spotify will bend over backwards to call any kind of rock or metal that doesnt quite fit any other label "alt rock" and it makes me want to chew glass
#☀️#o'brother and loathe aren't alt rock you dense motherfuckers#loathe is quite literally progressive metal#o'brother is a weird one but if you were going to use ANY all encompassing genre for them itd be shoegaze not alt rock#i'd say the most accurate term for them would probably be dreamo as much as i think its a dumb genre name#sorry. not to be a music snob. i just think anyone who classifies everything as alt rock should die#like starset. starset is thrown in with all the other alt rock shit but ranges wildly from symphonic metal to progressive rock to synth roc#its far too broad of a term to be considered a genre and i hate it so much.#stop calling everything alternative because you're too lazy to figure out a better name for it. music is so much more than alt rock and pop
