The Toy Soldier of Cassardis

Uhh she’s Ciel! The one with the middle child vibes in Cassardis’ designated village weirdos (I hc that Quina is the oldest while Valmiro is the youngest. Quina is older by a year while Ciel is only older than Valmiro by like.. a month? It’s why Valmiro gets annoyed whenever she teases him lol “The only difference is a month, cos!”)

As to her title, it began when they were still kids!! Quina was already set on becoming a renowned healer when she grows up while Valmiro, despite not having any specific dream, seemed to take great interest in learning about the whole world. This left Ciel at an impasse whenever they play pretend. She never really did express any sort of wanting to become something.

“Oh I know, cos!” Quina pipes up suddenly, bouncing off the sand, “you’ll be the soldier that will protect us!”

“Eh? But I’m no good with weapons…” Ciel sulked.

“Oh come now, it’s just pretend! And besides, don’t you want to be an elite guard? Quina needs somebody to travel with her whenever she travels from place to place healing folks while my scrolls and books need protection from any thief wanting to steal them!” Valmiro says, adding to the oldest girl’s idea. Quina hums happily, pleased with his reasoning.

Ciel began warming up to the idea. A soldier huh…

Pablos the innkeeper was actually the one who gave her the moniker because he was so amused by it HAHAHA. He even taught her a lil bit of the bow so she could impress Quina and Valmiro.

That’s her backstory hehe :’)) I kinda wanna write some stuff about her and Valmiro too… (Valmiro getting really sad about Ciel leaving the village + getting envious that she gets to see the outside world + jealous that she doesn’t get to spend much time with him anymore)
