ELF #1: Seneca
The Seneca language belongs to the Iroquoian language family of North America. It is spoken by the Seneca tribe, most of whom live in western New York and others in Oklahoma. It is estimated that only 100 or so native speakers remain, however there has been a huge push recently to revitalize the language. Senecas young and old can learn the language in the schools on the Seneca reservations. Links for more Info: native-languages.org wikipedia article on the language mingolanguage.org (mingo is actually a dialect of Seneca spoken in Oklahoma. You can use this to learn Seneca also). Gwa'yoh story Onohgwa' -how to make corn soup in Seneca (and English) and this site has a collection of links too Here is the Seneca Nation of Indians official website. Also check out the Handbook of the Seneca Language which is available for viewing in Google Books.
