Ed chuckled. "Better than Jet's... Alright then." He activated an interface on the nightstand, and quickly coded up... what looked entirely like a sharpie, except for the glowing band of colors ranging full visible spectrum near the top, and a small rotating ring above it with an arrow to indicate the color of the marker ink. The ink would be difficult to wash off, but would start to fade just a little longer than the time in which the portal would close.

"Blood really can be a curse sometimes," Ed agreed. "I wish I could tell you some day you'll escape it, and I hope some day you do, but I haven't been able to, yet, either." He handed the marker to Sam.

He coded up something else, that materialized almost like a glowing, vaporous film that seemed to cling to his hand. He ran his hand through Eve's hair, and stuck up on end and turned a bright, glowing turquoise.

...The effect would wear off... eventually.

"...in my defence, Mackey's a dick." Eve offered sheepishly when Ed finally caught up to her. "And Sam asked nicely." She swatted at a halfhearted attempt by the nearest Security Program to get her to stop stealing or randomly rearranging letters, and they shrugged and backed off - ambling away to report that they'd tried.

"Wanna play too? I kinda want to find out what he'll do if he suddenly no longer has the letter E anywhere in his presentation."
