Okay, so I’ve established that geckos are a no-go right now because of the time commitment their lifespan entails.

(And also their humid tropical habitat attracts just. A metric fuckton of fungus gnats. Who can crawl through the cracks of a front-opening terrarium and make a million baby gnats in there. I am not okay with this.)

But you know what is a cool pet that’s fun to watch, similar enough to hamsters that I have relevant experience, live a few years, and have the cutest lil faces??

#babbling moth #i am trying not to get prematurely attached to the ide but uh.#im pretty excited about this #they're so cute and they like having friends and u can give them so many fun things to entertain their clever lil minds #also on the plus side the exp i gained from building a gecko terrarium can be applied to later bioactive builds #tbh? im thinking dart frogs #they're cute and brightly colored and eat isopods which i already know how to keep and culture #and some ppl recommend a solid acrylic lid for their tank to better hold humidity... which would also keep fungus gnats out >:)#it's allllll coming together #.... a few years from now that is #when i live in a place that can be trusted to not get 85 F indoors in summer #that's fine honestly. half the fun of pet projects is doing the research and building elaborate schemes for Unspecified Future Times #and then enthusiastically infodumping about your schemes and best husbandry practices to anyone willing to stand still long enough #which might end up being u guys so stay tuned! :D #or like. unfollow. u are the master of ur own content feed and i respect ur preferences. fare thee well out there in the wilds of tumblr #i won't remember u fondly. but only bc i have no idea who's following me and only check to block bots lol #okay this tag rant has gone in a weird direction. in conclusion: mouse
