i've tried to put this in the tags, but it's not really working, so you all must hear my theories:
i 100% agree that they are all the gay one! however, i do have to mention that their debut record was noticably gayer than their other three albums.
off of the album "the smiths", i would interpret the songs reel around the fountain, pretty girls make graves, this charming man, hand in glove as being gay-coded, with the song "what difference does it make" possibly being about a coming out experience. this would make 5/11 songs "gay ones", the album being 45% gay.
on "meat is murder", there are actually only two songs i'm relatively certain are gay on purpose (i want the one i can't have, what she said). "well i wonder" could be about any type of relationship, honestly.
on "the queen is dead", there are some songs that were certainly influenced by morrissey's sexuality (he has called himself bisexual, as well as "humansexual"), but i wouldn't really say any is referencing the gay community or a gay relationship specifically in a way that most listeners would notice.
on "strangeways, here we come", things get complicated: we don't know if the "glenn" that is talked about is a love interest or a rival of the narrator. i do have to point out the high probability of "i won't share you" being written about johnny, but there's also a chance that "i know it's over" is about him.
ok yall please don't take this too seriously, and don't be afraid to share some of your own opinions on what the gayest smiths album is with me :)
Guy friend I have won’t listen to the “meat is murder” album because it’s “the gay one” THEYRE ALL THE GAY ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
