Listen, I will always adore romantic jarthur, but John's jealousy arc in Season 4 hits so hard because Arthur and John's relationship is meant to be platonic. John and Arthur are toxic platonic codependency representation ultra, and I don't think I'll ever get over it. They are both feeding into this dynamic, of course, but there is something so cathartic about John's jealousy, specifically. It starts with little hints that quickly become louder and more persistent as the season progresses. John begging Arthur not to tell anyone about him. John demanding that Arthur push away anyone who tries get close to them. John subtly sabotaging things just to spend a little more time with Arthur. It's all leading to Part 37, the climax of how far John is willing to let his jealousy take him. NOTHING will ever perfectly encapsulate the all-consuming jealousy someone can feel in a toxic friendship than when John tries to kill Oscar because Oscar *checks notes* wants to be Arthur's friend. Peak platonic possessiveness.
