a leap for Lisa, i just saw it and Oh Boy do i feel.
first i thought i'd love the episode because the character's name was Bingo, ain't that a silly name! it isn't the first Bingo i've encountered and all Bingo's so far have been entertainingly endearing and women-obsessed. that trend continued here. but to hear that Al is Bingo, my life was complete then and there.
you know how i love Al centric episodes and this was shaping up to be adorable Al remenicing of his old friends in the old places he spent time in, listening to the stories he heard when in the academy and finding the planes cool as he'd not seen the model in decades. adorable. they even played Be Bop A Lula! thinking of the actual plot was not an option in the face of happy Al.
i timed it, and at this point i could only go 5 minutes whitout having to pause and take a squealing-jumping-biting-myself moment to calm myself down from all the gut wrenching happy i felt.
then Lisa dies and he realizes she dies and why does he have to re-live through so many painfull memories!?
then the plot catches up to me and i realize Oh Fuck oh god why is he being accused of rape and murder?? he wouldn't.
then Al's panic becomes my panic as i try to reason it all out. he was never convicted, never excecuted, so it'll be fine. of course it's not going to be fine! there's a 97% chanse he'll be found guilty. if he's found guilty he will be excecuted. 98% chance now. 99%... then a 100% chance that he will die.
he is dead. he died in the gas chamber. he never lived to meet Sam. you can imagine that at this point it was time for a good long stare-at-a-wall and try to get it together. but when the blorbo of all time is dead, and this was plain dead, no doubt about it dead, not "we didn't show it on screen so he actually survived!" no, simply dead, and all the whimsy in the world went out with him.
as he never met sam he was never a part of the project, so Ziggy, i don't even want to think of this, she is called Alpha. Sam is also losing Calavicci's name as he is replaced by some guy who doesn't understand whimsy.
thank god, thank sam, there are good news a-coming. Al is back! he doesn't, probably, get convicted anymore!
then we approach the end, which i only care about two parts of. Al lives! that is it i am, not even relieved, just glad that my worst fears didn't come to fruition. seeing him again, living, all life is colourfull again, the whimsy is back in the air and love is possible.
the other is Al talking to his younger self. especially in that last scence. that he himself could follow the orders given to him by himself without fully knowing that it would save him and others in the prosess, it gives me an odd kind of feeling, not too bad, maybe it's hope against hope for things i find dear to not dissapear from me.
who knows, i can't explain the feeling. but i seem to have enjoyed the episode at least.
