An Open Door
In which Eddie leaves, and Tommy stays. bucktommy. rated G. read below or on ao3.
Buck waved as Eddie’s truck turned at the end of the street. He stood in the driveway for a bit, staring at the house. Now empty, ready for an older couple to move into next week.
He thought about all the memories there. The many nights spent playing video games with Christopher, the both of them begging Eddie to let Chris stay up ten more minutes.
The times Buck came to Eddie’s with good news, or bad news. A home he was as comfortable in as his own.
A home he’d never step foot in again.
He sighed, got into his Jeep, took one last look, and drove away.
*****
When he got to his loft, he didn’t think twice before heading for the kitchen. He got out a baking sheet, turned on the oven, and went to the pantry to grab his ingredients.
It’d been a while since he’d done this. He’d stopped around the time Maddie had gotten taken, then most of his spare time was spent helping Eddie sell his place and find one in Texas.
But now he had all the free time in the world, which meant he could bake until he ran completely out of flour- then head to the store for more.
As he began mixing the ingredients together for some shortbread cookies, his mind was in overdrive.
He couldn’t stop thinking. Thinking about all the good memories, the way he used to feel, how happy he was every time they made plans, what it was like having him there.
And he thought about how he felt now. How sad, lonely, heartbroken. The way he wished more than anything he could change how it all ended. How he wished the people he loved would learn to stay. How-
Oh.
The oven beeped to alert it was preheated at the exact moment Buck connected the dots.
He knew what he needed to do. What he had to do.
Quickly, he scrubbed his hands, shut off the oven, and grabbed his keys and a Ziploc bag from the freezer.
It was now or never.
*****
Buck knocked on the door, swaying from side to side anxiously as he waited for it to open.
He took a deep breath once the doorknob turned, needing a second to take in the sight in front of him.
Tommy standing there in sweats, a black henley, and his jacket. Hair slightly disheveled, eyes blinking rapidly to adjust to the sunlight.
“Ev- Buck, what are you doing here?”
“I needed to talk to you.”
“Okay." Tommy moved to the side. "Do you… you wanna come inside?”
“I won’t stay long. I- I’ve had a rough few weeks. It- Actually, it’s been a rough few months.”
“I heard about Maddie,” Tommy said. “I’m glad she’s okay. I would’ve called, but I didn’t think it was my place.”
“It would have been nice,” Buck replied bitterly, “to hear from you.”
Tommy nodded, eyes downcast. “I’m sorry, Buck.”
“That’s not- I’m not here because of that.”
“Okay. So... why are you here?”
“Eddie left today, for Texas.”
“To go visit Chris?”
“To move there. Y- You didn’t hear about that?”
“No,” Tommy answered, crossing his arms over his chest. “I haven’t spoken to Eddie since we broke up. Are you okay?”
“I was baking-” Buck held out the bag in his hand, giving it to Tommy, “here’s some cookies, by the way. Chocolate chip walnut.”
“My favorite.”
“I know. Anyway, I was baking and I realized that, I was sad. I was really, really sad. And angry. I- I felt betrayed, and lonely, and hurt.”
“Eddie was a good friend to you.”
Buck huffed out a laugh, shaking his head. “It didn’t have anything to do with Eddie, Tommy.”
Tommy’s eyebrows furrowed, a second of confusion washing over him until realization hit. “Oh.”
“Yeah, oh. Eddie’s always gonna be my friend. He- no matter where he is, I’ll be able to call or go visit, and I’m sure he’ll visit here with Christopher. It… It’s you, Tommy. I want you in my life. I- I know I screwed up. I didn’t think everything through, and y- you were right. I was being impulsive.”
“I screwed up too,” Tommy admitted.
Buck nodded in agreement. “Yeah, you did. I wasn’t aware there were rules to figuring out your sexuality and I- I didn’t realize that you went into this thinking I was just passing through-”
“Buck, that’s not-”
“Let me finish.” Buck took a breath, straightening up as Tommy pursed his lips. “I wasn’t using you as a way to test out whether or not I was really into men. You- Tommy, I was all in. It hurt me to think that you never were.”
Tommy waited a moment, then, “Is it okay to talk now?” he asked, voice quiet.
“I’m done.”
“When I asked you out that night, at your place, I had no idea you hadn’t ever been with another man. And when I found out, I decided right then and there that you could set the pace. However slow that pace was, it was on you. I didn’t realize your pace was a hell of a whole lot faster than mine. I didn’t know I’d spend the majority of the next six months out of breath, running to try and catch up-”
“Tommy-”
Tommy held up a hand. “Please, just… let me finish.”
With a little eye roll, Buck held his tongue.
“I’ve never known anyone who,” he paused, choosing his words carefully, “who cares as much as you. I’ve never had anyone care for me or stick around once they really got to know me and that scared me.”
Now it was Buck’s turn to wait a moment before asking, “Is it okay to talk now?”
“I’m done.”
“Love.”
Tommy blinked once. Twice. “Love?”
“You said no one had ever cared for you, but it wasn’t just that,” Buck replied, on a roll now. “It was- is- love. I love you, Tommy. That’s the only way I can explain it, and I should have said it before but I don’t think it even hit me until I was in my second week of trying to make the perfect sourdough bagels. I have never, ever felt the pain I felt when you walked out the door. I’ve never mourned a partner the way I’ve mourned you and I’ve never loved someone the way I love y-”
Suddenly, Tommy’s finger was hooked under Buck’s chin, lifting his head slightly, just enough to press their lips together.
Buck moaned into it and, when Tommy went to back away far too soon, Buck was grabbing onto his jacket and pulling him closer.
Tommy dropped the cookies, bringing his arms around Buck’s back and holding him tight.
“Evan,” Tommy panted as they finally parted for air. “Evan, I-”
“What?” Buck asked, noting the sad look on Tommy’s face. “What’s wrong?”
“I dropped your cookies.”
Buck threw his head back with a laugh, grabbing onto Tommy’s face and kissing him again. “There’s plenty more where that came from, I promise.”
Tommy smiled softly, unable to tear his eyes away from Evan’s. “Can you say it again?” he asked.
“I love you, Tommy,” Buck said, no hesitation.
Tommy pulled Buck close, wrapping his arms around him tightly. “I love you too, Evan.”
Buck, feeling lighter and calmer than he’d felt in months, rested his head on Tommy’s shoulder. “Yeah?”
“Yeah. You want to come in now?”
“I’d love that.”

Third installment of the Love Language Miniseries
It might be OOC so please bear with me
Dedicated to the one who gave me this wonderful yet painful series idea @meitanteisachi!
-
Words of Affirmation- You get a thrill from receiving compliments and unexpected praise. You like it when others say they care about you or appreciate having you in their lives. You love feeling understood and receiving recognition for a job well done.
Shinichi trusts Ran a lot. But having a recent 'misunderstanding' along with being busy with his detective work and texting an apology yet receiving a slur of misspelled sentences with only the words 'Sonoko' and the name of a specific bar being decipherable, he can't help but worry and overthink.
(The name 'Kazuha' was readable as well and it did lessen his panic, but the reassurance he felt was nothing compared to Sonoko and her constant tricks that worsened when they became adults.)
Reaching the said bar on Rans' text message, he rushes inside and immediately dislikes the smell of mixed alcohols and smoke everywhere. Face indifferent, he passes through the dancing crowd and went straight to where he deduces his girlfriend to be.
Knowing Ran, she's not someone to go wild in such a tight place, nor does she appreciate the smell of cigarettes all over the dance floor. She would be somewhere comfortable and quiet enough to converse with Sonoko and Kazuha. Shinichi can't think of a better spot than the bartenders' counter.
And he was right.
There she was, in the middle of a familiar drinking blonde on her left and a brown haired woman on her right, reclined in her stool and mouthing words to her left side. Despite her back being the only thing he can see from where he's standing, he recognized it in an instant, having been familiar from the sight since childhood (her iconic hairstyle also helped).
Walking a little closer to be heard and putting his hands into his pockets, he calls out. "Ran."
The girls, save from the gulping heiress who ignores him, turns around and express the same visage upon seeing him. Rans' expression instantly change however, as her wide eyes and agape mouth closes and curls up into a smile.
"Shinichi!"
She stands up from her seat and walks over to him in an odd unbalanced manner. On a closer inspection, Shinichi noticed how her cheeks flushed a rather more healthy red than normal.
Raising an eyebrow, he opens his mouth to scold but his prepared reprimands die on his throat as Ran hugs him instead of just standing in front of him, her slender hands wrapped around his neck slowly, her feet tiptoeing as she concluded she wasn't tall enough to reach Shinichis' height.
He instinctively backs away from the unexpected warmth and weight, flustered and confused. Ran didn't even gave him the time to recover, leaning her head into the crook of his neck and sniffing it as he felt her sigh, successfully making his mind blank.
"You smell nice." she whispers, letting out a giggle as if entertained at her out of nowhere compliment while he stands there, frozen and left with no words to respond. Even after five years of being together, her effect on him stays consistent and powerful, similar to their first meeting.
Fortunately, he was brought out of his reverie by a familiar—not in a good way— smell of rum mixed into her natural sweet odor. From that, everything clicked. Her red face, wobbly walking and unexpected behavior finally made sense to him.
"You're drunk." he deduces as he looks down at his girlfriend who avoided eye contact by looking sideways and pouting, confirming her guilty.
"Sorry Kudo-kun," he redirects his gaze at the source of the voice, finding an apologetic Tooyama Kazuha. " We're the ones that invited her here and as you can see," her eyes went to Ran briefly before going back to him and continues sheepishly, "We kinda got carried away."
He expected the answer. After all, Ran rarely drinks, much less get drunk. She'd only really go all out when there's an important celebration or a really big problem, like a certain misunderstanding that may or may have not happened between the two of them.
"It's fine." he acquits as his eyes looks at anywhere but Kazuhas' green ones, unsure of how to ask. "Umm, did Ran told you anything concerning? Like if there's a huge problem or something?"
The Osakan woman's eyes widened and suspiciously travelled to Ran as if asking for permission, who in return tightened her grip around his neck to bring him down a little. Kazuha now seems to have an answer, glancing back at him.
"Nope, Ran-chan said nothing like that at all." with the way she puts up a tight lipped smile, it was obvious she was lying. "Besides, if there is an issue like that, why don't you ask her? I'm sure she'd tell you."
He wants to disagree, being aware of Rans' nature to he very considerate that she might dismiss the topic. But Shinichi really isn't fond of the idea of pressuring his bestfriends' girlfriend, so he didn't say anything. Besides, Kazuha was right, if there was anyone to ask about what is wrong, it would be his girlfriend.
"Yeah, you're right." he laughs and attempts to change the topic, not wanting to make the atmosphere awkward. "Anyways, it's pretty late. Want me to take you guys home?"
The brunette shakes her head and looks from behind. Shinichi follows her gaze, only to find Sonoko still on the counter and talking to someone on the phone. Her voice is so loud that it can mildly be heard from where they're standing.
"No thanks, it seems Sonoko-chan is already calling Makoto-kun to pick her up."
"It seems so," he now looks back to her. "How about you?"
"No need," she pulls out her phone, showing him her private chat with Hattori. "The ahou already texted he's on his way."
"And besides," Kazuha sends him a teasing look and an amused smile. "Even if we didn't have our boyfriends picking us up, you'll still get your hands full."
As if on cue, Shinichi was reminded of his girlfriend who's still clinging on to him, her constant breathing on his ear enough to make him go red, as if he's the one intoxicated.
He silently agrees to Kazuhas' statement.
-
Ran insists on walking home instead of getting a taxi. He protested but after being presented with the same adorable pleading look she always used on him back when he was Conan;wide eyes, pouty lips, and blushing cheeks, he was really left with no choice.
Now, they tread across the empty streets of Beika with the moon illuminating the area, Shinichi makes sure that his girlfriend doesn't trip from her quivering steps, choosing to carry her on his back, her arms hanging loosely around his neck while his hand secured on her thighs, assuring of no fall. The night serves peaceful, accompanied by a comfortable silence.
Until he decided to break it.
"Hey Ran--" he starts, wanting to ask her about the 'problem' he wasn't sure they're having, but was cut off by her instead.
"Ne, Shinichi?" her voice is a bit slurred but with his proximity, he heard it just fine. She seemed to have timed it when he decided to speak, deliberately avoid the questioning from him, concluding that something is wrong. He wanted to ignore her distraction and push further, but with Rans' current condition, he gives up and lets her get away.
"Hmm?"
"Did it hurt?" he stops walking in confusion at such a sudden question, prompting him to face her as she wears an innocent smile.
"What hurt?" he asks, not getting the point. It took him a few seconds to catch on to what her 'innocent smile' and question means, and he isn't exactly happy at the conclusion he got.
"Please no," he exclaims as she looks at him expectantly, really wanting to continue. he complains. "Isn't this supposed to be the other way around?"
A glare is all it took for him to know she's not giving up. However, Shinichi isn't going to comply so easily either.
"Let me guess, when I fell from heaven?" he teases her, ahead of the supposed pick up line she's about to say.
Instead of being angry however, Rans' smile widens more than before, not looking as innocent. "No."
Eyebrows furrowing in confusion he asks, "What?"
"When you fell for me."
He stares in disbelief. He had never expected such a cheesy pick up line to be even more cheesier than it already is and it honestly impresses him(in a bad way). Meanwhile, Ran looks way too proud of herself, a huge grin plastered on her face.
"Okay, you win." he states rather dejectedly and continues walking, wishing his surrender to be the end of her drunk flirting.
If he were to be completely honest, Shinichi somewhat expected Ran to do something crazy and uncharacteristic, since it isn't the first time for her to be this intoxicated. The last time, she sang random songs with the most intangible lyrics he had ever heard, her drunk singing voice comparable to his normal one. This time it's the same, only now it's sappy pick up lines instead of crappy lyrics( he isn't sure which one is worse).
"Shinichi," she starts again, and it was cue for Shinichi to pick up his pace to get home faster, and he did. But Ran is stubborn. She calls his name on repeat way too many times, that he has to stop and finally decides to listen.
"Alright, let's hear it and quickly take you home to your apartment because I'm already tired of this." he yields, defeated and weary. On the other hand, Rans' expression is the complete opposite, too cheerful and energetic like neon lights on a dark room.
"You know why you're tired?"
"Yeah because of your pick up--"
"Because you've been running through my mind all day long." she breaks into a laugh as he stops functioning, wondering how his girlfriend can be so witty and stupid at the same time whenever she drinks a lot more than usual.
He ponders if Kaito has something to do it. After all, there is no one better and worse at flirting with words than he is. Rans' are tolerable but maybe it's because he loves her so much that he does appreciate them, but they're still pretty bad.
He deadpans at her still cackling form just to express his emotions. "You know, other people will call you an idiot if they know you're doing this."
She pauses, her turn to be confused. "Just other people? What will you call me then?"
"My idiot who's doing this."
Her reaction is instantaneous. Her face blossomed a shade of crimson as she coughs, too taken aback while he tilts inwards, smirking at having to get back at her antics.
"That's not fair!" she whines, throwing daggers at him as she cough a little more.
"You started it." he yawns, the night catching on to him.
He really thought it was the end of it, but Ran always proves him wrong as she started once again. "Yeah, being good looking must be sooo tiring."
He really is impressed at how her mind can processed a mundane action and turn into a bad and cheesy pick up line. But he didn't become friends with the worst flirt in the world for nothing. Clearly not accepting defeat, he decides to play along. "Then you must be exhausted."
Her face turns into a blushing mess either from embarrassment or frustration or maybe even from both.
"Shinichi!"
And that's what they did until they got home. He truly was worried that there was something bothering Ran, but from the way she conversed and flirted with him(even though he's sure it's the alcohol talking), he was confident that if there was a problem, it isn't as bad as he expects it to be.
-
After an hour of throwing trashy jokes at each other, they finally made it to her apartment. He grabs the key he got from her earlier and opens the door, going straight to the sofa to put down his girlfriend.
Ran looks tired, eyes constantly blinking as she takes off her shoes, slower than it's supposed to be. She flops down on the couch, ready to doze off. Making sure she won't fall off, he strides into the kitchen to get some water.
Going back in the living room with a glass, he now finds her sitting instead of her laid down position a minute ago. She's dazed, eyes dead set on the table across as her brows intensely furrow as if trying to figure something out.
"Here you go," he sits down beside her, offering the water. He watches her drink it languidly, attentive to her every move. After finishing and putting it back on the table with a thud, Ran stands up, a hand on her throat.
"What's wrong?" he asks as the panic becomes visible on her visage, eyes roaming everywhere.
"I think I'm gonna throw up," as if on signal, she makes a strained sound while Shinichi rushes her inside the bathroom, certain that Ran won't appreciate walking into her living room with vomit all around it.
Upon reaching the toilet, Shinichi lets her bend over it and finally lets out everything she ate and drank that day as he soothes her back, stroking it back and forth. He also holds her hair up just make sure it doesn't get in the way.
"Are you okay?" he tilts his head in confusion as she turns around now done with her task, eyes watering slightly.
"I'm hungry." he sighs, having predicted it. He isn't the best at cooking, but letting his girl cook for herself while still being a bit visually impaired and losing her self balance every now and then sounds like the worst decision he can make in this situation.
"Fine. I'll make you something." hearing such words, Ran wipes her tears and beams at him. He leads her out of the restroom, leaving her on the couch and heading to the kitchen to cook at least a soup just to quench her hunger.
A few minutes passed and he comes back to a yawning Ran, with a hot and steamy soup laying in his hands. She offers him a drowsy smile, and he gives a knowing one in return.
"Here," he places the bowl on the table in front her and Ran takes it leisurely. She takes a chunk of food and blows at it, in the hopes of lessening the heat. Satisfied, she puts it on her mouth and makes a noise, glancing at him.
"It tastes good!" he chuckles and shakes his head in disapproval. "Thanks but, I'm pretty sure it only taste like that because you're drunk."
He leans in the wall as he watches her consume the soup with gusto, making his heart swell. When Ran finally eats half of it, he speaks out.
"Seriously, what made you drink so much like that?" despite the high chance that she won't answer, he still gives it a try.
After hearing no response, the detective sighs and looks away, deciding to let it slide and thinks that he'll just try again tomorrow.
But it looks like that he doesn't have to.
"It's Shinichi's fault." she said it so casually and quietly, but it didn't get pass his ears. Shock at the fact that she replied and at the specific retort, he looks back and stares at her.
"Eh?"
"It was Sonoko's little dare," she finishes the rest of the food without care and continues, "She told me how you're always so indifferent and said to make you blush or whatever. But, you you were so busy with the case that I didn't even had the chance and just gave up."
He was left dumbfounded. The events three days ago went back to him in a flash. All of Ran's little glances, her stuttering words, and even her hold on him before he left after taking her home finally made sense.
'That Sonoko!' he twitches his eyebrow in annoyance. He really should've seen that coming. If there was anyone this world who could think such an idea, it would be none other than their childhood friend.
He attempts to talk, but she beats him to it.
"But, now that I think about it, I really dont mind Shinichi being busy like that," she's now looking at him, a smile plastered on her blushing face, sign of still being under the influence of the alcohol. "After all, I really love Shinichi's face whenever he solves a case. Shinichi's eyes always lights up, like it's alive and burning. As if seeing a world no one else knows."
"Whenever Shinichi solves a case, he helps a lot of people. And it's amazing to know, that tons of people are alive right now—because of Shinichi." she rambles on, calling his name too many times as if she's only talking to herself, like he isn't standing right there at all to listen.
Her voice, despite being slurred holds honesty in them that didn't make the current condition of his heart any better as he's hearing her compliment him.
"I guess that just means, that I really love Shinichi." she laughs at her own words, finding such a revelation amusing.
Meanwhile, Shinichi stands there having only two things in his mind; that Ran is really drunk, and that he's just glad the dare is over. Because if it wasn't, with the way he feels his face burning right now, he was sure Ran would've absolutely won it.
#dcmk#Sorry if it's a little OOC#I love writing drunk Ran#Shinran#3/5#the next update might take a decade#I have to use all of those pick up line prompts somehow

I'm here - Edmund Pevensie x reader (Chapter 7)
Hiii!! And I'm back once again! So I thought I'd end this book by chapter 10. Don't want to keep it too long too. I hope you guys enjoy reading this chapter ❤️ thank you for all the support! Appreciate it a lot <3
Y/n's Pov
Waking up in the morning, I felt my heart leap with joy. I'm finally going home! It's going to be a while to actually find my way back, but I'm sure I'll find it.
Though... there was that one thing that came shooting back into my head.
The previous night I went to bed rather confused. Edmund and I hadn't exchanged our usual good nights. Instead, he left the room as soon as he was done with dinner.
Maybe he hates me.
Oh how I hope that's not what it is.
Just thinking of it pained me.. for the first time, I was genuinely happy meeting good friends. I forgot all about my bullies and the tough times I had at school. And Edmund.. I felt like I could finally be myself, and that was all because of him.
Truth is.. I fell for him.
I wish I could tell him that, but either way I'm afraid. I don't want to ruin what we have right now. But a part of me wants him to know how I truly feel.
Suddenly I remembered the little smile he gave me before he sat down for dinner.
Flashback to the night before
"What's taking them so long?" Lucy furrowed her eyes curiously.
Susan shrugged.
All that was running in my head was if Edmund was okay. I left him hanging there. Without even asking if he wanted to talk about it. I ran a hand through my hair letting out a sigh of frustration.
Lucy looked at me worriedly, "y/n? Is everything alright?"
Smiling at her reassuringly I replied, "yeah, yeah Lucy.. I'm okay.."
Suddenly Peter came running in laughing.
"PETER!" I heard Edmund shout, coming in right after him. The two letting out strings of laughter.
Lucy and Susan exchanged confused glances, "what took you two so long?" Susan glanced back and forth between them.
"Oh nothing..." Peter sent a wink in Edmund's direction to which Edmund returned a rather disgusted look.
Taking their seats, Edmund gave me a soft smile and sat right in front of me.
I guess he's okay?...
And we proceeded on with dinner.
End of flashback.
Just picturing his smile gave me butterflies, even though I wasn't sure what he hid behind it.
I really hope he'd visit me when I go back. I'll miss being under the same roof with him of course. My thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a knock on the door.
I got up. Adjusting my clothes, I went up to the door. Opening it to reveal Susan, "Good morning y/n!"
"Good morning Su!"
"Big day huh?" she grinned at me, to which I returned a shy nod. She let out a hearty laugh in response, "well, go wash up.. breakfast will be ready in a bit."
I smiled at her, "okay Su.." I watched her close the door behind her, only soon after to hear someone knock once again.
Opening the door I was greeted by.. oh here comes the butterflies.
Edmund.
For a second I felt like time stopped. Ahhh. What is he doing to me?
My cheeks began to heat up. This was not anything new of course. He always had this way.. to make me blush by just the littlest things he did.
I began to observe every little detail. His dark brown hair, wet and slightly tousled. He was wearing a striped blue and white shirt, clad in blue jeans. His lips soft and a peachy pink. A soft smile delivered from them.
Getting captivated by his chocolate brown eyes, I smiled unknowingly.
Edmund broke the silence clearing his throat, "y/n?"
"Hmm? Yeah?" I replied, still stuck admiring him, in my own little world.
"Like what you see?" he smirked.
I snapped out of my thoughts. Did I hear that right? He was smirking, and that was not making things any better honestly. I let out a nervous laugh, averting my eyes, "umm y-yeah I mean no! I mean no, yes ah... you I.."
God why was I stammering so much?! There was nothing I wanted at that moment, more than to just go back to admiring him. I felt the blood rush upto my cheeks.
He chuckled, "good morning y/n."
I stood there for a second processing what he said, "oh yeah, g-good morning Ed.." he laughed. My smile dropped a little. Why was he acting like this?
This didn't go unnoticed by Edmund, "is something the matter?"
This is your chance, ask him y/n.
"Hmm? Y/n?"
"I-I thought you were mad at me.." I whispered but it was enough for him to hear.
"Why would I be mad at you?"
"Umm.."
"Well?" he raised an eyebrow.
I took a breath and began to ramble, "I just... Iwantedtotalktoyoulastnightbutyouleftsoonwithoutsayi-
He took my hands in his chuckling, "slow down love."
Looking at our latched hands, I couldn't stop the little smile forming on my face, "I'm sorry.. should-should I repeat that?"
He shook his head, "I know.. I'm sorry for leaving abruptly like that. I just, I had a lot in my head at that moment." Letting go of one of my hands he placed a hand on my cheek ever so gently, "I wasn't mad at you love.."
A sense of relief washed over me. Suddenly I felt a stinging pain on my cheek.
"Ouch! ED!!" I whined, he squeezed my cheek. He burst out laughing and I could only pout at him in response.
Soon enough his laughter was replaced by a smile. The smile that I absolutely adored. He stood there, staring at me.
"What is it Ed?" I stiffled a laugh.
No response. He just stood there, with a smile still plastered on his face. For a second I forgot that he had a hand on my cheek until I felt the other come up in result, cupping my face.
"Umm Ed? A-a-are you?" my throat began to feel awfully dry. Clearing my throat I tried again, "are you okay?"
He came a little closer to me.
I wanted to back away, but my body kept refusing to move. So I stood there, literally stuck in that position.
"Y/n I..." he gently bit his lip, eyes fluttering down to my lips for a millisecond and back to my eyes. He leaned in a little closer.
I felt like I could melt at the close proximity. Wanting to close the space between us, I leaned in too. Our lips just inches apart.
My eyes fluttered close.
That was it.
In just a matter of seconds, his lips were brushing against mine. I felt like a million fireworks just got lit up inside of me. Sparks of electricity, I felt like I was on cloud 9. It was like a dream come true.
His hand moving behind my head to push me closer, deepening the kiss.
"Ed, Peter's calli-" I heard a familiar voice, her words stopping halfway only to let out a squeal right after.
We pulled apart at once, looking everywhere but at eachother. I looked at him from the corner of my eyes and he looked so flustered. Me being on the same page as him.
Lucy stood there wide eyed with a huge grin on her face.
"What was that Lucy? Peter called? Oh yeah okay!!" Edmund ran out of the room in just the blink of an eye.
I was blushing furiously. My fingers touching my lips unconsciously. I missed the feeling already. Lucy ran upto me squealing, pulling me into a hug, "oh my gosh y/n!!! I KNEW IT! YOU BOTH LIKE EACHOTHER!"
Laughing I hugged her back. Her enthusiasm was just so adorable.
"I'm soo happy for you both!!" she pulled away from me, eyes literally sparkling with joy. "Are you both like.. a thing now?"
"Umm well honestly, I-I'm not sure Lu.."
Her smiled faltered, "what do you mean you don't know?"
"Well everything just happened so fast."
"You didn't confess your feelings?"
I stood there in silence for a while, "no.."
She intertwined our hands together, "well, he'll have to after that." she widened her eyes kind of in a look of realisation. "Oh no! It's probably my fault.. I'm sorry for walking in like that.."
"No, no Lu! Of course it's not because of you," I gave her a reassuring smile which she glady returned.
"Well, I must say you're lucky.." I tilted my head at her in confusion. "Ed doesn't really express his feelings like that at once. The fact that he's more positive when he's around you is just.. it's amazing. I can tell he likes you a lot."
"R-really? You think so?"
"I know so! And you should be knowing that by now too. Especially after what happened just now," she giggled.
I turned away blushing.
"Come on, let's go get breakfast!"
Edmund's Pov
"I kissed her."
"YOU WHAT?!" Peter looked at me with a mixture of shock and amusement.
"I-I-ah she must be hating me now!" I ruffled my hair furiously.
"Of course not Ed..." Susan said rather calmly. She was surprised at first but claimed that she 'saw it coming'. Except not me kissing her like that. "If it's anything, I sure she's just as happy as you right now.."
"I don't know what came over me.. I couldn't hold back. I just.."
She was there.. she looked so adorable all flustered. Her lips looked so plushy I just couldn't resist. I really wanted her to know how I felt, being too shy to actually tell her how I feel.
As if reading my thoughts Peter spoke up, "you wanted to show her how you feel.."
I glanced at him immediately. He wiggled his eyebrows at me. "You love her," he said rather cheekily.
Trying to give him a nasty look, I failed. I just couldn't stop smiling at the thought of hearing her say she feels the same.
"Well, now that she knows something about how you feel.. you should confess to her before we take her home.." Susan said looking up from her book.
"You think she'll say yes?" my thoughts flooding with multiple possibilities.
"Why wouldn't she?"
"She didn't pull away did she?" Peter laughed. I just groaned shaking my head, covering my face in embarrassment.
"Well, if she didn't.. that's a good sign." I felt a hand on my shoulder. Looking up to see Peter smiling at me, "trust me, she likes you.. I'm pretty sure everyone in this house knows that by now." Well that was.. reassuring.
Though obviously Lucy saw it with her own eyes.
"Bold of you to make that move though."
"And what's that supposed to mean?" I frowned at him. Susan stiffled a laugh while Peter shrugged giving me a goofy grin.
"Ughhh..." I looked away. Smiling to myself, I touched my lips. That was amazing.

Just saw this again, so
.....
Marinette gazed blankly into the rising mist, letting her thoughts wander as the rain poured over the edge of the awning. Her midnight hair was slightly damp, weighing her pigtails down on her nape and keeping her pleasantly distracted from the guy stood right behind her.
She wasn't alone in her temporary respite from the looming threat of being drenched.
He sighed, his warm breath tickling the side of her head as he muttered, "I wonder if they'd deliver pizza here."
Marinette turned her head as much as she dared when in such close proximity to a stranger. It was just enough for her to see him from the corner of her eye, her bright blues staring into his soothing browns.
"You think they would if we asked?" Unbidden, her eyes tracked a drop of water as it slid from the bill of his red cap, falling over the edge to splash on the headphones that hung around his neck.
He shrugged, the strap of his bag shifting slightly on his shoulder as he did so, and she thought about her own bag which hung between them, keeping her most recent art project safe from the downpour.
"I'd try, but my phone is dead." She admitted, turning back to look into the sodden street again.
"I'll try. Do you have a preferred pizza place? I think I have enough points for a freebie from Leaning Tower of Pizza."
Marinette gave a quizzical hum, "You actually eat from there? Lavillant's Pizzeria is way better."
The man chuckled, "My best friend insisted on Leaning Tower. He says it's worth it for the pun."
"Your best friend has an awful sense of humor."
"Yeah. But free pizza?"
"Yeah, okay. Thanks."
And so they stood there, waiting amidst the mist for a pizza.
"I'm Nino, by the way."
His breath carressed her temple again, and Marinette flinched at the way it tickled, "Huh? Oh. Um. Marinette." She half-turned and awkwardly brought a hand between them, trying both to keep it dry and not completely invade his personal space.
Not that either of them had much under the small shelter.
Nino grinned and grabbed her hand for a quick shake, trying to ignore the heat seeping into his cheeks.
"I think we actually share a class." Marinette continued, shoving her hand into her jacket pocket as soon as he let go and refusing to look him in the eye again. "You have Dr. Mendeleiev's Tuesday-Thursday 10 AM, right?"
"Oh yeah!" Nino said, snapping a finger, "You're the girl that spilled some acetone and nearly burnt down her station a few weeks ago."
Marinette emitted a low whine, setting her face in her palms as her cheeks ignited like the table had. "Yeah. That was me."
Nino tried to stifle his grin as he watched her shuffle. Adorable. "You know, I was thinking we had chemistry." As soon as the words left his mouth, his eyes widened and he thought to himself, 'Adrien, you've corrupted me.' But thoughts of his best friend and roommate quickly left him when Marinette's head shot up, nearly smacking him in the nose, and her wide eyes met his again.
"W-what?" She laughed. "That was so cheesy."
Nino had to agree, and thought briefly about stepping out and drowning himself in a rain puddle. Luckily, the pizza car drove up right then, window rolling down and the transaction tak8ng place right there beneath the awning.
"I can tip, since you paid." Marinette said, already handing a few notes to the driver.
Nino dutifully took the pizza, keeping it out of the rain as she bid the driver farewell.
It was delicious.
"It's even cheesier than your pick-up line." She teased before moaning through a slice of pepperoni.
"If you want cheesy," he started. He was about to say, 'you should smell my dorm.' But thought better of it. That'd have been weird, right. "Um. Hm." He finished lamely.
She nudged him with her shoulder, silently asking him to continue, but then she took the initiative before he could respond.
"I like cheesy. Maybe you should be cheesy again sometime?"
Nino blinked, processing her words as his eyes glued themselves to a speck of pizza sauce that had gotten itself stuck to her chin just below her lip.
"Uh, yeah."
"Are you free after chem this Thursday?"
Nino jolted, "Oh, totally. I'll be there."
Marinette gave him a sweet smile as she reached up to brush the sauce off her face with the back of her hand, "Great." And Nino found himself utterly entranced.
The world quieted as they locked their gazes, and like poetry, the sun peeked through the clouds, bathing the world around them in a light that sparkled like gold.
Or like greasy cheese, I guess.
