I'm personally a big fan of the CGR-3Kr which retains the flavor of 'haha insano punch machine' but updates it to Jihad era tech with TSM and a sword

one of my favourite mechs is the charger, just cos its kinda shit. like, just a bit of a bad mech. sure, such speeds are pretty cool on a 80 ton mech, but only 5 small lasers?????? its the sort of thing only a maniac would pilot, a little like the hunchback, but with a lower survival rate, but the mech jockeys who survive mroe than one engagement in it are real fun. like the guy who only died cos he tried to do an elbow drop in the damn thing
