guys i think i figured it out, the usamericans who bought the majority of vasco and who decide the purchases don't actually keep up with brazilian football so they think santos fc is the santos fc of neymar or pelé and that's why they spent all of vasco's money buying players from a club that was doing worse than them (until vasco did worse than santos cause, yeah if you start playing with the players they don't consider good enough to play that might happen) like that's gotta be it
