the internet's incapability of being nuanced will never cease to amaze me tbh. the initial criticism for blake and her approach to DV in the movie was valid, but it very quickly snowballed into people just dogpiling on her for literally anything and everything. i can only imagine it gets even worse with this lawsuit incoming.

agreed, i think there's a really good chance things get worse/uglier before they get better. and i think that criticism was valid, but overblown, just given the tone of the book. similarly, people were dogpiling her for being a jerk, and i don't condone treating interviewers badly, but people were just obviously salivating to hate on her - and here was an apparently orchestrated campaign to encourage people to do that harder. i remember some people even questioning it, after we knew baldoni had hired depp's pr crisis team, suggesting that this suddenly change in press felt manipulated. at the time i even mentioned that all the evidence against blake was just speculation and really just seemed regurgitated with little factual info. something about it was so OBVIOUS.

Of course not, what made you believe that ????. But saying things like "oh look at me ive been abused by a woman and i can be totally normal towards women unlike you, you misogynistic freak". I mean, come on. Are we only accepting DV survivors who survive a certain way?

And I'm not saying that being an abuse victim gives you a free pass to be a jerk to everyone, there are many people who use their past as an abuse victim as an excuse for their behavior. And obviously, i don't condone this.

What I'm saying is hating the group that your abuser is associated with is a normal reaction, it might not be the most logical but I can understand it.

And honestly, this abuse survivors olympics of "look i survived better than you" Is just weird and really cruel.

reacting to the woman hating anon: I am an actual victim of female on female abuse (and my father was abused by my mother as well), and it has not destroyed my ability to feel solidarity with women and be a feminist. That’s just a skill issue.
