I realized I never explained this on the finished object post, just on the wip post, but this quilt top is made from old jeans (mostly mine, some of my brother's) that had too many holes in them to be functional as jeans anymore*, plus some jeans legs that had been cut off to make jean shorts. I learned to quilt in 2020 but had limited fabric so I worked with what I had and made this quilt top, but then didn't get around to quilting it until last week *yes I know how to patch and reinforce jeans now, but I didn't at the time
The lumberjack quilt is complete! It is very heavy and very cozy
#sewing#handmade#quilting#lumberjack quilt#denim quilt#some of the jeans really were too worn out to be jeans anymore#like. patch all you want but at some point you're ship of theseusing those jeans#I wasn't exactly hard on my clothes growing up but I did not grow very fast#so by the time I outgrew jeans they were usually worn very thin#okay one caveat: I don't think I've owned a single pair of jeans that I did not wear holes into the knees of#but I was very clumsy as a kid and fell down a lot#and as an adult I tend to move weird? and I worked with toddlers for years#so it was a lot of crawling around on the ground after little kids or like diving to catch a kid who was falling#stuff like that. also one time I vaporized a square inch of the knee of my jeans catching a dog#but I did catch the dog before he got into the street! that's not relevant to this quilt it's just a strong memory lol
