#I'm sure someone has done something with this #sadly a massive amount of fanfic has been lost #but i still feel like there should be more exploring this Lochinvar thing #admittedly i had to google it #but seriously hutch calls him that twice #once in foxy lady which was appropriate #and once i think in the heavyweight? #hutch using early 19th century scottish poetry to hint to Starsky he wants him to sweep him off his feet #so they can ride off into the sunset together is so on brand for hutch #one day Starsky's gonna be like who the hell is lochinvar #and huggy's just gonna hand him a book #by season 4 hutch has escalated to Shakespeare #using references he knows starsky doesn't know for maximum plausible deniability #oh hutch #you gotta use references he understands #if i could draw I'd recreate the balcony scene from r&j #with Starsky as Romeo and Hutch as...Julian?? #Hutch in a flowing white poet shirt #Starsky all dashing in a tunic and tights with a sword #i bet hutch has dreamed of that #but all this would require Hutch admitting that the torino is Starsky's noble steed #and we can't have that can we

So you're telling me that Hutch calls Starsky Gordo all of once and it shows up in every other fanfic but twice calls him the name of a dashing hero from a romantic Scottish ballad who crashes his beloved's wedding to a terrible fiance and steals her away so they can ride off into the sunset on his noble steed and no one's doing anything with that? Do I have to do everything myself?

#i was not consciously aware of any of this but it DELIGHTS me. good post very good post #and very on brand for hutch indeed!!#being well-read doesn't make him smart it just gives him brand new more cryptic ways to be emotionally unintelligent
