On the subject of sex, I wanted to talk real quick about how a romanced Solas would’ve addressed not having sex with the Inquisitor.
First, I’ve seen people interpret his “I would not lay with you under false pretenses” differently, but I have never read it as anything other than literal. Trespasser is the one (1) time he is being 100% upfront. Why would he obfuscate on something that important? It makes the most sense for his character that he did not have sex with the Inquisitor. Why would he sleep with you if he’s lying about himself, his goal, his role in the current predicament, the mark? That’s anathema to his whole thing about freedom of choice/being/etc.
It is a bit contradictory to his "I am grim and fatalistic. Getting you into bed is an enjoyable side benefit." I take that line as prospective rather than him literally saying "yeah the fucking's been great".
To the main event, I think he’d be as up front as possible once the romance started heating up. He’d say that he has personal things to work through that prevent that level of physical intimacy. It's pretty consistent with his 'We shouldn't, not even here...it would be kinder in the long run...' If accepted, great. If not, that’s not someone he’d want to romance anyway. Any attempt to revisit that conversation will result in the same answer, and any attempt to pressure him is gonna end the romance.
#oh 'grim and fatalistic' line you will always be famous#headcanons#my touchstone for a romanced solas is just 'what would an experienced adult do in this situation' lol
