im just here to share my thoughts (im just mr yapper atp)...... not a request ...just me rambling about these two (get them out of my head) (please dont) (actually let them stay longer)

something i find rather cute from both soshiro and hyoga is the fact that both of them are pretty much touch starved but they wouldn't realize it until they get that attention and when they get it they both will probably melt into the other person's touch without even realizing ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️

and hyoga particularly will probably try to avoid being touched in any form because he's very reserved but to me hes just like a cat yknow like he wants you to pet him but he doesnt want to show how much hes enjoying it and thats such a cute thing in my head okay..... hes just......... a big cat....... cries and sobs. like imagine him just getting almost close to cuddling if not fully cuddling with his s/o, after getting used to them, without even realizing

AND SOSHIRO OH MY GOD imagine him in the same scenario.... that just breaks my heart💔💔💔 like he probably won't even sleep just to feel himself hugging their s/o and sharing that warmth because he has never been this close to someone else before 💔💔💔💔💔💔 IMAGINE HIS S/O HUGS HIM BACK NOOOOO tears rolling down my face ..thatd be like the end of him like he would def melt and id die 💔💔💔💔

and both of them surely care a lot about their partner like they probably dont even say it out loud but they'd be around their s/o a lot and they would make sure they aren't hurt or anything n they would most surely be very worried about their partner if they ever got hurt LIKE DO YOU UNDERSTAND .......THEY CARE.... THEY CARE SM BUT THEY DONT KNOW HOW TO EXPRESS IT BECAUSE THE OPPORTUNITY WAS NEVER THERE AND THEY WERE SO IMMERSED IN THEIR TRAINING IT NEVER CROSSED THEIR MIND ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️ falls down on my knees and cries very loudly

but youre so correct i love the fact that they just CARE SO MUCH i think it is my favourite part about hyoga though... it's a little more obvious in hoshina i find but HYOGA...... making things with the pure intention to just create, no matter how bad the end product may be, is one of the most therapeutic things you can do for yourself.

this year, i started bookbinding. and yeah, my first book wasn’t the greatest. and yeah, all i have are cheap supplies and sometimes the end product isn’t exactly how i wanted it to turn out, but holding a finished book in my hands and feeling the thrill of i made this, i made this myself and there is nothing in the world that is exactly the same as this end product is one of the reasons im still living.

so go out and create, not with the intention to give it to anyone, or to sell it, or to display it online. just create for creation’s sake. embroider your hoodies, paint shitty doodles on your notebooks and phone cover. sow together little plushies out of scrap fabric. make music out of ambient noise to listen to during quiet moments.

and maybe you’ll learn something about your craft, and maybe you’ll learn something about yourself. maybe the embroidery doesn’t work out, but you learn that you really like tying knots and making jewelry out of them. maybe fabric’s too flimsy for your liking, but you love making clay pottery. maybe you’ll keep your first plushie, and look back on it years later thinking “how much i’ve grown”

my first book vs. the newest one, made almost a year after the first. the first has maybe 30 pages, bound in cheap flimsy cardboard and is extremely warped from tea staining. my most recent has a little over 300 pages and is bound in faux leather and thick cardboard.

1: …show without talking about the relationship between between Stede and Blackbeard, and how, Rhys, you and Taika bring that to life. What was something that the two of you tried to bring to that dynamic that maybe wasn't in the script?

2: DARBY: I think we tried to bring our own friendship. Even though we've been friends for 15-plus years, we haven't really spent so much time together that we have been able to nail down what it is about each other that we really like about each other, and so we were discovering that through these characters as well. We discovered why we are such good friends. Well, we have very similar backgrounds. Not that these two characters have similar backgrounds, but we love the same things, and we connect because we're both kind of lost souls in real life and just the same as these characters are in their life, so there's this weird connection. We shouldn't really connect as well as we do, for whatever reason - particularly with the characters, because one's a badass who kills, and the other guy's literally the opposite, but there's something that meets in the middle, that little piece of magic that we wanted to discover.

3: JENKINS: It felt like that in shooting it, too. I didn't know. I mean, now it makes sense, you had your whole friendship journey through this in real life. Seeing you come together on set, the first scene you played together, you could feel it. It was just like silk. It was like, "Oh, they know each other," and that comes through. You could feel it not even looking at the monitor when they were shooting it. You could just hear it.

4: "They are like an old married couple in certain ways," showrunner David Jenkins told EW, speaking about the relationship between Darby and Waititi. "If a scene isn't quite working, Taika will be able to grumble about Rhys, and vice versa, in the way that only friends can. And then when it is popping, they know how to get the best out of each other. There's a generosity and a real sweetness between them that you wouldn't get if you weren't using those two friends.”

5: "I looked at myself and how much experience I've had over the years and I felt maybe it is time to step up," Darby said. "It was scary but having Taika there made it easier to do. We're in this together and if he wasn't there l'd probably track him down and call him to help me."

6: When it came to casting the perfect Stede Bonnet, the Jojo Rabbit director said Darby's name came up multiple times in conversations about who could helm the ship. Darby, known for playing desperate music manager Murray in Flight of the Conchords and werewolf pack leader Anton in the original What We Do in the Shadows film, seemed like a good fit.

"Rhys is so good in that managerial position," Waititi added. "You're so good at delegating people and at running a group of people. It's a perfect role for him.”

7: Then, eventually, I got contacted by David and he said he'd like to see me on tape because he's auditioned a lot of people. I was very surprised it was for the lead character. Normally I don't do leads - I normally turn up in the cast down the [call sheet] numbers quite a bit, the guy that makes everything funny when things start to get a bit of the yawn side - I'm that guy. They're throwing me into pictures, movies, whatever. I lighten things up.

I've loved that for a long time; I always love being the funny guy, but I am getting on a bit and it's probably about time I take the lead on something, so it kind of made sense. I do love the craft of the thing that's all of my stand-up and my comedy has led to the dream of being a comedy actor. I'm there now, so now it's time to stand up and do more work.

8: I felt, "Alright, I'll put myself on tape for this lead," and he kind of already knew that I was what he wanted, Taika said, "Just reach out to him," and he was happy with what I sent through. I guess it just kind of collects, because this character I could relate to. Not that I've got everything and I'm a healthy landowner that wants to leave my wife and kids, but the idea of middle-aged escapism, which Taika and I both discussed, is a funny thing because we're both kind of middle-aged like Stede.

9: So you heard about the possibility of the role and put yourself on tape - of course, you already know Taika. Did you talk to him in advance of putting yourself on tape for the role?

I think that I waited until David Jenkins contacted me and then I contacted Taika and I said, "It looks like I'm in the running for this piece. Is there anything you think I should do to make sure I get this?" It felt like it was just something HBO needed, was to have me on tape. They knew who I was many years ago over a decade ago, when I was on Flight of the Conchords - but I'm sure they've had a staff change, and now they're like, "Who is this guy?" [Laughs] "Remember me? I was really funny in the late nineties!"

10: I just wanted to confirm with him - is there anything else I can do? He just said, "No, he wants you, just be yourself and do what you do because I think this character- you embody him." It's hard to describe, but you'll see it when you see the show. I guess it's something that I've got that I can do whereby I have empathy for the person I betray even though he'd done really bad things. You still feel for him because there's an innocence to his character, and as the show unfolds, you see why he left his wife and kids and what his whole situation was. He didn't know who he was until he kind of found it.
