raised in this realm must learn to perform to survive — not because they’re necessarily in competition with one another, but because you must adapt to the court, physically and mentally, to live in it. where am I going with this? stay tuned and we can figure it out together

Disney Villains in DnD
With the Disney Princesses and Princes, I put them into parties, but for the villains, I’m going to start by listing the ones powerful enough to be a Warlock Patron in descending order of power (by their base form). The rest are ordered by the release date of their film. I’m not going to cover all of the Disney villains in this one post, as there’s just too many, and not all of them map easily onto DnD.
Tumblr media
CHERNABOG THE DARK MASTER
AS BIG BAD: Archfield Patron Warlock (Asmodeus)
As Playable Character:
Race: Asmodeus Tiefling Background: Courtier Class: Divine Soul Sorcerer (Evil) Skills: Insight, Deception, Intimidation, Persuasion
The Devil on Bald Mountain, Chernabog stands as Satan and Lucifer incarnate, the Disney-Canon equivalent to the Prince of Darkness, and the ruler of Hell. Like with Maleficent and Hades, Chernabog lacks a stat block, being a Greater Deity, and King of the Archfiends, Ruler of the Nine Hells. As a playable character, Chernabog doesn’t lend out his hellish powers or get them from an outside source. Instead he is a Tiefling with the infernal bloodline of Asmodeus (Lawful Evil) running through his veins. When he was an angel, Lucifer would have been a courtier, standing in the shining Court of Heaven before he was banished to Hell. His skills make him adept at lying to and manipulating people, as Insight lets him learn a person’s desires, and then use lies and honeyed words to lead them astray in his service. Consider this a free “how to play as satan” build.
Tumblr media
MALEFICENT THE WICKED FAIRY
As Big Bad: The Raven Queen
As Playable Character:
Race: Hexblood Background: Noble (History, Persuasion Intimidation) Class: Wildfire Druid Skills: Arcana, History, Intimidation, Perception
Lore-wise, Maleficent uses “All the Powers of Hell”, but in terms of Dungeons and Dragons, the Wildfire Druid gives Maleficent the best parallels to her powers, as she’s able to grow a wall of thorns, call a bolt of lightning, Polymorph into a fire-breathing dragon, and spread fire. It also works lore-wise as the Wildfire Druid destroys the very forest they swore to protect. As a Hexblood, Maleficent becomes a fey hag, able to curse princesses and disguise herself as a racial ability. As the Big Bad, Maleficent maps perfectly onto the Raven Queen, ruling over the shadowfell, summoning the Heartless to do her biding, and loaning Diablo to those who worship or swear fealty to the Raven Queen.
Tumblr media
HADES GOD OF THE UNDERWORLD
As Big Bad: Hades/Death God
As Playable Character:
Race: Mephistopheles Tiefling/Reborn Background: Charlatan Class: Death Cleric Skills: Deception, Insight, Persuasion, Sleight of Hand
For Hades, the God of the Dead, making him into a Cleric was a no-brainer. But Clerics have very limited options for fire magic. Sacred flame and Flame Strike both deal radiant damage, and their only other fire spell is Searing Smite which they got in the spell list expansion. But as a Mephistopheles Tiefling, Hades can also gain temporary access to Burning Hands and Flame Blade, along with Mage Hand. Mephistopheles is also the demon best known for making a deal with Faust, a trait shared by the deal-making Hades. If you’re not feeling the fire theme, or your DM doesn’t like the tiefling subraces, Hades can also work as a Reborn.
Tumblr media
THE HORNED KING MASTER OF THE CAULDRON BORN
As Big Bad: Undead/Undying Warlock Patron (Lich)
As Playable Character:
Race: Reborn Background: Noble (History, Persuasion Intimidation) Class: Necromancy Wizard Skills: Arcana, History, Intimidation, Investigation
Ironically, there is a new magic item that maps perfectly onto the Black Cauldron, the Cauldron of Rebirth. But oddly, it can only be attuned by a Druid or Warlock, and the Necromancy Wizard creates the strongest undead thralls, as he adds his Proficiency Bonus to their attack and damage rolls. But if you’d rather have the Horned King be able to use the Cauldron of Rebirth, then make him a Spores Druid. If you absolutely must go warlock, make him an Undead Warlock. As a Warlock Patron, he would be a Lich. In the Chronicles of Prydain books, he served Arawn, God of Death. But the Horned King serves no such master in the Disney film.
Tumblr media
JAFAR THE GRAND VIZIER
As Big Bad: Genie Warlock Patron (Efreeti)
Race: Human/Fire Genasi Background: Courtier (Insight, Persuasion) Class: Genie Warlock (Djinni)/Wild Magic Sorcerer Skills: Arcana, Deception, Insight, Persuasion
Jafar is the only one of the patron villains who themselves is a warlock to another patron. In his human form, Jafar has little to no powers. Everything Jafar is able to do is through either his magic snake staff or Genie’s magic. It’s only once he becomes a genie himself that Jafar has his own powers. So, Jafar here is split between two builds. As a human, he’s a warlock relying on a djinni. As a genie himself, he’s a wild magic sorcerer. Technically, he could be both. Play Jafar however you want. As a big bad, Jafar is stuck as one of the most subserviant types of warlock patron, which isn’t so surprising why he’s this low on the patron scale. Only Ursula is technically weaker than him, but that’s only true when she’s in her base form. Once she wields the trident, Ursula is even more powerful than The Horned King.
Tumblr media
URSULA THE SEA WITCH
As Big Bad: Fathomless Warlock Patron (Sea Hag/Kraken)
As Playable Character:
Race: Triton Background: Courtier (Insight, Persuasion) Class: Glamour Bard Skills: Arcana, Deception, Insight, Performance, Persuasion Items: Circlet of Human Perfection (reskin as seashell necklace)
I built Ariel as a Fathomless Warlock because in order for her to be on land, she had to make a deal with Ursula. So, with Ursula on land, she can masquerade as Vanessa, using Ariel’s voice to charm and manipulate people. We even see Ursula do this when she charms Eric, so we know that as Vanessa, Ursula could easily run a successful criminal empire using Ariel’s voice to hypnotize and manipulate people into obeying her orders. The Circlet of Human Perfection allows Ursula to maintain a perfect beautiful human disguise without having to eat up spell slots. As a Fathomless Patron, Ursula in her base form is a simple Sea Hag, being much weaker. But once she gets a hold of Dekella, the Bident of Thassa from King Triton, she can grow in both size and power to rival the might of a Kraken. And with Thassa’s divine bident, Ursula can command the tides and all the beasts and monstrosities within it, puting her nearly on par with the powers of a goddess of the sea. But unlike Hades, Maleficent, and Chernabog, even at her near godlike power, Ursula still has a stat block, her bident can still be taken from her, and she can still be slain and defeated.
Tumblr media
QUEEN GRIMHILDE THE EVIL QUEEN
Race: Human Background: Noble (History, Persuasion Intimidation) Class: Alchemist Artificer Skills: Arcana, History, Intimidation, Investigation
I really did consider the Transmutation Wizard for Grimhilde, as it has the power to cast polymorph for all of your Frog Prince needs, and a master transmuter can even Restore Youth. But then, the alchemist can brew a potion of transformation, and the chemistry set is clearly how we see Grimhilde using magic. The only magic she performs without the chemistry set is when she creates a gust of wind in front of her magic mirror. She doesn’t even create the lightning bolt for her transformation spell, it just happens to be storming outside, so she’s not controlling the weather either. Plus, the most powerful spell she has is the poisoned apple and she has to summon a bolt of lightning to cast Alter Self, a 2nd level spell. By DnD standards, Grimhilde’s not really that powerful. She doesn’t even fight the player herself in Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep.  If you want Grimhilde to be more magical, then go with Transmutation Wizard, but if you want to be more accurate, the Alchemist is how Grimhilde does her magic. Yzma from The Emperor’s New Groove shares a nearly identical build.
Tumblr media
CAPTAIN HOOK THE GENTLEMAN THIEF
Race: Human Background: Pirate (Athletics, Perception) Class: Swashbuckler Rogue Skills: Athletics, Deception, Insight, Intimidation, Perception, Persuasion
While Hook’s still a putrid coward, he holds himself quite well, and is the epitome of Lawful Evil, maintaining a strict personal moral code to clash with Peter’s frankly Chaotic Neutral “heroism”. Hook’s not really good at the normal rogue skills like hiding or thieving, but he shines as a manipulative double-talking liar. Long John Silver from Treasure Planet has a similar build.
Tumblr media
GASTON LEGUME THE HANSOME HUNTER
Race: Human Background: Folk Hero (Animal Handling Persuasion, Survival) Class: Monster Slayer Ranger Skills: Athletics, Perception, Persuasion Stealth, Survival
As the strapping hero of Belle’s Village, Gaston has the favor of his entire community, keeping them safe from any and all beasties that lurk beyond the city. Too bad he’s as rotten as they come. Likely one of the weakest villains in terms of pure power scale as little more than a local hero, he’s still an iconic enough villain I couldn’t resist adding him. Clayton from Tarzan shares a similar build.
Tumblr media
SCAR THE USURPER OF PRIDE ROCK
Race: Leonin Background: Noble (History, Persuasion) Class: Oath of Treachery Paladin Fighting Style: Unarmed Skills: History, Insight, Intimidation, Persuasion
Simba was a druid because he was a wise king who could call upon his people to stand beside him. Scar is a paladin because he has devoted himself to a single goal: his own personal power. Scar shows little wisdom, but has a strong character and savvy charms about him that make him better suited as a CHA caster.
Tumblr media
JUDGE CLAUDE FROLLO THE JUDGE OF PARIS
Race: Human Background: Investigator Class: Light Cleric Skills: Insight, Investigation, Persuasion, Religion
This was an easy villain to build. As a religious man worshipping God (who would def fall under Life, Light, and maybe Knowledge) Frollo would go for the one that lets him keep witches warm. His background was chosen as an investigator because he’s responsible for keeping the peace in Paris, and there wasn’t a background option for lawmaker. Noble or Courtier might have worked, but didn’t seem quite like the right fit as they deal more with aristocratic authority and royal court politics.
Tumblr media
RIKU THE HEARTLESS KEYBLADE MASTER
Race: Human Background: Soldier (Athletics, Intimidation) Class: Raven Queen Warlock/Hexblade Warlock, Shadow Sorcerer Pact Boon: Blade Skills: Arcana, Athletics, Deception, Intimidation
In the first Kingdom Hearts game, Riku spends most of the game being manipulated by Maleficent. His DnD counterpart would surely be a warlock to her. But Maleficent oddly has not one but three possible warlock patron options. As the Raven Queen, she obviously has the Raven Queen Warlock, but the Raven Queen also created the Hexblade, which come from the Shadowfell, which she rules over. The third is unique to Maleficent, as she is a fairy, and a powerful one at that. Making her a valid choice for an Archfey Warlock. Archfey doesn’t quite fit Riku, but the other two do, and as a Sorcerer, Riku draws power from the Shadowfell which his patron rules over.
Tumblr media
DR. FACILIER THE SHADOW MAN
Race: Human Background: Charlatan (Deception, Sleight of Hand) Class: Fiend Warlock Skills: Arcana, Deception, Persuasion, Sleight of Hand
It’s kind of hard to deny that Dr. Facilier is obviously a warlock, though his patron options don’t really come close to a neat fit. Among his choices though, fiend comes the closest to selling his soul to the Other Siders or Shadow Folk. It’s possible he could have sold his soul to the Raven Queen and his shadowy friends are the emissaries of the shadowfell, but as he has no raven or crow familiar, that’s a somewhat weak comparison.

Name: Morgana Vistel  Fandom: Dungeons & Dragons (Homebrew game)
Age: 22 Occupation: Adventurer Species: Half-elf Gender: Female Family: Thane Vistel (older brother; living), Evey Vistel (younger sister; deceased), Unnamed parents (deceased), Damon Vistel (ancestor; deceased; Watcher) Physical Description: Lithe and fair skinned with shoulder-length, thick, black hair and golden eyes. She has a scar on her chin from a previous skirmish she was in alongside her brother. Pretty features, slightly pointed ears. Hair usually very messy. Personality: (following a 1-2-3 Model). Value - Family. Flaws - Ruthless and Headstrong. Traits - Compassionate, Sincere, and Loyal. Sexuality: Demisexual Backstory: When Morgana was a child, she grew up in a fairly well-off town (Argenhold) that was known for the beautifully ornate jewelry that the artisans produced. This town was located along the mountains of Gentian. Growing up with her older brother (Thane) and baby sister (Evey), she was a happy child who was beginning her studies to become something of a medical professional. She always wanted to help people. When she was fifteen years old, a terrible plague swept through her town, and the powers that be (presumably The Empress) decided the only course of action would be to destroy the town entirely and all of the people in it. Everyone was locked inside the gates, and the entire town was set ablaze, the citizens shot with arrows from the top of the walls if they were caught trying to escape. Morgana and Thane were the only ones who survived the massacre, having hidden themselves under the corpses that were being carted out when all was said and done. Morgana and Thane traveled together after that, having only each other in the world. Both handled the trauma differently, with Thane swearing revenge on the people who murdered their family, and Morgana falling silent for nearly two years as she followed her brother. Her brother became quite the battlemaster, while she turned her talents to the art of being hidden and striking swiftly and silently. The ghosts of their shared past haunted them all along the way. Two months ago, Thane and Morgana were caught in a fight that was over their heads against a band of slavers. This was around the strait between Arvensi and Argoseris. Thane was captured, but caused enough of a commotion for Morgana to be able to escape. He screamed for her to not look back. She ran as far and as fast as she could, vowing to find a way to free him.  Ongoing Story: Morgana arrived on Ralek to try and do some work that would get her a diviner to help her find her brother. Along the way, she met Nerida (a Sirenian Divination wizard), Aedan (a human fighter, later revealed to be Jago Lejune, nephew to the Empress), Shepherd (half-orc druid), and Alistair (satyr bard). While traveling with them, they lost Alistair to a monster, and were shortly after joined by Damien, an elven blood hunter. The party is working to find the lost god-city of Dur, but have been waylaid by a lead on finding Thane. She has also recently learned that Thane’s Watcher was the first Emperor of Altaine, and that Damon (her Watcher/ancestor) was his best friend and Commander during the rebellion that founded the empire. Likes:  Archery, medicine Dislikes: Slavers, the Empress’ family line (for now). Strengths: Stealth, lock-picking, archery Weaknesses: melee combat Notes: Ever since the destruction of Argenhold, Morgana has been able to see spirits, specifically Watchers (spirits of love meant to watch over a mortal). Her own Watcher is her ancestor, Damon Vistel. Her brother’s Watcher is Corasand (Cora for short), and was the first Emperor of Altaine. She doesn’t know yet, but Damon was in love with Corasand in life.
Misc Questions: • KIND OF CLOTHING?: Usually pretty simple. She has been traveling with Thane for the past seven years, so she’s used to traveling light most of the time. She wears studded leather armor. • WHAT ELEMENT WOULD THEY BE?: More likely fire.  • THEME SONG?: “Courage” - P!nk • ALIGNMENT?: Chaotic Neutral • DEADLY SIN THAT BEST REPRESENTS THEM?: Wrath • HOBBIES?: She used to enjoy learning about medicine.  • SPECIAL SKILLS / TALENTS?: She’s very skilled with a bow. Also very good at stealth and picking locks after the past seven years on the road with her brother. • PATIENCE LEVEL?: Usually pretty high, but it’s been wavering.  • REGRETS?: Leaving Thane behind. • ROLE MODEL?: Damon and Cora • MODE OF TRANSPORTATION?: On foot, lately. • PETS?: The party pet seems to be Argos the dog. • WEAPON: Primarily bow & arrow, but she is proficient with a rapier and daggers.  • HOW DO THEY FEEL ABOUT LOVE?: She’s a bit resistant to it, after all she’s been through.  • HOME TOWN?: Argenhold. It no longer exists. • WHERE THEY LIVE NOW?: Nowhere, really. She’s been homeless and traveling with Thane since Argenhold was destroyed. • MAKES A LIVING BY?: Adventuring/hunting creatures. • BAD HABITS?: She’s gotten into the habit of speaking to Damon (or other Watchers/spirits) without much regard for who might hear her.  • DOES THEIR UNIVERSE HAVE A GOD?: Yes, but she puts no faith in the gods. She feels as though they abandoned her, so she’s turned her back on them. • DO GHOSTS OR SUPERNATURAL ENTITIES EXIST IN THEIR’ WORLD?: Yes. She sees and speaks to ghosts on a regular basis.  • OUTLOOK ON LIFE?: Despite everything she’s experienced, she still believes that there has to be good in the world. She is outwardly warm towards people, and has even told Nerida that “Sometimes allowing people to be close to you is painful, but it’s always worth it.”    • MOST IMPORTANT PERSON IN THEIR LIFE: Thane. • WHAT WAS YOUR CHARACTER LIKE AS A CHILD?: Very outgoing and curious. She wanted to learn a lot.  • WHAT IS SOMETHING OTHER PEOPLE ASSUME ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER?: She has a haunted look about her, so people are often kinder towards her because they assume she’s seen some shit. They have no idea just how much.  • LANGUAGES SPOKEN: Celestial, Common, Elvish, Goblin, Sylvan • ENNEAGRAM TYPE? Reformer • SIBLINGS?: Thane (living), and Evey (deceased)  • HAVE THEY EVER WANTED TO COMMIT SUICIDE?: She seriously considered it after what happened in Argenhold. It was Damon talking to her that kept her from going through with it.  • CLOSE FRIENDS?: Damon and Cora. But living, she’s starting to grow closer to Nerida.  • AS A CHILD, WHAT DID THEY WANT TO BE WHEN THEY GREW UP?: She wanted to be a doctor. She had just begun an apprenticeship when Argenhold was destroyed.  • BELIEF IN AN AFTERLIFE?: Yes. • WANTS TO GET MARRIED?: She hasn’t considered it. Subconsciously, she wonders if she’s too broken for anyone to love her.  • WANTS TO HAVE KIDS, RAISE A FAMILY?: Again, she hasn’t considered it.   • SWORN ENEMY?: Admiral Navarch, for destroying her home. Edwin “Eddie” Bellamy, for taking her brother. • IS THEIR NAME A PUN OF ANYTHING?: I technically tried to derive her name from Morgan le Fey. Also, she sees dead people, so I wanted to play with the sound of “morgue”  • MOST TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE?: The burning of Argenhold. • FAVORITE MEMORY?: When she was a little girl, Thane brought her into town to take part in a festival that was being held. She still looks back on that time fondly, thinking of the bright lights and colors floating overhead.  • ARE THEY TICKLISH?: Yes.   • IMPORTANT PEOPLE IN THEIR LIFE: Thane, Damon, Cora. She’s starting to feel like Nerida, Shepherd and Aedan/Jago are important, but she’s not there yet (especially with Jago. She feels pretty betrayed by finding out he’s actually related to the Empress) • IF THEY COULD HAVE ONE THING IN THE WORLD?: If anyone were to actually sit down and ask her, she would tell them that she just wants family and a home.  • WOULD THEY DARE KILL SOMEONE?: With ease, if it meant getting Thane back. She’s not proud of it, but she would also be very willing to torture to get him back.  • INVOLVED WITH MAGIC OR WITCHCRAFT?: Not technically. She has some ghostly-related abilities, but they aren’t inherently magical.

No-Ah Grand Elders: Ev-En, Elder of Earth (Pathfinder 1st edition Quasi-Deity)
The No-Ah hierarchy is, at it's core, a bureaucratic gerontocracy; where age and station dictate the hierarchy. As such the eldest members of each elemental caste of No-Ah, the Grand Elders, serve as the oligarchs of their people. As proof of their authority, No-Ah who live long enough to ascend to grand elder status go up one size category (no larger than huge), gain the mythic subtype, and become quasi-deific. Their granted domains are Artifice, their racial elemental subtype, and two others of their choice. Their subdomains must be Construct, at least one from their elemental domain, and three others. A Grand Elder is always character level 20 and gains the Advanced simple template. Additionally, a Grand Elder gains “Restore Vitality” as a bonus mythic ability (see below). Only when a Grand Elder dies, or more rarely, when a No-Ah of a new elemental type is born does a No-Ah ascend in this manner.
Ev-En, Elder of Earth LN 3rd No-Ah Grand Elder of Earth, Duty, and Sacrifice Domains Artifice, Earth, Law, Nobility Subdomains Caves, Construct, Judgement, Martyr, Toil Worshipers architects, earth no-ah, miners, soldiers, subterranean races. Minions earth elementals, earth no-ah Symbol a downward pointing triangle bisected by a horizontal line Favored Weapon spiked gauntlet or hook hand Obedience hold your left appendage over your heart (or an equivalent) and make an oath out loud to your self to carry out any task set before you, to the best of your ability, by someone who has legitimate authority over you. You must be willing to do anything within your power, even at the risk of personal injury or death, to see those tasks carried out. You gain a +4 luck bonus to any skill check which helps you accomplish such tasks. Boons 1: stone shape 2/day; 2: summon nature's ally II (small earth elemental) 2/day; 3: wall of stone 2/day Predecessors Ev-Ot > Ev-Ri > Ev-En
It is an understanding among the No-Ah that in order to create and preserve anything, something else must be sacrificed, thus one who gives up themselves for the greater good is the most blessed of beings. Few know this truth better than Grand Elder Ev-En. His birth was one of grim necessity. The Qlippoth Lord, Isph-Aun-Vuln, had galvanized her most powerful alien cults to war against the No-Ah with the intent of undermining their mission to preserve and nurture mortal life. Ev-En was among the many No-Ah who were produced en-mass by the Grand Elders to hold a line against her relentless and ruthless armies, a task which required the destruction of planets that could have been converted into bountiful new worlds. He had to kill many beautiful and vibrant lifeforms, tainted by the qlippoth's lies, and watch those same creatures brutally slaughter his siblings and cousins by the thousands. He would give much of himself to help ensure victories for the No-Ah with as little bloodshed on either side as he possibly could, inevitable as it was. To this end, he learned to fight unarmed, bolstered by abjuration magic. This training would prove useful when Ark-00 became assaulted by the Iathavos and it's nyogoth hordes. This Iathavos was trained especially to deal with the No-Ah and proved formidable even for the Grand Elders. Ev-En was among the No-Ah soldiers who fought alongside his parent, Ev-Ri, when the qlippoth singled them out. It was here that Ev-En talents showed their true worth, as he purged the flanking nyogoth of their corruption and turned the tables in the No-Ah's favor. Sadly, the Iathavos proved to much for Ev-Ri and he was thus slain. Ev-En, the eldest of the living Earth No-Ah, immediately ascended and in a fit of righteous fury; felled the qlippoth with a single devastating punch. Channeling his power in this fashion however, would obliterate his right-arm, an eternal reminder of the costs of the No-Ah mission. Though the No-Ah would ultimately prevail and disperse Isph-Aun-Vuln's mortal armies. Ev-En knows that it is only a matter of time before she rallies her forces again. Thus much of his time in recent history has been spent fortifying the now billions of No-Ah Arks and bolstering his people's military power, all in preparation for the inevitable war which will no doubt span entire galaxies.

In addition; Ev-En may instead exchange a modification for a magic weapon special ability appropriate for the limb's enhancement bonus. This is a transmutation Effect.

I realize most npc stat blocks usually only have the spells listed that the character is most likely to have prepared, but I have no way of narrowing that down, so I recommend just using him like a spontaneous caster and only bothering to decide his prepared spells when the players need that information.
Edit: I forgot some bits.

Yukuhashi Ei (逝橋エイ)
Ei has long black hair and a low, calm but somehow whimsical voice, Ei brings her bag full of charms around and is a miko [shrine priestess/maiden] who can see ghosts. Her family runs a Shinto shrine (’jinja’) in Tokyo-7th, and she often helps out at the shrine as a miko. Ever since she was a child, Ei could see ghosts, spirits and demons, and even got possessed by them, although she does not retain the memory of such possession episodes. When she was little, she got so used to running away from the supernatural that actually ends up being the fastest runner during the Nanastar sports day event (although Rena wasn’t there for comparison). Other than her (admittedly outlandish) ability to see spirits, Ei is just an ordinary girl who also happens to be an idol.
Character
Empathetic
Ei is kindhearted, and not merely to other humans or living creatures, but also to the spirits that she meets. In several episodes where she appears, she is shown to be empathetic to spirits. She would let them talk to her, and try her best to help them (even if it was just by lending an ear). In Sawori’s 3.0 episode, Ei showed great empathy towards Sawori’s condition, and was willing to put herself on the line for her friend’s happiness and be Sawori’s ‘bodyguard’ to avoid her getting hurt. Ei also appears to have good awareness and sensitivity, telling others to not move about too fast in case they would hurt Sawori or make her feel bad. In Sisala’s 3.0, Ei was shown to be angry on Sisala’s behalf when someone was being aggressive towards them. She offers assistance and help to people in trouble, showing an ability to put herself in others’ shoes. Ei would also rather not make people feel bad if she can, opting to share her reason for choosing clothes with her friends after they had told her she was unfashionable.
(Sometimes) a pushover
Often ending up in embarrassing or compromising situations, Ei would have an obviously reluctant or troubled expression when people (or ghosts) are asking the impossible of her (like asking her to cosplay). However, when it comes to someone else’s happiness, Ei will eventually comply with enough persuasion (and not necessarily much at all). For example, Ei was vehemently against becoming ‘magical girl miko’ for Manon at first; however, she reluctantly ended up doing it (and very seriously at that) for the purpose of making Manon smile again.
Unusual sense of fashion
Ei’s everyday attire reflects a weird sense of fashion that her friends described as ‘dasakawaii’ (basically ‘lame, but cute’). The only cute factor about her outfit however is the fact that Ei is the one wearing it, so in fashion terms it is perhaps just lame. But, it turns out that Ei chooses clothes not based on how they would look on her, but the memories that they hold. That is why her clothes end up mismatched on her, as each piece represents a different memory (such as of her grandmother, mother, or even the Nanastar idols).
A tease
With her friends knowing that she can see ghosts, Ei at times teases them (especially the ones who are scared of ghosts) by pretending that there are ghosts around. One notable example was Kyouko (who is a scaredy-cat), or even Shihainin himself.
Sensible
Ei actually has a lot of common sense, questioning a lot of things around her that do not add up (such as miko using magic). She uses polite speech when talking to her elders, properly uses honorifics, and is sensible enough to understand that sometimes one needs to hide things to protect others (such as in Sawori’s 3.0). Ei is often there as the foil to the other Nanastar members’ antics instead of being one of the strange or funny ones.
Actually an ordinary girl in most regards
Ei’s traits are, for the most part, very ‘average’. She shows concern about matters but does not rush headlong into issues; nor is she too stubborn before acting. She is kind, but still expresses displeasure when doing things that embarrass her. She also acts as a tsukkomi (straight man) to a lot of the strangeness in Nanastar. Ei is perhaps one of the most ‘ordinary’ out of all the girls, which is quite ironic given her absolutely unique ability to see ghosts.
Character development
Ei’s character development mostly revolves around how she copes and feels about her supernatural ability, as well as the strangeness of her life in general. In her 1.5, it is shared that her ability has brought a lot of trouble upon her since she was a child. However, after being able to help a ghost find their smile again, Ei was able to accept that, with her ability, she might at least be able to help the departed find happiness, or address their unresolved feelings. In her 2.5, Ei was able to use her ‘miko’ status to help Manon, despite her initial reluctance, as she believed it was worth it for the smiles of all the children present at that time. Ei also often uses her jinja’s purifying rites to help drive bad luck away from her friends, such as when she did it for Murasaki and also Sawori. In her 3.5, the emotional reason behind Ei’s strange sense of fashion was revealed.
Relationships
Yamai Sawori (夜舞サヲリ)
Their interaction happened in Sawori’s 3.0, wherein the two were paired up alongside Xiao for a job. Upon hearing Sawori’s desire to not get wounded (at least up until the video shoot was over), Ei realized that ‘not getting injured’, what most people took for granted, was actually something rare for Sawori. She was touched by Sawori’s condition and was willing to spend time everyday with Sawori to keep her out of trouble, making good luck charms for her, and even risking herself for Sawori’s sake. They had a very close relationships, holding hands as they walked around town.
Kawasumi Sisala (川澄シサラ)
Ei was part of the Hip Hop event along with Sisala, and the two seemed to have bonded somewhat (although Ei, being possessed at the time, does not remember much about it). Sisala was one of the ones who asked Ei to turn into a magical girl for Manon. In Sisala’s 3.0, Ei is shown to care a lot for her, using a polite form of speech when she was asking Sisala about sensitive matters. Ei also expressed worry about Sisala potentially having to face her past alone.
Uesugi Kyouko (上杉・ウエバス・キョーコ)
The two have a light, easy going relationship where Ei mostly just teases Kyouko about her fear of ghosts. She was willing to design a ‘ghost hunter show’ simulation for Kyouko, leaving markers all over Nanastar for Kyouko to face and fight her fears.
Echizen Murasaki (越前ムラサキ)
Their interaction happened in Murasaki’s 2.5, when Ei came to help with her school festival. The first thing that Ei did was tell Murasaki about all the spirits in her school, also telling her to be careful of ‘the haunted stairs’. Murasaki was displeased with this, telling Ei to not just tell her about the ghosts in her own school in such a carefree manner. However, Murasaki showed gratitude to Ei and cherished her help, appearing happy when she was given a doll that Ei had put her shrine’s blessing on.
Xiao Fei Hung (シャオ・ヘイフォン)
One of the trio with Sawori, Xiao agreed with Ei to stay with Sawori in order to keep her from getting hurt. Ei kept reminding Xiao not to give away their real intentions so as to protect Sawori’s feelings, also warning her whenever she walked a little bit too fast. The three of them bonded during their days together, as shown when at the end of the episode when they were very comfortable with each other.
Araki Rena (木レナ ), Jedah Diamond (ジェダ・ダイヤモンド), Orisaka Ayumu ( 折笠アユム)
All three were featured in Ei’s 3.0 episode, helping her pick out new clothes. In the end, they were touched by Ei’s reasoning behind her choice of clothes. They talked about how Ei was a wonderful person and why her clothes were important to her.
Trivia
The ‘Yuku’ in ‘Yukuhashi’ means ‘Death’, while the ‘Hashi’ means ‘Bridge’, likely signifying how Ei can see those who have died and not yet crossed the bridge to another realm. Her first name Ei, although in katakana, is perhaps referring to the word meaning ‘keen’, referring to her sixth sense ability to see spirits.
Ei collects charms, can do purifying rites (as expected of a proper shrine maiden), and can see other spiritual phenomena outside of just ghosts. When possessed, her eyes light up purple.
Every time she is offered a mascot or cosplay job, Ei rejects it by saying, “Leave those to Musubi!”
Ei addresses her friends by their first names without honorifics, reflective of a rather outgoing personality. However, she properly uses honorifics (such as ‘-san’) for those older than her.

Tokyo 7th Sisters Character Commentary - Yukuhashi Ei
Other Commentary
Seto Ferb - Mimori Matsuri - Kawasumi Sisala - Shiratori Tomoe - Yamai Sawori - Echizen Murasaki
Warning: May contain spoilers for: Episode 1.5 (Ei) - episode 2.5 (Ei, Kyouko, Murasaki) - Episode 3.0 (Ei, Mimi, Sisala, Sawori)
Yukuhashi Ei
Tumblr media
A long black haired girl with low tone, calm and somehow whimsical voice bringing a bag full of charms, Ei is a miko who can see ghosts. Her family runs a Shinto shrine (jinja) in Tokyo 7th and she often helps her family as a Miko. Ever since she was a child, she could see ghosts, spirits, and demon and even got possessed by them, although she will not have any memory of the time she was possessed. When she was little, she was so used to running away from them, she actually becomes the fastest runner in Nanastar’s sport event Team Sun (lol–there isn’t any Rena there, so I don’t know which between the two are fastest haha). Other than her ability to see spirits, Ei is just an ordinary girl, who happens to be an idol.
Character
Empathetic
Ei is kindhearted and it doesn’t limit its meaning to merely human or living being, but also the spirits she met. In several episodes including her own, she was shown to be empathetic to spirits. She would let the spirits talk to her and she would try to help them as best as she could, or at least just be there to lend an ear. In Sawori’s 3.0 Ei showed great empathy over Sawori’s condition, and was willing to put her self on the line for her friend’s happiness and be Sawori’s “body guard” to avoid hurting herself. She also appeared to be very aware and sensitive, telling others to not move too fast in case it will hurt Sawori or if they would make Sawori felt bad. In Sisala’s 3.0, Ei was shown to be angry in Sisala’s place when someone was showing aggression towards them. She offered assistance and help to people in trouble, showing sensitivity over someone else’s condition. She also would rather not make people feel bad if she could, opting to not tell her friends of her reason for choosing clothes after they told her it’s unfashionable.
A pushover
Often being placed in either embarrassing or compromising situations, Ei would often look obviously reluctant or troubled when people (or ghost) are asking the impossible out of her (like asking her to cosplay). However, when it comes to someone’s happiness, she would eventually comply given enough persuasion–which usually came in rather easily. Ei was vehemently against becoming magical girl miko for Manon at first, however, albeit reluctantly, she eventually did do it (and actually very serious in it) if it were to make Manon smile again.
Sentimental sense of fashion
Ei has a weird sense of clothing for her everyday attire that her friends said it to be “dasakawaii” which basically lame, but cute. The only cuteness is because Ei is the one wearing, so perhaps in fashion sense it’s just lame. Turned out, Ei chose clothes not based on how they would look good on her, but the memories it holds. That is why her clothes often mismatched each other as each piece is for a memory of different person (like her grandmother, her mother, or the Nanastar idols).
Likes teasing people
With people knowing that she can see ghost, at times she teased people, especially those who are scared by ghost, by saying there are ghost near them or at least pretend that she would say so (only to say something different). An example was Kyouko, who is a scaredy cat, or even Shihainin himself.
Sensible
Common sense is actually one of Ei’s traits, where she questioned a lot of things in the universe that did not add up (such as Miko who use magic). Ei uses polite form when talking to her elder, properly use their honorofic, and is sensible to understand one need to hide something so as to not hurt someone else (such as in Sawori’s 3.0). She also often there to tsukkomi the others’ antics, actually being the straightman instead of the strange one in the team.
Actually is just an ordinary girl in so many meaning
Her other traits are all very “average”. She shows concern, but not the type that rush headlong right away or being too stubborn. She is kind, but still show displeasure for things that embarrassed her. She also tsukkomi a lot of the strangeness in Nanastar. She is perhaps one of the most… “ordinary” out of all the girls, which is also quite ironic, since she might one of the more unique ones with her ability to see ghost.
Character Development
Ei’s character development so far mostly revolves around how she cope, or rather, feel about her supernatural ability or her strangeness. In 1.5 it is expressed that her ability has brought her a lot of trouble since she was a child, however upon being able to help a ghost finding her smile back, she was able to accept that if by having the ability she could make at least those that departed find their happiness back or solve their unresolved feelings. In 2.5 Ei was also shown to use her Miko status to help Manon, and despite her initial reluctance, also believed that it was worth the smile of every children present at that time. She also often used her jinja’s purifying rites to help rid away bad luck from her friends, giving them to Murasaki and also to Sawori. In 3.5, it is shown that even her fashion sense is strange, it was because every clothing articles she wore had memories, the main reason why she chose them.
Relationship
Yamai Sawori
Sawori and Ei’s interaction happened in Sawori’s 3.0, where Ei was paired with Sawori along with Shao for a job. Upon hearing how Sawori desired to not getting wounded at least until a PV shot, Ei realized that something they felt as usual such as not getting injured, is actually something rare for Sawori and she has taken it for granted. She was touched by Sawori’s condition and willing to spend time everyday with Sawori to keep her out of trouble, making charms for Sawori, and even willing to risk herself for Sawori’s sake. They also had a very good relationship, holding hands together as they walk around town.
Kawasumi Sisala
Ei was part of the hip hop event along with Sisala and seemed to have bonded some what (although Ei did not remember much about that time). She was also the one Sisala and co. asked to turn into magical girl for Manon. In Sisala’s 3.0 Ei was shown to have cared a lot for Sisala, while also showing respect, using polite form of speech when she knew she was asking something sensitive. She also express worry upon knowing that Sisala might have to face her past alone.
Uesugi Kyouko
Ei and Kyouko has a light, easy going relationship where Ei was mostly just teasing Kyouko about ghosts. She was willing to design a “ghost hunter show” simulation for Kyouko at least, leaving markers all over Nanasis for Kyouko fight her fear.
Echizen Murasaki
Ei and Murasaki’s interaction happened in Murasaki’s 2.5 when she came to help with Murasaki’s school festival. The first thing that Ei did was telling Murasaki about all the spirits in her school and also told her to be careful of the haunted stairs. Murasaki seemed displeased however, telling Ei to not just tell her that easily about the ghosts in one’s own school. However, Murasaki still showed gratitude and cherish the help she got, also appeared happy when she was given a doll which Ei had also helped to put her jinja’s blessing on.
Xiao Fei Hung
Being assigned together with Xiao and Sawori, Ei and Xiao agreed to not let Sawori get hurt by keep on being with her. Ei appears to keep reminding Xiao to not show their real intention to be with Sawori so as not to make Sawori feels bad, also warning Xiao whenever she walks just a little bit faster, or seems like she will fall. The three of them bonded during their days together, shown to be very comfortable with each other at the end of the episode.
Araki Rena, Jeddah Diamond, Orisaka Ayumu
All three appeared in Ei’s episode 3.0, helping her to pick some new clothes. In the end, they were touched by Ei’s reasoning and with Ei only letting things go and did not bother to explain herself, they talked about how what a wonderful person she was and why her clothes are important for her.
Trivia:
The ‘Yuku” in Yukuhashi means “Death” while “Hashi” means “Bridge”, perhaps signifying how Ei could see those that have died yet has not yet crossed the bridge to another realm. The name Ei, although katakana, perhaps may mean “keen”, signifying Ei’s sixth sense ability to see spirits.
She collects charms, can do purifying rites, and other than ghost can see other spiritual phenomena. When she is possessed, her eyes will lit up purple.
Every time she is being offered a mascot/cosplay job, she would reject it by saying, “Leave those to Musubi!”
She calls her friends on first name basis without honorifics, showing a rather outgoing personality, but she properly use -san honorifics for those older than her.

THE HAILSTORM // Lacha. Air Archfey: Snow Bunting. Unseelie Court.               Born in 1793. Living at Avalon Bowery, Apt. 10A.
Ruling Hand: Darkness. Right hand. A beacon-like power which creates a shadow screen through which no glamour can pass, enabling the Queen’s true sight.
Wild Hand: Desire. Left hand. When Lacha puts this hand on someone, she is able to read the true desires, in that moment, of whomever she is currently touching.
Personal Power: Muting; Lacha can still soundwaves in the air, rendering vocal noises silent in the room she’s in. Can be used as a blanket or to target one person.
KNOWN TRAITS // Independent, assertive, dedicated, discerning, strategic.
Tumblr media
Being born to grief and rejecting its offering. A legacy living in your blood, a bridge between worlds. The sound of a hailstorm. Knowing that if not watchful, iron rusts—and red isn’t your colour. Made for metals, for the strength of iron and steel where your backbone should be. The taste of copper. The sheen of a silver moon’s sliver. How too much light can blind you. That true seeing comes from being left in the darkness, discovering your own way home.
History
⇢ Trigger warnings: death, suicide mentions.
Lacha is a third-generation ruler, granddaughter of the first Unseelie Queen, though they never met. Her mother, Celia, let her emotions and desire to be liked cloud her judgement, which wreaked havoc on her rule—an issue that claimed the life of Celia’s firstborn, Eala, in the name of peace. During that hard-earned peace, Lacha was born, but Celia never really recovered from the loss of Eala and the hardships she’d endured on behalf of the Court, which never loved her as much as she’d hoped and worked for. When Lacha was 12, Celia drowned herself out of grief. That is part of the legacy Celia left behind: the knowledge that giving the people what they want can be just as dangerous as withholding. Lacha’s father, King Consort Tierney, raised her alone and acted as regent until she inherited the ruling power. He did his best to encourage in Lacha the fortitude, strategic thinking, and foresight he felt claimed the life of his late wife. He’d never intended for nor desired a sole Unseelie crown, but he did the best he could with both ruling and raising, giving both love and lessons in equal measure. Being brought up in this environment, Lacha mourned her mother but aimed to rule with a much stronger heart and cooler head. In 1850, Lacha’s ruling power came to hand and she ascended the Unseelie throne, beginning her reign.
It began in peace, and so at age 68, Lacha gave birth to Caora, with a strong traditional name. It was good for the stability of the Court, but Lacha refused to compromise her rule and wouldn’t name the father, though she legitimized Caora as a proper Princess with all rites and honours. Lacha’s first big trial as Queen came when World War I came. Initially, it was played like anything else: picking favourites, pitting sides, making bets, but escalated to the point where the Unseelie Court and Seelie Court were back at war against one another, renewing old blood feuds too easily. It seemed that the war wouldn’t stop among the humans until it stopped among the fey, and both Queen Lacha and King Adare didn’t want their new rule defined by so much loss of sacred fey life, so they followed tradition and Sacrificed their firstborn daughters to bring peace to the Courts in 1918. The end of the first World War followed soonafter. King Adare and Queen Lacha formed a fragile truce, relegating their competition and warlust to the game of Fidchell as they decided to follow the flow of immigration from Ireland to the United States, selecting New York City’s ley lines just in time for the Roaring ’20s. Though the world changed, Lacha continued to adapt and make the Unseelie Court strong and viable—even if some see her as intractable.
GAME UPDATE 07/17: For 2018′s annual An Fidchell battle, Lacha wagered the identity of Camellia’s father against Adare’s identifying the Seelie demifey twins’ mother. On June 13th, Gale came to owe a favour to King Adare, which complicated that wager, as it meant unveiling Gale for who he is would also reveal the boon of a favour Adare had earned. In her frustration, Lacha sent Gale to the Wandering Wood for a few days as punishment. On June 21st, the Unseelie lost; normally, Lacha would have made good on her wager that day after the game concluded, but the rebellion kicked up feyry fire which threw the event into chaos. Lacha revealed the identity of Gale on July 11th.
GAME UPDATE 09/11: Only July 27th, a blood moon and lunar eclipse happened; that night, both Courts lost the ability to perform glamour magic. On top of that, the body of an Unseelie fey was found—a blood relation to Lark—killed in the same style as the Seelie’s Eurya much earlier in the year, indicating a possible hunter. Lacha met with King Adare to work together against the hunter; he agreed on the terms that she re-accept Sorrel as Seelie Knight again and that Jasmine have priority access to the dwindling #99 supply [x]. She is also feeling jealous when Gale was voted to marry Gorta during the Lugnasad marriages and is reconsidering choosing him as Consort, but hasn’t yet decided.
Occupation
Queen & Proprietor.
Lacha’s primary role is being Queen; looking after the wellbeing of the Court, keeping it strong and healthy. That doesn’t only include the stewardship of the fey, but also maintaining her conduit with feywild magic. Part of that is having an heir to provide stability and peace, so that the Court can flourish. Lacha also owns and operates the Rookery, the speakeasy through which the addicting elixirs are sold to lure in humans into the feyry games.
Connections
Camellia: Camellia is Lacha’s second and only daughter, the heir, whom she loves and is training for eventual rule. Lacha is convinced that, should she need it, she can find another option to save her Court that doesn’t involve killing her daughter. She has an inkling Camellia is up to something, but isn’t too worried yet.
Gale: Lacha’s one-time love and secret relationship; whether this relationship is still ongoing is up to the players. Gale is the secret father of Camellia (though not of Caora). Lacha appreciates that she can show her soft side to Gale and knows he will keep her secrets safe. They are still on good terms and close confidants.
Malachite: One of Lacha’s most valuable assets and sometime friend, Malachite is important to the business venture that Lacha runs to entice humans into becoming pieces in her game. She flatters him because she requires him, though she also finds his erratic behavior entertaining.
PLAYLIST 1. Too Much to Bear // 2. Lullabye // 3. Eyes on Fire
Tumblr media
Lacha is portrayed by Jessica Chastain [gifs]. The faceclaim is NEGOTIABLE. Lacha is currently TAKEN by Genevieve and not available for application.

Questions from this post. Gonna answer for my half-drow warlock Keladeinos since I love her and I’m waiting for a long ass tame in Ark anyway.
A story for every scar. Do any of their wounds have interesting origins?
Not particularly. She’s got more callused hands than you’d expect on a noblewoman, but nothing that particularly sticks out.
Three songs that show their character progression.
“Run” by Delta Rae (Childhood)
“Stand by Me” by Karlienne (18-20)
“Dangerous Woman” by Ariana Grande (post meeting Elric)
If they were a god which god would they be?
If Kela was an established god of a mythos, I’d put her pretty solidly with Artemis of the Greek pantheon, Freya of the Norse pantheon, or Isis of the Egyptian pantheon. Isis particularly rings true, since her hunt for Osiris’s body parts is a large inspiration for how I’m writing Kela’s quest to become fey. Same sort of difficulty and obstacles.
What was their favourite subject at school?
Of everything she was taught at home, her favorite was probably languages. She learned Common as her first language, then Undercommon and Elvish swiftly after that. She learned Draconic to keep up with Ilgarian politics after her first marriage to an Ilgarian baron, then finally Sylvan to keep up with fey politics from her second marriage.
What does their voice sound like?
Like me trying my damn best to do a British accent at the same time as me trying my damn best to imitate Vivienne from Dragon Age: Inquisition. I keep coy, yet gentle when using her voice, unless someone pisses her off, at which point I dip my voicebox down to lower the pitch and go from there.
Animal, vegetable, mineral: what one thing symbolizes them the most?
I started with a wolf, but I’ve ended up associating Kela the most with caribou/reindeer. They keep their horns in the winter and that works well with Kela poking the Winter Court. I also associate caribou with stamina and determination, due to how long some of their migrations can be, and that’s a definite trait of Kela’s. She’ll go the distance for the long game as long as she can if she has to.
If they could control one of the four elements what would it be?
Water, for ice. If this was Avatar: The Last Airbender, her being from the Water Tribe makes the most sense.
What would their favourite tv show be?
Ye gods, I don’t watch TV, hmmm...I think she’d like Law & Order to get inspiration for more convincing sounding explanations for weird shit, same with a lot of documentaries. Planet Earth would be something she’d heavily be interested in.
Would they ever use magic to gain love?
Yes and no.
Use magic to gain enough power to petition the Courts to let her become fey? Yes.
Use magic to take over people’s freewill to gain their love? Fuck no. Too easy, too much cheating.
What do they think of themself?
Kela thinks she’s pretty great. She’s got a bit of an ego on her that she’s kind of earned. She doesn’t think she’s the greatest, mind you. She’s got the biggest ego she can healthily and pragmatically have.
Gender and sexuality?
Cis, she/her, and demiromantic pansexual. Sex and gender don’t factor into if she’s attracted to someone.
Do they have a type?
Yes, yes she very much does. Her husband. If her husband for, some reason, is permanently wiped from the picture, she’d more or less have a type for intelligent and skilled hunter-y types. It’s frosting on the cake if they’re adorable to her in how they fumble around her if they have a crush (feed that ego, do it) and how they show affection.
Playing video games, would they be a completionist, a speed runner, how would they play?
Only RPGs, only those with extensive dialogue trees, has multiple saves to look and examine context for different dialogue options and how conversations go.
Also visual novels, specifically those with a female protagonist.
If they could solve one problem, what would they solve?
Easy answer is her own damn self not having enough power to petition the Courts.
Hard answer is her figuring out a way to basically be by her husband’s side forever. Even before meeting her husband, she’d have idle daydreams of trying to find a way to lichdom without enslaving and hurting people on gigantic scales.
What horoscope stereotype fits them the most?
Leo. Without a singular doubt. The biggest stereotype for Leo that I can think of that fits Kela to a perfect T is that she needs to tone it down. It being her flair for the dramatic.
Favourite terrain?
Snowy forests
How do they dress?
Typically and secretly in armor. Her armor’s enchanted to look like whatever she needs it to look like. This is commonly traveling robes or a very fancy dress.
What would their ideal home be like?
Out in the middle of nowhere, has a hot spring nearby, has well-stocked hunting grounds, enough room to jog out into the forest and scream with no one else to hear her.
What would they like their mark in history to be?
Being the full-fledged Queen of the Winter Court for a good time period.
If they could be a dragon, would they be a dragon?
Kela would like to be many things that aren’t what she currently is. She wouldn’t say no to being a dragon, but wouldn’t jump at the offer either. She’d be a copper or brass dragon, maybe a faerie dragon.
