Just a little behind the scenes ask. What makes Lucas and Bella so compatible? Like what things that each cares about having in a partner do they both fulfill for each other? (Aside the obvious of them being super caring and in love each other). It's a more like a meta question, since obviously I'm a huge fan of them both and their relationship (and their wonderful wedding😍). @writing-whump

Okay, controversial, but I think their flaws really compliment each other's, hence why they're compatible. Bella's emotionally constipated as hell when they start dating and she ghosts Luke multiple times, but he's very competitive and he sees this as a challenge. It makes him more interested, not less.

Lucas is super stubborn and doesn't know when to drop things even for his own well being, which is why they end up dating in the first place, because she does want to date him, she's just scared.

So this is what I think makes them compatible at first and even later. Bella's aloofness makes her very unflinching to certain things (Luke's wonderful combo of daddy and mommy issues for example) and Lucas' never feels like he's "giving too much" even when he does end up making up for her emotional unavailability.

Later later, where we're at - almost five years in, they've both settled down in the relationship, so I think more important things jump up: they're both goal oriented and I wouldn't say reckless, but they're both spontaneous and believe in "going with your gut". They also share the same love language: physical touch and quality time together!
