bc ren plays piano, i thought about the possibility of he and makiko having known each other when they were kids! though she didn't stick with it bc of the increasing pressure from her parents to be " the best, " she did love it and took lessons for a while, so maybe they met during lessons or recitals! and maybe they kept in contact, or maybe they lost touch and meet again later -- either way, i think it would be neat to explore the different paths they end up taking. plus who doesn't want a pal who will cook them their favorite comfort meal when they've had a hard day?? and oh!! her mom is a retired cellist, so!! say ren ever wants to get back into piano... makiko will definitely get her mom to pull strings so he can have opportunities to play!

for ren's kny verse, i have my metal hashira, miss tamako, who i think would maybe make a good sparring/training partner since both of their techniques rely a bit on watching for opportune moments to strike. depending on the timeline of ren's verse, they could possibly be from the same round final selection, if you wanted!

if you also enjoy giving ren headaches to handle, i recommend hyouka bc she'll hear he's got a unique technique and light up!! start pestering him to show her and teach her some moves!! she's annoying but lovable i swear :' )) i think everyone deserves an annoying lil sister <3 ooh and once again, depending on his timeline, he could possibly be the slayer that saves hyouka and satsuki from the demon that killed their family, if that's your cup of tea! could maybe be one of his first missions?
