geshuyan brainrot…i don’t know all i have are my headcanons.
Whether it’s from responsibility or nature, Jiyan is not open with his feelings. Geshu Lin, on the other hand is very explicit about his feelings on all things. He (intentionally and unintentionally) excels at pushing Jiyan until he bursts.
As a young medic eager to join the war seeing the General's prowess and strength instantly captivated Jiyan (in more ways then one)
Jiyan fell first, in every way. It was bad. Just a terrible crush for years, poor guy. Imagine the sweetest guy you know having a crush on the worst guy possible that’s what it was.
It was not rare for Geshu Lin to ask for Jiyan's advice. He might not listen to it but he indulged him nonetheless. Other's thought it was rather usual for the general to address a mere medic and for such a medic to issue high level commands so often but nobody wished to be the one to question it.
Ranks are the foundation of the military so it speaks volumes how easily Jiyan and Geshu Lin address each other. When they were by themselves titles were easily dropped.
They argued like crazy. Jiyan couldn't stand Geshu Lin's recklessness and cruelty and Geshu Lin despised his naivety. It was normal for a whole meeting to collapse into argument. Geshu Lin's authority meant Jiyan yielded almost every time, but occasionally if pushed far enough he would storm off in a huff.
Jiyan remembers every detail about Geshu Lin. The arrogance, the power, the scars all over his body. He can still see the nicks and scratches along his broadblade. He remembers the sound of his boots and the dangling clink of his necklace. Whenever he sees him in the rain, Jiyan curses himself for remembering so much and curses the rain even more for not letting him forget.
Geshu Lin knew from the moment they met Jiyan would be his successor. The way his eyes shown just like his once did was all the proof he needed.
Geshu Lin trained Jiyan personally on the occasion. When he spoke of his desire to enter combat the general once gave him personal lessons.
Jiyan avoids spending long amounts of time in the General's office. It gets dusty quickly and he never has the motivation to clean it.
Geshu Lin is rather open with his expressions. His displeasure, his anger, his amusement are written all over his face. He'll laugh and joke with freedom. It is his heart that is rather cold. Jiyan is more muted, it takes effort to provoke an emotion onto his face. He is serious more often that not. But his heart is warm and gentle and full of love. It is something they both admired about each other but despised as well.
Serious Jiyan kind of turns all squishy around the former general. He is not one to senselessly bend to authority but around Geshu Lin the edge and sharp corners kind of melt away. When they aren't at each other's throats at least.
Jiyan is just a pinch taller than Geshu Lin but Geshulin was the type to grab his jaw just to pull him down and make him look up (Jiyan secretly liked looking up).
In his nightmares when Jiyan dreams of black flames and endless monsters, Geshu Lin is there more often then not
JIYAN YEARNS!!! TO THIS DAY HES STILL YEARNING
Geshu lin is not as hostile as the rain would suggest. He is not kind but the rain always pulls the worst and most fervent moments out. The kinder moments are buried far away where the rain can’t reach. It’s been years but Jiyan still gets thrown off guard when the phantoms speak such harsh words to him.
Speaking of the retroact rain, the rain harbors obsessions and powerful emotions. Jiyan can never escape Geshu Lin whenever it rains
Geshu Lin is the yapper Jiyan just listens.
Jiyan feels conflicted about Geshu Lin. It is not hatred nor love. He can't help how he feels. He can't tell anyone about the hole in his heart. He curses the general's selfishness but when the retroact rain falls he feels bubbling anxiety and a twinkle of hope. Perhaps it was mutual understanding. They were the same deep down. He concluded that he simply wished for someone who understood him. His fears, his insecurities, the responsibility and the indecisiveness. Geshu Lin was not the warmest of partners but he was one who knew him. Even if he could not relieve him of the burden he was someone who understood it.
