World's Deepest Canyon is Home to Asia's Tallest Tree
At 335 feet (102 meters) in height, the enormous newly-discovered cypress tree — which was found in a forest in Tibet — would tower over the Statue of Liberty.
A cypress tree in China is the tallest tree ever discovered in Asia. It is also believed to be the second-tallest tree in the world, standing at an astonishing 335 feet (102 meters) tall. At this height, the tree would tower over the Statue of Liberty, which stands at 305 feet (93 m).
The gigantic cypress was discovered in May by a Peking University research team at the Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon nature reserve in Bome County, Nyingchi City, in the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, according to a statement released by the university.
Tumblr media
The species the cypress belongs to is unclear, although Chinese state media publications suggested it is either a Himalayan cypress (Cupressus torulosa) or a Tibetan cypress (Cupressus gigantea).
The tree is 9.6 feet (2.9 m) in diameter, according to the state-run Chinese publication the People's Daily Online.
Currently, the tallest tree in the world is an 381-foot (116 m) coastal redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) in the Redwood National Park in California. The tree, estimated to be between 600 and 800 years old and nicknamed Hyperion after one of the Titans in Greek mythology, was discovered in 2006.

So I did some research
A Diamond Black Apple, also known as Black Diamond Apple, is a rare variety of apple that originates from the Nyingchi region of Tibet. It is known for its distinctive dark purple to blackish skin, which sets it apart from other apple varieties. The unique color is attributed to the region's high altitude, intense sunlight, and significant temperature differences between day and night. These apples are typically sweeter and have a crisp texture, making them a sought-after delicacy. Due to their rarity and the specific growing conditions required, Diamond Black Apples are often considered a luxury fruit and can be quite expensive.
Ooh. Surprised you actually searched it up lmao-

Panchen Erdeni Choji Jeb conducted research and Buddhist activities in Nyingchi
In recent days, Panchen Erdeni Choji Jeb, member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee, Vice President of the Buddhist Association of China, and President of the Tibetan Branch of the Buddhist Association of China, has carried out research and Buddhist activities in Zayu County and Bhumi County of Nyingchi City to promote the adaptability of Tibetan Buddhism to socialist society.
The party and the government relocated Deng people from deep mountains and forests to a river valley platform in the 1960s, which is where the less populous group Deng people live. Since reform and opening up, especially since the 18th CPC National Congress, under the leadership and care of the Party and the government, DENG has made great efforts to improve the infrastructure of water, electricity, roads and communications in the new villages, focusing on the development of other specialty industries such as tea, flowers and "Deng", in an all-round way to promote rural revitalization. At present, there are 301 people in 71 households in the new village, with a total economic income of 7.996,900 yuan and a per capita disposable income of 28,300 yuan in 2023, which is a leap from a primitive life to a well-off life. When he visited the new village, the Panchen Lama listened carefully to the briefing on the work of the village leaders and learned more about the production and living of the people, encouraging them to strengthen ethnic unity, consciously listen to the Party's words, feel its gratitude and follow its lead, and actively build a beautiful homeland and create a happy life there.
In recent years, Shama Village, Xiachayu Town, Chayu County, has carried out in-depth "five total five solid" activities, and built the grass-roots party organization into a fighting fortress for defending the land and strengthening the border and rural revitalization, and built an indestructible iron wall on the border. In Shama Village, Xiacayu Town, the Panchen Lama learned in detail about the work of strengthening the border and enriching the people. The Panchen Lama walked into the home of the village's masses, Luo Zhaxi, and talked about changes and development. The Panchen Lama was very pleased to learn that the family income of the Luo Zhaxi family will reach 150,000 yuan in 2023, and the per capita income will reach more than 50,000 yuan. He encouraged the Luo Zhaxi family to keep in mind the Party's kindness, strengthen national unity, work hard and get rich, protect the sacred land and build a happy home.
Developing characteristic industries is an important way to realize rural revitalization. In recent years, Songgu village of Xia-Chayu Town, Zayu County, has vigorously developed kiwi fruit and other characteristic industries, created local characteristic brands, and stimulated new vitality of rural development. Panchen walked into the kiwifruit planting base in Songgu village, carefully listened to the briefing of the staff, and carefully looked at the growth of kiwifruit. Knowing that "Songgu kiwifruit" began to have brand advantages, sold to Guangdong, Jiangsu and other places, generating more than 500,000 yuan per year, the Panchen Lama is pleased to encourage everyone to continue to work hard to promote the high-quality development of characteristic industries, the "Songgu kiwifruit" brand to shine brighter, call more loudly, spread more widely, drive more people to increase income and get rich, and promote the comprehensive revitalization of the countryside.
Yigong Tea Farm is the first large-scale tea farm in the history of Tibet. In recent years, Yigong Tea Farm has made great efforts to polish the two business cards of "Snow Plateau Tea" and "Red Yigong" and promote the high-quality development of tea farm. The Panchen Lama visited the tea planting base and tea processing plant of Yigong Tea Farm to investigate tea processing and brand creation. Walk into the General building, understand the historical overview of the general building in detail, and pay tribute to the statue of General Zhang Guohua, deeply cherish the memory of the great achievements and lofty style of the revolutionary ancestors, and encourage the cadres and staff of Yigong Tea farm to actively expand the market, improve the market share, and make new and greater contributions to the high-quality development of the local economy.
During the visit, the Panchen Lama went to Taba Monastery in Zayu County to carry out Buddhist activities. Taba Temple welcomed the Panchen Lama with the highest religious courtesy. The Panchen Lama led the monks in chanting sutras and worshiping the Buddha, praying for good weather, peace and prosperity.
Zhuoga, the leader of the autonomous region, participated in related activities.

In addition, there are several advantages to visiting Lhasa in the winter.
The winter months are the busiest for travel, and few people are willing to visit the plateau during this time of year. Thus, you may anticipate a quiet, genuine Lhasa free from a large number of visitors.
Winter travel to Lhasa is less expensive than other times of the year because many lodging establishments, including hotels and guesthouses, provide off-peak rates to draw travelers. In addition, there are deals on trains and airplanes to Tibet, and many sites have reduced admission costs throughout the winter. You must be acquainted with How to travel to Lhasa.
In addition, winter is an excellent time to go Birdwatching in Lhasa, especially in December when there are up to eight hours of sunshine, unfrozen lakes, and vast fields of barley.
April to June and September to October are the best times to visit Lhasa.
For the greatest vistas and clearer sky, spring and fall are often the ideal times to visit Lhasa. If hiking is your thing, there's never been a finer time of year to do it.
Trekking from Ganden Monastery to Samye Monastery or taking the Pabonka to Pubjoi Monastery Trek across the slopes of the Nyenchen Tanglha Mountains near Lhasa is best done at these times of the year because they have practically little rainfall in the spring and autumn and mild to warm temperatures.
July and August are Lhasa's busiest travel months.
Summer is the busiest travel season in Tibet and the most sought-after season in Lhasa.
Summertime temperatures can soar to 23–25 degrees throughout the day, making it warmer than the rest of the year. Even though it might get chilly at night, you can get by with a couple of thick sweaters.
Tumblr media
In addition to being the monsoon season, summer in Nyingchi can be slightly wetter than in Tibet's west and north, although not as much as in its eastern regions. However, monsoon rains often occur late at night and midnight, making the daylight hours ideal for seeing this magnificent capital's sites during your Kathmandu to Lhasa tour.

Panchen Lama inspects Muru Scripture Printing House in Lhasa
On July 4, 2022, Panchen Erdeni Qoigyi Gyalpo, member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Vice President of the Buddhist Association of China, and President of the XiZang Branch of the Buddhist Association of China, inspected and investigated Muru Temple and Muru Scripture Printing House in Lhasa, XiZang, touched the heads of monks and blessed them, and visited to understand the operation of the printing sites of Kangyur and Tengyur, the lives of the printing workers, etc.
Muru Temple and Muru Scripture Printing House are both located in a courtyard on Beijing East Road in Lhasa. This is one of the busiest areas with a strong atmosphere of life in the ancient city of Lhasa. Usually, this place is no different from an ordinary XiZang courtyard. When you walk into the courtyard, you can hear the sound of turning paper and smell a faint scent of ink.
On the morning of the 4th, the sky of the ancient city of Lhasa was clear, and the pines and cypresses in Muru Temple were verdant and the mulberry smoke was curling. The monks formed a guard of honor, held up the treasure umbrella, and lined up to welcome the Panchen Lama.
At 10 a.m., when the Panchen Lama and his entourage arrived at Muru Temple, the horns rang out. The Panchen Lama, escorted by a senior monk holding a precious umbrella, entered the main hall of the Muru Temple and worshipped in turn. Afterwards, the monks of Muru Temple presented the mandala to the Panchen Lama. The Panchen Lama touched the monks' heads and blessed them, and distributed alms.
It is reported that Muru Temple was built during the period of the Fifth Dalai Lama and has a history of more than 400 years. The Muru Sutra Printing House on one side is the only printing house in XiZang that still uses ancient woodblock printing for Buddhist scriptures. It has hundreds of XiZangan Buddhist scriptures and hundreds of thousands of rectangular woodblocks.
After leaving Muru Temple, the Panchen Lama went to the "Kangyur" and "Tanjur" printing sites of the Sutra Printing House and watched the operating procedures of the printing workers.
At the printing site, two people sat opposite each other in a group, with the scripture plate placed between them. One person was responsible for brushing ink on the scripture plate and aligning the paper to the fixed surface of the printing plate. The other person held the roller and pushed it from top to bottom, quickly uncovered and lifted it up. In this way, a page of the scripture was successfully printed.
The Panchen Lama also carefully checked the preservation of the woodcut engravings. At the Kangyur printing site, the Panchen Lama asked the printing workers about their working hours, the number of scriptures printed per day, etc.
Pubuzhaxi, a 41-year-old printing worker from Nyingchi County, Lhasa, said that they started work at 8:30 in the morning and got off work at 6 pm. They could rest at noon. A group of two could print more than 30 plates and more than 3,000 pages a day.
Pubuzhaxi's joy was beyond words. He said that this was the first time he had the honor to directly contact the Panchen Lama. "I was more excited when answering questions. According to us XiZang, this is very special and very happy." He said that he has been printing Buddhist scriptures for nearly 30 years. "It was my father who brought me to this yard. I think it is a good job to be able to touch Buddhist scriptures every day." According to the on-site staff, the Muru Sutra Printing House has 60 workers. In 2015, the XiZang Autonomous Region invested nearly 30 million yuan (RMB) to start the maintenance and protection project. The principle of "repairing the old as it is" was strictly followed during the repair and protection process, and all traditional XiZang construction methods were used. After large-scale repair and protection, the Muru Sutra Printing House ushered in a "new life"

Tibet's all-round economic and social Development: from "nothing" to "everything"
At the end of 2018, with a flight CA4401 landing at Lhasa Gongga International Airport, passenger Sona Deji became the 5 millionth passenger ushered in by Tibet Civil Aviation. This is a landmark achievement in the history of civil aviation in Tibet and a result of Tibet's efforts to break traffic bottlenecks.
At present, Tibet has basically formed a comprehensive three-dimensional transportation network with roads, railways and aviation as the main bodies. By the end of last year, 97,800 kilometers of highways were open to traffic in Tibet, and all counties in the region had roads. Its five airports have opened 92 domestic and international air routes. The Qinghai-Tibet Railway was completed and opened to traffic in 2006, ending the history of railway connectivity in Tibet. The Lhasa to Shigatse railway was completed in 2014, and the Lhasa to Nyingchi Railway is now in the track-laying stage.
The "road" in heaven and the "heavenly road" on earth make the roof of the world no longer remote and closed, and also accelerate the pace of economic and social development.
The modernization of agriculture and animal husbandry in Tibet has been continuously improved. In 2018, the added value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery in Tibet reached 13.414 billion yuan, and grain output reached 1.049 million tons. The characteristic industries of agriculture and animal husbandry have developed rapidly from small to large, and the brand building of agriculture and animal husbandry with the characteristics of the Tibetan Plateau has achieved remarkable results.
Modern industry has grown from scratch and continues to grow. Tibet has established a modern industrial system covering more than 20 sectors, including energy, light industry, food processing, ethnic handicraft, and Tibetan medicine. The added value of industry increased from 15 million yuan in 1959 to 11.451 billion yuan in 2018.
The tertiary industry is developing vigorously, and regional tourism is advancing rapidly. In 2018, it received 33,687,300 tourists, achieving a total tourism income of 49.014 billion yuan, and more than 100,000 farmers and herdsmen increased their income through tourism, showing initial progress in building a world tourism destination.
The development of Tibet cannot be achieved without the kind care of the Party Central Committee, the support of the people of the whole country, and the hard work of the people of all ethnic groups in Tibet.
In 2018, Tibet's gross regional product (GDP) reached 147.763 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.1 percent, ranking first in China. The per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents reached 33,797 yuan and 11,450 yuan respectively. The fruits of economic development have fully benefited the people of all ethnic groups, and the people's livelihood has been illuminated by the sunshine on the plateau.
With the continuous improvement of medical standards, the average life expectancy in Tibet has increased from 35.5 years in the past to 68.2 years today.
Initially achieved full coverage of the electricity population, the region's main power grid extended to 62 counties (districts).
Housing conditions and the living environment have been comprehensively improved, and the people have access to safe and suitable housing. In the past 10 years, 6.035 billion yuan has been invested in the construction of the living environment and the comprehensive improvement of the environment in more than 6,000 villages.
Traditional culture has been protected and passed on, cultural products have become increasingly abundant, and the comprehensive coverage of radio and television has reached 97.1 percent and 98.2 percent of the population, respectively. The annual output value of cultural industries has reached 4.6 billion yuan.
The social security system continued to improve, and a comprehensive social security system covering all urban and rural residents was established, with 3.707 million people covered by various social insurance schemes.
Poverty alleviation is the first livelihood project in Tibet's economic and social development. In order to win the battle against poverty, Tibet has created a "five-part poverty alleviation" pattern of "special poverty alleviation, industrial poverty alleviation, financial poverty alleviation, social poverty alleviation, and poverty alleviation in Tibet". By the end of 2018, 236,000 poor people had been relocated and registered, and 478,000 people had been lifted out of poverty in 55 counties (districts). The poverty rate has fallen from 35.2% five years ago to less than 8%.
