when i read your posts about the french election ('it's gonna be fine, the chance that the guy will win with however much %') .. i am scarily reminded of the US election. i was SO sure that clinton would win, her predictions were always so much higher, even on the moring of the election. so i am truly not comfortable to even think it's gonna be ok. i'm not french (but european) and i BEG whoever reads this who can vote to go vote. don't feel safe with any prognosis, don't make the same mistakes!
lol, “it’s going to be fine” is really a coping strategy.
It’s very easy to compare to everything with Trump and Brexit, it’s done with everything but we must stop doing that and I’ll tell you why;
Trump & Brexit are not synonymous. Different results, reasonings and implications. Some may cross over but they’re not the same thing. Who’s to argue which is worse.
We have to stop giving Trump credit for the rise of the far right. It dismisses the notion that Europe hasn’t always been full of racism. In the past 10-15 years we’ve seen a strong rise in far right groups waaay before Trump and if we keep giving Trump credit, we’re ignoring the issues in Europe that have always been there.
The rise of the far right does not necessarily mean they’re going to win. Where are UKIP now? The Dutch group got beaten in the elections and with hope Le Pen and Germany’s group later this year will too. - still, do not ignore these groups. They’re in the public eye now and they’re not going away. Still creating fear.
France is a very different situation to America. Again, may seem similar on the front but it is very different.The worries in Paris/France about terrorism are very real and not altogether irrational which could be a  swing towards Le Pen. However, France really relies on the EU and the Euro and that’s a major swing towards Macron. It’s really anybody’s game. But I’d say Macron has the edge.
Nobody should look at the polls. Polls are rarely right. Why am I confident for Macron? Because the chances are he’s going to gain the votes from the left candidate and as he’s “centrist” most of the moderate right too. It makes sense but perhaps only to me and perhaps I’m completely wrong.
But no, you are of course correct, nobody should take anything as a guarantee and people must vote to secure their future.
[also; should be mentioned, I am not French so maybe I have no clue what I’m talking about, lol. I’m basing this off news feed and perhaps it’s bias.]
