Not to mention how absolutely shit it is on your brain to never see daylight (except maybe the very first rays of morning sun) during winter. In bed at 6-7am and up around 4-5pm? No sun for you bucko!
I hate it! I don't want to be like this! I want to go to bed around 4am and get up around 2pm! Gives me time to do things during the day. But after a few months of "finally got my schedule back to 4am"... something comes up and we're right back a 6-7am
I don't think people realize that night owls end up spending their friends and families entire time asleep awake. "What do you do all night???" Chores, then I watch tv or play a game. There's literally nothing else to do. We're trapped in the house through the majority of our waking hours
I never scoff when a friend says they're exhausted cause they only got like 5 hours of sleep, because that would be mean. Of course they're tired they're not used to that. But their "we're up early for something after a night of partying" 5 hours means I've had 1 or 2. And I still won't be tired enough to go to bed "on time" the next night (no matter how many times my mom says that can't be true)
Spending a whole day awake in the sun doing things with people is amazing. It's like a brand new experience for my brain and body every time it happens. Because both are so used to basically living in a dark cave alone most days (don't get me wrong though, I do like the solitude and quiet most of the time. Very recharging for my little adhd brain)
Basically all this to say this is far far from a choice. It's not fun being jet lagged all the time.
If you want proof that your night owl friends aren't lazy or insane. Try going to bed several hours before your normal bed time (after several nights of decent sleep) say 4 or 5 hours early. Just close your eyes and be still! Do your nighttime routine!!! You'll fall right to sleep....right?
Or, if you have a time to do this (please don't kill yourself), try only getting 5 or 6 (or less) hours of sleep a few days in a row. No naps, that's lazy. And you can't go to bed several hours early either, gotta eat your 3 meals, do your chores, and be present for your friends and family. See how you feel....
Sound like an insane experiment huh 🙃
Anyways please, be kind to your night owl friends. Remember that even though they seem to function just fine on tiny amounts of sleep, they are struggling. And for the love of god quit saying "well who's fault is that?" please
Ok wait let her speak
