Week 11 Summative Assessment
In this session, the theme is the same however it is more broad and documentative about what we learn for the past few weeks.
However, while I was writing on the paper, I was assinge dto write more on the collaborative skills area.
The whole components of our module from Craft workshop to Digital skills
We are given two different sheets of paper of our ideation.
Reflecting on my pervious classes, I remember in studio 1, in week 5 where the teacher assigned us in collaborating with one another for the rotoscope animation visualization.
In that schoolwork, he gives us several sheets of paper, each paper has a distinct shapes that is different from one another and explained that we have to visualized one sheet from the beginning and transcend towards another shapes of the ending paper. The theme can be however we want.
My sketches of transcendental beginning to end.
I was paired up with Lena Nyuyen that sat beside me.Although I was not expessive in communicating we still works well together.
I tried my best to help her in this project since I believed that having a helpful teammate is good way of collaborating with other well because you get the job done and a person will recogised for your hardworking attitudes you displayed which can also benefited in future job and future clients because you do not want to fail their expectations since expectations are important as a worthy of respect and work ethics.
Our finishing project from left to right
However the real challenges is the time constraint near the end of the class.
Although the project wasnt graded, we do our best to help one another succeed in completing as not because we form a good pair, it is because by helping others aim towards the finishing line together is more rewarding than doing it by yourself or just giving up.
Bringing the best in other also shaped up Critical Thinking is because both collaborative skills and critical thinking are centered around problem-solving. Critical thinking involves analyzing situations, identifying issues, and developing solutions.

HEART'S BLOOD - CHAPTER 8
*Warning: Adult Content*
Dane Hunter drives in silence, letting Julian Hart rest and recover.
Reading the scene of Bertha Lancaster's murder had taxed him on every level.
Add to that, grief of losing one of his best friends, he was not up to much conversation, anyway.
When they reached the cottage, Julian gets out and goes straight inside.
Dane follows, carrying a bag with his laptop and items he needs to work with.
“Do you want something to eat?” Dane asks, looking around Julian’s small kitchen.
“You get hungry after using your abilities, right?”
He normally does.
He should be starving now.
But he’s not.
He feel like he’ll never need to eat again.
“No, thanks.”
“l’ll see what I can come up with,” Dane replies, ignoring the young psychic’s answer.
Julian is just too out of it to make a coherent argument, so he just shrugs his slender shoulders and turns his back to him.
“I going to go take a shower,” Julian says and starts to undress, feeling almost certain that this is the first step to the showering process.
“Right here?” Dane asks, watching him with a curious expression.
Julian stops to consider this.
Dane is right.
The shower is in the bathroom.
Stripping off the rest of his clothes along the way, he’s naked before he reaches the bathroom.
He stands in the shower until the hot water runs out.
When it does, he realizes he hasn’t even washed himself yet.
By the time he has rinsed out the last of the shampoo, he is shivering but somewhat more awake.
He emerges from the bathroom wrapped in a towel and cringes with embarrassment to discover Dane has collected his trail of discarded clothes and placed them in the laundry hamper in his room.
Dressed in grey sweat pants and a white t-shirt, Julian wanders into the kitchen, but there is no sign of the detective.
Suddenly his hunger catches up to him and he looks around for something quick and easy to eat.
A bowl of apples catches his eye and he grabs one.
He likes his apples sliced, so he grabs a small knife as well.
He places the fruit on a wooden chopping board on the kitchen counter, set to start cutting, when a large hand closes over his wrist and pulls the knife out of his grasp.
“Jeez, Hart,” Dane says, standing behind his back.
“How have you survived this long on your own?”
“Why? I’m fine on my own,” Julian says, treating the handsome detective to a determined scowl.
“Yeah? Really? You were about to cut off your thumb.”
Julian looks at the apple in his hand and the way he is holding it.
“Really?”
“Yes, really,” Dane says, taking the apple away from him and starts to deftly peel and slice into twelve even pieces and hands it back to him on a small china plate.
“Wow,” Julian says impressed, staring at it like it was some kind of miracle.
“You’re really good at that.”
“I’m the eldest of eight kids. I know my way around a kitchen,” Dane says, washing the knife, drying it and returning it to the holder.
“Thinking about it, what do you normally eat. There’s hardly anything in your fridge and your cupboard is full of instant noodles and protein shakes.”
“I like noodles,” Julian says, hearing the petulance in his own voice.
“And protein shakes are good for you.”
“Uh, Huh. What else do you eat?”
Julian thinks for a moment, then his eyes light up...
“Fruit.”
“Great. I’ll get Micheal bring us some take-out.”
“Micheal?”
“Officer Nyuyen. He’s the rookie, so he gets all the crap jobs.”
Julian frowns at this revelation.
“Chief Coleridge was going to assign him to watch me. Does that make this a crap job?”
Dane crosses his arms over his massive chest.
“Yep.”
“Then why did you take it?”
“Because I like you,” Dane says matter-factually, smirking at the beautiful young man in front of him.
“Yeah, right,” Julian scoffs.
Dane looks at him for a moment longer, not saying anything, then he pulls his cell-phone out of his pocket and turns away.
“What do you want?” Dane asks Julian, over his shoulder.
“Thai or sushi?”
“Those are the only choices?”
“Yep.”
Julian ponders for a few seconds before answering.
“Sushi.”
He watches a little amused, as Dane wanders down the hall, looking too large in his small cottage, giving a take-away order to Office Nguyen.
By the time the take-out arrives, Julian is more focused but on the other hand, his grief has sharpened.
He isn’t capable of doing anything but sit on the couch with a pillow crushed to his chest and tears leaking from his eyes.
They run to the corners of his mouth, then overflow to his chin, from whence they drip to the pillow in his lap.
He notices the top of it is dotted with damp spots.
Dane speaks quietly with Officer Nguyen at the door for several minutes, before coming back inside and setting the bags of take-away food on the coffee table.
He stands over Julian for a moment, then disappears for a bit.
He comes back with a damp washcloth and startles the young psychic by tossing it onto his face.
“What the hell,” Julian curses, snatching the washcloth from his face and throwing at the coffee table, landing on the take-away bags.
“Enough tears,” Dane says, not roughly but not gentle either.
“I didn’t know the Lancaster lady but I doubt she wants this,” he adds, picking up the wash-cloth again and tossing it back at Julian.
“Now, wash your face.”
I’m grieving here, you heartless fuck,” Julian yells.
“Yeah? Well I’m hungry. Lets eat and watch a movie or something.”
Dane sits down next to Julian and reaching for the remote control turns on the television.
He picks a nature documentary with a British narrator and then starts to unpack the sushi.
Julian is distracted by the sheer quantity of food, when he is struck with a horrid thought.
“Shit... What did all this cost?”
“Don’t worry. Work pays for it,” Dane informs him.
“Seriously?” Julian replies, amazed.
“If that is the case, that is some perk.”
Dane digs in without hesitation and after a minute or so, Julian gets sucked into the beautiful scenery on the screen and the delicious variety of food spread out in front of him.
By the time the documentary is over, he is full, sleepy and far more emotionally stable than he was before.
Detective Hunter’s style might be on the rough side but he gets results.
Remembering Dane is sitting beside to him, Julian turns to find him watching him from the end of the couch.
“What?”
“Are you feeling better, now?”
“Sort of. The effects of the reading have worn off. As for the rest...”
Julian stops as his throat tightens and he swallows.
“I will be.”
He offers the handsome detective a slight smile.
“Thanks. I... um... I know I’m difficult to work with. Sorry.”
“I’ve seen worse,” Dane confesses, shrugging his shoulders and when their eye contact becomes too intense, Julian looks away.
“I think I’m going to gets some sleep. The couch folds out, if you want and the WIFI password is on the fridge... ”
“Found it already,” Dane interjects, watching Julian with the same look as the wolf had in the documentary, they had just watched, when it was stalking a deer.
Suddenly, he abruptly stands up, startling Julian for the umpteenth time tonight.
“I’ll be outside if you need me,” he says and a moment later the door slams and he is gone.
Julian stares at the blank television screen for far too long before rising and collecting the leftovers, stuffing them into the fridge and taking himself to bed.
***
He bolts awake from another dream of howling and scratching, sitting upright and breathing hard, sheets clutched in his fists.
Julian’s watch tells him it’s nearly 1 a.m.
His breathing slows and he starts to relax when the sounds from his dream intrudes on his waking ears.
A howl, distant but distinct and a scratching along the wall outside.
Julian gets to his feet and gropes his way to the front door.
Pulling the curtain aside he peers out.
The moon is almost full and by it’s like he can see Dane’s vehicle parked outside.
The interior is dark and Julian can’t tell if he’s inside or not.
Slipping on his shoes he goes outside, walking towards Dane’s car with an explicable feeling of mounting dread.
He knocks on the driver’s side window.
He pauses, then grips the handle and opens the door.
There’s nobody inside.
The crunch of gravel at his back makes him turn and he sees a flash of white vanish around the side of the house.
“Dane?” Julian calls out into the darkness but gets no answer.
At the back of the cottage he glances around.
Another flash of white catches his eye.
Something moves at the edge of the meadow, just beyond the forest’s edge.
He starts to move towards it when something dark steps in front of me, blocking his path.
Julian takes a moment to realize what it is.
It’s a wolf with black and tawny fur and it’s enormous... easily four feet at the shoulders and it’s head level with the center of the young psychic’s chest.
He stumbles back and it advances with a low rumbling growl.
Julian’s back hits the side of the house and he presses against it, eying the animal in front of him with a mix of awe and terror.
He has never seen a wolf before.
It’s so beautiful.
He didn’t know wolves made it this far south.
It watches Julian.
It’s golden eyes fixed on him.
Suddenly something draws the wolf’s attention and it turns sharply towards the woods.
The large wolf looks back at Julian and barks once, then takes off towards the trees.
Julian could have sworn it was trying to tell him something but for the life of him, he didn’t understand.

books!!! 4 / 6 / 17?
4. Did you discover any new authors that you love this year?
Anthony Doer, who i'm going to mention again at length in 17, if he counts, as i read one book by him and it blew me away and promptly went out and got 'all the light we cannot see,' which won the pulitzer a year or two ago — i'm kind of saving it to be my first book of 2021 but i'm very hopeful.
otherwise — hmm, i don't think i really read too many of the same author twice. there's definitely authors who if i see their name on a book i haven't read i'll probably pick it up.
6. Was there anything you meant to read, but never got to?
want to re-read house of leaves. meant to around halloween and did not. it's just sitting on my bookshelf in my line of sight, waiting. i also have a medium sized pile of Books I Haven't Actually Read that i will try my hardest to get through this year; just to shame myself they are:
A Constellation of Vital Phenomena, Anthony Marra (read another novel of his, The Tsar of Love and Techno and loved it)
Four Hundred Souls, a Community History of African America 1619-2019
Man Tiger, Eka Kurniawan (his novel Beauty is a Wound is unironically one of my favorites despite how Weird it is)
Infinite Country, Patricia Engel (BOTM, never got around to it)
The Politics of Our Time, John B Judis
Harlem Shuffle, Colson Whitehead
The Lost Apothecary, Sarah Penner (another BOTM; didn't like the two chapters i tried but want to give it another shot — plus, it's short)
Frederick Douglass, David W Blight (got about halfway through and put it down and the problem with nonfiction is that it's super easy to lose the thread, so i think i need to start over)
The Making of Home, Judith Flanders (nonfiction)
The Ocean and the End of the Lane, Neil Gaiman
The Committed, Viet Thanh Nyuyen (wanted to re-read The Sympathizer first)
The Topeka School, Ben Lerner
The Water Dancer, Ta-Nehisi Coates
All the Light We Cannot See, Anthony Doer (mentioned above)
and of course, War and Peace. because eventually you gotta.
17. Did any books surprise you with how good they were?
Cloud Cuckoo Land, by Anthony Doer, which i rambled about incoherently through my tears here — i liked it immediately, it's well and cleanly written, it has timejumps and narrative threads and interesting characters, but then the last third of the book he just pulls back the curtain and ties it all together and when i say i cried for the last hour? it's not a sad book. it is bittersweet and sad things happen but it is also humanist and sentimental and no one is truly evil and those that are can grow and change, and it all tied together and when i say! i cried!
i'm also going to say The Book of Longings, Sue Monk Kidd, which i got thru BOTM and was like "this is going to be super weird or super trolling" and ended up being played completely straight — the story of the (fictional) wife of jesus. that jesus. it was hard to read in places because it was so weird, but it was ultimately a good book and well written and it made me think about why i, a nonreligious person, a Jew(tm), am squeamish about seeing jesus treated as a fictional character in that way. the book has flaws (the second half of it has trouble giving ana, the heroine, a compelling plot and narrative while it kills time until jesus dies, and the ending is super rushed), but it works surprisingly well as a historical novel, had some interesting takes and choices and ideas — and was, while not my favorite book of the year, one with such a bold concept that i have to mention it anyway.

Raya And The Last Dragon - Review
I finally got to see Raya and The Last Dragon on Disney+ and let me tell you I’m glad that I watched it. It’s a fun fantasy-adventure that has elements of South Asian folklore. The film is great and I really enjoyed the world building and overall story. The movie stars Kelly Marie Tran as Raya, a warrior princess trying to restore peace back in Kumandra. She is looking for SiSu, played by Awkwafina, who is the last dragon
The film starts out telling the story of Kumandra and how it was once ravaged by Druun who are evil spirits that turn living creatures into statues. Sisu used a magic gem and vanished Druun, reviving the people of Kumandra but the dragons did not come back. A power struggle for the gem divided the nation into five tribes based on their placement on the dragon-shaped river. Fang, Heart, Spine, Talon, and Tail. 500 years later, Chief Banja (Daniel Dae Kim) trains his daughter Raya to protect the gem. He firmly believes that the tribes can be united once again.
He invites leadership of all five tribes in hopes to bring peace but things don’t turn out like he has planned. Ray befriends Nammarri (Gemma Chan) and she shows her where the gem is located. Nammarri then betrays their friendship and tries to steal the gem for the Tribe of Fang. The gem breaks apart into pieces and Druun awakens, turning Raya’s father and others into stone. Six years later, Raya is looking for Sisu and the other pieces of the gem in hopes of turning her father back to human.
Awkwafina’s comedic timing as SiSu is great. She’s a real funny character and I wanted to see more of her. I also like Raya and Nammarri’s dynamic rivalry. I feel like it's different from other Disney animated films. Kelly Marie Tran did a wonderful job at voice acting. On another note, I do want to see both of them become Official Disney Princesses.
Other notable actors include Benedict Wong as Tong, Sandra Oh as Virana, Thalia Tran as Little Noi. You can check this film on Disney+.
The movie is directed by Don Hall and Carlos Lopez Estrada and written by Qui Nyuyen and Adele Lim.

UAE into semis after shootout win over North Korea
Dubai: The UAE beat North Korea 5-3 on penalties in the quarter-finals of the Asian Games football tournament in Indonesia on Monday to set up a semi-final showdown with Japan on Wednesday.
Keeper Mohammad Al Shamsi dived his left to save North Korea’s fourth spot-kick by So Jong-hyok, before Rashed Musabbah calmly slotted the winner, after the game finished 1-1 in normal time.
This is the UAE’s second successive penalty shootout win in this tournament after having also beaten hosts Indonesia 4-3 in the Last 16 on Friday.
It also avenges North Korea’s 1-0 win over the Junior Whites at the same stage in this competition at the last Asian Games in South Korea four years ago.
The UAE earlier sneaked through their group as the fourth of four best third placed runners-up after defeats to Syria 1-0 and China 2-1 either side of a 4-1 win over East Timor.
Kim Yu-song put North Korea in front on 63 minutes after heading in a cross from Kang Kuk-chol, but the UAE equalised through Ali Yahyaee four minutes later with a similar cross and header supplied by Zayed Al Ameri.
The Koreans had another Kim Yu-song header from a corner disallowed just 10 minutes after his opener for an alleged shove on Ahmad Al Mehrzi.
The decision forced the game into extra-time after which Kim Kuk-bom hit the post on 98 minutes.
In the shootout, Ahmad Al Attas, Zayed Al Ameri, Khalid Al Dhanhani and Hussain Abdullah all converted as did Kim Yu-song, Jang Kuk-chol and Ri Un-chol, but when So Jong-hyok missed the fourth, it was down to Musabbah to seal the victory.
Maciej Skorza’s side now play Japan from 4.30pm (UAE time) on Wednesday after the Samurai Blue beat Saudi Arabia 2-1 in Monday’s earlier quarter-final.
Yugo Tatsuta’s own goal before half-time cancelled out Yuto Iwasaki’s post half hour opener, before Iwasaki completed his brace with a 73rd minute winner.
In the other half of the draw, South Korea also overcame Uzbekistan 4-3 thanks to a late extra-time penalty from Hwang Hee-chan on 117 minutes, after it ended 3-3 in normal time.
South Korea were 2-1 up at half time with two goals from Hwang Ui-jo either side of Jaloliddin Masharipov’s effort.
Uzbekistan then came back to lead 3-2 after early second half goals from Ikromjon Alibaev and an own goal by Hwang Hyun-soo, but Ui-jo completed his hat-trick with 15 minutes to spare to send the game into extra-time.
South Korea will play Vietnam in Wednesday’s other semi-final from 1pm (UAE time) after the Vietnamese beat Syria 1-0 in extra-time of the other quarter-final, courtesy of a 108th minute winner from Van Toan Nyuyen.
